Last year I scheduled a workshop for my 50th birthday with the old owner and it fell through (their issue, not mine) days before the event. Everybody received their refund and I was bummed. I recently saw an old email from them and I decided to reach out. Rachel, the new owner, called me that same day and expressed how sorry she was that happened. She offered for me to have another birthday workshop and she did not charge the people that signed up last year. She even bought pizzas and salad for the celebration. She went well above and beyond. I organized a "team building" event for my workplace here recently with 20+ people and we had a blast! Rachael (the owner) was super responsive and patient with my delayed responses (it was difficult to corral RSVPs/get an accurate headcount, haha :( ). We had a 2-hour time-slot and got links to choose our own individual projects that also included a space to ask who we'd like to sit next to during the event (was a nice touch, hehe). She checked in with me on whether we were celebrating anything/anyone and if there was any type of music we'd want/not want to listen to as well. There are a ton of different projects available -- I decided to do a floral tray, but there were keyracks, wooden signs, picture "frames" and more to choose from. We started off by sanding down our projects, then chose our own stains + the paint colors for the project. The staff goes through everything step-by-step and they prepare the stencils for you. We were able to bring our own food + they offer water/soft drinks/alcoholic beverages for a separate cost. (You can also BYOB + pay a corkage fee.) I appreciated the consideration and all the personal touches. This place is a hidden gem!!! We had so much fun at this networking event, I will be back with friends and family! The staff was amazing, sweet, funny and so helpful. There was enough room for a group of 40 and more if there were more people. They don't have food but you can bring food. They have alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks, and outdoor patio space, just all around nice set up. And the pricing is great! You can have your own party of 8 or more or you can join an upcoming classes. Don't get me started on all the Boards!! it was so hard to choose what I wanted, like I said, I will be back! read more

My bestie and I had such a good time at board and brush. We were initially unsure as to whether this would be our thing especially because it's higher in price compared to a paint and sip. BUT to be fair this is with wood so I'm assuming cost for them is more expensive. We decided to pick a project and just go for it and I am so glad we did! It is plenty of time to complete a nice looking project and the staff were so helpful with giving suggestions on colors and stains for the wood. Our only complaint is that drinks were separate. We thought it would at least include 1 drink in the price but it is actually a separate charge which was kind of a bummer. read more

I was invited here to celebrate my friend's birthday, and had an absolutely wonderful time. Here's what I loved in no particular order. Huge variety of projects to choose from, plus many colors, stains, and options to really personalize what you create Very friendly staff Extremely fun vibe, creative energy, and music Relaxed atmosphere, and help when needed ( perfect positioning of decals intimidated me) It was an unexpected stress reliever: sanding, hammering, staining, applying decals, painting, peeling, all of it was quite therapeutic. Now, I can't guarantee this for everyone, but on the particular night that we attended, all of the other tables/parties were ready to have fun, and we all had fits of laughter by the end. I actually love my project, and so does my husband. There are snacks and beverages available for purchase, or you can BYOB and pay a corkage fee. I have never done anything like this before, they have a great selection that you choose when you pay online. The website was easily navigated. It was easy to find and we scored with parking right in front, I can see how parking may be hard since it is right in that busy part of the area. It seems like we had a full house, but they were all very helpful, she explained and showed us everything. Each table had a helper and they had so many options for everything. All the staff was great and helpful, it does get a bit crowded when trying to navigate in the room, with all the people and projects. I would definitely do it again. read more

We had our company holiday outing here for the second time and Billy was an absolute joy. Two of us had issues trusting the process and thought we had made mistakes with our stain choice but Billy was so quick to come up with techniques that completely transformed our signs into something we loved! Fun afternoon with some girlfriends to create a woodworking project. We had a helper assigned to each table to help us through each of the steps. And of course I chose the hardest design but our helper (I forgot her name!), she was a savior in helping me. I chose a sunset scene which seemed pretty easy to do but yikes, there were several layers to this stencil where you had to wait for the paint to dry before moving onto the next step. All in all, my project turned out nicely and it is now hanging up in my hallway. I would definitely come back here again to do another project! The staff were awesome. read more

After my mom contacted the owner of the business and expressed her unhappiness with her experience and project, an employee contacted her and sent the nicest email refunding her back her money, as well as giving her a coupon to come back in to hopefully have a better experience. Today I received a call from the owner (who I presume saw my initial Yelp review) and was very apologetic over my experience. She invited me to come back and try another project and was confident my experience would be much better the next time. She also said she was having a meeting with her employees to go over the issues I raised in my review. I look forward to going back and giving them a second try! The owner doesn't seem to be interested in promoting the business. Very unprofessional manner of communication. I do not recommend tote project at all. The pictures of the bag on the web site do not correspond to what you get. We paid $45 for what looks like a nice sturdy bag which holds it's shape. In class we got some crappy fabric totes with wrinkles, probably bought in a dollar store. The designs are only the ones presented on the web site, which are either seasonal greeting or something suitable for small kids project only. We paid in full for the group of 12 people but couple of us couldn't make it. I was told that there was no refunds and we will get a gift certificate. Later in class we were told that they would return money back to card which never happened even after reminding the owner couple times. Not a surprise since I had to call 5 times in order to pay and register for the class. First time I see such unprofessional behavior from the owner of the business. I will make sure my coworkers and friends never go to this location. read more

I chose to have my 40th birthday party here with 24 of my closest girlfriends, and I don't regret it one bit. We booked a private party on a Saturday afternoon. We had such a blast creating our projects while drinking wine, dancing to the music, and having lots of laughs. We were a pretty loud and energetic group and the staff was so patient with us, and they helped us keep up when we were getting distracted by all the fun. It was easy to register online, and there are so many designs to choose from. The location is a bit hard to spot from the street, but once park and walk up to it you will see it tucked away down a semi-alleyway on the side of the building. She took notes and said she would be discussing my concerns with the staff at their next meeting. She then invited me to come back for a do-over. So much fun!! I took my mom for a wine night workshop as a Mother's Day present and we both had an amazing time! JEN WAS FANTASTIC! She helped us with our projects and we even made two extra on the spot. Jen took her time with us and was so patient when we asked for assistance. Very detail-oriented and did not rush us out like the lady running the class kind of did :/ But Jen was fun and knowledgeable and our boards would not have turned out the way they did without her! I just wandered through to check out this new business only to be greeted by a rude owner on the phone who acted put out to have to get off her phone call. I requested some information on making a custom piece which she immediately assumed meant using bad language and gave me a lecture on how she has the right to refuse service. She did not ask what language I wanted on my board, she made an assumption because I said, "I want to use my own language of family values on a board compared to the ones I see in Target". Her response was literally after the first few minutes of me being in her business. We were polite and not at all rude. She was extremely unprofessional. My husband and I recently attended a "pick your project" class for a much overdue and needed date night. We had so much fun from the start. The staff was so friendly and helpful throughout the entire process. I am not very creative or artistic but the staff helped by suggesting different options and answered all our questions. The overall vibe is very relaxed and fun. Also we felt very safe with the COVID protocols they have in place, small group and everyone kept their masks on. Went to the Board & Brush in Livermore yesterday for a work team building. I was a bit apprehensive about this outing......but it turned out to be a really good time! We were greeted by Dina and Noel. They were wonderful. Both were there every step of the way demonstrating and helping as needed with out projects. This is such a fun place to go for a girls night, birthday or if you're just feeling crafty! I've been 3 times now and the first time I had an issue you with my board not turning out. The manager, Dinah, went above and beyond to make it right for me and it was truly appreciated. Twice I've had Jen and Megan as the staff working and they are so friendly, helpful and really go out of their way to make sure you're taken care of. Livermore was a whole different experience than other B&B locations. It was absolutely packed-30+ people. The helpers all seemed very annoyed at being there, the group instructor was downright rude, had attitude and did not explain things well at all. The table helpers were a bit condescending if you asked questions and they gave very little instruction. Any concerns about crooked stencil application, bubbles, colors etc were dismissed ("it doesn't MATTER!"in a surly teen tone) and yet, it did matter. Bubbles that they told us to leave resulted in seepage of paint-even though we followed rules using very little paint and dabbing. At least one person was given the wrong stain and another told the wrong color to use. Colors we wanted we were told we couldn't do-even though the next table over had the same thing. Everything was very rushed. The music was SO loud we couldn't have a conversation with the people right next to us at all (and we had all been looking forward to catching up), couldn't hear the helper and the helper couldn't hear us. It's also garishly bright. All the stain bottles were drippy and messy. Some stations didn't have any cups. They work hard to sell you an additional small project for $25 (which was a good deal), so then the helpers are spending time assisting with those instead of everyone getting the help they need with their original project. I felt like it really added chaos and lack of help. At the end of the night, other tables were offered bags, we were not. I ended up running around trying to find some for our group. For $65, I expect to be treated kindly, have fun and come away with a great piece. All of my friends who attended are nice, smart and crafty, but we were treated like we were all dumb and inept. We left feeling stressed, disappointed and wishing we had just gone out for drinks instead. I think if they kept attendance to about 20, allowed an extra 1/2 hour if they're going to hard-sell a second project, turned the music down, and talked to the staff about being cheerful, patient, and encouraging they'll do fine. It's a cute location, tucked behind the Holiday shop (which is amazing!). For reference, I've been to another Board and Brush location-which was a wonderful, fun, relaxing night: about 16 people, excellent instruction; super helpful, great attitudes, and quiet music. I'm not looking for a refund, trying to ruin their business or needing to talk with the manager. I just feel like they should know. read more

I went for a girls night with my sisters and we had a great time. It is such a great concept and we had so much fun creating our own masterpieces. The assistant that was assigned to our table was very sweet and although is was her first day she tried her best to be helpful. I will say, my review is only three stars because we all found the owner or manager to be quite rude and condescending, even reprimanding her employees in front of customers- very unprofessional. The other assistants also had an attitude and never even gave us a greeting when we checked in, it was our first time, so a "welcome!" would've been nice. Nobody wants a snarky attitude on a fun night out. We definitely would like to come back for more creations, but we will be checking out the Walnut Creek location next time- I've heard better things about the staff there. read more
