We did Hidden Temple. This is our second escape room ever. There was four of us. We had an awesome time doing the puzzles. There were many puzzles and all were well made. Nothing was broken and all the sound effects were really cool. The puzzles also played off each other which was really clever. The storyline was simple and the clues were engaging. We asked for help as the clock was ticking. We managed to solve it but did ask for help. John was our Game Master. He was attentive and helpful without giving it away. Highly recommend! We had the best time at Clockwise! We have done a few escape rooms at other places and really prefer this style of a hands-on, tech free game. A really great experience overall, the set design was well made with spacious rooms and little jobs that made the experience feel premium. Of course I'm sure things could be slightly better but the items felt like they weren't cheaply made and items weren't broken or damaged so it played into the whole experience That said, I do think Clockwise is indeed worth it, there may be some shortcomings like one of the puzzles was already opened by the time we entered that section of the game but it wasn't a huge deal breaker. The sound effects were clear and helped to indicate some puzzle was complete but most importantly the host was great at being on the sidelines while checking in at appropriate moments I'd say the price for a private group since each room is private is exceptional value. You don't need to worry about other groups joining and that allowed us to make dumb mistakes without worry since it'll be our experience to own. This plus the well made decor/puzzles felt like out of the three or four escape rooms I've done much greater of an experience It's also extremely close to the BART station, like as soon as you exit the stairs the entrance is there. I do plan on going back, sadly only limited to three rooms but the host did mention a new room was being constructed from another game they had at their Idaho location? Either way, I highly recommend this place, the price, private room, and well-made environment made this a premium feeling rather than some prior escape rooms where items were clearly deteriorating from use and illegible to read read more

After completing an escape room at their sister location in Pleasanton, I learned they had another Clockwise in Oakland, which I had to check out. Located downtown and near the 19th Street Bart Station, you'll buzz in to come up to the second floor. The waiting room is fairly clean with nice vintage-like furniture. If you haven't filled out your waiver, there are QR codes around the room to complete that step. The staff and game masters are friendly and have a good sense of humor. So far I've played the Shipwreck Island and Hidden Temple rooms, both were nicely decorated to incorporate the appropriate theme. The puzzle levels were decent. Keep in mind, there is no penalty or limit for clues - just make sure everyone in your group is aligned with asking for a clue! Between Shipwreck and Hidden Temple, Hidden Temple did require a bit more thought as it had a few more challenging puzzles than Shipwreck. Docked 1 star for a couple of reasons: the leader board was not updated in the main waiting room (guests read this and may strive to beat the time to make the top 3 only to find out those weren't the latest scores and they didn't make the cut) and Clockwise gift certificates are only good for the specific location you purchase from even though this business owns 3 establishments locally (Clockwise Oakland, Clockwise Pleasanton, and Escape Oakland) - buyer beware! Despite the above, I'm looking forward to coming back to do the Candy Factory, it reminds you of Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. This place is great for kids, family, dates, and groups who are looking for something hands-on and fun to do. Excellent experience at Clockwise! Our family of three (two grown ups and a 9 year old) did Hidden Temple and had a blast. The puzzles were challenging but possible, the story was fun, and our game master Vanilla was incredibly patient and supportive. The game is quite sophisticated with literal moving parts of the room, interconnected clues, and many materials used/needed. We needed many hints and we were allowed extra time (that we desperately needed!) to escape ;) We can't wait to come back and try the other rooms! read more

My only critique is that there's a LOT of translating which felt tedious after a while. GMs were good at helping when needed but not pressing about it. We did the Hidden Temple escape room celebrate my birthday. Our group was three adults and two teens, and we all had a blast! My family has been to a lot of escape rooms, so we're used to seeing a lot of the same types of challenges over and over in different packaging. But this was completely new and inventive! The build-out of the "temple" was particularly impressive and had a very exciting reveal at the end when we finally completed the challenge. (It did take us a handful of clues and an extra 57 seconds, but we were still very proud of our victory!) Note: It also took us a couple of attempts to get buzzed into the building from the street, but fortunately, I had the direct dial for the business so it was not a problem. When the elevator opened in the lobby of the escape room it had a gorgeous vintage look and we knew we had arrived. That decor also match the party room where we enjoyed birthday cake after our big escape. (We brought an ice cream cake that they let us store in their freezer.) Location was super easy to get to. Decor for the room (Hidden Temple) was amazing and super atmospheric. We only had 4 people and absolutely needed all of us to accomplish all the puzzles in parallel within the timeframe. I do not recommend doing the room with less than the suggested minimum. My ONLY complaint is the puzzles towards the end required logic leaps that had not been established in earlier puzzles, which was a bit confusing and frustrating. However, our game master John was super helpful and insightful. This was my first room at this location but I can't wait to come back again! I highly recommend it. read more

Clockwise is one of the best escape rooms out there and the perfect spot for a fun-filled team activity. Ever since doing the Playground at The Escape Game, I've been searching for rooms with more light-hearted, playful themes. And Clockwise's colorful, culinary Candy Factory room definitely fit the bill! The rooms are very spacious and can comfortably accommodate up to 10 people, more than your average escape room and great for larger groups. The puzzles were creative, included fun props, required teamwork, and many could be solved in parallel, versus strictly following a linear sequence. There were also more than your average amount of puzzles, so you definitely get your money's worth! Medium difficulty was appropriate for the Candy Factory - some challenging puzzles but solvable with a clue or two. Check-in was smooth, and the room is conveniently located by the 19th St. BART station. While we successfully escaped, I'll definitely be back to try more rooms! read more

I really like Clockwise and highly recommend them! They are new so everything is super clean and functional, unlike some other escape rooms where things don't work or are kinda worn down. We did shipwreck yesterday and our game master, Oxford, was super nice and helpful! I really like the staff here! Shipwreck is their easiest one. We were a group of 5 but I think we could have solved it with a group of 3. I liked the puzzles and the premise of that one. We've also done the Hidden Temple with a group of 6. That one was more challenging and a bit bigger so 6 felt like a good number for that room. I thought that room was really cool! The design was unique. We will come back to do the Candy one. That one is their hardest. The other two were great, so I am sure that that one will be, too! Overall, I highly recommend Clockwise, for their awesome games and great staff (another shoutout for Oxford!). read more

We've come back a few times to do more rooms--most recently we did Candy Factory and had another good experience. Our game host, Oxford, was helpful and fun, like all of the other hosts we've had! I think Candy Factory is supposed to be the easiest of the 3, but we struggled the most with this one--we completed it, but needed about 3-4 nudges. All of the rooms here at Clockwise Oakland are designed reasonably well and in good physical shape. The majority of the puzzles are clever and I don't remember any that were too frustrating/difficult or required "moon logic". I would rank them as Hidden Temple best, followed by Candy Factory, then Shipwreck Island. All were fun and of above-average quality. The biggest flaw of escape rooms is when there are "unfun" puzzles, or failing physical parts/items, and there wasn't any of that here. Looking forward to some new rooms here! read more

Went to Clockwise Escape Room to celebrate a birthday!!! We were marooned on Shipwreck Island -- and I have to say -- everything was set up really well! Fun clues that were decorational and functiona. There were a TON o' twists & turns, but the build up o' clues was paced pretty well. I enjoyed when we figured something out & automatically opened something else. The MC (Asia) was there to help us w/ some helpful hints -- as we did run into some technical challenges due to some props having some in between moments w/ their lock combos &/or the clue itself threw us off.
