This is the first arcade I've been to in the Bay Area, we had one we would frequent in Washington. This one is much smaller, but I do like the fact that it is paid by the hour. I don't know if it is less or more expensive that way, but it's more convenient than carrying around a cup of quarters. The establishment is clean, and all the games were in working order. I also got my kid to play guitar hero, so that was pretty awesome. I'll probably come back, it's a pretty good time, in a pretty great neighborhood.

Came in with my husband and sons. Be prepared that everyone that comes in has to pay. I was a little taken aback but it was ok I not a gamer but since I had to pay I tried a few games. It is a small arcade that has mostly old school games but my teen sons didn't mind and found many games to play. My husband had a great time playing his old school favorites. We would visit again.

Tiny but well curated selection of games! It's clear how much love the owners put into their cabinets. I went for a private event (family birthday) here and was finally able to beat the Simpsons side scroller on free play. I like that the space is clean and has an impressive collection, but I would probably only just do another private event here because I still don't trust small spaces without diligently masked folks.

If you are a nerd (like me) and love the vintage 80-90s games and just games overall you will love this I have seen the staff help many people and just treat you well its great for everyone and at the front have great movie, trading cards, and pins! Its also has a great amount of space so I don't know why people are complaining

I had frequented the Hayward Location when they were there and can tell you that they really care about preserving the video games for generations to come. It's a shame that they are no longer in Hayward but if you are in Alameda, it's something to do on your bucket list or just to visit anytime. And.... That Famous Zelda Arcade Machine.... That's love put into classic gaming! I hope to be out in Alameda one day when time permits to relive my childhood again. Support local businesses!

Some cool nostalgic games. It was smaller than I expected, maybe 25 games. Several games were not functional.

Also each machine had a sign that gave some history regarding the art design/layout, or how the particular machine was unique/different etc. I tried to read more of the descriptions but got too caught up in just playing them that I didn't read and learn as much as I should have. Next time I come back I will try to read a bit more. The info provided was actually pretty interesting but I got dazzled by all the blinking lights and sounds. So fun! Speaking of sound- there is enough space between each machine that you aren't drowned out by the other machines or players. There are several rooms of machines so people can spread out. The only thing I would have changed is it is very dark inside (I am guessing to keep the place cool) so it was a little hard to see the action with my aged eyes. Younger people won't have any problems. I am guessing also this place must look amazing at night. We were there mid afternoon. The room with the older machines was nice and bright which was nice. The newer machines are in darker rooms to add to the mood? As we were there on a Friday afternoon, not too many kids/teenagers, but don't know what the clientele would be after school. Street parking is pretty good and there is off street metered parking around the corner. This is a fun place and I will come back and bring visitors.

I wish San Francisco had more places like this because the city is really lacking when it comes to true video game stores. We don't even have a Gamestop anymore in the heart of the city. The closest video game store is in Stonestown, which can be very inconvenient to get to. No emotion or friendliness - just take payment, hand over basket. Okay I guess. We went over to our lane and i was surprised how empty it was in there. We were the only ones playing for awhile until maybe three more sets of groups came in. What I didn't understand was why they placed these other groups so close to us? There were so many empty lanes that they could have spread us out more. A couple of young ladies asked if we wanted to buy any food but because we just came back from breakfast we declined. I went over to the bar to ask for water and they looked at me funny when I asked for a pitcher of water. I am paying for bowling, is water that hard to come by? Regarding the technical aspects: It's awesome that there are various levels of PC games available: 1. 486DX-33 setup with Doom, Hexen, Heretic, etc. Let the kids understand the +/- screen size and FPS limits 2. Mac with all the Marathons 3. C64 4. Apple II with Zork and the Oregon Trail 5. Laptop with SCUMM games 6. Win98 with Tribes, UT, etc Regarding the console options, many of the consoles are not playing real carts, but are emulators. There were NES, Wii U, Wii, PS2, Genesis, Master system, PS2, PS3 and Xbox setups. Some played real games, and some played from roms/images. This is fine, but if you are expecting to come and play 100% 1:1 setups, that is not the case. There were no Turbografx, Neogeo, 32x, Sega CD, Saturn, Jaguar, virtual boy, etc playable setups. However, some of these were on display. The lack of older (non emulated) consoles such as Intellivision, 2600, Odyssey being available to play hard games is unfortunate, but understandable given the age of the hardware. The amount of displayed boxed games for various consoles and PC was very impressive. My only disappointment was that the Steel Battalion setup seems to have been retired for public use. This is one of the most hardcore games for Xbox that most people would never have a chance to experience. No apology was given and they even tried to tell me that the cupcakes were like that when they got to them. Um, absolutely not. In the photo I'm attaching there's, three layers of cupcakes, all three layers had cupcakes tipped over. It also seems supremely silly to me that they won't allow any changes to food selection the day of the party but also won't allow you to bring in any food yourself. We also asked for more napkins and one worker gave us a napkin bin and then a minute later another worker came and admonished us saying we shouldn't have that napkin bin. Uh, one of the workers literally handed it to us? What is with the attitude here? The workers act like how you'd expect DMV workers to act. There also was no music that we could really hear in the play rooms and the atmosphere just felt really drab. Especially with things like the air hockey machine being broken. There's really not much help or organization at all. And it's also weird to be pressured to tip like $150 suggested (and going up!) when the staff does barely anything to help. We tipped out of pressure but it left such a sour taste in my mouth. I would not come back here ever to host a party and wouldn't recommend it to anyone either.
