Update 7/19: We booked another experience yesterday. We did the Stranger Things VR. Miles was suppose helpful while we were there. Ensuring worked beautifully from the time we walked in to the end. Our experience was so much better this time.

Second time coming and this experience was a lot better than the first. Our first experience was 5 for vibes and overall attitude and fun with our group, but we had a lot of technical difficulties this was about 3 years ago shortly after it opened when there was only 2 or 3 games to choose from. We had to constantly stop our game due to a player or two not having any vision, and their weapons not working. This time, there were no issues! Staff did a double check before we got in and after we were in the games. We had people who needed help with getting the game in focus but other than that was perfect. We played the Squid Games games and it was super fun! Very approachable for a mix of players and abilities.

Awesome Yelp Elite event hosted by Gina at Sandbox VR Emeryville! The Squid Game VR was so much fun and I got a nice workout out of it! Thanks to the Yelp team for the catered goodies and food! I would totally come back for a birthday party or date. Awesome experience!

What a cool event space. Compared to Escape rooms, this is so much more fun, interactive, engaging, and highly collaborative. Book your experience online. Plenty of spots are always open but book ahead for ease of check in. Once you walk in, you sign in at the tablet kiosk. An employee will walk up to confirm your booking and prepare you for your tactical gear. They'll also photograph a selfie of you and allow you to name your group. Why? Well you'll see why. It's very cool. Get into it and don't be afraid. Our first experience as a family started with the Squid Games experience. The second time we went with deadwood phobia. Deadwood phobia was soo sickkkk! I had so much fun. I thought I'd be scared out of my mind but my fight or flight mode instantly kicked in with an urge to save and protect my family. My 5 year old also enjoyed it. While it can seem traumatizing for a young one, he did well. The only small but not large issue was that he couldn't hold the faux assault rifle upright but that's because he's a child. It was such a thrill. There's nothing like it. It's a radical experience. Tips: Yell out pause if anything feels uncomfortable or not working. Things to Know: There is always someone monitoring your entire game. At the very end, you'll receive a video of your role from a virtual and reality view. The cool part is you can share it or save it as a memory. Another one for the books! Can't wait for new games and challenges to hit for another night out of fun.

Are you pet friendly? Like if they are just inside a closed stroller or per bag, would it be okay to bring them with us?

Perhaps call, there's no actual place to store things except the cubbies in the actual vr room. Not sure whether the scream of enjoyment would be suitable for fur babies.

We sucked but took it in stride and still had a really good. Currently there are 6 gaming rooms, though more rooms are in the works. The games offered in each room change depending on how many people are in your group. And there are different levels, so once you beat the game, you can return to the same room to advance to the next level. If you fail, you leave the room for it to reset and then can return to try again as many times as you want. I'd never done escape rooms or anything like this, and was really impressed at the sophistication and technology. You get 1 hour and 45 minutes to play, and time flies fast. Came on a Friday night at 8pm and there were only about 2 other groups. Free parking in lot. The man showing us around (Tim?) was really nice. Overall a great experience to try. I'll be back with other friends for sure.

We beat at least level 1 on all the rooms except one--the marble contraption. I enjoyed that there was a good mix of skills required in each of the rooms. Some of the physical ones really tired me out! I think this would be a good birthday party activity for 7/8th grade kids and above, as long as they're semi-mature and the type of kids that enjoy puzzles.

Completed waivers, selected her play time, and purchased my daughter's admission ticket ($24.94) along with a pair of grip Bay Play socks ($4.00) online. A chaperone ticket is required ($0), additional chaperones are $5 each. Adults either wear their own socks or shoe covers inside of play area. On a Monday at 4:30p there was only one other car parked. Inside there was one child at play. As the day went on a couple more children joined. The kids all played together as one, which was heart warming to see. The restrooms are located at the rear of the play space, at the end of the Ninja Warrior Jungle structure. There are two major play structures, one for bigger kids to climb, swing and play, the other for smaller kids to do the same with play tailored to their petite size. There are three jump spaces with two attached to what appears to be VR simulated devices. There are lots of arcade games for the kids to play, at an additional charge. Outside food is not permitted. Small snacks are allowed. There are two vending machines at the entrance of the play area - one drinks and the other snacks. There are four massage chairs for chaperones to exist in while the littles play. It accepts mobile pay and cards. One chaperone was enjoying herself during our time, eyes shut. There are 2-3 tables at the front of Bay Play with 4 additional tables at the rear closest to the restrooms. For $25, our daughter was able to play from the time of arrival to close (7p). This is definitely an option to consider for play dates or to pop in for something to do. It is located on the border of Emeryville and Oakland. Bay Play is embedded within a neighborhood. There is street parking directly in front of the location.

Off the bat, I want to say this is one of the more affordable indoor playgrounds I've been to (some I've gone to will charge for adults?!) and there was no time limit (some places give you a time limit of how long you can play for) so that was a plus. They do require you to purchase their socks (can't be grippy socks from anywhere else) but even with the socks and day pass, I want to say it was only $35? The kids loved running around the swing ropes, the indoor playground with slide, and the big bouncy thingy under the bouldering wall. My only concern about the bouncy thingy by the bouldering wall is there aren't any safety rails or things around it and I can't tell if it's safer with or without it but I definitely needed to stay close by in case he bounced off the entire cushion thingy. If you have highly sensitive little ones or neurodivergent kiddos, this place may be a tad overstimulating with the arcade right smack dab in the middle. Like other reviewers had mentioned, it would be nice if the arcade was slightly away from the physical play so that kids aren't distracted/overstimulated by the arcade screens. We did eventually end our outing at the arcades (spent another $40 on the game card...sigh) but luckily we won a big jackpot from one of the games to make it all worth it! Of note, you can't really wear your shoes in the bathroom which is kinda gross so bear that in mind. All in all, definitely one of the better indoor playgrounds in the Bay Area!

So the front room has the oldest machines and subsequent rooms get progressively newer machines. For the 1 time fee you get unlimited play (so no digging for quarters), there are in and out privileges so you can play, leave to eat etc, and return to play some more. The staff is very nice, friendly and knowledgeable. Only a few machines weren't working, but they had signs so you knew, but almost all of them were working and available to play. Also each machine had a sign that gave some history regarding the art design/layout, or how the particular machine was unique/different etc. I tried to read more of the descriptions but got too caught up in just playing them that I didn't read and learn as much as I should have. Next time I come back I will try to read a bit more. The info provided was actually pretty interesting but I got dazzled by all the blinking lights and sounds. So fun! Speaking of sound- there is enough space between each machine that you aren't drowned out by the other machines or players. There are several rooms of machines so people can spread out. The only thing I would have changed is it is very dark inside (I am guessing to keep the place cool) so it was a little hard to see the action with my aged eyes. Younger people won't have any problems. I am guessing also this place must look amazing at night. We were there mid afternoon. The room with the older machines was nice and bright which was nice. The newer machines are in darker rooms to add to the mood? As we were there on a Friday afternoon, not too many kids/teenagers, but don't know what the clientele would be after school. Street parking is pretty good and there is off street metered parking around the corner. This is a fun place and I will come back and bring visitors.

Yes, there were a lot of awesome figures and statues to see that bring back some nostalgia to when I was kid. However, a lot of the toys both in package, on card, or loose were a bit overpriced. The lady behind the counter wasn't helpful as we walked in and around the front in for about 10-15 minutes before she even said hi. After that she just walked around putting things away and sat behind the counter. Now what's upsetting? My girlfriend found this 3-pack of Shattered Glass Transformers (Evil Dinobots) from SDCC. I clearly asked if I could open them and she said they were new. I didn't like that answer and how snappy she was with me. I kept them in the box until I got my new display case and Lord behold, they're all broken. All 3 figures wastes are popped off and will not plug into the bodies or stay in place, Grimlock's dino head is snapped, the plus to keep Slag's dino head on its body are broken, and some of Snarl's scales are broken.
