Supporting local is important. They have a wide selection of items, from household to gardening to outdoor gear and everything in between. This is one of the larger Ace Hardware stores in the area. They have a wide variety of the usual hardware items as well as many others such as a Carhartt clothing. The staff we ran into were all helpful and friendly. The store is well organized and tidy. Grab a bag of complimentary popcorn on your way in or out if you need a snack. This is my primary "go to" place anywhere in Spokane for unusual fasteners and hardware. They have so much more selection than any Big Box stores, that it totally makes up for the slight extra charge on prices, plus they seem to have little if any weak Chinese Grade-3 hardware. Everyday Grade-5 is so much stronger, and they have Grade-8 if you need super strength for mounting a trailer hitch or other industrial uses. "Old Man Jack" is super knowledgeable and helpful, too! This hardware store is pretty handy if you are in this neighbor, and the parking lot is huge! I've been into this store several times looking for various items, but I don't always have luck with the item that I'm searching for. Recently, it was a outside lawn chair. Normally, this store has them, but late in the year and COVID, they had sold out a long time ago when most people starting using their own backyards for entertainment. There was probably a big run on those outdoor chairs well before I ventured out to look. I've also looked for gloves here, and they have a pretty good selection of gardening/work/outdoor gloves all year. The registers are by the front door and the clerks are pretty friendly and ask if they can help the moment you walk in the door (especially if they aren't too busy). Masks are required. read more

I am so upset. The ACE website showed an item in stock for pickup TODAY at the store on Spokane south hill. There are many Ace's but this one that had my item and was 74 miles away. I paid for it so it would be ready. I drove there and was told that the item was not there and not in stock that the warehouse would bring it over. OK I'll wait when will it be here? 4 days. WHAT???? Again the item was shown as in stock with pickup same day. I stood there for a good 20 minutes waiting for the staff to try and figure this out. What a bait and shift !!!! The store manager was very apologtic. Thank God she was the manager as the employee that was looking and couldnt figure it out was so rude!!! So the store employee tells me they cannot cancel my order, I have to call customer service to cancel. I call to cancel and the customer service tells me the store has to cancel it. This ace is terrible. They never have what we need which is unfortunate since this is the closest hardware store to our house. I think it would be helpful to get someone to do inventory who actually knows something about construction and projects. Also they have terrible paint don't buy it here. This store is the definition of overpriced. Ace stores are allowed to pick from three tiers of pricing based on what the store wants. This Ace has their prices ABOVE the highest allowed tier. Their staff is normally pretty kind, but one worker named Dashell is incredibly rude. She's repeatedly made rude and inappropriate comments to customers who ask for her help as well as myself. She's incredibly rude. Item avilibilty is lacking, and with their remodel, it seems like many products are out of stock and have been for a while. Probably THE best Ace Hardware I've frequented. Home Depot is still my "go to" for most purchases based on cost, but for special projects and services it's hard to beat Ace. Here's why: 1.) Superior service. Tons of friendly people readily available to help from checkout stands to hardware, the service counter to the repair shop. Also, depth of knowledge is at least 3/4" deeper here than Home Depot. The key cutting booth is always tended at the service counter, and keys take all of 30 seconds to copy. 2.) Quality products and specialty items. They seem to keep a better stock of more expensive, yet higher quality tools. Hardware and fastener selection is solid, and the bins are clearly marked and easy to browse. If I really care how something will look, perform, or maintain, I'll often find myself here. 3.) The repair shop is quick and convienent. They sharpen blades for around $8-12 depending on type. Mowers, chainsaws, saw saws, machetes, daggers my wife shoots at me across the dining room table, they keep it all pointy and cutty. They did a good job servicing my chainsaw and it's running like a dream. Prices seem a bit high (about $85 for a package on the chainsaw) but the piece of mind is worth it to me. Overall, about 15% more than Home Depot on the same item, yet they also keep higher quality stuff stocked you simply won't find at HD. Couple this with great service and a humming repair shop and I'm hooked. Not for everyday shopping, but great when you're able to splurge a bit on quality. P.S. The rewards program is pretty weak but the card will grab you sticker price savings throughout the store. read more

I hate going to this Ace Store " the unhelpful and unfriendly place" Most of the guys walk around with headsets on and when you approach them they pretend to be busy or talking to someone on their headset. They make you feel invisible. The only reason I ever go there is because it's closest to home. There is one older gentleman that has worked in the plumbing department for a long time. He is great. Friendly, helpful. Always greets you with a smile. I look forward to having him help me find what I need. I'm worried he may have retired as I haven't seen him this spring . The neighborhood Ace Hardware . . . I'm surprised I haven't reviewed them yet! I'm into this building at least once a month; last visit was two weeks back for a couple of dowels and some ant traps, before that was for bolts for my license plate. This place is perfectly-sized and always has what I need . . . and I love not having to deal with the big box stores! After two attempts and finally seeing purchase pending on my bank acct I thought this is great. NOT so fast! Chapter 3. I never got an email saying my order was ready to pick up. Still can see order amount on my bank acct. finally called Regal store. Not in their cue. Hmmmmm. Called Monroe store. Not in their cue. Called 1800 ace help line. Sorry. We don't help anyone on the weekend. Chapter 4. Monday. Calling 1800 ace. Waited 65 minutes to talk w someone. No your order was not complete. Hmmmmm. How can that be if my credit card is pending. Chapter 5. A week later. I put on my mask went to Regal ace. Too many people. No way to social distance so I left. Chapter 6. I went early am. Few people at first. Some employees masked. Others were not! Some gloved. Others not! Finally bought what I needed. Chapter 7. Reviewed my receipt when I got home. There was an error and I had been charged for wrong quantity. Called Ace. Please return and we will fix this. Chapter 8. Drove all the way back to town. Got my refund. Chapter 9. Fertilized my lawn. We are in a pandemic. Ace needs to adjust their practices and kick it up a couple notches. Update. Three weeks later a clerk from another Ace Hardware called to say my order was in. What order I asked? Bought A Weber grill from the South Hill Ace Hardware. Purchased one day, picked up next day. Was promptly greeted at the door by Galen and told him I was to pick up my grill. He headed to the back and retrieved it quickly. He then helped me load it into my rig as we talked about music we both love. This store is so hit an miss. Some of the employees are fantastic. Some could not care less about the customers or their jobs and it shows. The cashiers are usually great and the folks that roam the isles asking customers if they need help are great. Last time I was in, a younger manager was clearly arguing with a really old customer at the register and was being with rude to him. The old gentleman was clearly too old and polite to fully stand up to this guy. I've also waited 20+ minutes for help after some one was called and no one showed. Hit or miss. I don't buy many expensive things here anymore, just odds and ends when I don't feel like going to Home Depot. It's a shame because this is the biggest store of its kind in the south hill. read more

After a week of visiting Spokane Valley and other Ace hardwares we where left feeling the chain had enter Kmart, JCP, and other junk stores that should be closed. I have shopped at this store numerous times because of it's convenient location, but never again. Yesterday, I went there looking for some replacement spools for my Craftsman weed trimmer that I had purchased at that very store a few months prior. After looking for several minutes by myself (there were no employees anywhere near me) I failed to find the spools. I know from past experience that just because you don't see it on the shelf does not mean that they don't have it in stock. I was right next to the lawn mower repair area where an employee who had been on the telephone call, finished. I walked up to him and said, "Excuse me." He looked up, clearly annoyed, and said, "What do you want?" I said, "May I ask you a question?" In an angry and loud voice he asked, "What do you want?!" I told him what I was looking for. He said in a very brusque voice, "We don't carry those - okay?" He then looked away clearly dismissing me. As I was leaving the store I passed by the so-called "Customer Service" counter and told the young lady behind the counter that the person I had just spoken to could use some lessons in manners and customer service. She just stared at me and didn't say a word. Her only reaction was to kind of shrug her shoulders. I said, "I can see you don't care either," to which she just stared at me with that same dead pan expression. At that point I left the store never to return. This isn't my first bad experience with the staff at this Ace Hardware. Most of the time they ignore you completely or they try to fake it. They once tried to sell me an oven cord to replace my clothes dryer cord telling me it was the same thing. As I mentioned earlier, I will never go back. read more

If u ask the right people I guarantee you can find what your looking for. if not: a handful of employees will go out of their way to makeshift or direct you to a place to get the product you want, which is very rare in retail now days. They also independently employ a full staff of employees to assist you which you could never get at the big box stores. also their online catalog is incredible and they can generally: order you a rare product and recieve it in three or less days. all these reviews i read about them being high priced is outrageous considering they actually support our community and employ our peers and have employees that are willing to try and help you. five stars from me. read more

This Ace is handy if you are located in this neighborhood, but I wouldn't go out of my way to shop here if it weren't the most convenient option. Comparing it to other hardware options in Spokane they just don't have the same selection, so you might want to call prior to driving over. However, the benefit of this location is that if you just need something simple you don't have to drive too far just to pick up a can of paint or a pack of screws. I was there about 8:30 PM on 5/6 and I was very impressed with the manner that a female clerk used with a horrible "customer" who was arrogant and obnoxious....and most likely dishonest. The Good: This is a relatively generic Ace in a prosperous neighborhood, so it has all of the ordinary things you expect to find at an Ace, plus a pretty wide selection of miscellaneous luxury goods and specialty items. I would (for the reasons below) be tempted to give them only two stars, but I have to admit that I have found exactly what I was looking for every one of the 20+ times I've visited, and been impressed by the breadth of their inventory. The Bad: They are, as other reviewers have noted, somewhat overpriced, no doubt due to their location and proximity to H/berry's. Worse still, their customer service is worse than bad; it is creepy and unpleasant. Not only do they bug you incessantly, they also quietly communicate with each other over radio about you so they can do so more insidiously. If you are capable of asking for help when you need it and can't stand saying "no thanks, I know what I'm looking for" more than a dozen times before leaving a store, then chose another hardware store. read more

Ace is a bad neighbor. It's more than ironic that a store that makes money from selling home improvement products keeps up it's own grounds so poorly. It would take half an hour to weed around this store. Instead giant weeds infiltrate all over their property. Even if some of the weeds are in the street run off ditch, I don't understand why this store allows itself to be an eyesore and to spread weed seeds. Maybe they think it will help sell herbicide. Also, the neighborhood around ACE gets punished because ACE allows kids to take their free pop and throw the containers all over the neighborhood. I spoke to ACE about this and their response was "What do you want us to do about it." That's the response of an irresponsible bad neighbor. read more
