The thing i dont like about these Sporting Stores is that the mark up is way too high. I do understand that these stores probably have large overhead but the fact of the matter is that the internet will kill these businesses if they dont find a way to lower their prices. I needed to come here for a simple fix to a tennis racket, and left extremely happy. Not only do they have a huge selection of goods,But the customer service was on point. I was asked not only once, but twice by two different employees if I needed anything, and was able to get to the right department to get my tennis racket fixed. I agree with a previous review, this place definitely need a bigger selection, better customer service, and the floor should be stocked better. This store doesn't seem to be customer service oriented. After I asked the cashier for help no representative ever helped me. One was casually texting on his phone while another folded shirts. They seemed to ignore the calls over the loud speaker for customer service. Stay away from these store I really don't know how they manage to stay open with bad customer service. Along way I looked at Yeti coolers, running shoes, camping gear and clothing for my family, but was never approached by any employee. I've been to this location before and have always had a pleasant shopping experience. Went there today to buy a couple of items. As usual, the staff walking around stopped to asked if I needed help... They were both courteous. When I went to pay, the cashier that called me to her register was engrossed in conversation with another employee. I walked to her register, put my items on the counter and still, she continued her personal conversation. She started ringing up my items and after about 30 seconds, she finally stopped talking long enough to greet me with "Hi, how are you?" To which I smiled and replied "I'm fi..." Well, I never got to finish my sentence because she decided to pick up where her conversation (with the other employee) left off. Her "Hi, how are you?" was merely a greeting as she didn't really care how I was since she didn't bother to listen to my response. Sigh. Is this how paying customers are treated nowadays? I still give 3 stars because the store has a good selection of what I needed and the two employees that did offer me help shouldn't be dinged for the rude cashier. read more

Everyone was sold out of everthing football except Dicks. As usual, my child lost his mouth guard just prior to practice. I spent an hour driving around to Sports Authority, Big 5, and eventually wandered over to Dicks. They had the product I was looking for (one that didn't have to be boiled...no time for that nonsense) and headed to check out. That is where the process bogged down. Check out took what felt like forever. From the other reviews, it appears that staffing seems to be an issue. If you are not in a hurry, they do have a great selection. read more

Ordered some chairs online and I was able to pick them up within a couple hours. Super easy and very convenient. The staff their was very easy to find and each person that walks in your direction makes it appoint to make sure you are doing okay and to make sure you are finding everything you need. I came in here to look for some tennis shoes on my lunch break. Didn't have crazy amounts of time so I didn't leave with anything. I wish they had more shoes out for you to try on (the expensive ones were though). They didn't have my size in two different styles and I felt bad for the kid having to run back and forth. Might have to come here on a weekend adventure since it's not even remotely close to my house. The selection is huge, the prices are fair. A decent pair of running shoes will run you about $80. They had some for less, but they were more like "cross trainers", and I'm not a fan of shin splints. I didn't get to check the rest of the store out. But it looks really cool. Didn't get greeted at the door or anything, but the young man in the shoe section was really cordial. read more

I've always been a fan of Dick's, and have made many purchases there. Great store, quality merchandise, and cheaper than Big 5 when they have the same merchandise. Hard to believe, but true. Greeted at the door, asked if I needed help, I stated that I did not, as I knew exactly what I wanted. I headed straight to the department, where I asked one employee for assistance with the item, as there is only a demo on the floor because it's too large and heavy to stock on the floor. She referred me to someone else, told him to come assist me. He disappeared. I waited for 10 minutes, assuming he was helping someone else As I left, the same greeter and four other employees were standing around chatting with each other. I wasn't asked whether I couldn't find the item. Dick's has lost my business for keeps. This lack of customer support is what is drives me and millions of others to the internet! read more

The address in google takes you to a gas station by lax and when I called and told the receptionist where I was she was like "ya lol it does that". Not saying she is in the wrong but management must be poor if they know the address is wrong and don't even bother to correct it. I want to give the actual selection a 4 star rating, but the service a 1 or 2. Huge selection of products... very nice, although they might not actually have the size you want. At first, Shannon was really cool helping us ALOT but after we asked her to find us another pair because the shoes we liked had a scratch... She never was to be found. We waited a good 20 minutes so I finally asked another employee and he called her and she said that was the last pair. I asked why she never came back and turn around and now she appears. I asked what happened and she said she was helping in a different dept and apologized. I appreciate she apologized but it was very rude to make your customers wait THAT long. Dicks is probably the best all around sports equipment store in SoCal. Tons of gear and clothes for everyone, except me, sadly. I'm super fit and tall, nobody has clothes in stock for anyone 6'4" and 185lbs. Everything is baggy or too short. I can't blame this on Dicks though, most clothing manufactures don't make things I can wear. I do love coming to Dicks, and they do have shoes that fit me, so that's good. if anyone knows where I can get good stuff to fit a tall fit guy, let me know. read more

This is actually pretty funny, I guess I'm not the only one that thinks their customer service is crap. I went in a while ago to pick up a kayak I had ordered online. As we're getting ready to leave the store and trying to figure out how to go about picking up the kayak from the floor, the cashier that was helping us asked, "Oh do you need some help". Granted it's not an insanely heavy item, it's just big and bulky and we were trying to figure out the best way to pick it up. However, before we could answer "no thank you" because we were ok with taking it ourselves, we heard in the background "OH, It's not heavy". Keep in mind another cashier had already come from behind the counter and was about to see how he could help us carry it out, but when this comment was made he quickly stepped back and said "oh ya ya its not heavy." So who was this person that made the comment? When we turned to look, it was none other than the manager himself. So, if you're asking yourself how it is that this place has such horrible customer service, it STARTS from the top. Yes we didn't need the help, but he was so quick to dismiss his employees attempt to be helpful and courteous towards their customers. Also, SO WHAT if it wasn't heavy what if the person with me couldn't carry it for whatever reason, were you really going to dismiss us before we even had a chance to say no ourselves? Chris in the golf department is the best! My boyfriend was looking for a new driver and went during their big golf sale. Chris was very knowledgeable and helped my boyfriend pick out a couple of drivers to try in the simulator. He would adjust the driver to my boyfriend's hitting habits after few hits in the simulator, have him try again, adjust, and continue until my boyfriend's comfortable with the driver. It's almost like you're on hidden camera when you deal with Dick's. Kind of like the Home Depot of sporting goods. Employees vanish before you're eyes and never appear again and then you call on the phone to inquire about an item and 4 people end up answering the phone (one after the other, placing you on hold) until you finally hang up. This store has everything. I've been to a lot of sporting goods stores, but this one certainly has the largest selection and is the largest sporting goods store that I know of in the L.A. area. I like wearing Under Armour shirts in a variety of colors, and this one has the largest color selection of any other store that I've been to in L.A. I wish I lived closer, but it's not too far a drive for me. read more
