The staff is all friendly and helpful and will be able to direct you where you're going. The layout is a little wonky, I don't know if it's because of the overall size of the store, or just that it's laid out poorly. But once you get your bearings you'll be able to figure it out. The parking lot is also awkward to get in and out of, and also awkwardly located in relation to the main entrance. But any REI is a good REI and I'm glad this place is here.

A simple apology goes a long way and why would you not make a change to the tag? The store was completely dead and the cashier was distracted on her personal electronic device. It's no wonder people shop online now days. I went to the shelf again after the transaction was complete and the cashier yells across the store, "hey can you bring me that tag? " what a joke, I took the photo and walked out. I have had way too many poor experiences with this store from waiting on repairs for 1 year to employees breaking my new shotgun as I was picking it up. Good luck Sportsman's!

I used to love shopping at The General Store, but I haven't been back since the day I was…read morewrongfully accused of stealing. I was stopped at the front of the store, right by the cash registers, in full view of everyone coming and going. Multiple employees surrounded me while they searched my purse and my person. It was one of the most humiliating experiences I've ever had, especially knowing I had done nothing wrong. After they found nothing, one employee quietly apologized to me. What hurt the most was that there was never a public acknowledgment that I hadn't stolen anything or a public apology in front of all the people who had just watched me be treated like I had stolen something. Instead, I was left to walk away carrying the embarrassment and humiliation on my own. I went home in tears that day, and I have never been back. I genuinely used to enjoy shopping there, but the way that situation was handled changed that for me completely. I recently shared this experience in a comment on one of The General Store's TikTok posts about how amazing their store is. I wasn't trying to be hateful or disrespectful. I shared it because this experience genuinely hurt me, and I felt that customers should be able to speak honestly about how they have been treated. What was especially disappointing was their response. Rather than reaching out to say, "We're sorry this happened to you," acknowledging how the situation was handled, or letting me know that steps had been taken to prevent another customer from having a similar experience, they blocked me. That response was incredibly disappointing. I wasn't looking for anything from them other than some accountability and acknowledgment that the way I was treated was hurtful and humiliating. Being blocked for respectfully sharing my experience left me feeling as though protecting the store's image mattered more than hearing from a customer who had been deeply hurt by the way she was treated.

To make a long story short, in the morning, there were only a few glowing embers leftover from the campfire, a muddy, coffee soaked patch of ground, a couple tattered bedrolls and a very, very uncomfortable moose who smelled strongly of bourbon. Soon after, more and more people were leaving their otherwise comfortable homes in the old world and along the eastern seaboard and setting out to experience the wilderness. Over the next two hundred years, the legacy of those crazy trappers has been festooned all over the maps of the west, but it is the enduring legacy of the simple joys of an outdoor lifestyle which affects us most profoundly today. Fast forward to 1985 and in the pioneering spirit which first drew those early trappers west, a small cadre of siblings from British Columbia made their way down the west coast to San Diego where they founded GSI Outdoors
