My son needed some new shoes, so we stopped in. Isaac helped us and he was incredibly helpful and attentive. It seemed like he was standing by and ready whenever we needed something even though he wasn't hovering. What was incredibly funny was that both my son and I were way off on his size because his feet have grown so much since we last bought him shoes. I initially asked Isaac to get him a size six and a six. It turned out that my sone needed a size seven and a half. Isaac was great and didn't balk when we asked, three times, for him to get a larger size. In the end, we bought my son a I both new pairs of Vans and the experience was nice and easy. read more

Chris, the floor sales rep made our shopping experience anything but good. While visiting the store to get my dad some new shoes for Father's Day, my dad had the misfortune of being treated poorly and disrespectfully by Chris. I'm not sure of the reasoning behind his poor attitude and rude behavior towards my dad, but I do know it is not a way to treat any customer. I brought it up to to the guy at the register when we were asked who had "helped" us, and we were told 'that's just how the guy is'. The remaining of the staff seemed great, aside from this guy Chris. Good luck on your shopping experience, but beware of possibly being met with the same experience as us. read more

I made a quick detour after my visit to Apple just to check out the new collaboration between Vans X Marvel. This is just like any other typical Vans location but this Valley Fair location is always guaranteed to be super busy. The shoe area is a bit on the smaller side and due to everyone migrating and congregating there, things will be cramped. I do not recommend this location during the weekends if you are claustrophobic in any way. Customer service is pretty good even with it being so busy. Everyone is friendly and willing to assist. The sales associates are pretty fast when it comes to checking for shoe sizes and getting what you want so it's pretty safe to assume that their stockroom is well organized and in tip top shape. We entered the store and we were greeted promptly by David. He let us know he was available if we needed any assistance. Their selection is pretty basic as other Vans stores (not that it's a problem), we were looking for basic shoes. David assisted us with sizes and rang us up. I've never owned a pair of Vans before, so I came in to check out some Old Skools. Turns out there are 3 versions of the original black and white ones that look identical but have totally different soles. The sales rep was super knowledgeable about each variation and guided me toward the ones she thought would be the most durable/comfortable - Old Skool Pros (which are about the same price as the originals and the Lites anyways). It was really busy yesterday on 05/28/2018 on memorial day. There were people in the store trying on shoes and there was a long line. The staff who were dealing with shoe sizes had great and fast service. I was looking at a shoe and she asked me right away what size. I got the shoe within 5 min in my hand and then went to wait in line. The line was about a 10-15min wait. When i was at the cash register, the cashiers were all nice and patient and always asked the customers who helped them out. They also made sure to check the shoe sizes pf each customer's box and check to see if we had 1 right shoe and 1 left shoe. During the checkout AND waiting in line. While I appreciate the speedy retrieval of requested shoes there was a knowledge gap in styles that are available as well as a lack of help in lacing shoes trying on. This store was an average retail store. Although, I prefer Vans shoes over the other shoes sold at other stores like PacSun, Tilley's, and Zumiez. They had a variety of selections on shoes which was a plus. The customer service was all right. I could tell that they were understaffed because they were spread out thin. No one greeted me and asked me if I needed help with anything. It was fine because I usually don't ask for help and there were a lot of other people trying on shoes but it's standard policy for all retail stores to greet customers and ask if they needed any assistance. read more

My love is a skater from back in the day and he wears Vans almost exclusively. He is hot. The End. Hahaha... okay all of that is true but I guess I should provide a more balanced opinion. ;-) This is a medium sized store with a decent selection of clothing, shoes, accessories and even skate decks. Customer service is pretty friendly the few times we've been in. Haven't had any problems or had to return anything so I can't comment on that. The store is moderately busy and there is one very nice guy (Hugo) who is trying to help everyone, while 4 other employees sit behind the counter and chit chat. They can clearly see that he's swamped and people are sitting here waiting forever to be helped. I always tend to stop by the Vans store when I'm in Valley Fair to browse their large selection of Vans shoes on the walls in the back. They always have a great range of colors and patterns that are appealing to the eye. Their customer service in my experience has been great as well. I ordered Vans for the gf on the online store, which I had to exchange for a different size. Called in, and they had the same color in the size I needed, at which point, they held it for me at the store so I could make the exchange. Once I got to the store, not only did the same associate greet me and remember that I called, but the exchange took like two minutes, and was really easy. I definitely appreciated that, and I'm glad that I called ahead of time. The only thing that I will say is that the times I have gone, they usually do not have as many sales as I would like on their shoes...given that Vans are affordable to begin with, it would be nice if they had some cool deals or shoes on sale like some of the other shoe shops in the mall. This experience at Vans blew me out of the water! I was greeted right away in the store by Lina, who was giving me plenty of time and space to shop, while also being a helpful hand when I needed it. She offered so much insight about the product, and I can tell that she's a great help to her team. Colbey offered the fitting room to me, and also answered questions about the product fit, while bringing me multiple options on what I was looking for. He was fun to work with and really easy-going. The experience was welcoming, and the team moved with such fluidity, abiding by all COVID-19 protocols and keeping the store safe for any shopper who passes through. True to form, after even talking this up to corporate--they don't follow through. So as they told me that a district manager would be calling me, after I checked up with them three weeks later... ...they thought the matter was solved by being able to talk to someone at corporate. That's not what you told me. You said you are giving my information to someone who had jurisdiction over the store... "I hope you are enjoying your new shoes..." UH WHAT? So point being, it's no FOLLOW through on anything, that's pretty evident. I didn't ask for new shoes, or shoes at all - so I don't know about that. I even followed up the lackluster message (also noting "if you'd like to discuss further, let us know that someone will contact you from corporate") to my previous follow-up with a phone call. No phone call back. NO FOLLOW THROUGH completely absolves any sense of customer service. I actually wasn't looking for something for free, I really just wanted to someone to comprehend the problematic experience I had and how insulting it was. Vans were thing of the past for me, and I suppose they'll now stay that way. So unfortunate. read more

Dude. Best vans store in the entire Bay Area. I've shopped at vans stores from Marin down to Monterey area. The usual vibe is "go f*** yourself" in a vans store (given that's the skate vibe), but this store is the opposite. At least every 2-3 minutes a differente associate stopped to ask what going on. They were not only attentive to our requests, but also to our two year old! Just an example of how well staffed and great their service is, here's a list of the associates that helped us: Isaac, TJ, Jocelyn, Al, and Jenn ( the MOD). Each person stopped multiple times to help, each smiled and interacted with our son (they even had stickers!!!!!!), and all greeted/farewelled us during our visit. 5 stars isn't enough. It's so nice to know that a huge company can still help its staff value the guest/customer and their needs while running the shop effectively and efficiently. Go vans!!! read more

The Vans store in the Valley Fair Shopping mall review. I went to return shoes Thursday morning because they did not fit. They were only worn in the house but the manager said I was lying. She said she would not give me a refund or an exchange. Then she offered me 12 dollars for a pair of 60. Shoes. Buyer beware!! You are stuck with the shoes even if you never wear them. That store is a rip off. How did she come up with $12.? She said she would only be able to sell them for 28. So she will give me half Half of 28 is not 12. I came in here yesterday, they had a great selection of clothes at good prices. I have to give Vans 2 starts because the cashier Paulina F was extremely rude. I waited about 20 minutes to use the fitting room when there was no one using it. Instead of checking if anyone was in there, she decided to argue with me that there was someone in there the whole time and acted like I was pulling lies out of my ass.
