Dave has been working there for over 5 years and he is very passionate and knowledgeable about bikes. He helped me feel confident in the bike I chose for my upcoming Triathlon and the training I'll do beforehand. I have never been so sure of a purchase in my life. I explained that I hadn't been on a bike in years, so he thoroughly explained to me all the things I need to understand (height, type of bike I needed, safety features, how to use the gears) in order to choose the right bike. I went back a week later and bought a distance computer and other items for my training. I have never received top notch customer service from anyone as I have with Dave. Do yourself a favor and go see Dave! I would gladly drive from North Hollywood during rush hour to go see him Pasadena for all my bike needs. read more

I would give Dicks a Zero, but 1 is the minimum rating. Mangers were unfriendly and didn't offer any helpful suggestions. Customer service = fail! Won't be shopping Dicks in the future! I've spent a ton of time and money in this store but today was surreal... I needed a pair of youth football cleats, ASAP. After wandering around the shoe section for 15 minutes, I finally found someone to help me. She said, "We don't carry youth football cleats. We used to, but no longer." First, how can you not carry football cleats... during football season? It's the first week of October and the season won't end for months... plus this store is enormous. Second, how about offering to find a pair for me at another store... or order a pair? The thought never crossed her mind. She just shrugged her shoulders and walked away. Such an amazing store with wonderful staff! They have such a wide selection of items to buy. I came in looking for a simple shoe insert and the employee who helped me, Robert, was very helpful in finding the right one for me. He even found me a shoe that helped support the arch of my foot. This store always has a deep selection of sizes and styles of sports athletic apparel. They just updated their shoe area and it is organized much better. Customer service is 5 stars. Jason was extremely helpful in finding me a pair of Adidas Soccer Shoe Mundail. Due to CA State restriction the shoe can't be shipped to CA due to the fact that it is made of Kangaroo Leather (a Ridiculous restriction by CA hippie legislature). This is for the Bike department. The store itself is great, pricey but stocked to the gills with whatever you need and a good staff, great selection, wide aisles, but for Bikes? Run!!!!! I took my 11 year old for a bike, the associate shows us a bike, my son loves it, its on sale, we reserve it, we come back and the tech who does know what he's doing says its not his size, we choose another bike, we reserve it, we come back after a while to pick it up, gears wont work, we order the SAME bike online, we get it, we take it in on a Tuesday afternoon, promised by Tuesday night, then Wednesday morning, I gave them Thursday off, I call Friday morning, not put together, I got angry and the associate promises to call me back, he doesn't, I call and there is a broken part that they need to order, now its ANOTHER 4 days to get there then who knows how long to put it together. My son misses a three day 4th of July weekend. I should have paid more and gone to a shop the specializes in bicycles. Aaaargh. read more

I am very very very sad that Chicks has now become Dicks. Everything about an "easy shopping experience" has changed now that chicks is gone. I loved the product, the availability of the product, the managers & the sales associates. Everything was easy to find & the prices were great. Dicks on the other hand- has been very sad. Poor customer service, they seem to be out of stock for a majority of their products, being soccer socks or men's plain white tees. The friendly employees I use to see & love to get advise from seem to have vanished & all the people there now look like they can care less if you shop there or not. I can understand if I asked for something that's not common, but it's snow chains, how do you work at a sporting store that sells gears for the mountains and not know what snow chains are!!?? Bad Bike Department!. Was picking up my bike, tested it in the store and some guy Lawrence said I broke the bike. This would be by me pedaling it around the store for 1 minute to test it. I waited patiently for about a half hour while he tried to fix it and he kept saying - YOU broke the bike YOU broke the bike. Cables were sagging, parts were falling off the bike, I tried to get the managers there to help me but they REALLY did not care.Since I did not trust the repair he was doing on the bike, I went to another Dicks in Covina sporting goods to get the bike, It all worked out well because I got a different bike that was on a 50% sale there. read more

What happened to this place? Are they trying to follow Sports Chalet! The service has dropped, you can't find anyone to help you and they are understaffed in the back of the store. The staff we saw looked miserable and they forgot to place one of our items in the bags. It's going to be a while before I return. Tighten it up and re-focus. read more

I really loathe entering this store, even if it's to simply pick up an online order. Every person working here acts like they're doing you a huge favor, from the cashiers to the person who begrudgingly opens the fitting room door for you. Why is everyone working here so miserable or too-cool-for-school? Is working for Dick's that sh*tty of a career choice? Apparently so. And how come every time you want to try on an item of clothing automatically means a 10 minute wait for someone to finally open the (locked) fitting room door once you ring the doorbell? If Dick's official corporate policy is discourage customers from trying on items prior to purchase, then we can all we simply buy everything online at Amazon from now on. And I get that retail stores have music piped in, but this place sounds like a bad nightclub with the world's worst DJ. When you have to literally shout to the cashier there might be an audio level problem. Is there ANY management at this location, or do the inmates run the asylum. This past weekend, my family went to buy some softball equipment. Cat in the shoe department was extremely helpful in buying the right softball cleat for our daughter. She was patient and helpful with us. Joe in the athletic team department was also extremely helpful. He was very careful in finding the right helmet for our daughter. Joe took the time to fit her with at least six helmet to find the best one for her. He also gave us good advice on buying the proper equipment. They are both friendly and knowledgeable. Worst customer service! Ordered a bike online and brought it in store to have it assembled. The reps there said the bike tech would call me once it is done. I called 2 times in the next 3-4 days and was told they are busy and will give me a call when it is done. Waited another 4 or 5 days and still have not heard from them. Finally called them and was transfer to 6 different people before I can get an answer. I was then told that the bike was done 4 days ago and that I should have known? I went in to get a tennis racket restrung. As I walked a girl at the checkout asked if I wanted to get a racket restrung. When I said yes she said it was 7-10 days. I had been in the week before so I knew the person doing the restringing was working that day. She repeated the info and then the manager stepped in. He checked to see when the restringer was working and then offered to see how many rackets were waiting. On the way back I said "She sure knows how to drive business away." He immediately apologized. After seeing that there were only 3 rackets waiting he asked when I needed it done by and and put a priority rush on it without me asking. He, Arman, is the reason I will go back to that store. I went to Dick's Sporting Goods to order some football gloves 2 weeks before my team would have practice with the trust that they would send my gloves within the 6 day period they tell you it will arrive in, i waited a whole week and the gloves did not arrive and the order was cancelled, i am very dissapointed in the way dick's treated my order even after i had called them three times to make sure they were on their way. read more

If I could give this place a ZERO I would. It started by me trying to call them to ask if they had an item in stock...I must have gone through 6 different people and was on hold for around 15-20 mins JUST to find out if they had the item in stock. No one could seem to fine the person who could check on the item. Finally someone from the department came on the phone and said YES they have the item in stock. So I hop in the car and drive the 25 mins to get there which was no biggie. It was pretty late but the store wasn't closing for an hour and a half...the store was almost empty. I went to the department that my item was in and there wasn't anyone around. There were 4 or 5 'associates' at the front of the store all standing around doing nothing. I finally flagged a guy down and asked him for help...he said he had to get someone from that department...so he radioed the person and told them that there was someone in the bike section needing to purchase a bike....so after about 5 mins a person came out of the back room and before she got to me some guy stepped in and started asking her questions about an item he was interested in.....I waited for 10 minutes while she helped this guy...I finally went to the front of the store and interrupted the crew who were still just hanging out....the guy told me that no one could help me except the person designated to the bike department which I knew was total BS....so I go back to the bike section and the girl finally came to help me...as I was telling her what I wanted she scanned the item and confirmed that it was in stock...as I was asking her questions the other guy who she'd been helping decides to jump in and start asking her questions again about his items telling her that he was going to need help getting his item to his car...she looks at me and says shes going to go help this guy and for me to hang on. So I make my way to the front of the store where I waited another 15 minutes...she finally gets his item to his car, comes back in and disappears to the back for 5 minutes....she comes back out and tells me that the item I want IS in stock but it's in a storage bin outside the store locked up and that she can't get it out so I would have to come back tomorrow! I asked if she could ship it to me and she said it would take a week! ridiculous! Now I've been to other Dicks Sporting Goods before and have had decent experiences so not all of them are this way. This boils down to store management and in this case it was POORLY managed, Do not shop at the Pasadena Dicks! Take the time to go to another store. read more

I was an overwhelmed Christmas shopper and I had a great experience at Dicks in Pasadena. Joe, was the salesman who helped me. He was soooo helpful! I had a couple of people to buy for, and several gifts to purchase, and Joe was the MAN! He helped me find several items, some on the sale rack, some regular priced. I rarely write reviews but my experience at this store was unforgettable. I went to the store on a Sunday morning looking for baseball gear for my son who is playing t-ball for the first time. I walked into the store looking like an obvious first time t-ball parent looking around for what my son needed and an associate approached me like he was still high from the night before asked me and two other parents what we needed, he returned to speak with one parent and forgot about me and another parent shopping for his kid. I later approached an older associate and asked about baseball gear for Tball player and in a very dismissive tone told me they were all sold out for gear for players of that age. I continued to look around and found what I needed. After my experience I felt that I was given very poor customer service by the floor associates. The only reason I am giving one star is because the check out staff were very curious. I doubt I will return. read more
