To enter the building for your game, you have to fill out a waiver via QR, and then call someone to let you in. There is a photo op with various props in the corner of the lobby as well as branded apparel for purchase. We were told that we had three free clues, and any more would cost us time (you can do social media for extra time). We attended wizard school, which is rated medium/hard (same as the other ones at this location in Livermore). Based on the theming, bringing a Harry Potter fan in your group is mandatory - it's filled with tons of references to the series which was pretty neat to see. The first room we were in was surprisingly huge and intricate, and was also the room in which a majority of the game takes place. We solved the first several puzzles relatively well after we took some time to take in everything. It felt immersive, like we had been transported to a magical room in an alternate universe opposed to just a room that was decorated. The puzzles utilized pattern recognition, literal interpretation, symbols and translation, listening to instructions, riddles, interaction with room elements, hidden object games, astrology, and more. We've been to a few different escape rooms, and consider our experience at Limitless Escape Games to be one of the hardest we've done. You can tell one person put a lot of thought, passion, and ideas in the puzzles, as they were quite detailed, clever, and cohesive - progressing through the puzzles aided to the storytelling. That being said, the structure seemed a bit linear in that we had to focus on one puzzle at a time and couldn't do much until something was resolved. Our party of two ended up failing out of wizard school pretty horribly, as we just spent too long on one of the puzzles and didn't want to take a clue out of stubbornness. The puzzle we were trying to solve was... lagging. As well, we asked for a hint but didn't get it for a couple minutes because they weren't paying attention. Our game master kindly showed us how to resolve the rest of the room, though, and made us feel better by letting us know that the escape rate is roughly 1/3. He also told us that their other locations feature more high-tech rooms, such as the ones in Pleasanton which we hope to try in the future! We were offered a discount for the rest of the day if we wanted to book future games, which was basically the same price as their Groupon. While disappointed at our failure, we did really enjoy the thoughtfulness of the theming and puzzles offered here which do differ drastically from escape room chains. I'd say this experience was a lot harder than the typical escape room, so I wouldn't recommend it for complete beginners; that being said, it's amazing if you want a challenge! read more

Came here for a team outing and had a great experience. Our hostess checking us in was very sweet as she kindly greeted us as we entered and went through the rules and how to navigate the room. We did the Bank Heist Escape Room which had some challenges in there. My group of 9 finished in the last 17 minutes, just a few minutes short from the record. But we all had a great time, I'd love to come back and try their other rooms. I do regret missing their photo op accessories in the corner, I meant to return to that area to get a group photo and totally forgot. My family and I went here to celebrate my sister's 40th birthday! We had a good time. Our gamekeeper Jared (I think) added to the entertainment of the day. We did The Witch Hunt room and would like to go back when it becomes Christmas themed. This was a first time for all of us. There were 6 of us in the group and they allow up to 10. Five of us paid ahead online and the 6th registered on arrival. The hour went by fast. There's a place to put your belongings by the door inside of your game room. You may need the flashlight of your phone to see what you're reading. Don't forget your reading glasses if you use them. I did and it made seeing the padlock numbers challenging. Let the games begin!!! This was my first time coming to an escape room and honestly I was a bit apprehensive. Not because of COVID since they don't allow strangers to join in but because I'd never done one before. This was reflected when we were led into the room by a Game Master and given instructions. Yeah, where the heck do you start. We went to the Wizarding School room and I can tell you that despite my apprehension, it was so much fun! They allow 10 people in a room but we just had 4 as we were celebrating my friend's birthday at a smaller level this year. Before you enter the storefront, you need to fill out a waiver form via a QR code on a sandwich board out front. After you have each filled one out and if your whole party is there, you will call their business number listed on the board to let them know you're there and someone will direct you inside. Additionally, parking was easy to find on a Saturday afternoon as they have their own private lot. There is also a gender neutral restroom you can use prior to the start of your game. They had a clear bin inside the room where we could put purses, backpacks, keys, etc. They have definitely thought the process through and I would definitely recommend it! read more

Our game master was lovely, definitely enthusiastic about escape rooms and puzzles. WIZARD SCHOOL: We finished with 10 mins to spare (ok, we took 5 hints). The variety and quality of puzzles are outstanding; very clearly well thought-out and built extraordinarily well. And not all linear! Huge room, but doable for a party of 3. This was my first escape room experience ever so the review may be updated later on. That being said we did have a lot of fun. To start the host (Game master?) was very friendly upon arrival. She told us if we needed any clues or anything to just ask the camera and she would provide as needed. Luckily we didn't need anything from her. We did the Pirate themed room. You're given 60 min and we were able to escape after like 29 min. The puzzles weren't that difficult to figure out once we started down the right path for them. A few of them we did just stumble across by pure dumb luck. Overall I thought it was a pretty good time. Been here twice and both games we tried were pretty fun, although our favorite was The Wizard School. It had a nice variety of fun puzzles and was pretty cool! We used to come to Limitless Escape Games often pre-Covid and loved it. However, this was our first time visiting during/post Covid and were really disappointed in the experience. - they allowed 11 guests in our 10-player room. - there were way too many "cooks in the kitchen". The wizard room was way too small for that many guests. Some people just sat on the edges to stay out of the way and because there wasn't enough room for them to help with the tasks. - their policy states that they won't let you in if you arrive 10 mins late, but they allowed a couple to join 15 mins late. They missed the intro video and rules and didn't even know the objective of the room. - our game master kept giving us clues for tasks we'd already solved. Redundant and obvious he wasn't paying attention. - there is a disconnect between information on the website versus their phone line and emails. It was confusing to figure out their Covid policy and if the room was private or public. Next time we want to visit an escape room we will try out a different location. I recently did the new Monster Squad themed room, which I believe is temporarily taking the place of the bank heist room for the month. I was a bit disappointed in the room, as it was pretty plain. With a theme like Monster Squad, I was hoping it would be more decorative and spooky, but it was just an ordinary lit white room that obviously looked like it used to be a bank with a bank teller counter and vault. Even the posters that belonged to the Monster Squad theme had bank puns, which I felt was heavily out of place. Apparently, at night, there's an actor inside the room with you, but I think the room is a bit too small for that if you have a group of 4 or more. As for the clues, they were pretty tough and questionable at times. My team and I ran out of time because some of the clues were too much of a stretch that I don't think anyone would ever think of and we had an extra clue that wasn't supposed to be in the room, so that threw us off. Other than that, we still had a good time. This was the first room we lost to, but we'll try again some other time with a different theme. read more

What an engaging and fun place for a team building exercise on a weekday! I went here, with my colleagues, as everyone is now partially back in the office, and this Escape Room, was a perfect opportunity to get everyone collaborating with one another again. My group decided to try the Dimond Heist escape room, which was very very fun, and to me, the most realistic and practical room to try. The room itself was nice and cool, with all things you can move, open, and manipulate. We got stuck once in awhile, and the hostess gives out clues on the tv, if prompted, and we finally escaped with 1 minute left on the clock (1hr) reservation. Came here on a Sunday for a pre-birthday celebration with a group of 4. We did the Pirate themed room, trying to lift the curse of the Kraken to escape! It was a very immersive experience. The decor and puzzles were great! Ive played many puzzles games, but this was still challenging! You get an extra 5 minutes if you take a photo and tag them! Without doing this, I don't think we would've made it! We needed those extra 5 minutes since we escaped with only 0:57 seconds to spare! So thankful to our clue-master! My visit to Limitless was my third escape room experience. My friends brought me here for my birthday, as I had really enjoyed the challenge and fun that they bring. It's so much better to spend a few hours with friends, working together and communicating vs. sitting silently watching a movie. Before this, I had completed both a small town and a well known big name escape room. My first comment about Limitless is that it was very challenging. We were almost half hour in and hadn't figured out more than one puzzle. I have a friend that is afraid to try an escape room for fear of feeling stupid and I told him not to start with the Sherlock room here. I would highly recommend asking for a clue if you are stumped and have no idea what to do next. Now, if you feel like you haven't been challenged enough - this one is for you. I recognized that my friends were getting frustrated and asked for a couple of clues when needed and we were able to escape with 3 minutes left. Other rooms I have done have lead the group on a fairly obvious path of progression, i.e. once all puzzles in the room are solved a door opens to the next set of challenges. The Sherlock room here had no clear direction, it's more of a choose your own path, with locks everywhere. It's a very dark room, which makes reading some of the small text difficult to decipher. I'd recommend bringing in a small light. The complimentary photo and props are a very nice touch but our picture isn't of us - it's another group, with our team name/time/room. Not that big of a deal though, as they were happy to snap a picture with one of our phones. Everyone here, all of the staff were incredibly nice and helpful. read more

Second time going to an escape room, and it was fun! I'm not from the Livermore area, so this review is comparing this escape room location to others in the San Jose area. Our theme was a bank heist, stealing a fat diamond gem. It was clean, and simple, but my friends said it was a bit TOO simple--almost like it was low budget compared to the other ones they've gone to before, and at the same cost. We were given 1 hour, but finished in 30 minutes with no clues, which felt a bit too fast, especially for a medium-hard level room. They're also severely understaffed--one person was running 3 rooms at once. Overall, I don't think I'd drive an hour away to do an escape room here, but it was a good experience here! read more

Due to covid you have to register online (well that's what I did) and you have a 10 person limit at $32 per person. Nice you get you the place the day of you scan the QR code and sign a waiver. Once your group has arrived you call the place and say your group is ready and they ask you to come in and someone will meet you in the lobby. I had like 2 people who where late so they where allowed to walk in after we had already started the game. You get a hour to solve the problems. My friends and I have visited Limitless two times over the past couple months and have had an amazing experience. It is in Livermore, and from what I can tell on Yelp, one of the highest rated escape room companies in the Bay Area (they also have a location in Stockton). They have four-themed rooms (check their website for room descriptions). You have one-hour to "escape" by using props, puzzles, riddles, keys, etc. found throughout the room. If you have never done an escape room before, the way to escape is quite arbitrary and you really have to think outside the box. You can ask for help via the room's camera and an employee will relay clues to you through a screen. The rooms here are decorated nicely and each have 2-3 entranceways to lead you to different parts of the room. They can accommodate up to groups of 10 and you have to book in-advance online. Depending on how big your group is, price per person can range $35-$40. You can also check Groupon where their deal is around $20-$25 per person. It can be a bit pricey for one-hour, but the experience is very unique, interactive, engaging, and super fun! Highly recommend if you are looking to try something new and challenging with friends. read more

We did the Sherlock Holmes.. we did it in 45 mins.. apparently the room has only 35% success rate.. so really glad we went with the group that named itself "Mr Worldwide"! My only complain is that 10 people were way too many for the kind of clues and room, the room size was small too. At many points some of us were just standing since it felt like extra! Also the game we went for had people who never did an escape room and people who Have been to couple of escape rooms.. the combination was not a balanced one for a Game level like this one. My friend purchased a Groupon for the Pirate Escape Room. Since it was expiring soon, he, his son, our friend and I all went together. Even though we didn't completely escape the room, we still had fun trying to figure out how to escape. All of the clues are there so if you all have different specialties, then you can definitely finish. I think if we had about an hour more, we would've finished. One hour would suffice if you're quick. I tried an online escape room and we ended up taking much longer than they say it takes so I think it depends on the group you go with. This particular escape room had two rooms for you to escape from. It's pretty fun and it definitely tests you. I would want to see how the other rooms are set up but if you're looking for something different, check it out. read more

My church small group of 6 came here last Sunday to do the Bank Heist, and we had a blast! Group was 2 young adults, 2 boomers, and 2 Gen X (for context of what the puzzles are like). We got out with 4 mins to spare, with about 3-4 of us being key contributors. We used 2 hints. My husband and I have done maybe 2-3 escape rooms before (so we recognize patterns, but not experts). Will try to do this review without spoiling Pros: - $20 per person (I'm not sure if my friend got a deal for this) which I think is a reasonable price for the experience! - I feel like the room was very well done, not cheaply put together. There was one clue that was out of order but everything else was spectacular, with super cool technology to activate next steps etc. - Loved the theme of the bank heist (you're trying to steal a diamond and get out in time) - Clues weren't SUPER easy and you had to sort of think outside the box, but not so difficult and long where you get pissed off. I would say it's an intermediate level (I think kids would have some trouble, but a really experienced escape room fanatic might think it's too easy. This hit perfectly in the middle for us). - Easy check in process at the beginning with QR code. I would recommend getting there 5-10 mins beforehand if possible to get your party together. Cons: - I felt really bad for the one girl that was working all 3 rooms at a time, it didn't affect us because she happened to be free both times we asked for a hint, but there could be a wait if you're asking for a hint and she's helping another room. Overall 10/10 would come back! I think the ideal # of people would be 4 for Bank Heist, some parts for us felt a little crowded with 6 people. My first time doing an escape room! The room is fairly small and we only had a group of 5. I can't imagine even more people doing it. We did the pirate adventure and I personally found bits of it difficult. The time goes by so fast, I think we needed 4 clues total and still didn't make it out. The lobby isn't huge. It's confusing that you have to do the waiver outside before calling to go inside. The room itself was fun and really made me think outside of the box. Went back to limitless escape for our second room doing the Wizarding School! Shoutout to Kaegan (sorry if I misspelled the name!) for all the patience accommodating my family. The room was well built and one of the harder rooms I've done. We were able to get out with 12 seconds left! Remember to repost them on social media before starting your room to get an extra 5 minutes! I did the Bank Heist here before and that room was definitely bigger than the wizard room, but both were really fun! I'd recommend doing the wizard room with no more than 5 people otherwise it can get cramped and hectic with the puzzles to do. We already booked to do the Kraken next since you get 20% off if you book for a future room right after you finish. Can't wait to come back! read more

Great fun! Came here twice now. Once with a friend, and a second time with my family: 4 brothers and their spouses. We didn't know what to expect and thought it would either be scary or boring. It was neither. It was exciting and got us all moving and thinking and using our intellect to solve the mystery so that we could open the exit and escape. No phones/cameras allowed but they can provide you with a flashlight and you're allowed to bring your reading glasses should you need them. They explain everything to you in the beginning and if you need help along the way, they will give you as many hints as you want (but what fun is that). You have one hour to solve the mystery! What if you have to use the bathroom? Don't worry! You can go out and use the bathroom anytime you want. But just use it before hand so you don't use up your time. An hour seems like a lot of time but it isn't! This is a great team building activity with anyone. I really enjoyed both times going. Have patience. Have fun! I've done escape rooms in the past in Los Angeles, but this was my first escape room in the area. Our work group came here as a team development exercise. I had a lot of fun doing the heist with this group particularly because it was a different group dynamic that was much healthier than the work group that I've done this type of experience with in the past. First, they recommend not bringing anything into the escape room once you start. They have locker rooms for you to use, but if you have any really large items, you might want to think about leaving them in your vehicle. The escape room itself was very digitized. They had a little video in the beginning that explained the instructions and then the timer started counting down. The point of the escape room is to work as a group to solve different puzzles to get you clues and eventually solve your task. What I liked about this activity is that you could ask for help along the way if you got stuck. Our group broke out of the heist and we had a blast (literally and figuratively)!!! Pros: -multiple rooms in the heist scenario to solve -complimentary lockers to put personal items in -free parking lot outside -restroom available -fun puzzles -great way to work as a group -multiple props for picture taking Cons: -I've been to other escape rooms where they will walk the group through each puzzle at the end so that people who were working on different puzzles get to see the whole picture. Had my son's 8th birthday party here. We reserved the Wizards room and the Pirates room. The puzzles were really creative and challenging and the decor in the rooms were well done. There kids contributed, but definitely required adult guidance and extra clues. They had a blast even though they didn't escape in the end. Because this location doesn't have a party room, we arranged with the owners of Grounded Coffee and Local Delights on the corner of the same shopping complex to rent their space. Sadly had a very negative experience here this afternoon. Attempting to solve a puzzle in the 'Wizard School' room, and it simply won't work. We used all three clues on it and received instructions we were already doing -- because the problem was the puzzle was malfunctioning. Finally got it to work randomly after about twenty minutes. Because we burned so much time on it, we didn't even get to finish the room. The guy working there offered no apology at the end and insisted the puzzle was working correctly. He kept trying to demonstrate, but couldn't get it to work himself. ‍ I'm glad I had better experiences with Clockwise Games, or it might have put me off escape rooms entirely. Ive done the wizard room and the pirate room. The pirate room was better but neither were that memorable. Overall a bit underwhelming. The set is decent in both but the maintenance is lacking on some puzzles and a couple things look like they are simply not part of the daily cleaning(like the inside of the treasure chest) but the lobby and bathroom are clean. My main issue was the host and the fact they make her do 3 rooms at once. She can't effectively watch and reset 2-3 games and give hints while also working the front desk. The intro video let's you know the host might not respond very quickly cause they might be distracted with other games. That's ridiculous! I could also hear other games coming out and people in the lobby cause the walls were so thin and all I could think was "well, we're not getting a clue for a while now." The host seemed overwhelmed and unhappy. She was trying to put on an almost decent face but you could tell she didn't want us there. I believe limitless wants to save money by only having to pay one employee regardless of employee safety or the guaranteed lack of customer service that entails. Our host seemed so detached by the end, she claimed she wasn't allowed to walk us through the end of the game even though we were in the middle of the last puzzle before the timer was up. C'mon, the least you could do is let me know how the game ended especially since we spent how much time just meandering around waiting for the group in the lobby to be done so we could get our clue. She also didn't offer to take our picture at the end and when I mentioned it, she begrudgingly did it. I almost don't blame the behavior on her cause she's probably so pressed for time that there's no room for her to even do her job correctly. The only positive I see thus far is that it's the cheapest escape room Ive been to in the area as of now. But the price seems to reflect the service, so not really worth it. I've done over 30 rooms and worked at an escape room before. Although this isn't my least favorite, it's in my bottom 5. There's plenty of better escape rooms in the area, especially if you're an enthusiast or want a memorable experience. However, this place could be good for a cheap and decent intro into escape rooms while also saving the better rooms for later when you've gotten some experience. How is she supposed to have a break, effectively multitask 3 rooms/lobby/front desk, clean, and reset rooms all by herself!?
