This was the straight-up-best-event we've ever had -- and we've done archery tag, bubble soccer, ping pong playoffs, guacamole competitions, karaoke, film fest ... everything. We had a hard time getting participation.. because we have a lot of shy folks. One person said they were going to try it out and leave after five minutes. He rocked it the whole time. That's the power of a safe space, thanks to Danny and Claire. We utilized Nerd Improv for one of our team building activities at an offsite meeting. I definitely was a little nervous when I found out we would be doing improv. I took an improv class senior year of high school and dropped out because it was too uncomfortable. So needless to say, I was not looking forward to this (at first). The activities ended up being great! They really work with you to help you open up and you get to connect and become vulnerable (something I hate) with your co-workers. It was an eye opening experience and it was nice to let our guards down and just openly share our stories. I think it could be a little awkward at first, but everyone started participating and feeling more comfortable with the exercises. Danny and his team at Nerd Improv CRUSHED our offsite! This was the first time my team who works in different locations were together and I wanted to find an activity that bonded them, taught them collaboration skills and most importantly a FUN activity. As a rapidly growing team (Level 5 - Lyft's self-driving division) with many new additions, we had an offsite where Danny and the Nerd Improv team were able to infuse fun, focus, and help foster camaraderie amongst peers. We're already a fun team, but with growth comes the need to reinforce connection and form new bonds. I truly enjoyed NerdImprov. I found them on Google and then checked out their reviews on Yelp. Danny, the facilitator, was pleasant and organized in the set up and administrative part of scheduling this class. He arrived on time and even sent me an email to let me know he was on his way. I expected him to use improv as a way of teaching us. I thought we would be sitting most of the training and learning while watching Danny perform improv. I also thought he might be supplementing the training with some slides. Nothing could be further from the truth! Instead Danny requested a large room with a large amount of empty space. We stood the entire 2 hours and we actually performed the improv. The class was fun and entertaining with a message of learning for each exercise. I have a small team of individuals from a very culturally diverse background (India, Czek, Germany, ect) and so I was concerned that they would be open enough to fully participate in the activities or that they would be uncomfortable with the unique style of the training since we are a manufacturing company. However, every participant enjoyed the training and we learned from the skills of Active Listening. I highly recommend this class. read more

I see some of my other colleagues have commented on how great Danny and Nerd Improv were - so I'm going to also include a review :). At the start of the teambuilding, many of us thought we were going to be doing some major acting in front of some teammates we had just met. We were wrong - this workshop was amazing. Lots of small activities mixing the large group and small 1-on-1 time with other teammates. Nothing required "acting skills" - just have to be present and participate. We chose Nerd Improv for a recent team building offsite event and I'm so glad that we did. First of all, it was incredibly fun. Danny created an environment that felt safe and supportive and was especially sensitive to those of us who felt apprehensive. We had such an amazing time with Nerd Improv and could not have thought of a better or more fun teambuilding activity for our group of 20. Even those who at first felt a little hesitant to dive in and just be silly got really into it by the end of the event.
