Huge store! Lots of athletic wear! No fishing gear at this location though…read more Employees didn't really offer help but it's fine. Lots of Nike and Under Armor with a smattering of team jerseys.

Soooo I have been at this store before but not really a stop for me when I come to the Great Mall…read more My cousins were visiting and they wanted to stop by since there is no Dick's Sporting Goods where they live. Yes, the store is huge. Yes, it looks organized and clean. Yes, there is a lot of sporting items. Yes, there are a lot of brands featured and available. My cousin wanted some Hoka shoes, she saw some that she liked and wanted to try in her size. In order to get your size to try on, there is a tablet on a stand that has you scan the bar code that is on the inside of the shoe that is on display. Once you scan, the shoe pops up, the colors are on display and the shoe sizes that are available. Using the touchscreen and going through the prompts, you request your shoe to be brought out. You also add your name to the request. On the display it tells you that your shoes will be brought out, less than 5 minutes. Since my cousin had a small infant with her and it was feeding time, I told her that we should sit and wait. A minute passes by, then 2, then 5, then 10, then 20. Meanwhile, I see no sales associates on the shoe floor. No one to ask what is happening. There is an entrance in the back that has signs posted to not enter, employee entrance only. Mind you, we were sitting right on the side of that entrance. Suddenly, an employee comes out, calling the brand and the shoe size of the two boxes that he had. People are scrambling to see if the shoes that are brought out are theirs. Nope. Some people are holding on to the display shoe and asking the associate if they could bring their size. The employee leaves to this illusive wall/door. Waiting, waiting.... Now, I am a very patient person but now we are at the 30 minute mark, another employee (not the 1st one that came out) makes an appearance, once again calling shoe brand and size. Walking a bit and swarming. Who knew that so many people were requesting Hoka shoes at that moment too. Why did the screen bother asking for a name if they were not going to use it. More people swarm the employee asking for their shoe size and they leave before I can say anything. 40 minutes....50 minutes, another 3rd employee walks out and brings another stack of shoe boxes with him. Same show, calls out the brand and the size. Nope, not the Hoka's my cousin wants to try on. Finally, I ask the employee, how long from when I place a request to when someone comes out with the shoe, and he said 5 minutes at the most???!!!!!! The most! I told him that I had been out here for almost an hour and no one has come out, he aplogizes and asks what shoe we want. I told him and he promises that he will be out ASAP with my shoe. Okay....promising. Another employee comes out....people swarm, my shoe is no where in the stack. Every other customer that is in the shoe dept is trying on their shoes, deciding and walking over to the cash registers to pay for their shoes. Not joking after waiting over an hour, finally the shoes for cousin to try on comes out. No, they didn't call my name, but since we had prime seating area to this door, i was able to spot the sticker with the shoe style that my cousin wanted. She tried them on....and NOOOOOO! they were too tight, she needed a half size bigger. Ugh, the future did not look fun if we were going to wait soo long to get the bigger shoe size. But, she wanted the shoe and they were leaving the next morning and there was no time to order online or go elsewhere. I used the tablet kiosk to make another request, I guess I had not learned my lesson. Mind you, I didnt see another kiosk and there was a guy that was perusing and looking like he was online shopping while others had to make their request. I did it and the waiting games continued. Waiting, waiting....everyone else getting assistance.... 10 more minutes....20...30 Finally I asked, where are we on the queue for our shoe to come out. He said well they dont have the size 8, so sorry. Um, we have the size 8, she has tried it on, now we need and 8 1/2, oh, sorry about that, I will be back ASAP. Okay....ASAP means different things for people. Finally, an associate comes out, not calling out names, brands or sizes and I see the shoe box. I told him that is ours. He gives it to me. My cousin tries them on and they fit. Long review, yes. But what a nightmare! Why have a process if it does not work and its not efficient. In a perfect setting, sure I can see instead of harassing the sales associates with wanting your shoe size, there is a system in place for them to get the alert and they come out with what you requested. The sales floor is clean since the only shoes out there are the display and not hundreds of shoe boxes. But, what is in place is not better. Personally, I will never buy shoes here. I would go somewhere else to try them on. I also wouldn't recommend this experience to anyone. Unless, maybe you have time to kill. Maybe.

My friend also asked if they could leave their backpack there, and the staff kept it behind the desk, which was really nice. The bike was in good condition! We rode it for 4-5 hours with no issues. A few things I wanted to point out - the seat was pretty narrow and hard, which made it uncomfortable to sit on. It had been a while since I last biked, so I'm not sure if I just need to wear padded shorts or if the seat wasn't the right fit for me. Another thing is that I couldn't sit in the front because the seat was too tall for me to comfortably reach the pedals, and there didn't seem to be an easy way to adjust the height. Lastly, it would've been nice to have a phone mount on the handlebar for navigation. We turned in the bike at the end of the day. Overall, the process was very smooth, the staff were friendly, and the rental was affordable. I would do it again, but I'd wear padded shorts next time :)

During the World Cup they were selling a specific World Cup pin that other stores didn't carry or you had to pay double the price for it online. I checked the inventory on the store website and it said they have about 6 in stock, so I went in to grab it. Upon entering I was greeted immediately and found that the World Cup section was directly upfront by the registers which was great, but I wasn't successful in finding the pin, so the cashier tried helping look for it and we had no luck. They doubled check to see if there were any in the back, but there weren't. I was told it's here but misplaced somewhere else and they had no clue. I was on the hunt for this pin and no other locations at Dicks had it except for the Sunnyvale location. I was disappointed I couldn't get the pin, but the people here were really nice and tried to locate it.

Posting this as a cautionary tale for anyone buying shoes at Dick's Sporting Goods - Sunnyvale…read more This would have been a one star rating if not for Xavier in Footwear. Excellent service and attitude. I bought a pair of On Cloud shoes and within 5 days realized they were too big. The issue only showed up in real-world use: when walking downhill my foot slid forward into the toe box. That's not something you reliably catch by taking a few steps indoors. I went back to do a simple exchange (not a refund). The shoes were clean and in excellent condition. The only visible difference was very slight yellowing on the outsole contact pads -- noticeable under their bright store lighting but not dirty, or damaged. At first I was told the exchange would be fine. After further inspection, they reversed course and said the shoes were not "resaleable" due to wear. I spoke with multiple people (each initially identifying themselves as "the manager" before clarifying their role), and after a lot of back and forth the best options offered were: * 15% off a replacement pair, or * $60 store credit as a "no receipt return" value (they said this reflects the lowest recent selling price and excludes clearance). I ultimately took the $60 credit because my time is worth something and I needed the correct size. But the key takeaway is this: If you buy shoes here, assume you cannot test them outdoors -- even briefly -- without risking being denied an exchange. The 90-day return policy sounds generous, but in practice footwear appears to need to look completely unworn to qualify. I'm sharing this so others don't make the same assumption I did.

But then I go to find out that it is not a store open to the public. *Unstoked*. But rather this is a Company Employee Store. Meaning a company or place of employment has to sign up with them (not really sure what that entails), then with a code/invite, the employees of said company can now enter the store and shop to one's content. I go to find out that my work gets involved in this annually, so I finally get a chance to scope it out. You have to bring the invite (a flyer for us with a code) and some proof of employment (a work badge for me). It is kind of a run-around but there is a benefit to all this. There are 3 glaring benefits from my perspective. 1. Being invite only and not open to the general public, the place is not crowded and cluttered. Very clean racks and displays. 2. Lots of legit inventory, so not a mish-mash of odd sizes and discontinued styles like factory stores. Felt like a kid in a candy store. Quite organized too, easy to find designated sections. 3. There are perceived deals/values here. Now I will point out that the brands sold here ie Columbia, Prana, Sorel etc are premium brand names and are usually not cheap. I actually find a full priced item to be borderline insane/expensive. Any Columbia gear I own are either gifts or things I got on some sort of sale/discount. Here at this store everything inside is 40% off (taken at the register). And even some items with certain highlighted tags, may be discounted even further to say 50-60%. A much better deal considering the quality. And after I went through their register to complete my sale, I was given another pass (good for 3 other guest too) to shop within the next 30 days. And there was a coupon attached where $20 can be taken off if spending reaches $100 (pretty darn easy to do). So another 20% off. They know how to market cuz ya know I want to come back for that. All things I restrained myself from getting on this last trip...will just wait til the next out. Bet!

Although staff was helpful to her in her search for shoes, what made the entire experience terrible was how hard staff pushed us toward purchasing a membership. One staff member assisting my wife initially had done the sales pitch, and we listened willingly. Later on, another person gave the same sales pitch to my wife, and she kindly told her that she's already been told about the membership. When we went to the check-out counter, the person at the counter started giving the same sales pitch about the membership. I immediately cut her off, my wife told her that she has already been told about it, and I said "no thank you." The person at the counter again tried to give the pitch, and I cut her off again and said "no thank you." For a third time, she tried to resume the sales pitch. I got ticked and gave her a stern response: "NO PLEASE!" She finally stopped. That entire experience left a bad impression on me, and I wasn't sure if this type of thing was specific to just the REI in Sunnyvale (I normally don't shop at REI). So I did some research online and found out that this type of thing happens commonly among various REI stores. I even found an online article from 2015 that talked about this, even citing the CEO of REI who gave a response regarding this matter of pushing memberships. He came across as being understanding of this matter. But that was back in 2015. it's now 2026, and obviously nothing has changed relating to this. I'm not returning to REI after what I experienced yesterday. They've lost any potential future business from me. If they can't accept an initial "no" answer and thus continue to push the sale of a membership, they've lost my respect and my business. And should anyone from REI choose to respond to this post, it's not changing anything from me relating to REI.
