**update** Manager called me and told me what they tried to do to help the situation. Unfortunately they couldn't do anything but did let us know that once we receive the package from the UPS facility that they would refund the pick up cost we had to pay for. I appreciate this kind of customer service reason why for the updated review. However still an inconvenience to travel to Oakland to get our order on behalf of an error their associate made. Usually our time here is a pleasant easy transaction. However this time around, it was not. This review is for the associate Harmanpreet. Came here to return shoes. First of all she said we couldn't exchange, and she would have to return all 3 shoes. Not sure why we couldn't exchange for what we wanted, but whatever. Second, she didn't know how to return. She had to call someone on her phone to figure it out. It took a good 30 min for her to complete the return. 3rd, we found boots on the shelf that was missing the right pair and told her that we need to get it off the display, and she said, I can't find it. Wtf? She said we have the the left shoe in the box available. At this point we were like whatever and went ahead and placed an order. Gave her all the information. The correct information. And when we got home, we she put in the wrong information. But how? We were right with her at the register. Now our shoes are heading to a location we are no longer at. Called Cole Haan to change the address and it was too late. Now we have to drive all the way to Oakland, pay $8 to pick up our shoes because of how incompetent Harmanpreet was. My husband loves Cole Haan so during our window shopping at the Great Mall he found himself "just checking the store out." There were hella great deals here. Good sales on some spiffy shoes. It ended up being me that bought a few pairs of shoes. I really wanted a specific pair in a color I saw on display. Unfortunately, they no longer had that size in stock. The employee here went out of his way to call other Cole Haan stores to inquire over those shoes for me. He found a pair out of a store in Florida! They're shipping it to me free of charge. Was there on Saturday, July 23 at 4 pm. As you walked in everyone offered to help. Very nice. When I'm ready to pay, there were 4 staff at the cashier. One on the phone, the other trying to help a customer check out, one that looks like the manager telling people in line waiting to pay that someone else will help them (but not herself) and the other staff looking lost. Two machines, only one in used. I want to pay but couldn't get help in the 10 mins staring at them. I just left. That's what happens when you have incompetent people running your store. read more

I do love Cole Haan! Love the quality of the leather and love the styles that they carry. I've been going to Livermore and the staff there are superb and eager to help you shop. This Cole Haan outlet store at Great Mall clearly has issues with their staff. We went in and saw this taller guy who obviously worked there(he had a headset) just stared at us when me and my daughter went in- no "Welcome to Cole Haan", no smile- wow, I don't remember Cole Haan's leather being stiff, how come the people working here are? Even my 8-year old said "Wow, it's like "The Walking Dead" here. The lady employee (looks Asian and wearing stripes) also just stared at us even if there were only 4 customers there including us. I guess they don't care, they were just busy talking to one another and were not helping the customers- very different from the Livermore one. As I was looking at their clearance section, Mr. Headset again was looking but was not eager to help and just passed by and went to fix boxes that were already neatly arranged. Paging the manager, kindly please re-train your employees on customer service, apparently with how they acted today, they were probably in a daze or absent during your training/orientation. I am also in the service field and this is not good PR. read more

I've never owned a pair of Cole Haan shoes before. Not until 2 weeks ago. I bought a pair of hiker waterproof boots and one of the staff members there wearing black eye glasses with Cole Haan attire helped me out on getting this pair(nice young gentleman, way to present the store) Anyway I wore this pair everyday and it's super comfortable. We came in to the store at 6:45 PM on Sunday. I would like to draw the attention to the rude manager (Juan, if he gave me his real name), who was closing the store on Sunday August 22nd. The ladies working in the shop were nice, but the guy basically kicked us out while we were trying shoes on at 7:03 PM. He said that we either have to buy something or get out. One extra star for the awesome service. The people working here are super chill which made shopping here a pleasure. My issue is with the quality of goods sold at this store. Namely, that the quality seems to consistently suck. Minus one star for one of the socks I bought falling apart on the first wear. I didn't go hiking in them, I walked through around a Vegas casino. Minus one star for the sunglasses snapping apart super easily. The glasses (the newer line I was told when I bought them) were just waiting to fall apart at the slightest inappropriate pressure. Minus one star for the shoe that looks like the Cole Haan shoe I used to wear. I was testing for fit and didn't realize that it felt significantly different. I just thought I found a good pair for the shoes I had recently lost to the painters. The difference is that walking in these shoes is eventually horrible uncomfortable. So is standing. I used to love Cole Haan specifically for being super comfortable. That's how I found out about them. It was awesome to have a pair of comfy loafers that would work with a business casual outfit and were reasonably priced. I wore those shoes for years until I lost them. Then I bought another pair and did the same. This time around I will replace these as soon as I can find a replacement. This shoe brand has changed ownership and retooled things enough over the past decade that the brand name and the look are the only things they have in common with their previous reputation. read more
