My children and I have all been learning at Ran's Art Studio with Ms. Mou, and I can't recommend…read moreher highly enough. Before joining her studio, I had taken art classes with several teachers. Although they were patient and even helped fix parts of my paintings, I always felt dependent on them. Once I left class, I didn't know how to continue on my own, and my paintings never had the confidence or impact I wanted. Ms. Mou completely changed that. She demonstrates techniques but never paints for her students. Instead, she teaches you how to think like an artist, encouraging you to develop your own style. She guided me through paintings I never thought I could create, and now many of my finished pieces proudly hang on the walls of my home. After seeing my own progress, I transferred both of my children to Ran's Art Studio. The biggest surprise was my son. He is very talented but also very opinionated and difficult to teach. He had worked with several teachers and even private instructors, yet had reached a plateau and rarely accepted guidance. During his trial class with Ms. Mou, he looked at the painting assignment and immediately said, "There's no way I can paint that." Ms. Mou simply smiled and said, "Follow my process, and you can." A few hours later, he had finished a painting that amazed even himself. On the way home, he told me, "Mom, I want to keep learning from this teacher." That was the moment I knew we had found the right teacher. My daughter has also grown tremendously. Her artwork has become much more sophisticated, and she has gained confidence in expressing her own creativity. What I admire most is that Ms. Mou never asks students to copy her. Even in group classes, every student creates something unique. She encourages independent thinking, creativity, and personal expression while building strong artistic skills. Ms. Mou isn't just teaching people how to paint--she helps her students discover abilities they didn't know they had. We are incredibly grateful for everything she has taught our family.

In…read moreclass she taught or tried to teach too many flowers for the short time we were in her GARAGE/classroom. The supplies she gave us to use in class were subpar and very very cheap. I had a piece of pvc pipe for my rolling pin. 2 students asked to pay and leave an hour early out of frustration; I made myself continue on but left feeling even worse. I asked in class and then again in email later if I could PURCHASE samples of her work of the flowers she had taught, she replied she sold them to another student. April claims she is some top of the line, one of the best flower designers and that her customers are all the Food Network stars. That they want her flowers... but yet she refused to make or sell to me. I simply wanted to PAY for 1 each of the flowers she attempted to teach us. I feel so very cheated... $60.00 for 3.5 hours, no book or hand out, nothing other than the few flowers you attempted in class that definitely were not assembled. The take home recipe given for pastillage did not work at all when I tried it at home. When I emailed for help...April's answers were not helpful and avoided my question. Her recipe is just water, gelatin and confectioners sugar. Her suggestion was that I added too much shortening!!! Shortening isn't even in HER recipe. When I pointed that out she said she was just suggesting a problem and couldn't know what I did wrong... what the hell... 3 basic ingredients... how wrong could I have gone...seriously!! She demonstrated how to make pastillage in class and let us touch it and then she gave us a different batch all together to work with. Something she prepared before we got there. April knew before I took the class that I am also a cake decorator and instructor, and THIS is how she treats her colleagues! Her business is a lousy cold garage that is crammed with crap, boxes, and product and is definitely not worth what she charges. If you need to go to the bathroom, you have to walk through her messy house and dirty kitchen. Not what I expect from someone claiming to be a professional. She ran in between the house and the garage and made it well known that she was watching a tennis match inside on TV. She also offers Wilton courses on her website, however Wilton claims she is in violation of the teaching agreement and is not an authorized instructor. Go to Michaels or JoAnns and save the frustration, time, and unprofessional-ism! I really feel that April is a cheat and probably discourages first time decorators. I would not recommend her class to anyone!!

This place is AWESOME! I came here for a week of baking classes and a chocolate class. She teaches…read moreit from her garage, which she has converted into a complete cooking area. Coolest garage in the world! Everything that we made came out delicious, and anything the teacher made for us was super good as well. The owner of this business, and the teacher of the class is a really friendly lady named April. She showed the class tons of new techniques, like icing cakes, and how to make royal icing, how to pipe etc. We made tons of cookies. I remember these jam shortbread like bars, and these pinwheel cookies. We also made biscotti, and a banana cream pie. Everything tasted really good! And we were able to take home usually more than 1 treat each day. For the last two days of the class, we made a red velvet cake from start to finish. We made the batter, lined the baking pan, and then made the icing, sliced the cake, iced the cake, decorated it, etc. I learned tons of new techniques. The chocolate class was very fun as well, and very informative. We made many different kinds of truffles, and we made chocolate mousse, and chocolate cups, and a few kinds of edible molding chocolate decoration! This place is awesome! Not only can you take cooking classes, you can order cakes and cookies for parties. The cakes here are really good! I really like her carrot cake, and her red velvet cake! YUM! The cookies here are really good too! For my brother's birthday, we planned it last minute, and called her about a day ahead, yet she was able to put together a cake for him, so that was a huge plus! But if you're able to tell her a week or more in advance, all the better, because you can get it more to your preference, and you'll probably like your cake a lot more. Overall, a great place for baking classes and cake decorating classes for kids, teens, and adults. And on top of that, a great place to get a cake for a party.

I took the class with 6 other adults and I felt that everyone got personalized attention from Mrs. Poonam. She took the time to talk to each student about any concerns we had. I learned a lot of fundamentals of painting like how to angle paint brushes, mix paints, using the right amount of paint, etc. The studio was cozy and I felt very welcomed. New ceramics studio just opened in Cupertino! They offer both adult classes and memberships (with…read more20% member discount for members). They have 12 member wheels and 10 class wheels. There is a slab roller, extruder, and wedging table available for use. They have 16 glazes available. Clay will be fired to Cone 6 (currently they have BMix and Speckled buff for now but will expand more in the future.) Member hours are 9am-9pm starting in July. And of course they have a friendly and welcoming staff. :)

I am loving this new pottery studio in Cupertino! It is a membership based studio, with monthly/6…read moremonth/12 month options. I love it because I can go in anytime during the member hours to practice throwing. It's brand new and it is really clean, organized, and overall well maintained - something that you don't find often in pottery studios. The ambiance is very calming which is perfect for throwing in my opinion! There's lots of natural sunlight, airy, and beautiful plants. From start to finish, Emma was great with communication in planning. She texted over project options with paintings or clay art. My daughter chose clay and Emma sent over photos of sample projects she could choose from. My daughter asked to do a "Bluey" clay art project and I thought to ask even though I didn't see any samples in the studio. Emma asked for an image and within a few days they created one for the guests to replicate. That was appreciated as my daughter and her guests love Bluey and were so tickled to be able to make one. We did have a hiccup on the day of the party but Emma, her studio manager and staff were able to accommodate everything without batting an eyelash! I appreciated their flexibility and ability to pivot flawlessly. The staff were so helpful with setup and always making sure everyone had what they needed. They took care of cleaning up the space, and disposing of any party remnants for us at the end of the event. Our instructor was so friendly and talented. She went around to help any of the guests who needed assistance on their project. Emma was so friendly and thoughtful. She made sure there were personal touches and made sure each guest felt special. She checked on us frequently during the event as well. My daughter loved it and so did her friends. I wouldn't hesitate to hold another birthday party here again. You'll be amazed what your little ones can produce given the right environment and coaching. They experience with various mediums including paintings, pencil sketches, and clay. Give the trial class a shot and see for yourself! Once you're engaged, you'll have the option of a 10 or 22 week program. They also have two different age groups for the classes (5-8 year olds and 8+ year olds). The classes are typically an hour and a half and parents are encouraged not to hover. Go home, take a walk, venture to the nearby mall and grab a cream roll from Balkh. The parking lot is plentiful so you should have no problem getting a spot. It might be tight and busy but the churn is quick. They also host birthday parties so if you're looking for a place to host clay art party for your child, see if they fit your plans! The owners are genuinely wonderful, kind people who have made him feel welcomed, included, and valued from day one. I have always felt completely comfortable leaving my son in their care and knowing that he was somewhere he was safe, cared for, and truly belonged. That has meant more to our family than they probably realize, especially because our experience in this area has unfortunately included consistent racism and exclusion. In fact, that is the reason our family has decided to move away. Otherwise, my son would absolutely still be coming here. We will forever appreciate the kindness they have shown our son and the wonderful experience they have given him over the years.
