Adidodas, Un Balanced, UnderArms, and KaperNike are all sold here. And you will get 1st quality and know they are not fakes like the stuff on Amazon. Prices are reasonable and in the athletic shoe department I saw some sales that are better than what you would find on the internet. These stores cannot advertise certain name brand sale prices but can offer them on the floor only. Recently I ordered items online for same day pickup and that went very smooth. Fast pickup service. Employees here are like employees anywhere earning min wage or close to min. Gone are the days of the full time career retail sales professional with a benefit package and retirement. This Dick's location seems to be the premiere store, as it has everything you would want for sports, and is often the only location for pick-up of items ordered online. The have all the Laker Championship clothing and actually are down the street from the Laker's training facility. I would have liked to have shopped more, but with COVID-19, had to just go in and out for what I needed. After the pandemic is over, I'm going to come back and do some real shopping! read more

I've been looking for dumbbells since gyms are closed due to the pandemic. I called Dick's to make sure they had 25 lb dumbbells in stock. The guy who took my call said yes they just got a stock in. I was there at the store in less than 30 minutes. Ask the sales guy where the dumbbells were, he tells me that they're sold out. WTF! I told him I just called like 20 minutes ago and I was told that you just got an inventory of dumbbells In and you're sold out?! WTF! Terrible customer service! read more

I like that it's never too busy, always clean, and everything is where it's supposed to be; on the racks or shelves. Came here to try on some Nike sweatshirts. I didn't end up finding the one I wanted, but they had a pretty good selection. I was bummed because multiple workers walked past me and never asked if I need help or assistance. The customer service was so poor. I was invisible in that store. They didn't greet me when I walked in, didn't offer to help while in the store and didn't say goodbye when I left. For the most part, the store was pretty clean. The sweatshirts I tried on had never been opened up. So as I was trying them on, the paper inside would come out and I had nowhere to put the piece of paper, so I just left it on the sweatshirts. Now when I went to the restroom, that's a whole different story! The bathroom was extremely dirty. It looked like there was poop splattered on the wall behind the toilet. There were pieces of toilet paper on the ground. The bathroom looked like a gas station bathroom in the middle of no where. Wow with a pretty empty store it was impossible to buy or gain any I information from staff. I mean this is why amazon is killing it!!!! I'm so frustrated. Sadly this place looks like it is on the verge of closing. I have been a customer going back when it was Chick's Sports and spent more money here than I wish to add up but it has steadily gotten worse. Dirty carpets, broken changing rooms (who doesn't like a random person walking in while they are trying on clothes), non existent help in all areas (I guess this was better that the golf department had no one working, a few putters on shelf, a crazy disheveled look to the clubs, and the last time I was in I was spoken to by an older guy (and I am 49 :) who warned me not to ground an iron I was checking out and he walked away without ever asking if I needed help. I ended up going to Roger Dunn on Bundy and spent $1,000 on the same clubs I was holding here. Oddly, I was never yelled at Roger Dunn :). Dick's used to be an amazing place to go but can't say I will be back. Online shopping and quality stores like Roger Dunn for me from now on. read more

This company is the worst! I ordered a pair of running shoes around 11p, and shortly after I placed the order, I realized that I should've ordered a larger size and tried to cancel the order. But customer service was closed at that time. The following morning, early, I got a hold of customer service, and was told it was too late to cancel, even though it was less than 12 hours after ordering.....She would attempt to send a message but doubted the order could be cancelled. The policy was you have to cancel no later than 30 minutes after ordering. 30 minutes???!!!!! Mind you, the shoes didn't even show up until almost 10 days later. Not like Amazon, when I can get them in a few days. But sure enough, when the shoes finally arrived, they were too small, and had to go through the returning and refund process, which was another nightmare. Had to schlep to Fed Ex to return, and the refund wasn't issued until a month later! I had to call twice to see when the refund was coming. After the refund was finally issued, I got an email from a Caleb C, Experience Ambassador, inquiring about the bad experience. I wrote to him with my story, and mentioned that it might be nice to receive some sort of compensation for their terrible cancellation policy and how it inconvenienced me....a small token, like a tee shirt, but I never heard back from him! How's that for customer service??? He emailed me June 4, and I wrote him back on June 8 and finally July 5. If he's the experience ambassador, then he should be referred to as the BAD experience ambassador....cause the experience was extremely BAD. Avoid ordering online from Dicks......They should have at least a 24 hour cancellation policy.....They could've made an exception for someone cancelling within 12 hours. I visited the El Segundo Dick's over the weekend and tried on some women's fitness shoes. The guy who helped me was super accommodating, bringing me several brands/sizes of shoes to try. I settled on a pair of women's Brooks Ghost 16 shoes in size 6.5. As I was putting the shoes I had planned to purchase back in the box, I noticed the bottoms of the shoes were dirty. I made a comment to the guy helping me saying "is your floor really that dirty," as I pointed to the bottom of the shoes. Initially he told me how they don't clean the floor very frequently and how the style of shoe I was trying on just came in yesterday. He then admitted that the shoes were used and said he could ask his Manager to offer me a discount. He also said he would check the back for another pair and I said, please see if you have another pair. He returned offering me a 15% discount and I again asked if he could see if they have another pair in back. He was helping multiple people, but when he returned with shoes for somebody else, I asked if he was able to find another pair which he replied no. I did not purchase the used shoes and instead decided to order the shoes online (interestingly, it showed Dicks Sporting Goods in El Segundo didn't even have the shoes in the size I needed available). I should also mention that the top of the box had a "small hole" in it - wondering if this is a practice DSG does when they have used returns. In any case, today I received my order and I kid you not, I got the same used shoes from El Segundo l, same hole in the top of the box (that I I paid FULL PRICE for). SHAME ON YOU Dick's - this is unethical business practices!!!! How do you ship a used product to a customer that they didn't agree to take and they paid full price for?!? I understand mistakes happen, but based on the order of events, I don't believe for a second that this was a "mistake." In any case, I've reordered my shoes and once I receive a new unused pair, I will be returning the used pair to the El Segundo store and speaking to a Manager. read more

Really amazing selection but poorly managed. During my most recent visit I advised the cashier call more employees to the front to help with the growing line, and she didn't even acknowledge my suggestion. Then I had to go grab another pair of shorts because the tag was missing, and on the way I made the same suggestion to a group of employees standing by a display table chatting. Customers in line were becoming more and more stressed as they saw at least 6 employees aimlessly walking around with none taking the initiative to come to the front and help check out customers. One of the employees did come to the checkout stand, and we all held our breath, but then they decided to go drag carts inside and handle drive-up deliveries, then right back to chatting with coworkers. Good managers would hire and train good employees to notice and manage customer issues in real time, and this is why I'll likely be using Amazon and other online services to do clothes shopping, since it's better than feeling as though half-an-hour was wasted unnecessarily. read more

EPIC FAILURE!!! Friends I do not enjoy writing bad reviews. It takes a lot in my book to achieve this distinction. Dicks Sporting Goods has earned this not so coveted merit... We waited and waited AND waited for someone to at least make eye contact so we could get the ball rolling on buying some hiking shoes. When someone did come out, he bee lined towards other people across the show section that were closer to his homie who was chatting it up with some customers that he was familiar with. The team working the shoe department is useless. I can't believe these guys have jobs! After leaving the shoe dept, I begrudgingly went to look for some oars for our raft. I found them (at a decent price too). Got them and took them to the register to pay for them. There I encountered the 2nd failure. A long line of people, six registers and ONE cashier working! The kid looked like he was struggling too. Him I feel sorry for, he could have used the help. OOOH but look... there's a person who looks like a manager standing about 10 feet away...except she looks kinda busy standing there greeting customers. UUUUUgh! We left the oars stepped out of line and left without spending a dime. The Positives: The store is huge and does have a great selection of sporting good items at pretty good prices. My message to the higher ups at DSG is this: The management in this store is weak and incompetent. And no, its not my job to go up and complain to a manager about bad service because a well managed store doesn't offer bad service. Period. Hope you have a better experience. Went it to buy a baseball helmet yesterday and found one in my size but it had the chin guard on the left side when i needed it on the right side. I found another helmet the same color but bigger size with a right chin guard and went around asking employees if it was possible to switch the chin guards around and they told me no, 1 star review to those employees. Went back to look for another helmet and there i asked another employee working in that department and he said if you have a screw driver on you yea. I asked if i could borrow a screwdriver and he brought me one but it didn't work. He gave me the idea to go buy a swiss army multi tool and use the screwdriver on that. I went to go buy it and it worked! Joel was the worker, very nice and helped through the whole situation. We came in last night to look for some soccer gear. The store is really clean and has a great presentation. The worker's were really nice upon entering but then we never got any help after that. We were in the shoe department and there were TWO guys in the shoe department watching a basketball game. They did not ask me if I wanted help at all! Sorry, when you are working you should be taking of customers FIRST and watching TV last or not at all. We found some good deals and ended up getting two pair of soccer shorts, two shirts, two socks, shin guards and a ball for around $88.00. The cashier was really friendly and signed me up for their coupon promotions. I do shop here once in while when i get discount coupons i do prefer Sports Authority when it comes to sales. I usually shop for Pro Sports stuff which they don't have much a selection they actually have more on-line. What I really hate is most coupons i get i could never find anything because the stuff i want are on sale already or don't qualify. It's a tough call between 2 and 3 stars for this place. Overall, the customer service is a ONE star. It's always been terrible. I've even gotten bad attitude from the management there. An example of terrible customer service today is when we had to spell our last name OVER SEVEN TIMES to the cashier so she could lookup our Dick's card. Wow. Idiots. He was working his ass off helping 3-4 people at the same time. All that time he was friendly and productive with his hands full of boxes trying to please all of his customers. Customer service needed. This place is definitely huge and has a lot of stuff. Variety is not the problem here. When I entered, I was greeted by someone at the door. Pretty good right? I headed toward the outdoors section, as I knew what I needed. However, the brand of sleeping bag that I wanted was not on the shelf...only it's empty box. I looked around to see if I could find help, but no one was around. I headed toward the front at the checkout line to ask for help. There, I was told there was not anymore available sleeping bags of that brand available. The person didn't even go in the back to check! He offered me the floor model, which was cool. I then asked if I could receive a percentage off, since it was an open box item. He shook his head no, along with another young lady behind the counter. Luckily for me, another cashier heard our conversation and offered me 10% off. I mean sheesh, can we get on one accord here? Meanwhile, after making my purchase, the male associate rolled up the sleeping bag for me. I thanked him for his service. He did not reply whatsoever. He pretty much ignored me. My Daughter had softball try-outs this past Saturday morning at 10:00 am in Culver City. Luckily, Dicks opens up at 9:00 am. I went in and purchased cleats and had them break in my Daughters glove using their steaming service. Steaming only takes about 5-10 minutes so while waiting, I headed over to get cleats and found exactly what I needed. I went to pick up the glove and I checked out. Everyone there is super friendly and helpful. They have several Staff on the floor to assist if you need help. I saw 5 cashiers, and 3 or 4 guys in the footwear Dept. This store is fully staffed which is awesome! Mike was the cashier that helped me out and he is so bubbly. His personality made my morning. He is all smiles and I enjoyed chatting with him while checking out my items. So I took my Daughter to try-outs right after and unfortunately my Daughter got a softball to her forehead that left a dark bruise and a big bump. Instead of heading to the Dicks near my home in Pasadena after try-outs, I drove all the way back to El Segundo (this location), to purchase a new glove, got the steaming service to break it in, and I purchased a face guard. Great customer service will have me going out of my way to visit that location again. I'm so glad I went back there because I received the same friendly service there from other Staff and I saw Mike again. He was so sympathetic to my Daughter's injury. Gift cards are not reimbursable! What a way to rip consumers. Went in good faith to buy a gift card for Christmas. Paid half card, half cash. Unfortunately, my son did not find what he needed which is volleyball shoes. I go back to try to get my money back for the gift card and I'm told no. There are no visible signs to tell you this prior to purchase. Staff is not trained to disclose this while processing gift card. Yeah, I can buy something else with it?
