My family and I played the Attraction and it was awesome!!! The production value of the room was very good, with a lot of cool effects. The puzzles were fun and had challenges that were different to any other escape room I've been to before. I would recommend this place to anyone who already loves escape rooms as a fresh new experience, but maybe not as a first escape room, mostly since the games are on the longer side. Also, during booking, I made a mistake, and the support team was so helpful! They were able to make a swap that fixed my mistake within an hour. read more

Very concerning experience (Understandable) We visited Palace Games recently and were instructed by staff to place all personal belongings in a designated basket area before entering the game. The basket was located outside of the game room and remained out of our sight for the entire duration (~2 hours). (Incident) After the game, we discovered that a wallet valued at $1000+ (including cash and multiple cards such as ID and credit cards) was missing. Based on the noticeable weight difference before and after, we were able to reasonably determine that the item went missing during the game time. (Their Action) We requested assistance immediately and asked to review surveillance footage. Initially, we were told that the footage would need to be "retrieved through a third-party vendor" and that we would be contacted later -- however, no one followed up. The following day, after multiple attempts to reach them, we were informed that the "vendor was unavailable (PTO) "and the footage could not be accessed at this point. Later, a manager called and stated that there is no recording at all (⁉), only live monitoring on site. When we asked for confirmation of this and whether we could document the conversation, the call was abruptly ended Subsequent attempts to follow up have gone unanswered. Additionally, on the game day, we felt rushed to leave immediately after the game ended, even though our scheduled end time was 4:00 PM and it was only around 3:45 PM at that point. This made it more difficult to properly check our belongings around the game area. We followed all instructions provided by staff, yet there appears to be no secure storage, no accessible review process, and no clear accountability when something goes wrong. Their responses were inconsistent and changed over time. the incident has NOT yet been addressed at this point. We are sharing this experience for transparency regarding how personal belongings are handled and how incidents are addressed. Update: The owner has reached out to us, apologized, and showed us the available surveillance footage. The footage only covers the lobby and hallway areas and does not include the room where personal belongings are placed, so it was not possible to determine what happened. We appreciate the follow-up and the owner's sincere attitude. However, this situation highlights that the designated storage area for customer belongings currently has no surveillance coverage or secure storage. We hope additional measures (such as lockers or better monitoring) can be implemented in the future to prevent similar incidents. While we acknowledge their efforts to address the situation, we are keeping our original rating to reflect our experience. read more

We manifested this for my best friend's birthday and did the The Edison with 6 escape room enthusiasts. I can't even begin to describe how incredible this room is. The technology in this room is like no other. If I had to criticize it, I would say there isn't much of a storyline and it did start a little slow, but the ending and puzzles made up for it. I would definitely save this escape room for people who have done a few escape rooms already. The first time we came here, we came with a group of 8 to complete the Edison Escape Room which is recommended 4-8 people. The escape room was challenging but definitely not impossible! There were a lot of tasks to complete so no one felt left out. The room was really thoughtfully designed and we all had a lot of fun and signed up to do another escape room here immediately after finishing :). The second room we did here was "The Attraction"! This room was even MORE thoughtfully designed - it was truly an experience. The puzzles were a little easier (or maybe our group just got better from last time), and we had a lot of fun!! We knew to expect an exceptional experience at Palace Games because my husband had raved about doing their Edison room with co-workers. But this far exceeded all our expectations!! Their themes, technology, special effects, puzzles, storytelling, incorporation of nerdy pop culture & set decor was grander than anything we've ever seen! We especially appreciated that it wasn't a traditional escape room and had no time limit. Instead we were invited to take our time and thoroughly enjoy exploring every area, which we did for over 1 1/2 hours. It was packed with clever, unique, tactile, and collaborative puzzles (no boring lock & key stuff). Many unexpected surprises and incorporated extremely impressive physical elements! This was definitely the best escape room type experience we've ever had! Their games are worth every penny and a must-do for fellow escape room fanatics! As the name suggests, this escape room is at the Palace of Fine Arts. There's free parking right outside the door which is much appreciated in San Francisco. On the door, you'll find that you should be at the door around 10-15 minutes before your reserved start time. If you have more time than that, you can loop around the back to sight-see at the palace! Otherwise, there's a number on the door that you call to let them know that your group is ready to enter. We waited in the lobby for a few minutes for them to reset the room and then we were given an introduction video to watch with the do's and don't of the challenge. Our group of 7 took on the Edison room where we were given 100 minutes to complete it. The record for the room was 52 minutes and according to our game master, the escape rate was around 20%! The room was really well thought out with sophisticated puzzles and electronics that were mind blowing when we realized how it all worked. We had a lot of fun and finished in 74:07! We'll definitely be back for more to try out the other rooms. You'll get a photo at the end using their phone that will be sent to you later that day, and it will have a caption at the bottom with the time you took to complete as well as your team name. If you don't want the extra text at the bottom, make sure to ask the game master to take a photo on one of your phones at the end! read more

Wow what a fun experience! This is only my third time doing an escape room, but I can say with confidence that the quality of this one was very good. Getting to the location is straightforward and if you go on a day where there aren't other events, I imagine parking is probably pretty easy. We went yesterday while the balloon museum is still on, so parking was a little scarce, but it worked out. The whole place gives off the vibe of a whimsical old timey theatre set, and the elements are well built. The game itself was straightforward with puzzles that presented a challenge, but were still approachable. I am saying this as someone who always struggles with riddles and puzzles. I especially appreciated that the clues were automated. In other escape room experiences, we had a walkie-talkie and had to call the front to ask for clues, which was simply not as effective. A big bonus was there were several challenges that could be solved simultaenously which forced the group to split up and work in tandem. That made it easier for everyone to contribute and not get overwhelmed by groupthink on one problem. I recommend Palace Games to anyone who wants a quality escape room experience. read more

We did the Roosevelt Room, and I loved all the details. There were a couple that were hokey and purely word games, but I appreciated the historical details built into many of the puzzles. I have don't over 100 escape rooms and this was probably the most expensive and underwhelming one I've been to. I've been here twice, once to do the Rosevelt room with a team of 8 and another time to do Edison with a team of 4. Honestly, the Roosevelt room I enjoyed so I wanted to come back, but did not enjoy Edison. I felt it was almost busy work for the puzzles that there was a lot to solve but kind of all in the similar manner. I guess it would make sense for a larger group, but personally it felt really repetitive. For the price of the escape room I felt it was a tad underwhelming and not nearly as immersive or fun as I would like. We escaped, but it felt more like homework rather than solving for the immersion of the story. The set inside was okay and didn't feel like it transferred you completely to a different era. read more

Absolutely amazing escape room experience. We did the Attraction room and it took a little over two hours. They say there is a two hour limit, but they really do give you longer. The Attraction was an excellent room with a lot of really interesting puzzles and several rooms. A lot more high tech than I expected an escape room to be! We really enjoyed it. Just an FYI, everyone for the Attraction has to be 13+ and you can only have kids under 16 if there are more adults than kids under 16. Plenty of parking although leave extra time to actually find the lot as we had to drive around quite a bit to get to the entrance. Great staff as well. I can see why this place is rated one of the best in the country. Can't wait to come back and try other rooms. read more

We had a ton of fun in "The Attraction" today. What I noticed is that this room requires more group cooperation than any other escape room I've ever done. The plot is original. We had the max size of 8 people and we were all engaged. Without trying to spoil anything, I think the 40+ crowd will especially enjoy this room. This room was tech heavy and felt like they had a big budget to build it. Also, in a previous visit a few months ago, I also did the Houdini room and had a blast. We are an avid group of escape room addicts with over 200 rooms under our belt and I can say without a doubt Palace has some of the best games I've ever experienced. So much fun! There is some serious thought and TLC put into the rooms here. This time around we did both The Attraction and the Houdini room and although they were wildly different in theme and set design, both were extremely fun and perfectly challenging. The tech in The Attraction was absolutely insane. It was fully immersive and we felt transported to another world while inside. An absolute must for anyone who loves unique and amazing games. Houdini was a more traditional experience, but the mechanics and surprises throughout the room felt fresh and rewarding. It was a struggle at times with only 3 players, but with a little help of our host we managed to complete in around 100 minutes despite the plethora of puzzles involved. Special shout out to all the staff here. The person at the front desk along with our game hosts went above and beyond in making sure we had a good time and were taken care of. It was very techy, good variety of problems to solve, fun opens to additional rooms, lots of laughter as we shouted at each other to do the right thing, and very well done room. We did the Edison room and I've heard there are 3 others with Attraction being like a mystery one with less of a time component. We recently did Houdini and Palace Escape room never ceases to amaze me~ There were many pleasant twists and turns and we were able to escape in 64 minutes!!! It had substantial degrees of mystique, and many separate puzzles that could be completed at the same time so there was always something for someone to focus on. My all time favorite is still the attraction and I feel bummed out that my friends have all pretty much completed Roosevelt and Lolly land as those are the only two I have not done yet. Did the Roosevelt room this time. It's still an incredibly well put together escape room, but I liked the Edison room a lot more. Without trying to give too much away, there are several puzzles that are very similar in the first room, which half of my group (including me) worked on. The second half of my group ended up working on puzzles in subsequent rooms that were unlocked, and I feel like my half of the team missed out on like 3/4 of the Roosevelt room as a whole. In Edison (the room I did in my previous review), the rooms/puzzles seemed to take more of a complete-team effort, or at least the unlocked rooms were more easily accessible, so you could easily go back and forth between the rooms and bounce ideas off other teammates and at least see/hear what kind of puzzles they were working on. In Roosevelt, there are tunnels (please make the padding better! we have old people knees!!) so it felt more fractured. I mean, maybe my half of the team was slow and just took too long to finish our room of puzzles, but anyway... Our room host was great. I'm still rating five-stars because Roosevelt was still way more polished and thoughtful than most rooms I've done with other companies, but I did feel disappointed with this experience because I felt like some of us missed out on a lot. Would still like to do Houdini and Attraction Rooms at some point! read more

My friends and I are escape room enthusiasts and Palace Games has been on our "must go" list for SO long! The price tag has definitely set us back a little as they have a flat rate per room no matter how many people you have with you, which usually isnt the case. BUT, it was my friend's birthday so we decided "hey, lets go finally try it out!" We definitely did NOT regret it! First things first, this escape room is literally INSIDE the Palace of Fine Arts. That is so cool lol. They also have their own designated parking space area so you dont have to worry about looking for parking. The entrance is easy to miss though, but hey, what's an escape room if the entrance isnt hard to find?? We tried Edison Room after hearing so many great reviews about it. Even our game host mentioned as we were approaching the room "You guys are doing my favorite room!!" That got us super excited! I dont want to spoil too much but I can definitely say that this room had puzzles and interactions that I have never experienced in another escape room before! I would say that the room started off with more 1st/2nd gen puzzles which got me a little skeptical at first then, BAM during the second half of the room you are met with so many more techny/modern puzzles that I was NOT expecting at all! I do recommend that you do this room with at least 4 people, it is so much fun with more people :) I will say we did face a technical issue in the room during our game. However, the game hosts were super kind enough to come in and recalibrate it for us, give us some time back, and guide us through the next part. That was super accommodating of them. On top of this, they gave us a voucher for the Virtual Escape rooms for the inconvenience. Customer service is top notch and well appreciated. All in all, after trying this room, we definitely need to finish the rest of the board! Attraction, Roosevelt, you are both next! Cant wait for the next time we get to try Palace Games. We've done plenty of escape rooms in the South Bay, but when I heard of this place at the Palace of Fine Arts, we had to go. The four of us attempted the Edison room. Just the very building itself is historic and beautiful and it fits so perfectly well to its new iteration as an escape room. You can see that LOTS of planning and dedication went into these rooms - lots of tech! Anyway, we finished the Edison room in a bit of overtime (but that's actually pretty good for us). The main reason why I have been dragging my feet to come here is the price point of $425/game. It's not too bad if you max out the group (which I believe is 8 people), but my group generally doesn't like to hit the max. We like the extra space and the chance to solve more puzzles than we would get with a larger group. However, I do like that you get the whole room to yourself. Palace Games has been on my radar ever since I found out their games are ranked- I think The Edison is the most well-known and their claim to fame. My group played The Attraction and we were able to get out within the allotted 2 hour time frame and didn't need to ask for hints (the game master offered up a few that we felt like were unnecessary, but didn't really take away from us solving the game). The technology and storyline are rather intricate and I loved how you get to solve so many puzzles and see all these different rooms in a short period of time. For our game specifically, there weren't any locks that we had to solve. This is very different from other escape rooms because I feel like generally most places rely heavily on traditional lock and key puzzles. Because of this, I think Palace Games are much more innovative than most. I've been a diehard Omescape fan, but now I want to try all the games at this venue. It's also a plus to have FREE parking in SF! I can't recommend this place enough and it's also kind of cool that it's located in the Palace of Fine Arts. TBH, the first part of your adventure is finding the venue itself. Good luck! read more

Took a crack at The Attraction with 6 peeps total. Some puzzles required all of us be coordinated while others could be tackled by dividing and conquering. There was a pretty solid storyline and it was cool to transition to different rooms/settings. Definitely different from the first escape room I've been to at Japantown where it literally kept you in a single undecorated room that required you to flip through and tear things apart. We completed the course in a record 1 hour 50 mins and 39 seconds against the average time to completion being 2 hours and 3 mins. It's pricey but worth it - $410. read more

My friends and I did the Edison Room and even though we didn't technically get out in time (we were still allowed to finish), we were all very impressed by the technology and mechanisms available for this room! There were definitely your standard lock and keys but there were also some truly creative pressure switches, word games, and total teamwork exercises (literally?) that kept us entertained. WOW! If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. HOLY SNAPS palace games has raise my standards for escape rooms. I went to Palace Games with Escape Room enthusiast and they were impressed as well. Finding the place was not too bad, just make sure to go from the outer part of the Palace of the Fine Arts. I only knew this as I attend a prior show. The staff are extremely nice and kind. Also they are escape room enthusiast too, so if you ask for recommendations. They will offer a few. Something super neat is that Palace Games have a game room as their waiting room. My group did two back to back escape room, I recommend spreading them out but since my friends were visiting out of town. We did them both! We did Edison and The Attraction. My group agree we enjoyed Edison more than Attraction but regardless they were good than your average Escape Room. Without spoiling too much, here is how I would describe each room. Edison has really fun puzzles and the way how technology is uses is so good and creative. Just remember there is a monitor to keep you on track.
