My home recently sold, and I have spent the better part of the last few weeks patching and repainting nearly every room of the house. Yesterday, I spent majority of the day adding a coat of paint for the one color that spans most of the house. As the work progressed, I occasionally stopped to check and ensure things were looking good. I did notice that the paint looked slightly different, but assumed it likely just needed extra time to dry. This morning I inspected again - but found the same odd splotchy sheen in areas I painted the patches. Completely unlike the prior coat's sheen. So I brought the cans into the store today along with a slew of photos and videos to help them understand the issue. I had assumed they'd help provide options to fix the issue, as my window to have the house ready for the new owners is rapidly shrinking. Oddly, this was not the case. Two store reps just kind of shrugged their shoulders and told me I'd need to wait a couple months before the sheen would die down. When I asked them why this one batch of paint was behaving so differently from any other color or paint coat I had laid down in the last 4 years, I again got the same shrug & no solution. Even rooms I had patched and painted using Miller Paint but a different color did not result in this weird splotchy sheen. Feeling a meltdown approaching, I opted to leave. I then called another store - the person that answered the call just kept asking the same questions over and over & kept saying they needed details, which I provided over and over. Feeling this person just simply did not care to help, I called the company's headquarters in Oregon. Stuck in phone tree hell for close to 20 min (option 3 doesn't go to sales, but redirects to some vacation rental place), I finally gave up and headed back home - no solution, same awful shiny splotchy walls, and 2 days down the drain to the close day of my house. For such a basic issue, and for a customer that has spent thousands of dollars on their paint products, I was floored at the overall experience (or lack thereof). It could have been as easy as not providing a paint solution, but refunding my money. I will never recommend or use their products again. Save your time and money & find a different paint supplier.

And all of the shops we visited while in town were struggling with identity crisis. As for Uncles: Good: Board game selection is better than the other shops we visited in town Bummer: Not a cafe and no obvious place to play a game, so likely intended as strictly retail rather than a gaming space. (No harm no foul...just offering an observation for the advantage of others) Bad: Nobody offered to help (employees stayed behind the counter while we were there). Odd: Organization/layout and display shelves were a challenge. Some areas were clearly organized and others less so. Just when I started to think I was understanding the organizational scheme, I'd find a game that obviously belonged with a group of others on the other side of the store. Just my opinion, but there is enough selection here that an alphabetical layout scheme would probably make sense. Suggestion: Pick an identity: Toy store or game shop? Gone are the days of the bizarrely mixed toy department in the basement of the local sporting goods store. Board games have moved beyond classification as "toys" and into the realm of being a true hobby all its own. If Uncles decides to focus up as a game store, consider dumping the little kid toys and leaning heavier into collectibles loved by most gamers (e.g. Funko, Iron Studios, Superhero/Fantasy/Sci-Fi stuff, etc.) Parking: rough. (Seemed as though downtown paid street parking was the only option.) Pricing is pretty standard for brick and mortar...a touch higher than you can find online in most cases. (I call it the "Instant Gratification Tax.") At the end of the day, I came away feeling as though the shop might be run by a pair of contentious siblings...one who loves modern board games and the other who is convinced that kid's toys are the way to go. Combining them in this small a space was OK in the '80s but now is just confusing for both groups.

Again, huge selection and I'm frankly surprised and impressed to see such a good toy store in a mall. Prices are high but about what you'd expect. Basically full retail price on everything. Parking sucks. I was there for less than three hours today and paid damn near $7 to use the ramp! I know they have a validation scheme where if you get three validations you get a watery discount, but it's just too much work. Just gimme the first hour free huh? Full validation for paying customers? Anyway... it's a bitter pill to swallow since coming downtown already comes with its own headaches. But I digress.

The only books that can withstand chewing, ripping, throwing, dunking and so on. Great for babies.

It felt like I was treated not as a customer to be helped, but as a dad they could take advantage of, simply trying to make his daughter happy. I never expected a local business to treat local families this way. I should have kept going to the larger store where transparency and fairness are more reliable.
