The staff here are very helpful. I've been here a few stops and Ron offers advice to help me improve. I even bought a tab to his recommendation since I had been using a glove to string walk. I've been here with two friends. One worker helped the past one with a quick intro into archery. I brought a new friend today who has cerebral palsy. I wished I got his name but he had a Sonoma Zipline Adventures bucket hat on. He was the same one who had helped my other friend. This person is very patient in teaching. Decided to do a surprise date activity for Archery only! Came right when they opened at 11am on a Saturday morning. There was a party beforehand, and another group already in line waiting before us. Luckily, we were able to make it in the first group. The cost is: -$33/head per hour for lane rental and equipment (bow and arrows) -I believe $15 for just lane rental We probably didn't start until 11:10 at the earliest. We were waiting for the group prior to leave and we had to sign waivers. Instructors were clear and patient. Process is to shoot 5 arrows at a time. Even if you're in different lanes, you need to wait for the slowest person to finish shooting before you can go retrieve arrows (obviously for safety reasons). In my opinion, we probably shot ~40 times (I don't think I walked to grab arrows more than 8 times). It is a bit pricey for the amount of times you get to shoot, but it is a good experience to try out at least once! I hadn't shot an arrow until middle school...and I seemed to have a knack for it :D Careful with the whiplash from the bow. You may need to ask for an armguard, or ask staff to see the best way to hold the bow so you don't get hit. Pay after the experience. Downside is just not getting the full amount of time, so just be weary. Parking in the plaza. read more

Came here with a group of 9 over the July 4th weekend and had a complete blast at Archery Only! It was quite crowded when we walked in on Friday, but we were quickly set up and accommodated. They even brought out snacks and treats for us to stay cool during the heat wave! We were split into 2 groups so that we didn't take over all their lanes, which made it fun cause we were able to rest in between rounds and get a bit competitive as well. Very knowledgeable crew running the show, and was able to explain to us novice on how to aim, shoot, and all the safety practice that comes with archery. I felt confident that I could do well again the next time around, and this experience definitely intrigued me into the sport! I came here a couple times now and experienced this place enough to review. The first time I came I had just gotten my compound bow and shot it fresh out of the box. The kind gentleman Richard was very helpful and we were shooting the breeze about bows and forget me nots. I shot around for a few minutes before somebody was available to help me adjust my sights. as you'd imagine, I did horrible. I even got 3 arrows stuck in the back wall carpet well above the targets. After embarrassing myself a bit, I was finally assisted by another employee. He moved my sights up drastically which apparently I needed. It would've been so dangerous if I tried to go to an outdoor range with the sights not dialed in. After the adjustment he watched me shoot for a while until we agreed that anything outside of perfection was due to my own error. And once the sights were set there weren't too many errors! Ok, enough patting myself on the back. I came back today with my love interest and she rented a recurve bow, which was set around 16lbs. I personally don't like the idea of light resistance but they want newbies to focus on form from a close distance as well. Before the end of the hour, Jerry had her hitting kill shots like a pro lol. After we wrapped things up I had a quick chat with Jerry and told him how much I appreciate this place and their help. This place is well staffed with very knowledgeable, friendly and patient employees. You can tell they enjoy and breathe the sport. Jerry showed me a few pointers as well as Richard in my first time around here. They also suggested that we join a league for fun without putting too much pressure on us. My wife became a fan of archery instantly and can't wait to come back. She now understands why I've been trying to drag her here for so long. I learned that the gentleman that helped tune my sights was actually the owner, Wayne! He seemed like a serious guy but very humble and helpful. The only thing I can mention about this place compared to others is that when you rent a bow, you are limited to shooting at close distance if im not mistaken. You might want to take a look at their calendar too, in order to be sure that there isn't a class or anything going. Nothing I'd complain about but just for your knowledge. They also have very affordable accessories that you're gonna need. The bows for sale aren't overpriced or marked up either. From lower end to top quality Matthew's and Hoyt compound bows. We came here on a Saturday morning and there was little wait, however there are only 12 lanes which filled up as time went on. We rented a Recurve Bow for 1 hour of practice. These come with 5 arrows (as you can only shoot 5 arrows at a time). This was our first time trying archery and the staff was super nice and even helped teach us how to use the bow, aim and shoot and provided safety instructions and answered all our questions. They walked around and offered tips to improve throughout the hour and were overall super friendly! The pricing is also pretty reasonable as well with lane rentals at $12 per hour for each person with your own equipment and Recurve Bow Rentals (includes lane) at $30 per hour for each person. He reassured me that the damage wasn't too bad, that I could continue using the arrow without issues, and when I should replace the fletching. + Classes: The beginner class was helpful for learning about safety, positioning, and sequence. They also have a 3-week intermediate class that's twice a week. You can sign up for classes on their website. + After the beginner class, I wanted to buy equipment to come back and practice with since it's cheaper than renting both the lane and equipment. Wayne and Roger helped fit me for my first recurve bow and cut down arrows based on my arm length. Happy to say I'm still using the same recurve bow. + To rent a lane and/or equipment for the first time, ask someone at the counter for assistance. Came to try archery for the first time and did a beginner lesson. The instructor Dan was very clear in his explanations and pointers, and encouraging. At first, I thought $40 for a one hour class was fairly pricey and I expected it would be super quick. The one hour goes by if it you're enjoying it-- but for new beginners, you'll likely get tired shooting so an hour is probably sufficient! So overall would say it was worth it to learn something new! We visited this shop earlier today to purchase equipment for my daughter who recently joined the CAL Team. It was a busy time of day as a class was getting started, but even so, we were welcomed by several staff members. Roger ended up helping my daughter. He was knowledgeable, kind, and answered all of her questions. She was able to test a few of the recurve bows with different poundage to see which she was most comfortable with. Yesterday after lunch, I went with my sister and friends to Archery Only for some fun. Besides one of our friends, the rest of us were all first timers at archery, so we were very excited to make some shots. It is $30/person for rental and play, and $12/person if you have your own gear. Our group took lanes 1-4. Shoutout to our awesome instructor, Tim. He took the time to show us how to shoot properly and safely. In the beginning, he went over the phrases we would need to understand and call out for safety reasons throughout our play. We were taught how to hold our bows, how to set up our archery, and how to shoot and aim. We were also shown how to properly remove our arrows from the target board and how to safely hold the arrows. I learned that even though I was left handed, I was right eye dominant! I also found it to be surprising that your actual aim is higher than you think, so in the beginning, we were instructed to aim in between the letters A and O on the bottom of the target sheet. I will admit that my first shot landed on a target, except that it landed on my sister's lane 3's instead of my lane 4's. Good news is that the rest of the arrows throughout our one hour play landed on my own target. I even hit a few bullseye! I am glad no one got hurt, but one of my arrows somehow went all the way to the target and bounced all the way back to me! This goes to show why it's so important to follow their safety precautions. We were told to pull the string all the way back to where our face was and rest our hand on the side of our mouth. At first I was scared, thinking that the string could possibly hit my face in doing so, but it provided me with a good anchor and aim without getting slapped in the face by the string. I'm also grateful that they handed the three of us renters with a guard (not sure what it's actually called) for the arm that we hold our bows with because I did end up slapping myself with the string a few times. Each rental comes with five arrows, so you get to shoot five times each round. Honestly, we had such a blast playing archery yesterday. At the end of our one hour session, our forearms were sore from holding the bow, so we definitely got our workout in! Archery Only also has a shop at the front of the store that sells various bows, arrows, and other equipment needed for archery. The staff here are all very friendly. Saturdays are busy! If you want to come and shoot arrows, come when they open because it's first come, first serve. There's about 10-12 lanes so if all lanes are taken up, then the staff will put you on a waiting list and will contact you when a lane is open. The staff does a quick (5 min.) tutorial reviewing safety procedures and instructions of how to shoot a bow and arrow. My friend and I had fun shooting arrows and I did pretty well for a first timer. This was such a fun introductory to archery class! Archery is always one of those cool things you want to try, but I never knew how much fun it could be. My boyfriend and I got a great Groupon deal and we weren't sure what to expect. We arrived a few minutes early and were able to watch the last class wrapping up. The instructor was hilarious, personable, and charming. She really did know her way around the bow and I was impressed on how many times she hit the bullseye when she was practicing. We enjoyed joking around with her and asking questions on how we can perfect our aim and archery skills. She was really attentive and watchful if she could help you be better in the process. It's true that when ever you try to aim, don't aim where you think it should be at all. You'll need to figure out where your new focal point could be, mine ended up being the left bottom pocket. And it would come out hitting the bullseye, uh whatttt!? Okay great, I'll take it though!! The final test was the ballon popping..I went extreme for that ballon, but only managed to surround that round target. Go figure! Although my boyfriend gave me one of his arrows to try to hit it, I only grazed it! I ran up and defeated that ballon though, that still counts as taking it out right!? It's a great indoor range and an awesome place to get started with the equipment, too! They finally opened up this place for classes again a few months ago, so I went through the entirety of Archery 101 there. The instructor is fairly helpful--I got to improve my form quite a bit in those 6 weeks and learned an aiming technique. However, it got really interesting after the class ended, because I decided to purchase my entire starting equipment from Archery Only as well. I went in one day for it and got all the proper consultation from one of the people who work over there. They're very friendly and helpful and went over with me the options such as draw weight, the color of the riser as well as accessories and the pros and cons of each one. Note that they have more color options in the back, so be sure to ask them about that. I got a green-colored riser which wasn't on display, but they had it in stock! I also did get some advice regarding when I should get additional attachments. For example, waiting to get the stabilizers until I've consistently practiced my archery form for a while. In about a few hours I walked out with all the equipment I needed to start shooting the next day! All at a great price, too. The other cool thing is that with my purchase of the equipment I got a range card which gave me 5 hours at their indoor range for free. After that, it's $12 per hour. So I've been using that card and shooting at this range. In general, the shooters who come to this range tend to be fairly friendly and helpful so that's made my overall experience of archery itself awesome! read more

I had to ask the person their name, and the instruction given was not to par. I had recently taken an archery class at another business in the Bay Area and the instruction here lacked some basic safety information. One of the most important things any archery place will tell a student is not to dry fire the bow, nope they left that out of the instruction. I am not one to make many reviews, nor do I usually take the time to write as much as I will in this one. The fact of the matter is, there is no amount of words that can describe the level of service and excellence that I received by Roger @ Archery Only. I am very new to the sport of archery and only began to look into it based on the fact that my 10-year-old son has shown a very deep interest. Being someone who dives very deep into all my interests / hobbies and being a technically / mechanically inclined person, I knew that I would need to talk to someone who explains things in a manner that would talk to my inner nerd..... Yet also be understandable by a complete beginning. Enter Archery Only - Roger..... I called Archery Only, based on the many word-of-mouth reviews I received from people, and the fact that my instructor from Kings Mountain Archery highly recommended them as well. To say that I'm grateful that Roger answered the phone, is an understatement. His calm and cool demeanor, incredible depth of knowledge, and relatable personality, instantly gave me that feeling that I was in good hands. I called him on my lunch break and briefly explained what I think I would be into, and asked for any guidance he may give. I have done a good amount of research on the sport, techniques, products, etc, but I did not want to call myself informed yet. I told Roger the things I knew about, I told him the things I was interested in, and also told him what my overall goals were for my son and I. He welcomed us down for a visit after I was off work, which I obliged. When my son and I got to Archery Only, they were very busy. Roger was making some adjustments on a bow, but informed me he would be with me shortly. My son and I looked around, taking note of the stocked shelves / hangers and were getting very excited seeing all the cool bows and products, and watching people shoot on the lanes. Many of the other employees greeted us warmly and had a couple small, inviting chats while we waited. So far so good! We loved the environment! My whole experience at Archery Only, was incredible. Roger began to chat with us and give us information that would guide us into an introspective thought on what we really were looking for, and where we should start. My son and I knew we would mainly be target shooting. This is what I want everyone to know..... I have ran auto shops for a better part of 18 years. I have hired and fired many people, and dealt with thousands of clients at the high level shops I have ran. Between dealing with the public, being a consumer myself, and also being a high level service provider, I can say with all certainty that I have never experienced the patience, knowledge, and downright humanity, that Roger exhibited. He basically took my son under his wings and never got impatient, rushed, or any type of synonyms that fall in that category. Watching Roger show my son proper technique, asking him certain questions which he used to assess my son's needs, helping and motivating him... All was just heart-warming. Rogers level of knowledge and professionalism far exceeded what I could have ever hoped for walking into a new hobby/niche interest group like this. I'm going to end off by reiterating how absolutely wonderful everyone at archery only has been. Every experience I have faced by the industry as a whole has been nothing but positive so far. Roger spent his own time and stayed late with us to make sure we had what we wanted and what we needed, and more so that we were informed enough to build proper fundamentals, and to not make bad decisions. In many cases Roger even advised me to come back again and try shooting a different bow before I bought something. That is an incredible and rare characteristic in someone who has the potential to sell you some very expensive stuff. I greatly appreciate it his words of wisdom and him being my conscience per se LOL. However I am an instant gratification type of person and with the amount of time Roger let us test the bows and setups, we were sure that we had something we liked. We made our purchases and have never looked back. My son and I have been so excited and have enjoyed shooting so much, that there is absolutely zero regret in anything involving archery, even the big spend. So.... I want to give a final heartfelt thank you to Roger and the Archery Only staff. My son and I are so very grateful for the care and honesty we received and continue to receive from you. You have made a beginner and newcomer feel welcomed and received, and have given us a place we can trust with future purchases, bow work / upgrades, and a wonderful shooting environment. My stellar first-time experience with Archery Only and the amazing coaching staff has inspired me to write this review. I was part of a group of individuals who signed up for a rental-type event to experience archery in a timeboxed setting. Timothy was our head coach and he appropriately started off our session by guiding us through the essential safety information and layout of the area/equipment. The setup of the event was efficient and highly organized. Our big group was spilt into smaller subgroups where we switched off for a couple of rounds. We began with basic shooting at a short distance, then graduated into target practice (with balloons!), and finally had a graduation ceremony of long-range shooting (max distance of targets placed against the back wall of the range). Though our session was timeboxed, I felt like I learned a lot from Timothy and his fellow coaches (such as Alex) in a very short amount of time. I did not expect to get very detailed guidance about my shooting either! This was welcomed feedback that contributed to my stellar experience at Archery Only. Turns out I wasn't so sure, and he gave me some very helpful tips. The man can talk about arrow ballistics for hours.
