Armen is the man! He's given me a lot of great advice on what kind of things I can do to upgrade my bike, as well as have better performance. He's very meticulous and detail-oriented when it comes to his service, and highlights the different things he look for. I highly recommend his drivetrain cleaning monthly service, as well as his bike fit. I trust his advice and I trust him with my bikes.

Even went riding the same day! Thanks Elmer!

I am sure everyone knows how hard it is to find a good bike mechanic, but look no further! Elmer at Bicycle Pit Stop is your man. I just bought a bike from Canyon, and surprise surprise, something was wrong with my bike and the rear wheel would not free spin. I contacted Canyon and DT Swiss, which were both no help, and then brought it to Elmer. He took the thing apart and fixed the issue for me same day. He tuned up my bike and made sure everything else was working perfectly. Spectacular service! He even kept in touch with me via text as he worked on the bike. This is my new go to bike shop. Thanks Elmer!

Armen and his colleagues are VERY friendly and communicative! I wanted a simple tune-up and to look into options around cleaning up a scratch and terrible paint repair by the shop I bought the bike (new!) from in downtown LA. While that shop was not very helpful in coming up with solutions (and flat out told me there was nothing they could do), Armen took a look at them and helped brainstorm a delightfully creative solution - add reflective white tape to the front forks to cover the scratch and add some subtle flair! He even let me take some of the tape home so I could apply it myself in the way I was envisioning, with helpful advice on how to apply to achieve the best results. My bike is now in excellent working condition, tuned up, scratch- and blemish-free, and ready to take over the streets!

Horrible job fixing my flat tube. The tube bubbled and then popped the next day. Dude wasn't very friendly and was a know it all. Could've just simply fixed my tube but insisted my bike wasn't a good bike and his were. He was also a little condescending smh. I paid $140 to fix my flat tire and now it's flat again almost instantly. He wouldn't even tell me what was the cause of the flat besides a splinter? Yeah ok... never going back there

    Sweet setup at new spot!

It just doesn't get old, bringing my bike to Armen and his protege Elmer at this elite bike shop. My bike continues to feel/ride better than ever. Amazing work and the difference is the "Pride" that Armen thrives on when he touches my bike and the rest. Soon he'll be relocating to Alhambra, California. Bring your bike(s) in for service or upgrade ideas.. you'll see what I'm talking about. Thanks Armen and Elm!!

This is the only time I've been compelled to write a yelp review…read more I recently purchased some new caliper brakes for my bike. Upon installation I noted that my brake cables and cable housing needed to be replaced. I can do this myself and have many times before. I usually do my own bike maintenance, and have for years, unless it's something I don't have the tools or knowledge to fix. In this case I simply didn't want to be bothered ordering cables and housing and decided to take it to have done. First impression of the shop is grimey, cluttered and disorganized. I explained what I wanted done and the proprietor quoted me a reasonable price and gave me a reasonable time frame for the work to be done. Everything seems great so far. I arrive for pick up, first thing I notice is that my bike is in the center of a bike sandwich leaning against one of the walls. Concern.gif. He removes it none too gently. Cable has been replaced, I note that the rear cable adjuster is in the maximum position that you would use to tighten the cable. I begin to spin the adjuster to check cable tension when the proprietor tells me vehemently to not touch it. I wonder why, explain this is the cable tension adjuster and I'm adjusting it. He again tells me not to touch it. I actuate the (also new) brake lever, and it feels spongy, not crisp, and doesn't fully spring back into place. I voice my concerns at which point he squeezes the brakes a couple of times and tells me it's fine. It is not. I again reach for the adjuster and he again tells me not to touch it, his voice raising, saying it twice. I think that I'll just have to take it elsewhere, thank him and leave. Outside I examine his "work," more closely and note that the cable tension adjuster is non functional, and that now there is half of an internal component of the tensioner, a washer?, protruding from the new caliper brake. I attempt to adjust the tensioner. It is non functional. I return into the shop and point out the damage, and demonstrate the tensioner does not work. He again says not to touch it. I explain that it is designed to be touched, it is for adjustments. He tells me he does not see the washer, which is believable as he's quite old, and that he didn't touch that part, yet he would have had to when installing the cable. I'm getting upset at this point, another customer waiting for service overhears this exchange and decides against this shop, telling me "Sorry, bro," as he wisely wheeled his bike out and presumably to a better shop. That was my experience, lesson learned. Sometimes you can judge a book by it's cover. My only thought now is that I hope my rear caliper isn't permanently damaged. Addendum: also noted some fresh cosmetic damage as well.

I have an "A-race" coming up and needed my bike to have a basic general tune-up. I brought the bike to "BIKE SHOP XYZ" with significantly high Yelp reviews in terms of quality and quantity. After reading the reviews very carefully, I felt comfortable bringing my bike there. Long story-short, 2 weeks later my bike was not at all repaired, mechanic could not complete the wiring/cabling, gave up, & contacted me to discuss picking up the bike. In fact, the bike was in worse condition than when I dropped it off. ~~~~~~IN COMES MONTEBELLO BICYCLES~~~~~~ After picking up my bike, I immediately went to MONTEBELLO BICYCLES due to my previous mechanic's recommendation (he moved away). Upon entering the store, I was politely greeted by Bea. Shortly after, I was introduced to Aldo (Bea informed me that he would be the main mechanic working on my bike). With much worry and some anxiety, I explained my situation that I needed the bike in short order, my bike was dysfunctional, and needed significant repair. They did not interrupt me at all because they were actively & PATIENTLY LISTENING to my entire situation (& it was a lengthy story). The largest issue with my bike was the challenging cabling/wiring that my bike required. They were very careful not to make any promises. However, Aldo explained how he would approach repairing my bike by giving me about 4-5 technical scenarios. Aldo advised me that I could leave the bike and it might take ONE WEEK or more to complete. As mentioned earlier, he did not make me any promises, but based on our conversation, I felt comfortable leaving the bike with them. Less than 12 hours later, I received a voicemail from MONTEBELLO BICYCLES that my bike is completed and ready for pickup!!!! The cabling/wiring was done PERFECTLY. It was re-wired to the same specifications as my previous mechanic's design (who has now moved, hence, my need for a new mechanic), but now with new cables/wires, parts, etc. They let me test ride the bike and afterwards, Aldo even made some very important adjustments (which would have impacts to aerodynamics and speed) which he gladly did both carefully and swiftly. Both Bea and Aldo are very polite, conduct themselves like professionals, communicate well, are active/patient listeners, definitely have solid experience, exceptional/competitive/fair pricing, are HONEST, great character, have highly technical skills, and lastly go above and beyond what many would do for their customers. Trust me, if you are their customer, you are in good hands. I also had an issue with rebuilding my wheel hub. They could have easily performed this service for me, but recommended I go to another local wheel specialist because they would have the parts in stock, hence, could service it faster, and I would have my bike faster than they could do it. I called the local wheel specialist and Bea was gracious enough to answer all the technical questions that the wheel specialist had for me. Bea & Aldo essentially gave away that business (rebuilding wheel hub service) to another company for my personal benefit and NOT theirs. They put me (the customer) above any profit they could have had doing the service themselves. They knew I needed my bike very soon and keeping the bike there would take precious time from ordering parts, etc. This is the HONESTY I mentioned above. Just like when finding the doctor you trust, the reliable plumber, the dentist that you see annually, ALDO & BEA at MONTEBELLO BICYCLES are now my go-to bike mechanics for all my service needs. Thank you so very much Aldo and Bea!!!! I greatly appreciate all you did for me in such short order (especially knowing how important I needed my bike back ASAP, but how very complicated the repair would be). P.S.: They also do weekly bikes rides starting at their shop. If you are local and looking to make good friends, you might consider stopping by for this.

I had just purchased new tires because I wanted a different tread, not because anything was wrong. After picking up my bike, my rear tire was flat. I pumped it up and continued my ride, but it went flat again shortly after. I returned to the shop to ask if something may have gone wrong during installation. Instead of taking a look or acknowledging the possibility of an installation issue, they told me my tube was the problem and tried to sell me a replacement. This was frustrating, especially since I had no issues before bringing my bike in. I usually go to REI for service but wanted to support a local bike shop. Unfortunately, this experience did the opposite. The lack of accountability is the main reason I'm writing this review. I ended up going back to REI, where the issue was properly addressed.
