I played Ghost Patrol with a group of four and we had a really fun time! The theming was well-done and the puzzles were fair but had enough challenge to them. Paul was a friendly and helpful host who made us feel very welcome. We were there for my friend's birthday and were very charmed by the special ways the ghost celebrated! There is garage parking for the room that is about a block from the building. You could also walk to one of the nearby restaurants or bars before/after your experience to make a whole fun night of it. I would recommend a smaller group for enthusiasts/adults-only teams, we escaped in about an hour without hints. We aren't the most frequent escape room players but love a good puzzle. read more

Absolutely fantastic room. Challenging puzzles, storyline, and immersion. A little bit on the pricier side, but well worth it. Large enough space to warrant the 4-5 person team, even though we typically prefer to play with just 2. Without giving anything away, the challenges might be a little "mechanical puzzle" heavy for the average escape room player, but it's an aspect we really enjoyed. The room is already very polished. However, if I had one suggestion, it would perhaps be to add something that requires you to "know the ghost's story" before completing the final step(s). We recognized the story afterwards, but it would have been cool if there was a step that required it, or perhaps some way to acknowledge the story's conclusion. read more

What a fun escape room in Emeryville! My brother and sis in law like to book rooms when they visit in California. We were able to escape in the Knick of time. This place is located in kind of a busy area and there's a parking garage associated through the other side of the building that's connected. This was an immersive experience. The puzzles were clever and intuitive once you figure out all the pieces to solve the puzzle. The hard part is figuring out the pieces to it. Lots of different types of puzzles so definitely bring friends cause you'll have to approach some at different angles to figure out the answer. By the end I think I almost became a ghost myself! If you love escape rooms - YOU HAVE TO COME PLAY. I've been to a lot of escape rooms all over the country and been to several of the games at the Palace of Fine Arts - this is one of, if not my favorite escape room I've ever been to. The technology, the story, the game design, all of it was so impressive. I never felt frustrated at any point where I was like ????? How the heck was I supposed to reach this conclusion. Everything made sense. The puzzles were challenging and multidimensional and our game master Brad was fabulous. We called for a couple of hints when we got stumped and he gave fairly vague hints that were enough to point us in the right direction but not completely spoil the solution. Honestly, cannot stress enough how impressed I was with the technology. Everything worked. The room was beautiful. We did the Ghost patrol escape room with our family (group of 6 including my 10 yo & 7 yo nieces). We were so impressed with their personal touches and attention to detail, including a welcome HBD scrabble in the lobby for my SIL and some minor challenges for my nieces - no spoilers. The overall theme and story was very polished and of high production quality. I really enjoyed the backstory and felt motivated to succeed. The production quality and tech was very impressive! I would say overall this is one of the top 5 escape rooms I have ever participated in. 90 minutes was a close call for us to succeed. We needed phone hints several times and felt challenged and stimulated for multiple high tech puzzles. They used excellent utilization of the space and had incredible sets for us. My niece says she definitely recommends it! Extra bonus points for great customer service, a relaxed feel during check in and out. Also the 3-dimensional mental challenges using A/V tech were very advanced and cutting edge. Nothing felt cheap. read more

The story/theme was freaking DELIGHTFUL, the puzzles were really well balanced, and the little nuances with sound and lighting really set everything apart. We solved the room with a bit of time to spare, and we all had an excellent time. Everything was incredibly well done - the room design, the puzzles, the music, the videos, and the works. We all really enjoyed the story (My wife and I haven't done too many escape rooms but we haven't seen too many with fulfilling stories incorporated. This one was solid!) There was some great wordplay puzzles, deduction, lateral thinking, really fun-to-use manipulables, just a wide array of clever and fun puzzles wrapped up in a really tight package. My group and I heard about this place as we saw they were rated #1 in ALL OF CALIFORNIA! Emryville isnt too far from so we knew we HAD to try it out! #1 in all of CA only 30~ mins away from us? SAY LESS! We wanted to see what the hype is about but also came in with neutral expectations to be honest. Let me tell you -- this place deserves the hype. The puzzles, setting, overall theme, story, technicalities of this room were TOP TIER. They only opened in 2020 and have already made their way up to #1 in CA and this room speaks for itself as to why they did! The puzzles were the most attractivr part of this room. My group and I were engaged the whole time and every part of the room had an AHA! moment. I dont want to spoil too much but I dont think you'll be disappointed! Such fun and fresh puzzles that personally have climbed their way to the top of my book. Greg, our host, was phenomenal. This escape room is AMAZING. I've done a good number of escape rooms in the Bay Area, and this one tops the charts. Its production value and overall puzzles were super unique and fun to figure out. It's no wonder that this room was highly rated in 2020 as #28 internationally and #6 in the US. Some of the puzzles were just mind blowing and confusing, but once you understood how to get the puzzles, you had that "OHHHH" moment. This escape room is definitely expensive and is great for the seasoned escapist. It doesn't have all of your traditional locks that a lot of escape rooms tend to have, so expect to be dazzled a bit more. I'd recommend doing this with a group of 4 so that you have the ability to work on some puzzles for this one. I feel like 6 might be a bit of a crowd, but it doesn't hurt to have a little extra brain power I suppose. I can't wait till this company throws more escape rooms in the mix! read more

Some parts were linear but the puzzles were creative. I had a 9 and a 4-yr-old with me and they customized the experience for them and gave them a separate mission with prizes at the end. The Real Review: My boss had been asking me to plan a day for my coworkers to do team bonding for a while now, all I gotta say and this was the perfect way for us to hang out, have fun, and work together as mini teams/ a team, all on the company's dime! Don't tell my boss I said that. Upon arrival we were greeted by Brad, who made the experience from start to finish a very pleasant one. In the waiting room there were little puzzles and also merch you can look at or buy. Then eventually the escape room commences! The room itself felt like a Disneyland ride, specifically tower of terror (rip) but not terrifying even though there's a ghost theme. Every thing looked so real so we felt very immersed. The puzzles were challenging but once you complete the first two puzzles, you'll have no trouble figuring out the rest. Every time a puzzle was completed there's little sound effects and lighting that plays, which reassured me that we were on the right track. We had a team of 8, so we'd split into two or three groups to simultaneously work on puzzles to not waste any time. I feel like that works best vs everyone staring at the same thing not knowing what to do. We also switched puzzles or asked people from the other mini team for help if needed. Once we completed the escape room, Brad greeted us at the exit and took a group photo for us. He gave us an outro and thanked us for our time. Overall, my coworkers had an amazing time together. We laughed, we yelled, we danced. If you and your coworkers or friends/family are looking for an activity to do together, I highly recommend Trivium! I recently had the opportunity to visit Trivium Games with some friends and we had a blast. I've done a lot of escape rooms, and was very impressed with the mix of interesting puzzles, uses of technology, and overall story. Clearly Trivium has put a lot of thought into their room and it shows. The ghost theme was really interesting (and don't worry, it isn't at all scary) and could really extend itself to future rooms should Trivium Games decide to expand their brand. Note for experienced players: although the room goes up to 8 people, if you know what you're doing you could easily cap it at 3-4 people max. I honestly think 8 is way too many for the space unless you're complete newbies, though the room is pretty good about avoiding bottlenecks, so you can theoretically have multiple people working on different puzzles at a time. But if you know what you're doing, err on the side of fewer people. Ghost Patrol is super fun and definitely worth checking out! read more

Doing an escape room is one of my favorite ways to spend my free time and I can't believe I have never heard of this place until recently. My boyfriend organized a birthday activity for me here. Staff added a few touches here and there to make the game more personalized to the event, which I thought was pretty cute. Our game master was super nice and very engaged. I also really enjoyed the ghost theme. It's not scary at all and I think it's suitable for all ages. The music also reminded me of the Luigi's mansion video game. The rooms are private to your group only and all the puzzles made sense. You can also work on multiple puzzles at one time so not everyone has to be huddled around the same thing...however, this means you also run the risk of not being able to see how everything was solved. I feel like a group of 4 is the perfect size. 90 minutes was also more than enough time to solve the game. There isn't a timer in the room, so you'll have to keep track yourself either using a phone or watch. Music goes off every 10 minutes to remind you, but we were so into the game that we didn't notice it very much. There's only one game at this time, but staff said they are working on more and I would love to return. Last tip: there's designated covered parking behind the building, but we parked in the Safeway across the street. read more

Our team of 5 escape room enthusiasts with 100+ games had heard great things about Ghost Patrol at Trivium Games so we had to make the trip across the Bay Bridge during our most recent SF trip and we are so glad we did! This room is awesome. The storyline, the set decor, the music, the puzzles, everything was great. The puzzles were challenging but not impossible and we didn't need hints to solve anything (aside from a small nudge on the first puzzle which tripped us up a bit). We can't believe this is Trivium's first room and most of us agreed it was our favorite that we played during this trip. It's a 90 minute game and we escaped in just over 60 minutes, so definitely challenging enough for advanced groups but also still workable for newer groups. We of course don't want to give anything away, but the attention to detail and the love they put into creating this definitely shows. This is not your standard multiple padlock Escape room. There was even a puzzle feature we had never seen before. And as far as the story? It was probably one of the most cohesive and well thought out ones ever. Wow. Just wow. This was our first escape room experience and it was incredible. I was amazed at how high tech everything was! I felt like I was at Disneyland -- everything was immersive and interactive. The lights, music, interactive elements in the room... I don't want to give anything away but it was really so well designed, I'm still amazed by it several days later. The puzzles were challenging but not annoyingly so and Jesse the staff person was great at checking in to give guiding questions or nudge us in the right direction. It was cool how the puzzles were really varied and didn't get repetitive. We did it with our kids 9 and 11 years old and while they were initially spooked they warmed right up and were able to work on the puzzles too. Man, that was such a cool experience, nothing quite like it, awesome for our family to experience that together. I highly highly recommend it. We didn't finish it in the allotted time but that's probably a good thing since there were only 4 of us (with two kids!), it was our first time, and they say it's a max of 8. The escape adventure is really thoughtfully created, the puzzles were varied and pretty challenging, but not impossible to solve.
