Within 5 minutes of walking in, I knew this place was different. Came here for a sharpening and the guys showed us what a mess my son's blade was! He was pretty much skating on 2 points! What!? I don't think a store has ever won my loyalty and trust as quickly as this team at Surfside did today. Dick's Sporting Goods is Dick's Sporting Goods, if you know what I mean. Any Dick's you go into,…read morethey always are offering very similar items. Some locations have a little bit more of something specific than another location may have, but it always feels very much the same the moment you step into one of the stores. This location is no different. Located right off of PCH in El Segundo, this business is fairly easy to find. It's near the back of the shopping complex, if you're looking for it. As it is such a large shopping complex, with a lot of different businesses, they have a super large parking lot, so parking should never be an issue. Once inside, what you'll find is the sporting goods and the activity goods that you would expect to find at Dick's. They have a little bit of everything. For the very astute professional, in the various sporting fields, they may not have the exacting item that you are looking for. But, for the novice in any field, they pretty much have something at least to get you started. Of course, they have tons of activewear, shoes, sunglasses, all of the various needs for all of the various sports that you can think of. It's just as simple as that. The staff here are all super nice and helpful. They're happy to guide you and help you with any need you may have. Overall, if you need some sporting goods, and you want to get it at a one-stop location, this is your place to do it.

Several loudspeaker announcements of, "We will be closing soon," rang out, even with 45 mins left available. Many of the racks were out of order and rather disheveled. I was also saddened to find that many items were sold out in needed sizes, with only larger sized items still available. One item that I needed was a small wrist brace, but only one was available in that size with the others available in Large. I did find that the brace was good for the value, but was still put off by the state of the store. Also, the staff was chatting around the floor a lot, leaving me waiting at the register for several moments without assistance. Hopefully next time will be better.

I brought my inline skates in for maintenance, and Kevin was fantastic. He's clearly a true technician who knows his craft. While I was there, I watched him help a customer who was purchasing a $200 pair of skates despite being a beginner. He was knowledgeable, patient, and clearly focused on helping the customer find the right equipment. Whether you're looking for a skateboard, roller skates, or inline skates--or simply need maintenance--I highly recommend coming here first. Ask for Kevin.
