Beautiful new store. The guys in the sporting goods were very nice as well as the guy in the fly shop. However, the cashier and the load guys were not at all friendly. They just wanted to do the job and not talk. So customer service sucks but the store is beautiful. read more

This store has a decent selection of products. I have been able to find most of my needs for my horse there. The store is always very clean and well-stocked. The customer service is lacking, however. Out of the dozen or so employees I've come across while there my past several trips, only two were friendly and helpful. Most employees are not warm, friendly, or offer assistance. I also am surprised that North 40 does not offer a customer rewards program, as the Country Store and Tractor Supply do. read more

It took 45 minutes to purchase a firearm from the Mead, Wa. store. Then after 2 weeks for a background check, it took another 45 minutes to pick it up. Very slow employees that need to speed up and get things done in a timely matter. They did have a decent sale on the firearm I purchased. Hopefully with the new store going in they can hire some quality employees that don't move like snails. read more

Placed an online pickup order and then called the Mead store to verify it. When my kid went in to pick it up he was told he was at the wrong store and they did not have the part. I called and was passed around to 3 people all of whom were unable to resolve the issue. With the 3d person I was somewhat impatient (no swearing just short) asking to resolve the issue. They made excuses that " They had just returned from lunch" I told them not my problem all I want was resolution. In exchange I got a lecture about my attitude. Meanwhile, my kid goes to shelves picks up the part (1 of 14 in stock on the shelf and walks it to the front counter where he got lectured about my attitude. If I did not need it same day for a power outage I would have bought elsewhere. Next time I will not even give N40 a try. Amazon is no hassle, they deliver and no attitude. Here's my advice: N40 there are no excuses for giving a customer an excuse, each individual is the face of the company and should take ownership of a the issue presented or proactively pass it on with the history to someone who can resolve it. Winter has definitely hit early this year and thank goodness North 40 Outfitters had plenty of wood pellets in stock for those cold nights. Our favorite brand (Rocky Canyon) by far in our opinion is probably the cleanest and hottest burning pellets offered here in the Inland Northwest and always the first brand sold out. You can purchase them by the bag for $4.09 or by the ton which consists of 50 40lb bags which is what we opted to do. Why do we love shopping here? Consistently good prices on items we use, a huge selection of items available (work clothes to pet supplies) along with respectful and courteous service is why we will continue to shop here!! read more

The short: Don't purchase their weed & feed products that they store out in weather. I had bottom of my bag full of moisture. It clogged my spreader and ruined my morning plans. They were rude when I returned product claiming it had never happened before and almost didn't let me return it. The other half bag was in my spreader at home causing big mess! Insult to injury after dealing with problem they created. I stored in my dry shop for weeks and it was still soggy clump on bottom. It sad it only takes one rude employee to make a customer write a review like this. read more

Great product, very poor customer service. Employees don't seem to want to be there, work, nor interact with customers. They look as though someone beats them.. My checkout clerk literally grunted when I asked her if the register / check out was open. I had to ask her twice because I don't speak in grunts .... it all comes down to who's managing. I have routinely purchase farm equipment and feed at North 40 for about 6 years since starting my sheep farm. My purchases have averaged $12-20,000 annually. today following a Black Friday Ad which advertised "ALL ONLINE & IN STORE ITEMS 15% OFF" I went to buy three $239.00 hay feeders. They informed me that even though they were online that since they were for sale in the 'yard' that only a 5% discount would apply. the manager confirmed this even though the Ad was clear about ONLINE items.. I have moved my Purchase Order accounts to Tractor Supply and Premier One and will not do business with dishonest advertising merchants at any point in the future. Last week their manager recommended the wrong antibiotic and then refused to take the unopened package back when I pointed out their error. Never again. I recommend all small farmers AVOID North 40 as their comment to me was "Prices are just too high for US to take the risk of accepting returns!" (Quote from Store Manager. This is not honest customer service and it has cost them all business for my farm and recommendations to my farm owning friends. read more

I have seen several bad comments about this store and I say there is two sides to the coin on nasty customers or the help. I have shopped several years here at times and never a bad experience. Just this week I had looked on line for a log splitter and then called for stock check. I was transferred to the lead yard man "MIKA" and what a blessing he is to this store. He said that he would have to assemble one and if busy it may take up to 48 hours. He took my info and within 3 hours he had one together and called me!! Then he made sure I got the right hydraulic oil and engine oil for the machine that it didn't come with. Lastly he ran me through the operation procedures in the yard, helped me hitch it up and a awesome job of product knowledge and great friendly assistance!!! If North Forty is smart they will kick Mika up the ladder and keep his skills in the company. I rarely do a comment response ever, but in this case it is so warranted from the first phone call to the pick up on the excellent service. For the people that like scores, MIKA did a 10 out of 10 and even his interaction with the cashier was a pleasure and great comradery that you like to see!! David H. read more

I went in to purchase some fencing materials and T- Posts. When I asked one of the employees if they could help me with some fencing questions, his reply was "those materials are located out back"... Based on my first impressions, this young man had the intelligence of a Nat! I did finally find what I was looking for and eventually paid 1100.00 plus for four 350' rolls of fencing material and 36 T-Posts. I was also in need of a replacement for our mighty mule gate opener. I went back the next day to purchase one and they had two in stock of the opener I needed. One box was clearly "road hard" and taped up, so I decided to take the better looking of the two boxes and get on with my project. I decided to do the installation the next day and when I began to put the unit together, half of the nuts and bolts that should have been with the kit were missing. Clearly the gate opener I purchased had been opened and parts were removed. I would recommend if you are in need of anything boxed, open it and go through it before purchasing. I recently move to the state of Washington and established my residency by changing my driver's license, vehicle registration and acquired a CPL. I went into North 40's store on N. Newport Hwy in Spokane in order to buy a firearm. They refused to sell me a firearm claiming you have to be a resident of the state for at least 90 days. When I asked about it they claimed it was federal law. I knew this wasn't true but left the store and verified whether I might be wrong. As I knew, I was completely correct. I contacted North 40 through their online contact form and explained what happened and there was no federal or state law requiring a citizen to be in the state for 90 days before purchasing. I even provided multiple sources to show I was correct, including info from BATFE which regulates FFL's. I received a response that the info I providing was being passed onto to the appropriate people at the store in question. Later that day, I received a phone call from either the department manager or the store manager (forgot his name). The person proceeded to lie to me and claim it was federal law, when I informed him that it wasn't and referenced the documentation I provided, he conceded the point and then claimed it was state law and referenced the state law. When I pointed out that the state law didn't prohibit me from purchasing but would only increase the waiting period if I didn't have a CPL, the person resorted to claiming it was a company policy. I understand a company can write their own policies, however, it only became a "company policy", when they had no valid excuse to deny the purchase and to cover up their lies and incompetence. To make matters worse, I stopped receiving email responses when I asked for the company policy and for the contact info for the corporate president in order to address the issue. I decided to just go to another merchant and make my purchase, which was completed without any problems. I do not recommend shopping at North 40. They are dishonest. read more

This store can be hit or miss, but when they are a hit, they can carry things that the big box stores simply don't. For instance, I was in need of a super-long counter sink screw (like 5 ito 6 nches). North 40 had these when the other stores did not. ...and I did not have to buy a huge box of them just to get the few that I needed. Also needed a large size sheet metal nut (the kind that slides over the edge of sheet metal to provide a spot into which a bolt can be threaded). Could not believe it, North 40 had it! I don't understand the negative service reviews here. I have always found the ratio of helpers to customers, and their level of knowledge, to be far better than the big box stores. And when I have called, they usually answer the phone promptly. As long as they strive to carry unique and useful stuff, I will always check here first because it is a quick stop, with no huge parking lot to navigate. read more

I stopped in here originally to get a park pass. So I live in Yakima and I needed rv toilet paper. Since my camper is old won't handle the household paper. I looked everywhere Fred Myer, BiMart Big 5. Who says your camper supply to dicks. I gave up before I went to Cabelas. Anyway This place has everything one could need from large animal care to pets. Camping to hunting and fishing. Even Rv toilet paper. Now I know I have two choices by from Amazon or drive 3.5 hr to this place. read more

My fiancée and I went to North 40 to get a couple outfits. As my fiancee was trying on clothes and I was trying to look around for a shirt for him in a different size and nearly 5 employees all were just hanging around talking to each other. It was obvious that I needed help and nobody even offered. They walked right by me to go and laugh and talk with their coworkers. At one point they looked at us and were laughing and whispering. If we're spending $250 dollars on their clothing, I expect good customer service. Clearly they were more interested in talking and not being good employees. They potentially are losing you sales because they obviously don't care about the productivity of your store. read more

I used to enjoy going to north 40 where many knowledgeable people would be eager to help educate me on whatever topic I was trying to figure out. But since Covid began I have noticed a shift towards anger and resentment. I believe some of it may be that the people I loved to learn from were older and may have stepped away to protect their health. All I know is that those who are left are sullen and unpleasant. I struggle to get assistance and then when I do get it it is with great reluctance as if I am inconveniencing them. This seems to be coming from the top as the manager exudes these qualities most effectively. It has left me and my family with a bitter taste in our mouths. We now go out of our way to find anywhere else to shop for supplies for our farm. Our fun, convenient farm stop is now anything but. North 40 would be wise to look closely at management to see if they have the right people running this store. If not, they may lose a whole lot more customers. I could spend days in the clothing department. Always something new and cute to buy. The only opportunity would be we were looking for some fencing. We were told they were all out of what were looking for and would not get more. Which was fine as it was late season. But when I went online, they had plenty of fencing at other North 40's in Spokane and Ponderay. You could drive more corporate sales by checking on other stores inventory as some people may go to the big box stores just being told this store is out for the year. read more

First let me say, LOVE this store. Always have. But, today we had to deal with Andy. We asked if he could help us. He said "Nope. Have to ask her". A lady watering plants. Then had to go back out to load our car. We stood by the outside building with receipts in hand. He was at the other end of lot watching us. We had to walk to him. He never said a word. My husband explained what we purchased. He went and got the items, put it in the back of our car. Again, no words. Not even thank you. We thanked him. Again, no response. This has been by far the worse online-shopping experience I have ever had. When I got on the website there was a pop-up window to enter an email and get a code for a free YETI mug. I did. Nothing happened. Checked my email for a code. Nothing. I had to call 3 times before someone finally emailed me a code. I purchased about 15 items on a Monday afternoon and called to verify it's all in stock and let them know I need them for a trip by Friday. I was told it's all in stock and will ship Tuesday, which should be plenty time to get to me on time. for 2 day I never got an email confirmation for the order (had to call and make sure they email me one). Never got a tracking number or any updates. Called Wednesday afternoon and spoke to some girl who just got back from vacation and couldn't help much, but left a note to the morning people. I finally get something on Thursday - An email telling me that some items are out of stock and some can't be shipped at all. After I called to verify stock and was told it's all available! I called and cancelled the order (will see how long before I get my refund). I have never had such a poor combination of bad online shopping experience accompanied by such pathetic customer service! We have spent thousands of dollars in this place since we bought our farm 2 years ago. The last visit to this store we literally had a salesperson walk us around the store helping us find stuff we need for projects around the farm. Tried to get the 160psi poly pipe and a new frost free hydrant, Twice they brought us the incorrect 100psi pipe and tried to pass it off as 160psi. On top of that the salesperson never mentioned that a brass nipple required for the frost free hydrant to drain properly is not included with the hydrant. Thanks for ensuring me another 80-100 mile round trip to town for an item that should be included. I will never shop at North 40 outfitters again. read more

I just moved to the area, North 40 is new to me. Since it's in the neighborhood behind my house, I thought I'd go check it out. I got followed around the store by different employees asking if I needed help every 60 seconds or so. Finally, the last guy just said "What do you want" it was so rude. I decided to give them another chance because I needed a drill bit for a project and they are close, I ended up making a few hundred dollar purchase. Still, the whole time in the store, followed around and watched like a hawk. As my brother and I are loading up our purchase, we were questioned about our purchase, asked for a receipt (which is fine in the right manner) and then we were told we took the wrong one. We showed them it was right and we were on our way. Dont treat your customers like thieves. I will drive the 6 miles to home depot before I go back there again. I have to wonder if it's because I'm ethnically challenged hahaha jk. read more

Very upset with the way I was treated today at North 40 in Mead. Went there to pick up a few things for garden planting on my way home. I seen the blue tape and sign that says wait to be called. The gal that was behind the register seemed busy so I waited and when she finally looked up at me she said in a very rude way, Are you ready?!" I said yes and asked her do I stay behind the line or do I put my items up on the counter. She said "Well yes" as if I was stupid. She was not friendly no matter what. I told her she didn't have to be rude and continued laying my items upon the counter. Then she kept turning away mumbling under her breath. I asked her name which she refused to give me and she was not wearing a name tag like the others. She pointed over to a man and said he knows, ask him. I spoke with this guy who said he was the asst manager Joe and he responded with I didn't see her act that way. I told him how she was talking to me and she latterly laughed behind me. I told him I didn't want to be there in the first place which he told me people aren't supposed to be out anyway. I told him I need to eat and feed my animals. Just amazed as I have been a customer of North 40 before it ever changed over and was Big R and have never been treated so rudely by the staff. Has this Covid19 made people treat people so rudely? And where is treat the customer with dignity and not throw out mumbles, slam my purchases or laugh in my face. She was a gal in her 20's-30's with an attitude that she didn't like people and especially me for calling her out. She needs some growing up to do and be thankful she has a job still. And the manager should have let someone else take over my sales but was just as rude. So, cancelled my sale and walked out. The staff were so incredibly helpful, the departments were full of all our favorite things, cartharts, Yeti, well caps...they had all the things I needed!
