I understand you get paid minimum wage and thats fine but DO YOUR EFFING JOB! standing 10 feet from the cashier in front of the sunglasses case waiting to be helped for 10 minutes. THEN I notice this little machine asking me to push a button if i need help. I push it and it makes a beep sound. This button apparently doesnt page anyone to come help you, it just makes a sound so if anyone around you feels like coming to help, they might hear the sound and walk your way. On the day I was there, I hit the button, waited a few minutes, hit it again and no one ever came. Go somewhere else. Even if you have to spend more money cause DICKS is not worth it. I walked in the door and one of the associates said to us, "high guys". I do not need anything over the top, but that annoys me. The entire store was clean. There was nothing on the floor, nor was the restroom messy. I went inside to purchase two t-shirts. The first shirt I purchased fit on my family member perfectly, but although mine said it was a large, it was not. Maybe an infant large. I had to drive back, I purchased another shirt of my choice, which fit. The person at the register was quite polite. I also wanted to buy a regulation MLB baseball, but they did not have any. read more

My Daughter had softball try-outs this past Saturday morning at 10:00 am in Culver City. Luckily, Dicks opens up at 9:00 am. I went in and purchased cleats and had them break in my Daughters glove using their steaming service. Steaming only takes about 5-10 minutes so while waiting, I headed over to get cleats and found exactly what I needed. I went to pick up the glove and I checked out. Everyone there is super friendly and helpful. They have several Staff on the floor to assist if you need help. I saw 5 cashiers, and 3 or 4 guys in the footwear Dept. This store is fully staffed which is awesome! Mike was the cashier that helped me out and he is so bubbly. His personality made my morning. He is all smiles and I enjoyed chatting with him while checking out my items. So I took my Daughter to try-outs right after and unfortunately my Daughter got a softball to her forehead that left a dark bruise and a big bump. Instead of heading to the Dicks near my home in Pasadena after try-outs, I drove all the way back to El Segundo (this location), to purchase a new glove, got the steaming service to break it in, and I purchased a face guard. Great customer service will have me going out of my way to visit that location again. I'm so glad I went back there because I received the same friendly service there from other Staff and I saw Mike again. He was so sympathetic to my Daughter's injury. Went it to buy a baseball helmet yesterday and found one in my size but it had the chin guard on the left side when i needed it on the right side. I found another helmet the same color but bigger size with a right chin guard and went around asking employees if it was possible to switch the chin guards around and they told me no, 1 star review to those employees. Went back to look for another helmet and there i asked another employee working in that department and he said if you have a screw driver on you yea. I asked if i could borrow a screwdriver and he brought me one but it didn't work. He gave me the idea to go buy a swiss army multi tool and use the screwdriver on that. I went to go buy it and it worked! Joel was the worker, very nice and helped through the whole situation. Amazing worker dealing with multiple people being the only one there in that section and with me dealing with the helmet. read more

My boyfriend and I came here because we were on the hunt for some LA Kings gear and this was one of the places on the top of our list to look. Their sports teams fan section was pretty big - there was an immense amount of Lakers and Dodgers stuff, but that obviously wasn't what we were looking to buy. The Kings stuff was okay. While they had more options than we expected, the designs on the t-shirts and hoodies were weird. The logos were a little too flashy and not really true to the Kings as a team. Glitter on a Kings shirt? No thanks. Luckily, I found a simple grey hoodie with the LA Kings logo on the front - just what I wanted. I normally wear a large because I like my hoodies a little loose fitting, but the sizing on these hoodies are WAY off. The "extra large" fit like a large... so be sure to try yours on before you buy, just in case. I probably would have given this place a better rating because the store itself is nice and has a lot of stuff to see, but the service was really lacking. We weren't talked to by any employee until we went up to pay for my hoodie (which, by the way was $44, I thought that was a decent price). I just think at least ONE employee could offer to help or see how we were doing. But I guess not. read more

My trip to Dicks was a complete waste of time. I wanted to get some cleats for my son, little did I know how difficult that would be. At first I thought I was invisible, but from observation and seeing 4 people get help while I was waiting, you need to stand where you actually block the access to the back where they have the shoes. They ended up not having what we needed but it was very very difficult to find that out. I know everywhere is slow because of covid but really. If I need workout clothes, I can order them from Amazon or even go to Nordstrom. If I need equipment for hunting or fishing or camping, I can go to a specialty store and find pro quality gear. 3.75 Stars I am a bit surprised that these huge sporting goods stores can afford to stay in business. They must need to sell a lot of items to afford the overhead. This is your classic, large sporting goods store. 2 of the employees in the store were very warm and helpful. 1 seemed less than enthused to be there. There was a good selection of pretty much every typical sport you could think of. They have a nice putting green to try out putters. They allowed my 2.5 year old to have fun trying the different "toys" in the store. The yoga mat selection included Manduka, which is the only mat I recommend every purchasing. BOTTOM LINE: A good store to get your sporting needs when you want it NOW and don't care about price. read more

I would have to agree with Laura L. here...they have 20 pairs of S and M shirts but maybe 1 L and if I'm lucky an XL. Depending on the brand (since no one pre-shrinks their stuff anymore) I might need a XXL. I really like this place even when it was called Chicks. It's a lot cleaner than Sports chalet and Sports Authority. They seem to focus here more on workout clothes though. But, depending on the season, they do cater the sport that's out. If it's football season, they have tons of gear. Same goes for baseball, basketball, softball and lacrosse. I come here to look at golf stuff. This place does seem a little pricey and wish they had more sales and bargains. But the staff knows what they are talking about. The final associate was a dumbass who thought it was funny to answer the phone stating "Carl's Jr. can I take your order please?" before he hung up on me. Huh?! Very little selection and poor customer service. Although this location is closest to me, I would rather drive out of my way to go to the store in Cerritos. I had a couple questions but no employee could be found to answer them. No biggie finding things shouldn't be rocket science right? Wrong, this store is all over the place. Their knife "selection" was very limited as well. Hubby was looking to purchase a new Smith and Wesson knife but we couldn't find any after lapping the store twice. When we finally found an employee to help, he said "whatever we have in the front, is all we got", he didn't even offer to show us where in the front he was talking about. We only stumbled upon the pity of a knife section they had on a rack by the snacks at the check out line. The tall chunti cashier was so petty it wasn't even funny. My husband said that the way she stared at him at line made him very uncomfortable. We had 1 item to return and had some Dodger gear we wanted to purchase. I didn't mind that she was totally flirting it up with hubby but what did annoy the crap out of me was how she started acting when he proceeded to pay. She first only rang up his shirts and gave a total, which didn't make sense because we put all of our items together. Then she caught an attitude when hubby politely told her that he was going to pay for my shirts as well. She responded "Oh I didn't think you two were together" LMAO are you serious? whatever. What was worse was that she turned into an fbi agent when checking the bills hubby gave her, the $100 I understand, but the little bills too? come on. Had to return an item today. Because I had the receipt, and it was obvious that the item was still new and in original packaging - the transaction went really smooth and quick. Honestly though given the alternatives in the south bay and their locations I will come back here for convenience and location. They aren't crowded, and they carry a range of items from camping to baseball, soccer, basketball, and even kids beach toys and floats! I got a really comfy retro Lakers tee that I practically live in here. They have a ton of shoes and their clothing selection is great! Roxy/quicksilver and other surf brands. Havianas. Called in to see if they had the majestic we came to reign sweaters for the dodgers. Spoke with a lady on the phone. I asked specifically for M xl and xxl. She repeated it back to me twice with a stutter as if she didn't know what she was talking about. So I have her place them on hold cause they closed in 5 mins. She then repeated the correct size. I have my buddy go pick them up. He pays for them and when he gets home notices there was no xxl but only med and xl xl. Shame on him for not checking Before he left but shame on the employee for not doing their job correctly but acting like they did. So now we have to go and drive 6 miles back there and 6 home and to now look online and they no longer have any xxl. read more

Second (and last) time I called, sales rep tells me they "don't even really sell the cabinets." Today for example, I went in looking for some help buying rollerblade wheels, the kid at the front who told me where to go, also said that he was the one that would be helping me and that he would be right back. So, I walked back and waited back there for about 10 minutes... he didn't show. So I decided to just go somewhere else, and as I was walking back to the front to exit the store, he was just walking and chatting with another co-worker. It was so rude. I've had a ridiculously hard time finding running shorts that I like. Women's shorts are usually to short, and men's too long. I can't find the middle ground! Stopped by Dick's over the weekend, before running into Whole Foods next store, and lo and behold! I walked out with three pairs of women's athletic shorts that were neither too short nor too tight! No kidding, I've been looking for the perfect gym short for months! As for the rest of the store, it's a huge warehouse space with a lot of sports stuff.
