" what a joke, I took the photo and walked out. I was stopped at the front of the store, right by the cash registers, in full view of everyone coming and going. Multiple employees surrounded me while they searched my purse and my person. It was one of the most humiliating experiences I've ever had, especially knowing I had done nothing wrong. After they found nothing, one employee quietly apologized to me. What hurt the most was that there was never a public acknowledgment that I hadn't stolen anything or a public apology in front of all the people who had just watched me be treated like I had stolen something. Instead, I was left to walk away carrying the embarrassment and humiliation on my own. I went home in tears that day, and I have never been back. I genuinely used to enjoy shopping there, but the way that situation was handled changed that for me completely. I recently shared this experience in a comment on one of The General Store's TikTok posts about how amazing their store is. I wasn't trying to be hateful or disrespectful. I shared it because this experience genuinely hurt me, and I felt that customers should be able to speak honestly about how they have been treated. What was especially disappointing was their response. Rather than reaching out to say, "We're sorry this happened to you," acknowledging how the situation was handled, or letting me know that steps had been taken to prevent another customer from having a similar experience, they blocked me. That response was incredibly disappointing. I wasn't looking for anything from them other than some accountability and acknowledgment that the way I was treated was hurtful and humiliating. Anyway, the guys there clearly know running, had several good options for me to try in 14 and even a few in 15. They encouraged me to run around outside in any of them, and were just generally friendly and helpful. The price was slightly higher (straight MSRP) than something online or at a super store, but I expected that and was glad to pay it. It certainly wasn't a crazy high price or anything. They have you step on a pad to find out what type of foot you have, WHY do they have you do this???I dont know because they dont know what kind of shoe you should wear!! The only good thing that came out of the visit was the cashier told me to go to your store.. I called and asked if they had any size 14's. They said they did. When we walked in the door Josh greeted us. He said that after we called he pulled all of the 14's that you had. He watched my husband walk, explained why he would need a certain shoe. Had him try each shoe on with the other one and walk. He spent a lot of time with us. Made sure my husband loved how the shoe felt. If you need shoes.....go here!!!!
