Very cool spot for those who love escape rooms. I recommend going with a group of people who are experienced, as this one is more intricate than others. Interesting story line and fun and interactive puzzles. The staff were very friendly and helpful if you get stuck. My only feedback is having air fresheners in each room or spraying the room with an air freshener when a group leaves as some rooms smelt a bit more musty than others. I assume it's from having so many people in a small room and running around trying to solve puzzles. We also came near the end of the day, so maybe it's best to come closer to when they open. Overall, the experience went well and it was a great way to spend time with friends! read more

NO WORDS. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. Palace Games has been high high up on our list to try. But with the price, we had to make sure we went with enough people and for a special occasion. We manifested this for my best friend's birthday and did the The Edison with 6 escape room enthusiasts. I can't even begin to describe how incredible this room is. The technology in this room is like no other. If I had to criticize it, I would say there isn't much of a storyline and it did start a little slow, but the ending and puzzles made up for it. I would definitely save this escape room for people who have done a few escape rooms already. I would not recommend this to a beginner because puzzles can be intricate and it would also ruin all other escape rooms. I can't wait to come back to do the other rooms! read more

A unique experience even after playing more than 50 rooms! We enjoyed it very much and we were able to do it with out 1 year old! read more

My family and I played the Attraction and it was awesome!!! The production value of the room was very good, with a lot of cool effects. The puzzles were fun and had challenges that were different to any other escape room I've been to before. I would recommend this place to anyone who already loves escape rooms as a fresh new experience, but maybe not as a first escape room, mostly since the games are on the longer side. Also, during booking, I made a mistake, and the support team was so helpful! They were able to make a swap that fixed my mistake within an hour. read more

Very concerning experience (Understandable) We visited Palace Games recently and were instructed by staff to place all personal belongings in a designated basket area before entering the game. The basket was located outside of the game room and remained out of our sight for the entire duration (~2 hours). (Incident) After the game, we discovered that a wallet valued at $1000+ (including cash and multiple cards such as ID and credit cards) was missing. Based on the noticeable weight difference before and after, we were able to reasonably determine that the item went missing during the game time. (Their Action) We requested assistance immediately and asked to review surveillance footage. Initially, we were told that the footage would need to be "retrieved through a third-party vendor" and that we would be contacted later -- however, no one followed up. The following day, after multiple attempts to reach them, we were informed that the "vendor was unavailable (PTO) "and the footage could not be accessed at this point. Later, a manager called and stated that there is no recording at all (⁉), only live monitoring on site. When we asked for confirmation of this and whether we could document the conversation, the call was abruptly ended Subsequent attempts to follow up have gone unanswered. Additionally, on the game day, we felt rushed to leave immediately after the game ended, even though our scheduled end time was 4:00 PM and it was only around 3:45 PM at that point. This made it more difficult to properly check our belongings around the game area. We followed all instructions provided by staff, yet there appears to be no secure storage, no accessible review process, and no clear accountability when something goes wrong. Their responses were inconsistent and changed over time. the incident has NOT yet been addressed at this point. We are sharing this experience for transparency regarding how personal belongings are handled and how incidents are addressed. Update: The owner has reached out to us, apologized, and showed us the available surveillance footage. The footage only covers the lobby and hallway areas and does not include the room where personal belongings are placed, so it was not possible to determine what happened. We appreciate the follow-up and the owner's sincere attitude. However, this situation highlights that the designated storage area for customer belongings currently has no surveillance coverage or secure storage. We hope additional measures (such as lockers or better monitoring) can be implemented in the future to prevent similar incidents. While we acknowledge their efforts to address the situation, we are keeping our original rating to reflect our experience. read more

SO FUN. this was such a great experience - I went with my work team to the Roosevelt Room and we had a great time. The tasks were really fun and varied. Maybe even too much fun (we had to sit in silence and ingest boba afterwards). We did finish but needed extra time, which they were kind enough to give us. V recommend. read more

We are escape room addicts having conquered over 50 escape rooms all over the US. Our family just completed their Attraction room. We knew to expect an exceptional experience at Palace Games because my husband had raved about doing their Edison room with co-workers. But this far exceeded all our expectations!! Their themes, technology, special effects, puzzles, storytelling, incorporation of nerdy pop culture & set decor was grander than anything we've ever seen! We especially appreciated that it wasn't a traditional escape room and had no time limit. Instead we were invited to take our time and thoroughly enjoy exploring every area, which we did for over 1 1/2 hours. It was packed with clever, unique, tactile, and collaborative puzzles (no boring lock & key stuff). Many unexpected surprises and incorporated extremely impressive physical elements! This was definitely the best escape room type experience we've ever had! Their games are worth every penny and a must-do for fellow escape room fanatics! We can't wait to go back and check out their other rooms. read more

Palace Games - Conquered the Attraction Room! - Escape Games Near Me - San Francisco, California

As the name suggests, this escape room is at the Palace of Fine Arts. There's free parking right outside the door which is much appreciated in San Francisco. On the door, you'll find that you should be at the door around 10-15 minutes before your reserved start time. If you have more time than that, you can loop around the back to sight-see at the palace! Otherwise, there's a number on the door that you call to let them know that your group is ready to enter. We waited in the lobby for a few minutes for them to reset the room and then we were given an introduction video to watch with the do's and don't of the challenge. Our group of 7 took on the Edison room where we were given 100 minutes to complete it. The record for the room was 52 minutes and according to our game master, the escape rate was around 20%! The room was really well thought out with sophisticated puzzles and electronics that were mind blowing when we realized how it all worked. We had a lot of fun and finished in 74:07! We'll definitely be back for more to try out the other rooms. You'll get a photo at the end using their phone that will be sent to you later that day, and it will have a caption at the bottom with the time you took to complete as well as your team name. If you don't want the extra text at the bottom, make sure to ask the game master to take a photo on one of your phones at the end! read more

Palace Games - Time we took to complete the Edison Room - Escape Games Near Me - San Francisco, California

The first time we came here, we came with a group of 8 to complete the Edison Escape Room which is recommended 4-8 people. The escape room was challenging but definitely not impossible! There were a lot of tasks to complete so no one felt left out. The room was really thoughtfully designed and we all had a lot of fun and signed up to do another escape room here immediately after finishing :). The second room we did here was "The Attraction"! This room was even MORE thoughtfully designed - it was truly an experience. The puzzles were a little easier (or maybe our group just got better from last time), and we had a lot of fun!! We'll be back to try the rest of the ones here!! read more

The best Escape room in San Francisco! So immersive and fun! We took the family and everyone enjoyed it (although not the most interesting for very young kids). I'd say the Edison room is my favorite so far. The thoughtfulness in clues and gags are amazing!! You really get what you pay for here- it is expensive for what it is but the level of detail has far surpassed other escape rooms I've seen. A+ for the props department! read more

It was so elaborate, interesting and well run. Clues were challenging but we got through it, very creative and well run had an amazing time. Will definitely be back. read more

So fun! We were a group of 8 and did the Houdini room. There were puzzles that could be completed in parallel, making it easy for all to contribute. The set was wonderfully thought out and immersive. Staff were very sweet. Even though this escape room is on the pricier side, I think it's worth it for the quality and time spent in the room! read more

Wow what a fun experience! This is only my third time doing an escape room, but I can say with confidence that the quality of this one was very good. Getting to the location is straightforward and if you go on a day where there aren't other events, I imagine parking is probably pretty easy. We went yesterday while the balloon museum is still on, so parking was a little scarce, but it worked out. The whole place gives off the vibe of a whimsical old timey theatre set, and the elements are well built. The game itself was straightforward with puzzles that presented a challenge, but were still approachable. I am saying this as someone who always struggles with riddles and puzzles. I especially appreciated that the clues were automated. In other escape room experiences, we had a walkie-talkie and had to call the front to ask for clues, which was simply not as effective. A big bonus was there were several challenges that could be solved simultaenously which forced the group to split up and work in tandem. That made it easier for everyone to contribute and not get overwhelmed by groupthink on one problem. I recommend Palace Games to anyone who wants a quality escape room experience. read more

Awesome for an offsite or team building exercise. Bonus points because it's at the Palace of Fine Arts, so you can ooh ahh and take pictures before starting the game. We did the Roosevelt Room, and I loved all the details. There were a couple that were hokey and purely word games, but I appreciated the historical details built into many of the puzzles. It was fairly complicated, so a team of 7 or 8 is ideal. We had a great time and loved our experience. read more

The rules are straightforward and the staff were friendly! Though for the price, the overall set up and experience for Lollyland felt a bit underwhelming. I would give it a 3/5 stars but I'd like to try the escape rooms before deciding as I have heard they're among the biggest escape rooms around. read more

Wonderful experience with the Attraction room! Our group has done quite a few escape rooms in the bay (omescape, escapology, escape game, etc) and this is definitely in the top. The story, mechanical elements, special effects, and dialogue all blended together for a really cool "attraction" that utilizes a lot of different puzzle types and interactions with the whole group. I have don't over 100 escape rooms and this was probably the most expensive and underwhelming one I've been to. I've been here twice, once to do the Rosevelt room with a team of 8 and another time to do Edison with a team of 4. Honestly, the Roosevelt room I enjoyed so I wanted to come back, but did not enjoy Edison. I felt it was almost busy work for the puzzles that there was a lot to solve but kind of all in the similar manner. I guess it would make sense for a larger group, but personally it felt really repetitive. For the price of the escape room I felt it was a tad underwhelming and not nearly as immersive or fun as I would like. We escaped, but it felt more like homework rather than solving for the immersion of the story. The set inside was okay and didn't feel like it transferred you completely to a different era. read more

It was pretty awesome. Roosevelt room. Various puzzles & fun surprises. Finished the room but past the 90min. Definitely on the harder side. The person who let us in was very kind. Absolutely amazing escape room experience. We did the Attraction room and it took a little over two hours. They say there is a two hour limit, but they really do give you longer. The Attraction was an excellent room with a lot of really interesting puzzles and several rooms. A lot more high tech than I expected an escape room to be! We really enjoyed it. Just an FYI, everyone for the Attraction has to be 13+ and you can only have kids under 16 if there are more adults than kids under 16. Plenty of parking although leave extra time to actually find the lot as we had to drive around quite a bit to get to the entrance. Great staff as well. I can see why this place is rated one of the best in the country. Can't wait to come back and try other rooms. read more

Absolutely Incredible Escape Room Experience! Palace Games is hands-down the best escape room experience I've ever had--nothing else even comes close. The attention to detail in the set design, storylines, and puzzles is next-level. We have done the Attraction and the Edison rooms, and they are a perfect blend of challenge, creativity, and fun. The puzzles were smart and satisfying--and the flow was seamless. It truly felt like we were inside a movie or video game. What really sets Palace Games apart is the quality of the tech and the immersive storytelling. This isn't just locks and keys--it's theatrical, interactive, and brilliantly engineered. The staff was friendly, helpful. If you love puzzles, teamwork, and unforgettable experiences, do not miss this place. Whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned escape room fan, Palace Games will blow your mind. Worth every penny--and then some! read more

Played in 2 rooms and didn't like either of them . To me it seems like the puzzles had a lack of explanation . But maybe it was just me ? I heard someone say it was a good experience. I guess try for yourself read more

One of the best Escape Rooms I have been at. Highly recommend. Will definitely go again and try another of their rooms.

This place is so fun. We did the Roosevelt room and the puzzles were challenging, yet not impossible. I loved how many "rooms" were actually involved! The staff were also very engaging, kind and helpful - shout out Nemo! read more

Awesome experience - high "props" production values in the Edison room results in an immediate immersive experience. There's physical surprises that go beyond your original starting place. Palace games educates cleverly and inventively, through game play, T Edison's brilliance and accomplishments. There's also bit of enjoyable "Survivor" / "Amazing race" style game element. Our group of five escaped 10 minutes over budget. Will be back to try other rooms. read more

We had a ton of fun in "The Attraction" today. What I noticed is that this room requires more group cooperation than any other escape room I've ever done. The plot is original. We had the max size of 8 people and we were all engaged. Without trying to spoil anything, I think the 40+ crowd will especially enjoy this room. This room was tech heavy and felt like they had a big budget to build it. Also, in a previous visit a few months ago, I also did the Houdini room and had a blast. I tried out Palace Games because a coworker had told me they were especially good at escape rooms, and I certainly agree. read more

A great and thoughtful escape room that uses both of your mental and physical skills. It is also one of the longest escape room I've done, which lasted about 100 minutes. Well they want $450 for a room, no matter whether you fill it up or not. We were a group of 5 and that is just stupid money. Would have been the same if we were 2. That's the price, $450.00. Way too much and they don't seem to care it's highway robbery. read more

We are an avid group of escape room addicts with over 200 rooms under our belt and I can say without a doubt Palace has some of the best games I've ever experienced. So much fun! There is some serious thought and TLC put into the rooms here. This time around we did both The Attraction and the Houdini room and although they were wildly different in theme and set design, both were extremely fun and perfectly challenging. The tech in The Attraction was absolutely insane. It was fully immersive and we felt transported to another world while inside. An absolute must for anyone who loves unique and amazing games. Houdini was a more traditional experience, but the mechanics and surprises throughout the room felt fresh and rewarding. It was a struggle at times with only 3 players, but with a little help of our host we managed to complete in around 100 minutes despite the plethora of puzzles involved. Special shout out to all the staff here. The person at the front desk along with our game hosts went above and beyond in making sure we had a good time and were taken care of. Really felt like they cared about the attraction and making sure we had a good time. Can't wait to come back and can't wait to see what they come up with next. read more

The Palace Games was such a fun and HIDDEN place to go to for Escape Rooms! It was a mission just to get to the location! The door is located OUTSIDE of Palace of Fine Arts, so don't be like us who walked inside the actual Palace of Fine Arts and walk on the outer side of it. Once inside, the lobby is super fun and I really love that there is HUGE theme in it. They really think about what they have in there. I loved the escape room we did, "The Attraction" it had a lot of components to it and was super interactive. It has a time limit of 2 hours to complete it. It's ranked harder but not the hardest. We cannot wait to come back and finish the other ones! Too bad I'm not living in SF or coming each weekend. I'd be here to finish the other 3-4 rooms! read more

The best escape room I've done! It was very techy, good variety of problems to solve, fun opens to additional rooms, lots of laughter as we shouted at each other to do the right thing, and very well done room. We did the Edison room and I've heard there are 3 others with Attraction being like a mystery one with less of a time component. It's at the Palace of Fine Arts with free parking which is always a plus! Apparently there is only a 17% clearance rate so gooooo us!! read more

We recently did Houdini and Palace Escape room never ceases to amaze me~ There were many pleasant twists and turns and we were able to escape in 64 minutes!!! It had substantial degrees of mystique, and many separate puzzles that could be completed at the same time so there was always something for someone to focus on. My all time favorite is still the attraction and I feel bummed out that my friends have all pretty much completed Roosevelt and Lolly land as those are the only two I have not done yet. These rooms are incredibly well made and worth the visit! read more

My friends and I are escape room enthusiasts and Palace Games has been on our "must go" list for SO long! The price tag has definitely set us back a little as they have a flat rate per room no matter how many people you have with you, which usually isnt the case. BUT, it was my friend's birthday so we decided "hey, lets go finally try it out!" We definitely did NOT regret it! First things first, this escape room is literally INSIDE the Palace of Fine Arts. That is so cool lol. They also have their own designated parking space area so you dont have to worry about looking for parking. The entrance is easy to miss though, but hey, what's an escape room if the entrance isnt hard to find?? We tried Edison Room after hearing so many great reviews about it. Even our game host mentioned as we were approaching the room "You guys are doing my favorite room!!" That got us super excited! I dont want to spoil too much but I can definitely say that this room had puzzles and interactions that I have never experienced in another escape room before! I would say that the room started off with more 1st/2nd gen puzzles which got me a little skeptical at first then, BAM during the second half of the room you are met with so many more techny/modern puzzles that I was NOT expecting at all! I do recommend that you do this room with at least 4 people, it is so much fun with more people :) I will say we did face a technical issue in the room during our game. However, the game hosts were super kind enough to come in and recalibrate it for us, give us some time back, and guide us through the next part. That was super accommodating of them. On top of this, they gave us a voucher for the Virtual Escape rooms for the inconvenience. Customer service is top notch and well appreciated. All in all, after trying this room, we definitely need to finish the rest of the board! Attraction, Roosevelt, you are both next! Cant wait for the next time we get to try Palace Games. Thank you Palace Games! read more

Very challenging escape room. A combination of puzzles, brain, teasers, teamwork and physical coordination is essential to get out. every time I thought we were done, they threw another obstacle in our way. Fun! read more

Did the Roosevelt room this time. It's still an incredibly well put together escape room, but I liked the Edison room a lot more. Without trying to give too much away, there are several puzzles that are very similar in the first room, which half of my group (including me) worked on. The second half of my group ended up working on puzzles in subsequent rooms that were unlocked, and I feel like my half of the team missed out on like 3/4 of the Roosevelt room as a whole. In Edison (the room I did in my previous review), the rooms/puzzles seemed to take more of a complete-team effort, or at least the unlocked rooms were more easily accessible, so you could easily go back and forth between the rooms and bounce ideas off other teammates and at least see/hear what kind of puzzles they were working on. In Roosevelt, there are tunnels (please make the padding better! we have old people knees!!) so it felt more fractured. I mean, maybe my half of the team was slow and just took too long to finish our room of puzzles, but anyway... Our room host was great. I'm still rating five-stars because Roosevelt was still way more polished and thoughtful than most rooms I've done with other companies, but I did feel disappointed with this experience because I felt like some of us missed out on a lot. Would still like to do Houdini and Attraction Rooms at some point! read more

Took a crack at The Attraction with 6 peeps total. Some puzzles required all of us be coordinated while others could be tackled by dividing and conquering. There was a pretty solid storyline and it was cool to transition to different rooms/settings. Definitely different from the first escape room I've been to at Japantown where it literally kept you in a single undecorated room that required you to flip through and tear things apart. We completed the course in a record 1 hour 50 mins and 39 seconds against the average time to completion being 2 hours and 3 mins. It's pricey but worth it - $410. read more

We've done plenty of escape rooms in the South Bay, but when I heard of this place at the Palace of Fine Arts, we had to go. The four of us attempted the Edison room. Just the very building itself is historic and beautiful and it fits so perfectly well to its new iteration as an escape room. You can see that LOTS of planning and dedication went into these rooms - lots of tech! Anyway, we finished the Edison room in a bit of overtime (but that's actually pretty good for us). I just booked the Houdini room for two weeks from now, so we will definitely be back! read more
