Apparently they can't fix a bent rotor on a e bike but will fix " brakes , tires and inner tubes " . Like do you know the rotor is apart of the braking system ? Also she made it seem like it was an electrical problem saying " we don't work on the system of ebikes " Like what do you mean ? You just have to bend the rotor ( true it ) you don't have to touch anything else . That's crazy and just dumbfounding. Edit : then proceeds to say they don't specialize in e bikes when it has nothing to do with the electric side of it . It's a mechanical problem . Same tools and method used for a regular bike . I love supporting small businesses especially in difficult times like this pandemic. One Stop Cycles is a small mom and pop shop tucked in the busy streets of Hawthorne. I parked in the nearby lot of Weinerschnitzel because spaces were limited. Majority of their bikes were beach cruisers. I came to buy a fixie as a gift and luckily they had two left in stock! I chose a beautiful white Micargi bike for a decent price. This store doesn't take advantage of the COVID situation and doesn't over charge their products. I also got really nice quality front and back lights that flashes in three different settings. Their bikes also comes with a 2 month warranty for minor fixes. Even though there was a language barrier, they were awesome communicating with me and making sure all my needs were met. The owner of the shop was so kind to pump the tires and wipe down the bike before handing it to me. He also disassembled one wheel because I was worried it wouldn't fit in my car. The icing on the cake was when he walked down the sidewalks with me to carry the bike in my car. The nicest people ever!! Please support your small local businesses! I'm not an expert on bikes, but I always leave the shop a little more educated and confident. The owners are kind. patient and truly care about your needs. It's a small shop so expect to be a little tight in there. Also, there can be a little communication barriers at time (Spanish speaking) but the mechanics wife will often step in to help translate and I'm pretty okay with that :) I've had my bike tuned up and serviced there a few times now (by Victor) and I have not had any complaints. Prices are fair and their product selection is average but you'll most likely find what you need. As for "bike" selection, it's limited but you'll have a few options (mainly due to the limited space they have) Overall, this place takes care of their customers. My rating would have been higher until I noticed I was overcharged. I initially went in and tried explaining to what appeared to be the owner who by the way doesn't speak very good English that I Needed a larger rear break clamp for my handlebars. He shook his head and sold me a used one for $10. I get all the way home to find out he gave me the wrong size. So I drive back up there and explain that I was sold the wrong item. He then pulls out a new one and says it's $20. I said I should only have to pay half because you gave me the wrong one initially. They said ok no problem. I check my bank account and they charged me the full price and kept the original used clamp he sold me. Dishonest business. Poor communication. read more

I knew my rear bike wheel was out of true, so during my last maintenance session I took if off to take to a bike shop to have it done right. I am also concerned that sand might have gotten into my gear bearings because I can hear the slightest grinding sound when I turned the casset while I was cleaning it. I ended up bringing both wheels to One Stop since I thought they might as well double check the front wheel also. So I went to One Stop because I want to be a nice person and support my local mom and pops. When I went in I found the store is very disorganized. There are many used bikes for sale but all setup so close together I don't think you could pull one out to test. Also the helmets are all piled up in the front window. There was a display case with bike parts, but all piled together, very disorganized. I explained the man who was running the shop at the time that I wanted my rear wheel trued and the front one checked. Also that I might need my cassette and hub disassembled to clean and re-pack. He seemed very confused about what I wanted him to do. He held up my rear wheel by the axle and spun it and said "it spins fine". Yes, I know it spins fine, I need it trued! After insisting several times that it needed to be checked for trueness, he finally put in on a truing stand, found it to be laterally true and told me the problem must be with my brake and to bring the whole bike to him to ride and test. I asked him to check the radial true and he kept saying the wheel was fine. I tried to get him to check the cassette and hub for sand in the bearings, but he just kept spinning it and saying it turned fine, no problem. So I left, went to another bike repair I like and found *dundundun* that my rear wheel of course is radially out of true like I knew. They also agreed that I may have sand in the gear bearings, but I'm gonna try going to a bike kitchen to learn to do it myself. So in conclusion, I'm not in the least tempted to go back here. I don't have confidence in their repair assessment abilities. read more

I'm a stranger in a strange land in LA. I work at a bike shop in my native Denver, and when I came to town to race and ride track bikes, I found this place was walking distance from my hotel. I popped in with a wheel set that had been packed on an airline and just needed air in the tubes. I was hoping to get some air, talk about the local bike routes, and maybe buy something with a low price and high margin. The shop is small, all the bikes were well used, and the assorted parts in the display cases didn't catch my eye. The friendly old man working there would only speak Spanish. No big deal. "Aire por favor." He looked the wheels over. "Solo aire." He looked visibly upset that I didn't need to buy anything, but after finding an adapter for presta, he topped them up with compressed shop air. Afterwords he asked for a dollar. My shop would never ask for money to fill tires, but I expected to tip the place somehow. Instead of continued business he got a dollar. I expected to make a friendship or a connection, but besides the language barrier, I got the feeling that the portly old man isn't a serious cyclist. All of the bikes in stock were pretty grubby Craigslist specials, and the back shop (from what I could see in the storefront,) didn't inspire confidence. read more

There are No other bicycle repair and sales shops that are not rip offs other than ONE STOP BIKES ON HAWTHORNE BLVD JUST NORTH OF MARINE ST IN LAWNDALE. CARMEN AND VICTOR ARE THE MOST FAIR, REASONABLE WITH PRICES AND AS PEOPLE. JUST GREAT. I took my bike to helens, summit, bikology and all I wanted was new brake and shift lines for my 1970 Schwinn super sport.. Helens et al wanted $160.00 plus tax. I left there having to make an appointment for 30 days away. I was not happy. I, for one can't afford that. You could buy a new bike for that. Then, I checked the internet for another shop praying they would be less money. I got ONE STOP on the phone. Same repairs, $60.00. SIXTY ALL IN. I raced over there and there I found the best bike shop who works with you, does most everything the same day (today, I just waited a bit and talked bikes with everyone like it was the 1960's!!!) If you are within 50 miles, it's worth the drive. Good work. They are the best and know all the nuances of my old bike that are different than today. TRUST ME. CALL THEM!!!!!! read more

UPDATE!!! After writing a great review about this place I now have to write a bad one. My first time coming to this place was very positive. The young manager knew a lot about bikes and was able to answer any questions regarding them. I went back a few day ago and he is not there any more. Instead there's a sweet old man that runs the place now. Sadly his knowledge of bikes is 0, every question that I asked him about my bike he would ask his bike mechanic for an answer. The mechanic seems to have a bad attitude. After he tried to fix the issue on my bike, I noticed that it was not done properly. I brought it to his attention and he seemed annoyed, his answer was I needed a new piece but he still charge me for the labor. Too bad the young manager is not here anymore.... Shit got done when he was there. read more

After having a conversation with one of the guys there I found out there's a new owner, which would explain the change. I actually had my wheels re-trued with no complaints. Quick review: took my mountain bike here for tune up service with focus on gears and detailer. Tried two other places nearby and hey each had a four week appoint window before they could service the bike. One Stop is small and no frills. I was a little concerned at first as I was concerned about them working on my bike (this is probably more about me than them). Got the bike back the next day and it was like a new bike. Gears and detailed were smooth, bike was cleaned in every spot. Surprisingly, they offered to reduce the price by $20 because they didn't have to do any work on brakes and other areas because they didn't need service. This place is absolutely fantastic, the previous review is from 2011, this store is under new management. I walked in and was greeted by Javier, who was very courteous, also this place was very clean for a bike shop. I went in with a crappy bike i picked up at Walmart, and got everything tightened and trued. Javier knows his stuff. He also helped me pick up some affordable lights. I plan on doing a lot of night riding. the whole adjustment plus new brake pads came out to 15 bucks (brake pads where 5)and I feel alot better and safer riding. there is also a small selection of New bikes for sale and he offers a painting service. also i believe there is a sale on bike tires. and the tune ups are cheap too! all in all I had a great experience and wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone.... remember its under NEW management nothing to do with the other reviews read more

I have lived in Lawndale a few years and recently got my 1978 10-speed out of storage and began riding several miles on a daily basis. Of course, the tires and tubes I had replaced 20 some years ago were in bad shape and soon I had failures at both ends and needed to replace my tubes and rear tire. After visiting the nearby REI and Sports Authority stores with the attendant high prices and limited stock on hand for my older bike, I remember having seen this One Stop Cycles shop on Hawthorne Blvd just north of Marine Avenue and decided to check there for the items I was looking for, which is when I met Tania. The shop had available the same make and model replacement tires I had used before and the right size tubes (27 inch) at very reasonable prices. I bought and replaced them myself, and then had my 80 pound tires back. A couple weeks later three of my original rear wheel spokes broke (due to my harder tires?) and I went back to see Tania for replacements, which she had on hand. She also assisted me by getting my freewheeler off the rear hub (almost locked on after 34 years) so I could replace the spokes. Once again I was on the road again in a short time. Then my original pedals finally became unusable and Tania came to my rescue again with a decent used pair to get me back on my bike. I would highly recommend the One Stop Cycles shop as a place to go for reasonable prices and friendly service. Tania appeared to be the one in charge, plus the one doing most of the sales and repair work whenever I stopped in, so I would ask for her. Just have some patience if she has several jobs going on at the same time and seems a little busy in her small but efficient store. Lawndale is at least 60% Hispanic these days so just understand that some of the help may have a difficult time communicating with some of us, however Tania is very helpful and conversant in both English and Spanish. Her shop is a great example of a locally owned business which is much nicer to deal with for many replacement items and repairs on both used and new bikes. read more

I went in for a tube change and also needed a brake adjustment. They were extremely helpful and friendly and were able to fix/tune everything that I brought up. After the first test ride, I told them of some new issues with the brakes which they were able to fix. The entire visit cost only fourteen dollars, which included the price of the tube! read more
