I am compelled to share my experience with Montebello Bicycles and hope that this review might guide someone to make the best decision for themselves. I have an "A-race" coming up and needed my bike to have a basic general tune-up. I brought the bike to "BIKE SHOP XYZ" with significantly high Yelp reviews in terms of quality and quantity. After reading the reviews very carefully, I felt comfortable bringing my bike there. Long story-short, 2 weeks later my bike was not at all repaired, mechanic could not complete the wiring/cabling, gave up, & contacted me to discuss picking up the bike. In fact, the bike was in worse condition than when I dropped it off. ~~~~~~IN COMES MONTEBELLO BICYCLES~~~~~~ After picking up my bike, I immediately went to MONTEBELLO BICYCLES due to my previous mechanic's recommendation (he moved away). Upon entering the store, I was politely greeted by Bea. Shortly after, I was introduced to Aldo (Bea informed me that he would be the main mechanic working on my bike). With much worry and some anxiety, I explained my situation that I needed the bike in short order, my bike was dysfunctional, and needed significant repair. They did not interrupt me at all because they were actively & PATIENTLY LISTENING to my entire situation (& it was a lengthy story). The largest issue with my bike was the challenging cabling/wiring that my bike required. They were very careful not to make any promises. However, Aldo explained how he would approach repairing my bike by giving me about 4-5 technical scenarios. Aldo advised me that I could leave the bike and it might take ONE WEEK or more to complete. As mentioned earlier, he did not make me any promises, but based on our conversation, I felt comfortable leaving the bike with them. Less than 12 hours later, I received a voicemail from MONTEBELLO BICYCLES that my bike is completed and ready for pickup!!!! The cabling/wiring was done PERFECTLY. It was re-wired to the same specifications as my previous mechanic's design (who has now moved, hence, my need for a new mechanic), but now with new cables/wires, parts, etc. They let me test ride the bike and afterwards, Aldo even made some very important adjustments (which would have impacts to aerodynamics and speed) which he gladly did both carefully and swiftly. Both Bea and Aldo are very polite, conduct themselves like professionals, communicate well, are active/patient listeners, definitely have solid experience, exceptional/competitive/fair pricing, are HONEST, great character, have highly technical skills, and lastly go above and beyond what many would do for their customers. Trust me, if you are their customer, you are in good hands. I also had an issue with rebuilding my wheel hub. They could have easily performed this service for me, but recommended I go to another local wheel specialist because they would have the parts in stock, hence, could service it faster, and I would have my bike faster than they could do it. I called the local wheel specialist and Bea was gracious enough to answer all the technical questions that the wheel specialist had for me. Bea & Aldo essentially gave away that business (rebuilding wheel hub service) to another company for my personal benefit and NOT theirs. They put me (the customer) above any profit they could have had doing the service themselves. They knew I needed my bike very soon and keeping the bike there would take precious time from ordering parts, etc. This is the HONESTY I mentioned above. Just like when finding the doctor you trust, the reliable plumber, the dentist that you see annually, ALDO & BEA at MONTEBELLO BICYCLES are now my go-to bike mechanics for all my service needs. Thank you so very much Aldo and Bea!!!! I greatly appreciate all you did for me in such short order (especially knowing how important I needed my bike back ASAP, but how very complicated the repair would be). The crew at Montebello Bicycles have it on LOCK! I resurrected a vintage Park Pre from the Bike Oven and took it to Montebello Bicycles for it's first tune up after 450+ miles. Not only was it fairly priced, but their deluxe service gave my bike the TLC and cleaning it deserves. I've been meaning to fix my bike brake for some time now and when I saw that this bike shop was nearby, I felt it was time to fix it. The bike shop has a small parking lot as well as street parking. when I arrive, I was helped right away. I brought my own brake pads and they fix all the brakes as well as a wire that was frayed. The staff is friendly and very helpful. They also sell bike gear, bikes and e-bikes. This is my spot for anything bike related. Montebello Bicycles is such a great asset to the local community. I generally do my own service and often pop in to pick up various parts and small parts, and they always have everything I need to get my small fleet of bikes back up and running. On the one occasion I brought my bike in for service (for hydraulic disc brakes, one of the bicycle maintenance tasks I don't have the patience for), not only did they turn around the service extremely quickly, my entire bike came back cleaner than it was when I dropped it off, and my brakes worked better than they would have had I done them myself. Additionally, they host a few group rides weekly and biweekly that attract a fun and friendly group--from fixie riders to people riding fancy italian superbikes, everybody is super friendly, helpful, and there to have a good time. read more

Great service and selection of bicycle items and new bikes. They carry regular and e-bikes so can sell and work on anything. Aldo is a very knowledgeable and skilled mechanic. Montebello Bicycles is the best little-known gem in the Los Angeles area. They have only been open for about a year, but they are really the best kept secret in the biking community. The shop is run by Aldo and Beatriz. Both are very knowledgeable about bike repair. Unfortunately, I waited way too long to replace my chain and when I did replace it, I found that it was having difficulty meshing with my gears, so I looked online to see if there were any bicycle stores closer to me than those I had previously used, and to my surprise I found Montebello Bicycles. I took my bicycle to their shop and Beatriz helped me upon my arrival. She put my bike in a bike stand including a rag into the clamp to provide extra protection from damage. She quickly looked at my cassette and my derailer and noted that both were badly worn and needed to be replaced, which I suspected before my arrival as I had gone way too long without replacing my chain. Beatriz was very patient with me and was able to answer all my questions, and there were many. She provided me with a very reasonable estimate and promised my bike would be repaired within 24 hours. Sure enough, the next day I received both a call and a text message that my bike was ready for pick-up. I quickly went to the bike shop and Beatriz showed me my bike and explained how the repairs were made. After leaving Montebello Bicycles and not being able to ride while my bike was in the shop, I immediately took my bike to the Rio Hondo Bike Trail to give it a try. I was impressed by how smooth the gear shifting was. I was clear the repairs were made with great care and accuracy. My bike has several thousand miles on it as I ride about 20 miles a day, and now it's like a new bike, in fact, I think that it preforms better than when I purchased the bike as I am not an expert on adjust the derailer, so it was probably not correctly adjusted in the first place. Montebello Bicycles is a real gem. Their workshop is very clean and well organized. Both Aldo and Beatriz are extremely knowledgeable about bikes and bike repair, and their shop has a fair assortment of biking accessories, including helmets. all-purpose tools, water bottles and other accessories and they have several bikes for sell too. If you are having any trouble with your bike, I would strongly suggest that you visit Montebello Bicycles. They are the best bicycle shop around and worth the drive from surrounding cities. I have been to other bicycle shops and have never found one that was as knowledgeable as Aldo and Beatriz. Do yourself a favor next time your bike needs repair, and at least give Montebello Bicycles a try, I'm sure you will not be sorry. She answered all my questions that I had about the Aventon Pace e-bike we bought. We were able to test ride the bike before actually purchasing it from them.
