Their surfskis are super nice. They have V5, V8s, V10s. You can start all the way from beginner and make your way to the olympics on V10s. The boats are in brand new condition. The paddles are grat. The club also has two functional outriggers but no paddles. But at least they let you paddle them, unlike all the annoying outrigger Hawaiian clubs who won't let you touch their single Outriggers for fear you might break something. I was mainly an outrigger guy, so I loved this place. The people in the club were great. Mainly Chris Flynn, Operations Director. He let me fix the outriggers and paddle them. When there was an issue with a former club taking away my paddle he made them give it back. Anything you ask and he is happy to give it a try, you need parts, classes. So, if you have some spare change and want to go paddle BIAC is the place. Fantastic Local Waterfront Spot for Families and Teams…read more This is a wonderful local gem if you are looking for a fun outdoor activity. We have visited a few times with our kids for paddle boating and sailing, and I have also successfully organized corporate team-building events with the paddle boats here. Online booking is very easy (you can also book in person) and the prices are very affordable. While we haven't tried them yet, they also offer sailing lessons and summer camps. Previously, we loved grabbing a bite to eat on the outdoor patio of the adjacent restaurant, which is currently closed for renovations--we are highly anticipating its reopening! Additionally, they recently demolished the old playground boat structure, and while we aren't sure if it will be replaced, there are still plenty of great grassy areas perfect for picnicking or simply watching the boats on the water. I would recommend this as a versatile spot for small group outings. Please note that you have to drive quite a bit in from Shoreline, no dogs are allowed (what a bummer), and parking can be a bit rough if you don't get here early.

Everyone I have met through the club is extremely nice and fun loving. It is a great way to get out of the city for a weekend out on the water as well as meet and hang out with other people with the same interests. The weekends are well organized everyone has a great time at the parties on Saturday night at the campsite. I'm shocked at the one negative review stating the group is 'lousy' and 'racist' - I honestly think that those comments are completely off base. People of all races and ages (although adults only) participate and have a good time. If you are a skier or wakeboarder and are looking for more opportunities to get out on the water (and have fun while doing it), this club is definitely for you. Fun spot to come for a hike if you want to see some horses and experience a variety of scenery…read more You start in a pretty big open hilly field, this area is mostly brush, though there is a clear trail. There's a tree at the top of the hill, though no shade other than that. This is the area where we saw the horses. We tried following along with All Trails, but the route on there did a lot of figure 8's and was hard to really comprehend. Luckily with the guidance from other hikers we were able to extend our hike out of this immediate area and make it back to the car. The trail continues out of this fenced in area with multiple different ways to go. There is some signage, though it's rather old and you can tell that some of the directional signs have fallen off. We headed down the hill, out of the gate, next to a house with a vineyard, then down into a tree covered path that went next to the mostly dried up creek. This area was nice and shaded, a little steep in some areas, but not too bad. I liked that you had a number of different routes you could take to make this hike longer or shorter depending on your adventure, but more and better signage would be a welcome addition. We parked at the trail head, it was a pretty big lot with a lot of spots. By the time we got back, it was pretty packed, but there was another area before you enter with some extra parking if this area is full. We were pretty surprised to see so many cars, as the trail didn't feel crowded and we often went long stretches without seeing anyone.

It's a wonderful experience and I thought I'd provide a few highlights, a couple of which are quite funny: 1) For meals, all of the campers are brought into the large cafeteria and assigned to tables that fit about a dozen kids apiece. Because of the sheer amount of students there, chances are good you'd only be sitting with one or two kids from your class, so it was a good opportunity to socialize with kids from other schools. One such kid at my table was a guy we'll call Pete. Pete was a nice kid. He really liked the eggs they served for breakfast. He also had a laugh that mimicked a hybrid cross between an elephant seal and a failing bus transmission. One day I was sitting next to him for breakfast and someone told a joke and he belted out the most obnoxiously hilarious HAWHAWHAWHAWHAWHAW I've ever heard. I remember it to this day. If you're a fellow 90s kid compadre, think of the surfer dude boyfriend from the movie Prehysteria and how he laughed. HAWHAWHAWHAWHAWHAW. 2) One kid in my bunk was also from my school, we'll call him Chris. Chris had a mouth on him like nothing I had ever heard up to that point in my young life. One night, one of the prefects we'll call them, was making her routine rounds and came into our bunk. Her and Chris started up a conversation and Chris was commenting how he has the same watch that she was wearing. They really seemed to be getting along. 10 minutes later she abruptly tells Chris to go to Gyro (camp's administrative office, the equivalent of getting sent to the principal's office). I have no clue what transpired in those 10 minutes, but Chris stormed out. A few minutes later the prefect caught up with Chris and told him to rejoin his bunkmates. He was so confused and angry and, being the little mouth he was, swore up a storm. I'm guessing he used some naughty language while chatting with her which led to his ejection. It was hilarious. HAWHAWHAWHAWHAWHAWHAW. 3) During our bunk's skit on Thursday night we did a goofy dancing number where we all fell down in front of the entire camp. It was funny. HAWHAWHAWHAWHAWHAW. 4) Campers were assigned to smaller groups to do activities with. The leader of my group was a fella named Lucero. Nice guy. Great sense of humor and worked famously with us kids. Gave me the last cookie during one of the lunches. He signed all of our yearbooks with the note "don't forget to be an earth keeper!" There was an overweight kid in our group, we'll call him AJ, and he mistakingly read it as "don't forget to be an earthquake!" It was hilarious (HAWHAWHAWHAW). Lucero, if you ever read this, you definitely helped make Jones Gulch an unforgettable experience. 5) The most notable thing I remember was again in the cafeteria. Half the camp was out doing activities and the other half was inside for lunch. It was very quiet, and that's when Solar Steve himself, the head administrator of the camp, strolls in with his guitar and starts singing. What unraveled was something that I'm in awe of even today: Solar Steve not only sang and played his guitar, but he got US to sing along with him. I've never seen that before. On the spot, completely impromptu, struts in and just gets us all to start singing. Willingly I might add! How does someone do that??? It was like something out of The Simpsons or South Park! I even remember the frickin' song; the chorus he had us sing went like "Sol-ar En-er-gy!" What an unbelievable talent. Doing a search for him I don't see him on the Jones Gulch website anymore, but it does appear he was principal of the camp up until recently and is still very active in San Mateo County youth programs. Yes, we all kissed a banana slug and no, it was not that gross. Learned a lot, too. Was really a great overall experience. HAWHAWHAWHAWHAWHAW.
