It was one of my most cherished possessions. Until it burned along with my house in the Altadena fire. Devastated, I was lucky to find one just like it on eBay along with another vintage Stingray. They arrived in pieces, in huge shipping boxes. Now it was just a matter of finding someone who could assemble them. I found Eli who arrived and in my driveway with his mobile set-up, accomplished the mission! I plan to put the burned out skeleton of my original Stingray (salvaged from the ashes) on the wall with the two that Eli assembled as art in my rebuilt home. I can highly recommend Eli. I had just purchased new tires because I wanted a different tread, not because anything was wrong. After picking up my bike, my rear tire was flat. I pumped it up and continued my ride, but it went flat again shortly after. I returned to the shop to ask if something may have gone wrong during installation. Instead of taking a look or acknowledging the possibility of an installation issue, they told me my tube was the problem and tried to sell me a replacement. This was frustrating, especially since I had no issues before bringing my bike in. I usually go to REI for service but wanted to support a local bike shop. Unfortunately, this experience did the opposite. The lack of accountability is the main reason I'm writing this review. I ended up going back to REI, where the issue was properly addressed.

The cheapest bike I saw was $900 with the most expensive being $14,000. The people working here are incredibly pretentious and rather underwhelming. I feel as if the driving revenue force behind this store are the deep pockets of Pasadena and the workers don't care or respect anyone else. I went somewhere else that encouraged me to repair my bike, and not buy a new one. I paid $200 for the same repair that Incycle quoted me $500-$600 for. I would sincerely avoid coming here and to look elsewhere for your cycling needs, unless you prefer paying exorbitant prices with a side of bad attitude.

I initially just needed the seat raised and the handlebars adjusted, but it turned out the chain was incredibly loose, the tubes were probably at least 10 years old, and there were a handful of other things that needed attention. I worked with Joe, who was absolutely fantastic. He was genuinely excited about the bike and eager to help. He even brought me outside, watched how I was riding, and made adjustments on the spot. After that, we brought the bike inside so they could take a closer look and handle the bigger fixes. They really took their time to make sure everything was dialed in perfectly. Joe also noticed I had a women's seat on the bike, which is fine, but as a man it wasn't the best fit. I appreciated that they paid attention to details like that. They were also very mindful of my budget and made sure we didn't overspend while still getting everything safe and road ready. Ben handled the tube replacement and did a great job. It truly felt like a team effort to make sure my bike was not only running well but completely safe. They even threw in a free water bottle holder and installed it because it was hot out! I ended up grabbing the sickest Grateful Dead inspired water bottle and filled up while I was there, the ride home was so much less intense because of that. My family and I have been going to Around the Cycle for years and have bought multiple bikes from them. Every experience has been excellent. It's clear this is a tight knit group that genuinely cares about their customers. This isn't some corporate chain. It's exactly what you'd hope every neighborhood shop would be like. Anytime anyone I know needs anything bike related, I send them to Around the Cycle without hesitation. They're simply the best. I was fine with it and then had the service done. I paid and left. When I got home, I looked over the bill and saw that it was higher than what was quoted through Yelp for the pads. I contacted the owner and he said that he gave me a verbal quote and then said he gave me better pads( which is not reflected on the invoice or told to me prior to the work was done) and then went back to he gave me a verbal quote for the difference in price. The verbal quote he told me he gave was not even the price he charged me. Overall the service was good and quick. The quoting and charging was my issue. I will take ownership that I didn't inspect the final invoice before paying but I still think that the business owner should have honored his original quote and if an upgraded part was used and was billed (according to the owner) then should be approved beforehand.

Shant's was excellent. Easy to work with. Knew what was wrong right away (mainspring and needed service) Did the work on the timeline promised (2 weeks; actually got it done early) and for the price quoted. My Rolex is running better than it ever has. Its an early 80s Sub and i've sent it to Rolex twice since its been in my possession for the last 12 years or so for a service/repair and it's never kept time as well as it has these past two weeks since I got it back from Shant's. I will be back and can't recommend this place enough. Thank you, Shant!

There is always a first for everyone and this is the first for me…read more I have a question for Mike. Did I say something to upset or offend you the last time I took my bikes to you for service? Why do I ask? I ask because I the last time I took my bikes to you for service, one of service requests I made was to replace the rim tape on both wheels on the Pivot bike. I just went to replace the tires and to my surprise, the same damaged tape is on both wheels. Not only were you not able to diagnosis the front brake problem (which ended up being a bad rotor), you never replaced the tape which begs the question, what exactly did you do and what did I pay for? A simple clean and shine? I'm very disappointed. Needless to say, we have no plans of taking our bikes to you for service in the future.

So, when I arrived at Open Trails, and Dave said he used to sell Aventons, but they are really "crappy" (Dave might've used a stronger word ) I knew immediately that we were on the same page about quality. He encouraged me to consider the MokWheel Tarmac, which just came out. After a brief test ride, I knew that this thing was quality. Even more, Dave hooked me up with some accessories and helped me install some of them. Extremely happy with my purchase, and glad I took the time to test ride several bikes.
