He literally had 6 customers within 15 mins and knocked 5 of them out just like that! One person was waiting on ski adjustments which took more time. I came in with a minor road bike tire repair and he solved the problem in seconds! We have now two bike shops on the Westchester area and the other one is shut down until 1/2! These guys are open because ski season is among us and he stays busy! Wise man. Lots of bikes for sale and rental, same with skis, ski boots, helmets, and all the things! Highly recommend this place! I was in need of a new tire & inner tube, I called REI which Is down the street 7 min away & I paid for a membership not knowing how long they take, On top of that they didn't have the fat tire I needed & summit did! REI will get back to you in 5+ days once you drop off your bike, which is understandable but who wants to wait that long?? However, Jason & associates right here takes care of you the same day if not the next, they Leave your bike looking brand new, you walk out of summit ski & cycle like you just got it out the factory! I went to two other places looking for my ski bindings to be adjusted. Neither would claiming they couldn't find my skis in the system. On a whim, I drove to Summit and they had no problem adjusting it. They helped me when no one else could and did a great job! I used the skis this season with no issues. Terrible customer service. The only guy I've seen in there on 3 separate occasions has nothing but attitude. Their rental business operates on a first come first serve basis. But you can't get a clear answer from them as to when to show up. They say deposits open Tuesday at 10. But Tuesday at 10 they "don't have anything back" and won't let me put a deposit. When I ask the dude to give me a straight answer on what the best time to come back is he goes off on me for having attitude when all I'm trying to get is a straight answer. They broke the cardinal rule of business, don't make it hard for your customers to give you money. If you need the equipment to be returned in order to size for rentals, you should set up your business so that you receive all or most of your rentals on say Tuesday, you clean, inspect, maintain your inventory, then open for rentals on Wednesday. If for no other reason than to be able to give your customers a straight answer on when to come back. I really wanted to give these guys a chance, they're a small business in my neighborhood. I gave them multiple chances despite their rudeness and their ineptitude. But after being yelled at for having the nerve to ask for a straight answer I was done. I immediately called another place, albeit further away, and was able to not only get a straight answer on their rental process, but they also had available inventory, and were much more friendly. read more

A year ago, I bought a "Covid-19" bike so I could continue spinning at home- watching Videos- etc. SO i was lucky to be able to get a new 21 Speed Road Bike - but the manufacturer required that I have it professionally set up in order to qualify for their extended Warranty. These folks did just that, and in 3 hours, they also gave me a detailed Invoice etc. Their service was very reasonably priced too. More importantly, I had new confidence in the safety of the unit. Fast forward a year- a broken rear gear cable, blown inner tube- rear, some rusting form the local sea air and inaccurate gear shifting of the front derailleur system (shimano). I dropped it off and 24 hours it was better than brand new! and very "cleaned up! I even shaved off 4 minutes from an 18 mile on-line Ironman Ride course in Tennessee (thank you Rouvy!) . They did a fantastic job and once again, very reasonably priced. Given this kind of service, it is no surprise they have been in the neighborhood for over 29 years.... thank you!! This is so going to become my new go to for renting skis. I started skiing and hated going in the morning before hitting the slopes to get skis. The fit was meh and the service rushed. Here, the quality of the skis and boots are so much better. Mind you, if you come early in the snow season, they may not allow you to rent (lack of snow isn't good for their equipment yknow) They also do some pretty cool bike stuff. I'm not a bike person. I'm solely here for skis. I'm not sure if they rent out snowboards, but it doesn't hurt to call and ask. Another note, very friendly owners. Summit Ski & Cycle shop ROCKS! This place was recommended by a neighborhood friend, and I'm super happy to support the local Mom & Pop's kinda shops (here it is Pop and Son's shop). Service is SUPER FAST and professional, reasonable, and fair! After about 10 years of sitting in the garage, my (kinda pricey) mountain bike made it's debut here in Southern California. I purchased the mountain bike in Boulder, CO and used to do a lot of trail riding. The bike has been sitting for a long time. I took it riding this past week out along the Venice Beach boardwalk and realized that after 10 years of sitting, there was junk all in the gears, the shifters weren't working properly, and the bike needed a tune up. A friend recommended Summit Ski & Cycle. I walked into the shop and was quickly greeted by the friendly sales associate (son of owner?), Jay (I hope that is his name). He was super helpful in explaining the different type of bike tune-up services that they offer. They have the regular tune up (about $45?) that they cake the bike and clean up your gears, clean the parts, and put everything back together again. They have the delux tune up (about $74?) that they take apart the ENTIRE bike, clean it, and put it back together again. I got the delux package, and my bike looks brand new, sparkly & shiney, and professionally maintained! Adjust Hand Brake: CHECK. True Wheel adjustment: CHECK Adjust Derail: CHECK Adjust Hub: CHECK Adjust Head & Bottom Bracket: CHECK. Take apart the entire bike (including bearings, shifters, gears): TRIPLE CHECK! Install new shifters: CHECK. Install Quicklinks for Chains: CHECK. Make the bike safe: CHECK!!!!!!!!! Three days later, my bike was ready for pickup! How QUICK is that service?! WOW! WHAT? I needed new shifters on my mountain bike? They got me a brand new set of Shimano shifters for a mere $39.99 (INSTALLED!!!). I also got quick links for my chains for a mere $2.99!!! Can you say HOLLAH!?!?!!!! What I really liked about this place was that they did not try to oversell you any service or product that you did not need. They recommended the best service and parts to make your bike SAFE! Now THAT is integrity and ethical behavior! Prices are FAIR! Grade: A+ Service is QUICK! Great family owned business...........with one exception. Got my bike fixed in a reasonable amount of time and now its as good as new, of this I have no complaints. All the gears now shift properly and my bike was returned to me all polished up and ready to go. A solid "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" 5 star recommendation. THE EXCEPTION: There's this ONE guy who works there (an older white haired man) who absolutely has no social skills and comes off quite confrontational. The day I came in to drop off my bike for its tune-up, I stood there (all smiles) for a moment and he comes up to me all serious and said to me "yeaaaaaah...you need something?" I was like "damn did I steal from this guy or what?" I snapped to it and politely asked for what they charged for truing a wheel and or if they offer a tune up service. He stopped what he was doing and went over the list with me. At that point I just wanted to finish our transaction and get out. Overall I think this guy is either the actual owner who's seen better days, or the loser brother of the other nice man that works there (with his son) who was forced to work at the shop to pay off a gambling debt. I dont know. But to Mr. Grumpy Pants I say "Lighten Up Fucker!" You are employed at your age and one is making you do this! I may come back for future repairs, they are pretty damn good at what they do. read more
