But, thankfully I got to test ride one today, and it felt... cheap. So, when I arrived at Open Trails, and Dave said he used to sell Aventons, but they are really "crappy" (Dave might've used a stronger word ) I knew immediately that we were on the same page about quality. If you love hikes, but prefer a little bit more of an adrenaline rush, I would definitely take an e-bike tour with this company. My boyfriend and I signed up for a tour (found through Yelp), not knowing what to expect, and we were blown away but how fun this activity was. We had never been mountain biking before, and are of medium fitness. I had never heard of an e-bike before, let alone ride one. E-bikes make it much easier to propel you uphill and steep inclines, but you're still pedaling and burning calories. The mountain trails are ~5 min bike ride from the shop. David, our tour guide, took us on this gorgeous and jaw-dropping mountain ride at sunset, which took around 2 hours. We passed many hikers, but the trail never felt crowded. The views of Los Angeles were the best I had ever seen. You can see as far as the ocean. David was incredibly patient and motivating the entire time, as I was nervous at the beginning. By the end, I felt really confident and am eager to do it again! Great value for a private tour, and we highly recommend this activity for adrenaline-junkies and nature-lovers. read more

We still come back to help for all maintenance and he really takes care of his customers. I stopped by a few stores in Pasadena today looking for my first e-bike - I sold my car last year and really need a way to run errands and get around the area. This shop felt much friendlier than others I went to and I was matched to the perfect bike for me. I was able to test ride the bike around the block and it was very fun and easy to figure out with help from the wonderful staff. They are an honest company that price matches without needing to ask which I found really admirable and put the bike in my price range! Since this is my first e-bike, I also was comforted by the one year maintenance warranty and the reassurance they would be there to help with anything I needed in the future. I was very impressed with the price of the bike compared to what I had seen at other shops, especially because the bike came with a wired headlight and rear brake lights, a bell, LCD screen display, a rear rack for cargo, built in "find my iPhone" app, fenders, and both pedal assist and throttle. With one of these e-mtn-bikes anyone can get up the mountains! A 90 minute weekday evening ride up to Henninger Flats or on the Cheney Trail is a great workout, scenic, and fun! The bike's full suspension makes the ride very comfortable both going up and down. The strong and precise brakes and huge tires give you riding confidence going downhill, and yet the bike is very nimble, and makes turns easily. The Haibike designs are great, and the tires and parts are of high quality. The Open Trails EMTB shop has a good selection of these machines and good prices. On the recommendation of a friend, I went to Open Trails EMTB to shop for my first E-mountain bike. This was after I had visited four other bicycle shops where I found a very reasonablly priced, $12,000 e-bike and a lot of, "it's back ordered" or "we don't have the size you're looking for" and even some, "we only have one e-bike in the store." After talking on the phone to David at Open Trails, I had high hopes of actually getting an e-bike today. Well, let me say, Open Trails didn't disappoint! First, I was having some trouble finding the address, so when I got there, David was waiting on the front sidewalk for me. David made several recommendations for different bikes in their inventory (that's right, they had a VARIETY of e-bikes in their inventory) and in the end I decided to get the Haibike 7.0 Nduro. This was after David gave me a demo 7.0 Nduro to test ride. I think David said something like this, "Hey man, take the bike and ride it around. Heck, ride it up to Mt. Wilson. Grab some trails. Just have fun and ride it, man." This dude abides. Open Trails had the size and type of e-bike I was looking for, with the options I wanted, a reasonable price and it was ready to go. I've been thinking about getting an mountain ebike for some time, so I stopped by the shop near my house and checked out the bikes they had. Ben worked with me, and I talked to some people who were picking up their bike from the shop for repairs. I appreciate the first hand knowledge and pulled the trigger on purchasing a bike real fast. They didn't have the bike I wanted in stock in Pasadena but they had it in the Santa Clarita shop. The bike is a little heavy but having the electronic assist motor is a game changer. Before I would hem and haw about riding my mountain bike on the trails even though I live right on the mountain bike trail. Now with the ebike, there is no hesitation on riding. Great experience. The bikes we rented were in excellent condition. We road for about 3 hours. Getting to a trailhead from the Altadena location is really easy. This was our first time on an e-bike, and its' a trip! It's as if the bike partially cancels gravity. You still have to pedal, but, when you need a boost, it's there. The owner is very knowledgeable. This was our very first time riding the electric assist bicycles and to say we were impressed would be an understatement. I like to do my due diligence when making a big purchase. I visited this shop at least 4 times since October and even called a couple of times with questions. Mike and Mike were always patient, good-humored and very helpful, even though I didn't buy a bike on my first 3 visits. I finally ordered my bike and it arrived in 2 days.
