    Camping knives
    Nicole B.

Although the place was pretty empty, I found their prices to be reasonable. I recall big five sporting goods as one of the go to sporting goods stores during Black Friday. It seems that the brick and mortar set up has taken its toll with online vendors starting to dominate in the last several years. The variety of items may not be As wide as REI but I think that the store is also geared toward more affordable camping, hunting, and other outdoor recreational activities. Today I went in to find a good fruit paring knife that I can bring with me camping. It was nice to be able to hold the knives in my hands so that I could get a feel for the weight in person. Other things that I might not have been able to take into account through technical specifications came to light. For example the ease of flipping the knife in and out of the cover, as well as The notches available for pull out. Balance of the way it distribution was also something that I was able to feel in my hand.

Here we go :} As a previous employee and I mean a long time ago of Big 5 I always loved this store. Unlike stores like Dick's and REI, this store has a more affordable base line for people who have kids in sports or if your looking for sporting goods that will do the job but will not last forever like REI. They carry a good amount of brand names like Nike, Armour etc and you can always find great deals on shoes. This year it is all about the camping gear right? So I came over here to get some gifts for Timmy shssssss :} and I found a great camping backpack and other little camping goodies as well as I had some coupons and got a great deal on some shoes for my brother. I use to get my dad's fishing license here but for the last 2 years the machine kept breaking so now I just buy that directly online. The store is packed with stuff and they ran some really good deals this year when it came to Christmas toys, camping, shoes of course and other items. I like the fact that when I walk into the store they put most of the items right up front near the cashier so you don't have to run around everywhere looking for the advertised items. They are usually marked with a hot pink ticket. What drives me crazy is that this store can get a bit messy and if you are looking for something in particular it does take a while to get through some of the items. Most of the time I get really good service here, the cashier was really sweet and one of the team manager that helped me with the backpack was not in the best of moods. Don't get me wrong she helped me a find a really good price on a backpack but prior to her assistants with the shoes and other things she was being yelled at by an employee about a break, which that young man needs to learn some manners. Now I don't know about you but that would never fly with me and it is really unprofessional in any setting. I think Big 5 is a great store they have supported my son's football teams over the years and are very willing to participate in the community. I hope that if management see's this that the DM can bring some order in the store and stop employee's from making a scene because let's say it "Christmas shopping is stressful as it is and I love Christmas shopping" and that whole scene was very uncomfortable to witness as well as it really put a damper on my Christmas shopping spirit because it seemed that everything I asked for was a bit of burden but I can understand that she was mad and upset at the young man for yelling at her in front of customers. The one thing I do suggest is add yourself to their mailing list for they have daily deals which you need a coupon and it is literally only for a day. Also, please keep in mind that many items that are on sale cannot be purchased online but are in-store purchases only. Seriously though don't forget your coupon. :} Merry Christmas!

I first noticed this Columbia Sportswear Store a couple of years ago. I was pretty stoked as it was…read morein my area and being an avid outdoors person, I've often owned/used Columbia gear. But then I go to find out that it is not a store open to the public. *Unstoked*. But rather this is a Company Employee Store. Meaning a company or place of employment has to sign up with them (not really sure what that entails), then with a code/invite, the employees of said company can now enter the store and shop to one's content. I go to find out that my work gets involved in this annually, so I finally get a chance to scope it out. You have to bring the invite (a flyer for us with a code) and some proof of employment (a work badge for me). It is kind of a run-around but there is a benefit to all this. There are 3 glaring benefits from my perspective. 1. Being invite only and not open to the general public, the place is not crowded and cluttered. Very clean racks and displays. 2. Lots of legit inventory, so not a mish-mash of odd sizes and discontinued styles like factory stores. Felt like a kid in a candy store. Quite organized too, easy to find designated sections. 3. There are perceived deals/values here. Now I will point out that the brands sold here ie Columbia, Prana, Sorel etc are premium brand names and are usually not cheap. I actually find a full priced item to be borderline insane/expensive. Any Columbia gear I own are either gifts or things I got on some sort of sale/discount. Here at this store everything inside is 40% off (taken at the register). And even some items with certain highlighted tags, may be discounted even further to say 50-60%. A much better deal considering the quality. And after I went through their register to complete my sale, I was given another pass (good for 3 other guest too) to shop within the next 30 days. And there was a coupon attached where $20 can be taken off if spending reaches $100 (pretty darn easy to do). So another 20% off. They know how to market cuz ya know I want to come back for that. All things I restrained myself from getting on this last trip...will just wait til the next out. Bet!

No pictures to share but I absolutely loved my time in here. Like other reviewers have said, this…read morestore is amazing in that if they could model how stores should look when shopping this should be it. It's well thought out, organized, fully stocked and not so big that you can get overwhelmed. Ok maybe I'm lying. I did get overhwhelmed but only because there were so many things that I wanted to buy! I didn't see one item of clothing that was not on a hanger or fallen off a rack. There was barely anyone there on a Saturday and it almost felt like we had the whole store to ourselves. All of the merchandise is current season and the prices could not be beat. 40% off everything is a shopper's dream come true. Add in the sale sections which were an additional discount and you couldn't ask for more. Others have mentioned being able to do catalog shopping while here, but we didn't have a need to do that since everything we wanted they had in stock. Sale sections are clearly marked and employees are easy to be found throughout the store to help you. I came out with a haul of items from Colombia, Prana, and Mountain Hardware. If you want another invite into the store, you can either spend $500 OR take the survey on the receipt which will give you an additional 10% off for your next visit. The 10% off doesn't expire so come back anytime. Will definitely do that.

I selected an RSI SmartCap EVO Sport because of its versatility and features. I'll be able to use it for camping and for protecting my gear and tools from the elements. The 2024 model is the second generation shell that features a button to unlock the the panels from the inside. This was a huge complaint from YouTube reviewers and RSI listened and incorporated their feedback. The shell is manufactured by RSI in South Africa and is made from stainless steel. This isn't your grandfather's camper shell! I love that all four side panels feature windows. One of the things Chris did is weather proof the front rail on my truck bed. He mentioned that Tacoma's are know to leak at this spot and recommend a sealer. Chris did this without charging me. That's excellent service! Overall, I love the esthetic look and design of this shell and very happy to have given this small business my business. The process to order was very simple too. Communication was excellent.

Chris (owner) took my call on a Saturday and had both the Prinsu rack and Mini 3.0 unboxed and installed the next business day. Chris was knowledgeable, transparent, and he paid attention to the small assembly details (adding NVH pads, loctite fasteners, and silicone to body attachment locations). The entire process was really seamless. Everything felt very secure on the first long trip this past week too! Overall, very pleased with Chris & Rhino and recommend you check out their store, or at least call for your car adventure needs.
