Best place in space!! The owners are great and they work hard to promote the community and a desire to give back.

Jim and Caroline were very informative in answering question we had on metal detectors, panning for gold, and just plain treasure hunting.

Only heard about Sports Basement for the first time a few months ago when a friend took me here for…read morea tandem bike rental! We booked the bike about a week in advance for a full day for $65, and it was ready for pickup when we arrived. The staff did a safety inspection and let us know that helmets are included with the rental and that we could return the bike to any Sports Basement location. My friend also asked if they could leave their backpack there, and the staff kept it behind the desk, which was really nice. The bike was in good condition! We rode it for 4-5 hours with no issues. A few things I wanted to point out - the seat was pretty narrow and hard, which made it uncomfortable to sit on. It had been a while since I last biked, so I'm not sure if I just need to wear padded shorts or if the seat wasn't the right fit for me. Another thing is that I couldn't sit in the front because the seat was too tall for me to comfortably reach the pedals, and there didn't seem to be an easy way to adjust the height. Lastly, it would've been nice to have a phone mount on the handlebar for navigation. We turned in the bike at the end of the day. Overall, the process was very smooth, the staff were friendly, and the rental was affordable. I would do it again, but I'd wear padded shorts next time :)

Updated review, but same great experience at Sports Basement!…read more I went with my son to purchase a new bicycle and had a great experience. We went not completely sure which bike we wanted or the best fit. The staff working was very informative and spent a lot of time explaining options and tradeoffs. I appreciate they didn't just push us to the most expensive options. Rather, they took the time to understand his preferences and use for the bike and then made a few recommendations. They were very patient the entire time, letting him test ride multiple bikes until he found the perfect one. We had such a great experience that we went back to purchase a second bike later that evening!

Huge store! Lots of athletic wear! No fishing gear at this location though…read more Employees didn't really offer help but it's fine. Lots of Nike and Under Armor with a smattering of team jerseys.

Soooo I have been at this store before but not really a stop for me when I come to the Great Mall…read more My cousins were visiting and they wanted to stop by since there is no Dick's Sporting Goods where they live. Yes, the store is huge. Yes, it looks organized and clean. Yes, there is a lot of sporting items. Yes, there are a lot of brands featured and available. My cousin wanted some Hoka shoes, she saw some that she liked and wanted to try in her size. In order to get your size to try on, there is a tablet on a stand that has you scan the bar code that is on the inside of the shoe that is on display. Once you scan, the shoe pops up, the colors are on display and the shoe sizes that are available. Using the touchscreen and going through the prompts, you request your shoe to be brought out. You also add your name to the request. On the display it tells you that your shoes will be brought out, less than 5 minutes. Since my cousin had a small infant with her and it was feeding time, I told her that we should sit and wait. A minute passes by, then 2, then 5, then 10, then 20. Meanwhile, I see no sales associates on the shoe floor. No one to ask what is happening. There is an entrance in the back that has signs posted to not enter, employee entrance only. Mind you, we were sitting right on the side of that entrance. Suddenly, an employee comes out, calling the brand and the shoe size of the two boxes that he had. People are scrambling to see if the shoes that are brought out are theirs. Nope. Some people are holding on to the display shoe and asking the associate if they could bring their size. The employee leaves to this illusive wall/door. Waiting, waiting.... Now, I am a very patient person but now we are at the 30 minute mark, another employee (not the 1st one that came out) makes an appearance, once again calling shoe brand and size. Walking a bit and swarming. Who knew that so many people were requesting Hoka shoes at that moment too. Why did the screen bother asking for a name if they were not going to use it. More people swarm the employee asking for their shoe size and they leave before I can say anything. 40 minutes....50 minutes, another 3rd employee walks out and brings another stack of shoe boxes with him. Same show, calls out the brand and the size. Nope, not the Hoka's my cousin wants to try on. Finally, I ask the employee, how long from when I place a request to when someone comes out with the shoe, and he said 5 minutes at the most???!!!!!! The most! I told him that I had been out here for almost an hour and no one has come out, he aplogizes and asks what shoe we want. I told him and he promises that he will be out ASAP with my shoe. Okay....promising. Another employee comes out....people swarm, my shoe is no where in the stack. Every other customer that is in the shoe dept is trying on their shoes, deciding and walking over to the cash registers to pay for their shoes. Not joking after waiting over an hour, finally the shoes for cousin to try on comes out. No, they didn't call my name, but since we had prime seating area to this door, i was able to spot the sticker with the shoe style that my cousin wanted. She tried them on....and NOOOOOO! they were too tight, she needed a half size bigger. Ugh, the future did not look fun if we were going to wait soo long to get the bigger shoe size. But, she wanted the shoe and they were leaving the next morning and there was no time to order online or go elsewhere. I used the tablet kiosk to make another request, I guess I had not learned my lesson. Mind you, I didnt see another kiosk and there was a guy that was perusing and looking like he was online shopping while others had to make their request. I did it and the waiting games continued. Waiting, waiting....everyone else getting assistance.... 10 more minutes....20...30 Finally I asked, where are we on the queue for our shoe to come out. He said well they dont have the size 8, so sorry. Um, we have the size 8, she has tried it on, now we need and 8 1/2, oh, sorry about that, I will be back ASAP. Okay....ASAP means different things for people. Finally, an associate comes out, not calling out names, brands or sizes and I see the shoe box. I told him that is ours. He gives it to me. My cousin tries them on and they fit. Long review, yes. But what a nightmare! Why have a process if it does not work and its not efficient. In a perfect setting, sure I can see instead of harassing the sales associates with wanting your shoe size, there is a system in place for them to get the alert and they come out with what you requested. The sales floor is clean since the only shoes out there are the display and not hundreds of shoe boxes. But, what is in place is not better. Personally, I will never buy shoes here. I would go somewhere else to try them on. I also wouldn't recommend this experience to anyone. Unless, maybe you have time to kill. Maybe.

We went to return the items bought from online.I am writing to express my deep concern and outrage…read moreregarding a profoundly disturbing experience I had at your Columbia store located at Great Mall in Milpitas, CA. What should have been a routine return of a few online-purchased items quickly escalated into a humiliating, disrespectful, and frankly alarming incident that has left a lasting negative impression of the Columbia brand. Upon arriving at the store to process the return, the cashier was immediately rude and dismissive. Rather than assisting us courteously, he treated me with suspicion and hostility, as though I were attempting something fraudulent. Without offering any explanation, he called over additional staff to inspect the return -- making me feel publicly scrutinized and accused, without cause. The situation worsened dramatically when the store manager, who identified himself as Donovan, got involved. His behavior was shockingly unprofessional and disrespectful. When we asked for clarification about why we were being treated so poorly, he claimed--incorrectly--that we were attempting to return more than 10 items, which was simply not true. He then demanded to inspect my phone to verify the credit card used for the online purchase. While I cooperated in good faith to resolve the situation, he proceeded to browse through private sections of my phone, including my account information and unrelated order history, without my permission. When I objected to this blatant invasion of privacy, his response was dismissive and increasingly hostile. When I rightfully asked for an apology for the incorrect accusation and invasive behavior, he escalated the situation further by threatening to call mall security to remove us from the store, effectively weaponizing his position rather than resolving the matter professionally. He also declared that he could refuse service at will, regardless of company policy or customer rights. He then flatly denied the return without legitimate grounds. This incident was not only humiliating and disrespectful -- it was a violation of basic customer rights and personal privacy. We have never been treated in such an aggressive and unethical manner by any retail staff in our lives. The conduct displayed by both the cashier and the manager was hostile, unprofessional, and deeply damaging to the Columbia brand. We have filed a formal complaint with Columbia's corporate office (Case #000552987), but I feel it is important to stress the severity of this matter. If this is how customers are treated for simply making a return, I can no longer in good conscience support or recommend Columbia products.

For Kris (Chris) - store manager and customers,…read more I had an issue when staff rejected to do separate receipt for purchase and return. First, I came to the store because I want to do return. At the same time, I found other item that I wanted to purchase. Then, I asked the staff to do return and purchase separately. It seemed like she asked the manager some questions regarding the return. Next, she did the return and purchase in one receipt. Done, I left the store. A week later, I changed my mind and wanted to return 1 item (on that same return and purchase receipt) and noticed only store manager can authorized the refund. He came to the counter and got explained from his staff about I was using store credit to purchase. He started giving me hard time. He did not deliever a professional customer service skill nicely nor problem solver to customer. He was yelling at me and asked "Do You Know What Are You Talking About" in front of lot of other customers. I tried to explain the confusion of returning and purchasing on same receipt using store credit. He ignored what I was trying to explain. He kept underlying item on the receipt and asking me lot of questions. He gave me the feeling that he looked down on me cause I am Asian while he is white. I felt that I got discriminated by him. To store manager, I come to purchase, and I am not begging for anything. Please, act as an adult and be professional to suite your title. To Columbia: great products, but bad managing staff crew.
