Turns out I wasn't so sure, and he gave me some very helpful tips. The man can talk about arrow ballistics for hours. If you do bring in arrows to cut or tune, it's a good idea to bring your bow so you can shoot on-site. Probably going to come back for more help in the future. read more

Learning a new sport can be a little intimidating. My thoughtful boyfriend gifted me a bow and arrow set for my birthday last month. We went to Archery Only today to setup our equipment. I didn't realize how labor intensive it was to setup a bow to fit the person who is using it. The kind gentlemen behind the service counter who assisted us was Roger. Roger spent quite a bit of time precisely setting up our equipment to ensure that we would have a pleasant experience at this new sport. I can honestly say that I walked into the store with some reservations about how I would embrace archery. I had taken one lesson many many years ago at different location. Although it was fun, I knew I wasn't that great at it and never attempted it again. But after today and after speaking with Roger, I feel like his patience, honesty and sincerity in helping novices like myself, really helped to give me the extra boost and confidence to learn the sport and continue to practice to be good at it. Roger has 30 yrs of experience in the world of archery and was such a delight to speak with. Not once did he try to upsell us on any of the accessories or lessons. These are the types of store associates that I truly appreciate. They have their customer's best interest in mind and they just genuinely want to help. At $12/ hr for a lane for customers who bring their own equipment, I think this is a very reasonable price. We definitely will be going back to Archery One for target practice. Alexander will be the death of this store. I went to Archery Only, because it was recommended by my hunting instructor. I was thinking it was a good idea to support a local store, because I we need to keep them a live for future servicing needs. I spoke to Alexander on the phone, and told him I was new in the sport and needed help finding a new bow. He asked me what my budget was and I explained it really didn't matter as long as I got the best bow for me. I asked him if he had all the lastest flagship models from Hoyt and BowTech and if he had time to help outfit me with a bow today. He said yes and to come over. When I got to the store, he was busy on a phone call, so I waited and looked at the bows. They had several Hoyts, but only one BowTech and it wasn't the lastest version. When he got off the phone, I reintroduced myself as the person who just set an appointment with him to come and get setup with a bow. He asked me again what my budget was. I explained once more, budget was not as important to me as getting the perfect bow for me. He told me to give him a few minutes. While waiting I looked and the bows and a couple of other very nice customers actually helped me while Alexander was busy. They explained the differences of the compound bows and one other customer let me carry her very light basic wooden bow. Another attendant came, but when I asked him about the bows he said Alexander would be the person to ask. It had been close to 20 minutes by this time, so I went to see what was keeping Alexander from our appointment. After he dealt with his last customer in the store, I explained to him that I called to set an appointment with him, because my time was limited and I had been waiting for already 20 minutes for him at this point. The phone started to ring and he told me was the only person in the store, so maybe I should come back tomorrow instead. I had driven all the way here from work during my lunch break, because he said he had time to show me some bows and now that I was in the store he told me I should back another day??? I told him it was not right to set an appointment with someone, have them come to their store, then when they arrive ignore them and then tell them to come back the next day instead? ... And what did Alexander say as he was picking up the phone? He very calmly said... "Get the fuck out of here." Believe me, I did just that. One of the other customers in the store who witnessed the whole thing followed me out and apologized for what happened. I told him it wasn't his fault and shouldn't be apologizing for Alexander's behavior. He recommended I go to another archery store in Gilroy instead. I explained I didn't have the time to do that today anymore as I wasted all my time at Archery Only already. I told him I couldn't believe how bad service had gotten at this small retail stores. You try to keep them alive and they repay you by giving you appalling customer service. You set an appointment to come to their store, tell them you have a sky limit budget to outfit you with a bow, and still knowing that Alexander tells you "Get the fuck out of here", because he rather attend to some other person on the phone instead of someone who is already in the store ready to shell out money for the best bow you can offer him??? I can only imagine who much money this store has lost by putting Alexander in charge. LOL! read more

They are very knowledgeable when it comes to anything that has to do with archery, hunting, and competitive archery. I had so much fun bringing out my inner Katniss, Robin Hood and Legolas! Our instructor made shooting a bulls eye come so easy. There were 8 students to one instructor and she did a great job teaching us the basics and then letting us shoot off our rounds. Safety first! They have all the gear you need, which isn't much - wrist guard, bow and arrow! If you're taking the class come early to get situated. We failed and got here like 10 minutes late. Bought a LivingSocial "Intro to archery lesson for 2 people with equipment and practice" deal to surprise the BF for his birthday and we both loved it and had an awesome time!! It was both our first time so we came in not knowing anything and we left with the skill to shoot an arrow! We might possibly come back and play some more another time! Highly recommend if you're interested in becoming the next Green Arrow! Just kidding! But seriously lol. I am a HUGE Green Arrow fan. The BF too but not as a crazy fan girl like I am LOL. My friends and I purchased a groupon for an intro class for 4 people at Archery Only. We were then able to go online to choose a date and time. There weren't as many options for Groupon holders as we would have liked. It would have been nice if they had options for later in the evening since most of us were coming from work. We scheduled the latest class at 6-7pm on a Wednesday evening. When we arrived, we had no issues finding parking as there is a decent size lot out front. When we entered, we were promptly greeted by the manager who referred us to the instructor. She was very kind. We were early so we waited for the rest of the class attendees to arrive. The facility itself is pretty unique with about a third of it dedicated to the shop which included lots of archery equipment (of course) and hunting equipment as well. The other 2/3 is dedicated to the indoor archery range. Our class started right on time at 6pm. There were 7 people in our class (one member cancelled). We had 4 shooting stations with 1-2 of us taking turns at each station, each shooting 5 arrows at a time. Overall, the flow was great. The instructor and manager were very encouraging and gave helpful advice. Taking turns was actually nice because when it is not your turn, you can observe and learn from watching others and give your arms a break. But don't get me wrong, it's not a big workout to use these bows! It's easier than it looks. Overall, it was a fun, chill experience. The reason I knocked off one star was because it was a little hot and stuffy while we were shooting. Also, our instructor told me I should have been using a heavier bow when we were done, so that was disappointing that she only noted that after the class was over. And finally, it would have been nice to have some later evening options for intro classes. But in conclusion, I highly recommend taking an intro class here with friends, family, or significant others. Great vibe and helpful and friendly staff! read more

I'm always on the outreach to support local businesses, although I feel bad, I was pretty late on this one. It was my first time here and Alex ensured a highly smooth experience. Sign-in was easy. You don't pay upfront. You pay at the end. Tells a lot about how business owners want to conduct the business and how much they value the Customer's experience over money. Alex provided coaching on the whole archery thing and was extremely patient. He even checked upon after a couple of rounds to make sure everything was fine. Vibe was pretty cool and the participants in the lanes were friendly & patient as well. I hit the bullseye a couple of times! I am a gun shooter so this was a nice hobby to fall back on. The selection is huge. Lots of Hoyt and PSE but I liked my PSE better. I've been wanting to get into archery for a while, and finally bought a groupon back in March to take the intro to archery class. From my email receipts, I purchased the groupon on 3/19, and was able to book a class for 3/29. It was really easy to book, and my boyfriend and I had a great time- so much that we took the archery 101 class right after, and are currently taking the intermediate class! The instructors are super friendly & helpful, and we've improved a lot in the past 4 months. It definitely helps to have someone who is watching your form and pointing out what you're doing wrong. If you're worried about not being able to attend all 6 weekly classes in a row, there is a makeup class at the end that you can go to if you've missed any classes. This was helpful since I went on vacay in the middle of my 101 class. My boyfriend and I also went this morning to purchase bows & arrows, and the guy who helped us was really helpful. We really had no idea what we were looking for and what draw weights to get, but he was really patient about letting us try out different bows and answering our questions. A nice bonus we didn't know about, was that when you purchase a bow there you get a credit of 5 hours to use the lanes there later. The short: enjoyed the Intro to Archery class I came here with some friends on a Groupon deal for an Into to Archery class. Booking a class through Archery Only's website was easy. The hours were somewhat challenging because the last class is at 8pm. Nonetheless, we arrived on time, got a brief introduction and began shooting away! Since there aren't enough targets for the number of people in the course, 7 people went on the first rotation and my group went on the second rotation. The rotation ended up being really great because it allows for time to catch up with friends, rest the arms, and get tips and techniques from the instructors. The course: Round 1): Aim at the black foam 2): Aim at the black foam 3): Rotate the board and shoot a paper target 4): Rotate the board and shoot at the balloon and paper target (Can't remember if there was a 5th round) The instructors aren't the type who are super enthusiastic and smiley, though their humor is funny and I loved their attentiveness to each shooter. By watching the stance, the technique, and the aim, they offer great pointers on how to improve. Next to the indoor range is a shop filled with all sorts of archery needs. Came here for a group/corporate event and had an amazing time! Our instructor was very patient, encouraging and made everyone feel at ease. We started off with talks around safety and the do's and don'ts of archery. From there we were broken up into 2 groups and had a chance to practice loading the arrows and aiming at the targets. Once we got a bit accustomed, we were able to make a competition out of it and it was every fun. In the end, we even got to shoot some balloons. Closest archery shop to me. Went in to get a bow I found in a basement strung and to get some custom arrows ordered for my new 65 lb horse bow. Roger took care of everything quickly and no issue. I can't say enough positive things about this place. Mistakenly bought my first bow as Sportsman's warehouse where they offered little to no help. Not only was I not satisfied with the bow, but it didn't even fit properly. Went here and the Owner went out of his way to insure I got exactly the bow I wanted with the PERFECT fit. I got to shoot multiple bows in the shop to see what I liked best, and was walked through all the different options and accessories for my bow. I am now a life long customer and will be coming here for all my archery needs. Very fun and cool experience! I've always wanted try archery and was super excited to find a Groupon deal for it! I got a deal for 2 people in total of $30 which isn't bad at all. Boy was I excited! Until, I realized I forgot my glasses.. Sigh. Seeing where to shoot my arrow was a struggle but was really fun! We came in on a Wednesday night for the 18+ age group class. The group was in total of 8 people. We were all given arm guards to keep your sleeves, hair and skin out of the way of the bowstring as you release your arrow. The instructors began to give us tips on how to hold the arrow and place it carefully into the bow. Also, how to level your arms. We were allowed to shoot 5 arrows at a time and had to wait until everything was clear until we got our arrows again. There was around 8-10 rounds of shooting with a balloon to shoot as a target in the end. Even though things were blurry for me, I thought I was doing better than when I started out with the tips of the instructors. I also hit the ballon my first shot! WOO! My boyfriend and I had a lot of fun and now we're really into archery! Moral of the story: definitely an experience worth taking and don't forget your glasses! read more

Come here on a Monday for their archery lesson. $20/40min. It's a nice narrow indoor archery range. The distance is limited yet good enough to spark interest. Equipment was included with the lesson-recurve bow, arrows, finger tab and arm guard. For the lesson I would say the target was about ten feet away from the starting position. The instructor gave us a good overview of what to do. Then he watched each person individually to observe/correct our tendencies, so we can aim for the target. His suggestions were spot on. At first my arrows were landing above the bullseye, then he gave me some corrections on my form and eventually my arrows were near the bullseye. If you've done archery before, I would skip the lesson and pay to shoot. It's $20/hour with equipment or $10/hour if you have your own. It's a nice time to just let things go and shoot at something for fun. I'll be back. read more

My boyfriend brought me here for my birthday, and I had a blast! I always wanted to try Archery and this was a great place to go. My boyfriend got a deal for 2 people from Groupon for an hour lesson. You get to choose to be with 18+ group or under. We got the 18+ group. The instructors were friendly, and really helpful. They gave us tips, and we got to aim at a balloon at the end of the lesson. I bought my bow from this place. They are very honest and up front with you. They didn't try to sell me anything more than I wanted/needed. They recently expanded, and they have a nice indoor range. Each time I come back to buy this or that, and no matter who I talk to, they treat me with respect and integrity. I am never SOLD anything, and their advice is always honest. Can I get some of this stuff for a little less online? Probably, but having the ability to walk into a store and talk to someone that will not make you feel taken advantage of is priceless.
