Best locally owned bait and tackle store in the area. If you want to support local business instead of Bass Pro, go here. If you can speak their lingo, and take the time to develop a relationship you will learn that the staff of this business know fishing tips and secrets - including hot spots where the bite is on. The largest shark I landed successfully (~100 lb) was using tackle purchased at this store. The largest shark I hooked up with (9ft+) was using gear from Fishery Supply. Check their pictures and you will find a few of me with the Sharks caught using their tackle. They have a wide range of frozen and live baits. When I need a dozen bloody pacific mackerel for shark bait this is my go to. Highly recommend. read more

Great place to buy bait and tackle for experienced fisherman who know what they want. Everything you really need is reasonably priced and most importantly, in-stock! Easy access from the freeway and plenty of parking. I used to shop at Fisherman's Warehouse but started coming here after the former left the San Jose area. You don't get a lot of handholding here but if you know what you want, the items you need to catch fish are stocked very well(as opposed to items to catch fisherman). Never have I left here looking for things that were out of stock. The staff is knowledgable and friendly too once you get to know them. Recently needed some new gear to target bluefin tuna. My buddy told me about this place. He said the prices are little less than the chain stores. I'm a novice so I needed some assistance for shore crabbing. I asked twice for assistance to purchase a 10 ft pole/ reel and crab snares. The first time I asked, he just repeated what said. I thought he would follow me to the poles. The lady running the cash register will rip you off. She overcharged me by 10 dollars for a fishing guide replacement tip and told me it was SIC, it was a cheap alconite insert. For the last 10+ years, this place has always been my to-go place for any fishing related supplies - bait, sinker, hook, line, etc! Pretty much can find anything you're looking for here. Some higher in price while some lower than other locations. Wish they would put price tags on most if not all their items. Dread having to regularly ask "how much is this?". Shop is a bit small & crowded inside, but they manage to stock a large selection of supplies, baits, tackles, you name it! Parking can be a bit hectic due to small lot & tight spots! This place has everything! I'm new to fishing and wanted to get some supplies and a new rod/reel combo. The prices here are affordable and I found everything I needed. My rod and reel combo was $55 and I was very happy with the quality. They have live bait as well. The workers are helpful! However, the line for this shop is LONG because of social distancing. I'd say 30-45 minutes. The store is also very small and there is little to no space to walk inside. Overall, I am happy with what I got and my experience. read more

I have been shopping at this stores for years, but will never step foot in this place again. The lady that use to run the place was very nice and would talk to me and other customers and they come in. I think it is the son that took over and he is the rudest person I ever met in my life. Poor customer service skills and shouldn't be working as the cashier. Other employees had to apologized to customers for his behavior. Prices have also skyrocketed and matches big box stores now. I'm literally here every week or every other week. I always expect my wallet to hurt when ever I leave, but I always leave pleasantly surprised with the final bill. Their pricing is very comparable to online prices, but at local convenience. Shop at mom and pop shops and keep the money in the community! Fishery Supply is conveniently located in the corner of a small strip park. The complex itself is quite busy with a lot of foot traffic and the occasional transient posting in front of establishments. Parking isn't too bad. Just make sure to lock your car since San Jose sucks. It's a smaller tackle shop with narrow aisles that are filled to the brim. Cameras are everywhere, so don't try anything stupid ;] Their lighting as always been somewhat dim, but you can see the overwhelming amount of tackle easily. Depending on the season, they'll USUALLY have the best cut baits and live baits as well, though they sell out quickly in the peak of the season. You can definitely tell it's a family operation as all of them are doing something to do store and chatting with each other from different corners. Slight language barrier, but they'll do what's needed to make it work. They originally kept an uncomfortable eye on me as I shopped, but the more times I went, I guess I began gaining their trust lol. I am new to catching crab with a snare and thought this would be a good place to go given the reviews. I bought a pole, snare, fishing line, some connectors that looked like safety pins. The lady there was helpful in recommending all the things However,the disappointing part is the hooks were double the cost elsewhere (Big5), AND she charged me for two packets when I only bought one. They were too far for me to go back. I would go back as they're the only one around here with the supplies, but I would definitely ask for the price on everything AND double check my receipt BEFORE leaving. read more

After reading both the 1 star reviews let me explain how this store works. this is like the frys of the electronics stores: cheap and vast. if you don't know what you're looking for and expect someone in a blue polo and white khakis to come up to you and ask you what your "needs" are then go to fishermans warehouse. Let me list off some things as to why they deserve 5 stars. - They sell lead weights cheaper than anywhere ive ever been HUGE if you buy lots of weights - prices are legit. everything is as dirt cheap as you can get it. rods reels...anything. - Everyone on staff are older but very very nice their english isnt the best but who cares! To everyone who thinks some of the employees are not friendly guess what, theyre first generation asians who came from their country...expect this. The prices are cheap compared to the many fishery supply stores around. Please be aware you will not be treated like a King or Queen in this store. Whether you're African-American, Asian-American, Mexican-American, etc., it doesn't matter. They treat all their customers the same. Just be familiar with what you want or have someone there to help translate for you. As mentioned in previous posts, you never really know the price of each item in the store. The main lady (my friend and I consider her our "fish mom") has memorized the prices of each item in the back of her head. I have notice her charge me differently on different days, BUT never more than a few cents. In all, this store is great to feed your fishing addictions at a fraction of the cost. I needed a new fishing pole and supplies and decided to call ahead to make sure they had what I wanted. I was answered by the most unprofessional staff I've ever experience. The person wouldn't answer my questions and just kept repeating "yeah, yeah, yeah" and was clearly not even listening. The person hung up on me mid sentence and just kept saying "yeah, yeah, yeah". At first I thought maybe it was a mistake so I called back and repeated my question again and asked why she didn't answer it the first time, and she said "we are busy here". I informed her I take my business elsewhere if they are so busy that they can't answer a simple question. I have never been treated so rude and unprofessionally. Why answer the phone if you can't answer the question. I would've even been fine if they asked me to call back later if they're busy. Terrible customer service. read more

As great and addorfable this place is, they need to do better with limiting the amount of people allowed into the facility. There is no place to really walk around. The isles are small and the lines to the cash register was ridiculous when you first walk in. It's also overwhelming, but you spend over 30 minutes in line and buying supplies are necessary. The workers I can tell are usually very helpful, but with COVID, they limit their interactions with customers. They have a wide variety of fishing supplies from salt water ocean fishing to fresh water lake fishing. Lots of live bait and tackle too! read more

So, the result of my experience with the fishery supply shop was positive and negative as I did get a cash refund for 2 of the 3 lost traps ($9). This time I dealt with another guy, not the owner. He accused me of snagging the trap on the rocks and pulling to hard. Again I had to tell this guy I was fishing of the pier in Pacifica and not off or near the rocks. He tells me I give you a refund this one time only. He pulls out $4.50 and lays it on the counter. I tell him I lost 3 and here are 2 lines with the trap missing and the 1 trap that survived and line is ready to suck out. I said I want two new ones or a refund on the faulty traps. He again tells me I snagged them on rocks and says I know I did. I said that I would think the owner would want to keep their customers happy especially over 9 dollars. He called the owner and they told him to give me a refund. So I left with 9 dollars and a still faulty trap i need to fix myself. He then says we don't refund after you use it. I said thank you, shook his hand and left. What a pain in the ass to go through for 9 bucks. But, if it was my fault I wouldn't have dealt with it. It was truly a faulty crimp on the traps. I will have to really think about shopping here again. I added one star only to the fact that they did give me a refund for the two traps lost. That happened only because I brought the two lines in with me. read more
