The planning process was very smooth, and Kenneth was incredibly responsive throughout the process. Ava and Cristina were our two hosts who came onsite, and they were great! Set up and clean up we're super fast, and the whole event flowed really nicely. They even let us finish the puzzles even though the timer ran out before the first team figured it all out. Michelle and Tamara hosted our event at the university I work at for a division retreat. There were about 14 of us and the "escape room" game was da bomb! I didn't know how they would bring the escape room to us but it was perfect. We were going to do an offsite with a location based one but timing and location wasn't working for us so I thought I'd try breakout IQ. I'm so glad I did! It is a true test of team building and communication. The facilitation at the start was great. It really spoke to what I wanted my staff and me to get out of it. And the debrief was on par as well. We chose BreakoutIQ for a team building event, and everyone had so much fun. You have to wear proper walking shoes, and be prepared for the SF weather. It rained on us, and we walked about 3 miles, but still had a blast. During the scavenger hunt, we found ourselves saying "wow, i didn't even know this was here" quite often. It makes you STOP, and LOOK at what's around you. It's stuff you pass by everyday w/out even noticing. The brain teasers were the best part of the scavenger hunt. They really tested our ability to work together, and challenge us individually. We got stumped on a super challenge - as a team, we came in 3rd. But we did our best! I would definitely want to choose breakoutIQ for another event - hopefully it's a sunny day. Even just for the different sites around the city, little things you have to search for. I absolutely LOVE working with BreakoutIQ! I recently booked them for a team building event and had the most amazing experience. I worked with Michelle and she helped me set up an amazing Trivia game event for my team. She even helped me find and book a venue to hold at! When it came to the day of the event, I had lots of communication with Michelle and Rahul and they even beat me to the venue and were already done with set up by the time we arrived! The event itself was SO MUCH FUN!! My team (who can tend to be on the introverted side) had a blast and the trivia game really helped push them out of their comfort zone and also get to know one another better. We did a corporate offsite with BreakoutIQ with 25 people and we had a really fun time. Rahul (the co-founder) was very responsive to all my questions and concerns and made sure he found a way to address all of them promptly and to my satisfaction. He also went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure we had a great offsite. There were several members of my group that were very skeptical of the whole escape room concept before we started but really enjoyed it afterwards partly because it was designed with just the right amount of fun, difficulty and enough little clues along the way so you don't feel stuck. The one thing I will point out is that this is a mobile escape room so they come to you or rent a private space to set it up so it might not have all the grand staging of a location based escape room. And you are unlocking something as the final step rather than literally escaping from a room. However, this worked really well for our group since we had a large group that most escape room places would not accomodate. Also we had a meeting beforehand so a private Breather space worked perfectly for the meeting first and the escape room activity after. read more

I had to schedule a team building event last week for a group of 30 in Halfmoon Bay CA. Knowing it was going to rain, I wanted to find something that was fun and can be done inside at the hotel. Breakout IQ was the thing to do. As most of you have probably done before, this is like a breakout room however you don't have to haul everyone in a shuttle to get folks there. This company comes to you. All you need is a big conference room and folks who want to enjoy a fun event. I rate this company 10 out of 10. They showed up on time and they work around your group's needs. The team had so much fun especially since they didn't have to hurry to jump back on a shuttle. Rahul and Michelle were perfect for our 39 person company retreat in Pacific Grove! They're super friendly and did a great job presenting the storyline and puzzles. There's a score board prejected onto the wall so you can keep an eye on competitors as you race to finish. Our group came pretty close but stumbled towards the end. Definitely solvable! They also take pictures and send them to you at the end. Definitely give them a call if you want a private escape room game. Out of all the events we had at our retreat, this was the most liked in our survey. You'll have a great time too! read more

The escape room was SO fun!!! I learned a lot about my team and we were able to have a great little talk after about what happened. Our debrief helped us see what was good and bad about the teamwork activity. Our team built wonderful relationships with each other. The team member helping us was great and i would highly recommend him! After 45 min of setup, the event was an hour and we were able to complete and win the activity! These guys are an absolute delight. Our company team decided on an last minute activity (fine, I was tardy as the organizer and had to plan quick) and my coworker recommended that I see if Breakout IQ was available. Despite the short notice, they opened up a spot to meet our schedule. They are accommodating, reasonably priced, well-organized, and completely self-sufficient. My only job was just give them a room and about 40 mins to set-up. The staff is friendly, sharp, and gentle on the eyes. They know what to say at the right time to push us along with the clues. Wow. I'm speechless by the experience this organization has been able to create, especially in the cancer ward of a hospital with a patient and his caregivers. Rahul & Varun transported our group of 10 into another world of mystery, excitement, competition, and laughter; an incredible feat given the limited space we had to work with. The series of puzzles were highly engaging - they were difficult and challenging (but oh so rewarding when you finally solved them!) and intricately interlinked. Combined with the element of team competition, I was way more entertained that my prior experiences with escape the room games. Rahul's level of involvement during the game was just right and I particularly liked the summary presentation at the end that tied everything together and compared our teams' performance. I'm so thankful we could have an experience like this for the patient and caregivers - it was like nothing else we've ever done and it was a highlight I will remember forever. I've done a handful of escape games in the past and BreakoutIQ was uniquely creative, challenging and extremely well run. Highlights of the experience: - The setup promoted a healthy dose of competition that kept us on our toes for the entire game. We had 3 groups of 4 competing against each other and at any point in time, we could see other groups' progress on a projected screen in the room. #motivation - The venue downtown was easy to get to, well-decorated and set us in the 'mood' for the game. We felt like we were transported to another world which made the experience more fun. - Game itself was full of interesting puzzles. Every last detail was well thought out by the organizers from the choice of props to the level of difficulty. It's clear they've run a bunch of groups through these games before to work out the kinks. Overall I'd definitely recommend BreakoutIQ for a fun weekend activity with friends or a corporate team building activity among coworkers. Can't wait to see new games from these guys! read more

I usually only review bars and restaurants on Yelp because, despite my slender frame and lack of alcoholism, I love good food and drinks. That being said, I also love devastatingly challenging puzzle games, competition, and bragging rights with friends, so I'm going off-brand to write this review. BreakoutIQ is awesome and Rahul and Varun are great facilitators who have put together an great game, whether you're with colleagues or friends. I've done other room escapes before, but this was the first one I'd done that has a competitive aspect between the teams. I enjoyed mercilessly gloating about our team's clear, definitive victory almost as much as I enjoyed the game itself! Then again, I'm a horrible person - you're likely better than me, so you'll accept your victory with grace, dignity, and sportsmanship. They're really flexible with group sizes, so definitely check BreakoutIQ for a fun, different activity this weekend, and then head to Local Edition or Southside Spirit House to recap your escape. read more

What a blast! My team of 30 was tired and not looking forward to playing games after work (unless it was solitaire in bed with a glass of wine). It was a great surprise to see our team come together, get super engaged, laugh & yell, work our hardest to solve the puzzle, and read the clues right. The BreakoutIQ team gave us just enough help so we all were in the game, but enough space that we all felt really accomplished in the end. They even tailored the game to the needs of my company time wise. I loved learning the strengths of some of my teammates that I never knew before. So happy with this! We had a full group of 31, and we're all Housing workers on a local college campus. We had an absolutely blast! The theater escape was awesome, we had 6 groups going and we got pretty competitive. The clues were challenging but not hard enough that we lost hope, and everyone was having a great time. The only issue we had was how warm the room got -- mixed with adrenaline it was hot as heck! Impressed w the administrators, too -- Varun was very helpful in getting us started and the "producers" on the day of were awesome. We would definitely do this event again! read more

I normally don't write many reviews, but our experience doing the Escape room with Varun and BreakoutIQ was so great, I had to write one! My team at Airbnb did an event with them this past week and overall it was a creative, fun and challenging event - not to mention smooth and extremely well run. The highlights included: - Varun was super easy and great to work with and they even hosted the event right next door to where our office was - The game required tons of teamwork and cooperation amongst our group, and there was a fun competitive element by competing against the other half of our team - The recap they shared at the end was extremely thorough and intriguing. Our group had fun with BreakoutIQ's Theater Escape game. I particularly liked the breakdown presentation at the end, where everything was explained. My only suggestion would be for the game to have a little more connected flow, but believe me, this did not detract from our enjoyment, just a little from the problem-solving aspect.
