I've been here a few times and thought the same as other negative review customers until my last few visits. Ace had a customer greeter named Marjorie, she was a delight. I went in today and asked for her. They eliminated that position a lady told me. Huge loss for customers. Another young man named Bryce, this young man knows his fishing department. I made a connection with him and spent my money there and not online. The two employees previously described are very much needed in this world of today. I can only hope management sees this post. Get rid of the deadbeat paycheck collectors and fill your store with good people like Bryce and Marjorie, your reviews will change drastically. read more

I recently bought a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee which, unfortunately, didn't come with a key fob. So I have been looking around for places that would cut the key so I could program the fob. I called the Ace Hardware on Sullivan, and was told the Argonne Ace would do it. When my wife arrived, she was informed by a store employee that they wouldn't do it because it could be a stolen vehicle. When she said that she could show them proof it was hers, they turned their back and wouldn't talk to her anymore. I used to love Ace Hardware, and been going there for quite a while, but after this last interaction, I will no longer be sending anyone their direction, nor make any further purchases from them. read more

Staff doesn't wear masks to prevent Covid transmission. When I was checking out, I said that I wished they would wear them and the clerk snapped at me "it's illegal for you to say that". There is a sign on the front door saying masks are required but it's a joke. Won't return read more

The store did not carry what I needed but the Manager (Ron) actually took the time to take pictures of the parts I needed and sent them to another employee (Ed) who at the time wasn't even working. This is a real neighborhood store and what a great selection. I found everything I needed for my tiny house on wheels. The first time there, I shopped with the store manager, Ron. He was patient and knowledgeable and when he interacted with other store employees, I was pleased to see their great morale...perhaps a sign of his leadership. The second time there, Jeff was equally courteous and offered helpful suggestions, as he lead me around, knowing exactly where to go next. I cannot imagine dealing with better people and certainly, in most other huge, impersonal stores, I would never expect to find this quality of attention...if a sales clerk could be found...and quality of product. I am ready to hit the road but first, I have to go back to Ace to buy 2 more items. Nice store and what I remember as a child going to a hardware store with my dad. read more

Wanna be made to feel stupid ? Go here. Very poor customer service. I went there today to return some items, and I was told that I have to return them at the Ace store I purchased them at. I've never heard of this. Clerk said it is a new policy. She asked if I want to talk to a manager, I said no I understand the policy, I just thought it was a terrible one. She called the manager anyway and told her "this customer does not understand the new policy". I said "are you f'ing stupid? I told you i understood". I've never had a problem returning items between chain stores with receipt and rewards proof. Ridiculous. None of my business there again. I highly recommend Montgomery Hardware. A little farther drive but way better service !!!!! As far as I am concerned stay on the north side with your general store and get the hell out of the valley. Outstanding customer service! I live in NW Spokane and actually drove to this location because of a special key cutter that they have. A closer Ace location had the special machine, but would not cut my key. Ron, the store manager, was very helpful and knowledgeable. He was able to cut the special "sidewinder" key and it worked great. read more

This location is smaller than most locations. The staff acts as if they are being put out when they are asked for information. This has happened not once, not twice......better know what you need before you go. read more

Be aware the store on Argonne will cancel online orders if the item is out of stock in their store (even though it showed in stock when the order was placed). They offered to get the item from another store but would not honor the purchase price of the cancelled item and wanted $14 extra. Deceptive practice at best, dishonest at worst. I'll never shop there again. read more

Products are always busted or have been opened and are half gone and they leave it all out to be purchased, always have to wait for products to come in because they only order a handful. Younger sales associates are very rude and would rather sit and talk than help customers or ring anyone up. This is not one occasion-pretty much every visit. I will definitely drive the distance to go to another store. read more
