I had my eye on a pair of shoes and was about to purchase them from a big online retailer when I noticed they were in stock at The Beehive - and I'd be able to pick them up in 24 hours! Since it was my first purchase, I also received a discount. Even better. I purchased the shoes online and they were ready for pickup later that afternoon. It was my first time in this store and it was very cute. The employees were friendly; I was greeted upon entering and someone went to retrieve my order immediately. They included a personal thank you note, which I appreciated and thought was a nice added touch. I want to love this place, but I can't. I just can't. Aesthetics and merchandise assortment, A+... I used to make my living as a buyer and visual merchandiser. They've got that covered. However, for customer service they deserve an F-! I swing by here frequently and never have I ever been greeted upon entering the store. Quite honestly, I've only come back to give them the benefit of the doubt. I just walked in to pick up some gifts to send back home to girl friends of mine in Dallas. I picked up four different items. None of which were priced. All from various locations in the store. Do you think anyone was around to offer assistance? Absolutely not. I'm not sure what the deal is with this store. Customer service goes a long long way! Especially when I see so many small businesses shuttering in Downtown MB lately. I have been a customer of The Beehive since it opened and have to say I am surprised at some of the reviews I have seen recently. The Beehive is one of my favorite stores in Manhattan Beach. I always find something that I love and want to wear right away. I love casual clothes - that at the same time have great style and fit. There is always a t-shirt, pair of jeans, cute cardigan, scarf or accessory. I also love their candy wall - if I need to come in with my son - he can grab some candy while I quickly whip through the store. The clothes are a little more expensive than the cheapie places like F21 - but you will find you keep their items for several seasons. My favorite pieces this year are bright colored v neck t-s, JBrand Star Jeans, key pieces of Brandy Melville (those pieces you won't find in her store) Splendid, Paul & Joe Sister, Mason Scotch, American Colors (great flannels and blouses, again not found anywhere else in LA). The girls that work at The Beehive have always been helpful and not pushy. They go out of their way at times to send me pictures on my phone when I am travelling. They keep Facebook current and just added Instagram - and they are very nice. The energy is great - and I always love walking in the door. Thanks for all that you do for Manhattan Beach! read more

This is the place!! The girls here are SO sweet and helpful. The shopping experience is unlike any other. I am shocked to say I spent almost 3 hrs here (wow) while Barbie and Erica both thoughtfully brought items to my dressing room to try on that suited me so well. I havent felt like myself since having a baby, nothing fit and I couldn't find clothes anywhere. I know this place is pricey but I came knowing I'd find something. Ending up buying a bunch of new pieces that I love. It is so so worth the time saved by finding a bunch of cute pieces under one roof and everything is so chic and quality. I'm in my 30s and they have pieces that fit me and clothes that would have been perfect for me in my early 20s as well. I think some older women shop there too, so maybe it's the perfect shop for all ages :) I credit them for bringing me appropriate pieces for my body/age that I wouldn't have necessarily picked. Can't wait to come back and ask Barbie and Erica to style me again. Genuinely so nice and seem to enjoy what they do, which makes a difference! Love them and love this boutique! read more

The Beehive was better in its old location. Since it moved to the new store, I haven't bought a thing there. It looks like it's desperately trying to be an upscale version of Urban Outfitters. It's too bare to feel adequately stocked and too full (of non-special things) to feel like a real boutique. I don't understand why there's an entire wall of candy. Some of it is twee "vintage" candy but some of it is stuff like Junior Mints. Um, Vons is across the street. read more

Favorite store in Los Angeles. And yes this includes boutiques in Santa Monica, Malibu, and West Hollywood without the hassle of sitting in traffic to get there and being immersed in the cheesy Hollywood types. The girls who work here are all super sweet and helpful, especially Barbie. They have amazing brands from higher end (Elizabeth & James, J.Brand, Paul and Joe Sister, John Eshaya/JET) to less expensive, more casual (Riller and Fount, Seneca Rising, Billabong even..). A very welcome surprise finding this cute boutique. I was looking for Elizabeth and James clothes in the area and went to their website. I clicked on store locator in Manhattan Beach and Beehive was listed. Walking in I wasn't expecting to find much in my style because since moving from London I haven't found anywhere that stocks clothes I like. But this place is a gem! I had the most amazing experience in this store!! I love shop there for jewelry mainly they have beautiful pieces.. I had gotten a ring that was over $300 and weeks after the ring was defected. As I walked in to the store last week not wanting to do anything about the ring , I saw another pair of the same ring, I simply I asked Callais one of the employees if she had gotten a feedback about the ring from other customers experiencing the same thing . She was so sweet and went above and beyond to help figure the situation out along with her manager Sydney , they both teamed up and took care of me . It was so sweet of them, I was so surprised and blown away, because nowadays you can't find such amazing people and a great customer service... I love this store I will forever be thankful how they took care of me. This is the sister store to Wright's. Not as impressed unfortunately. The brands are great... Loveshack Fancy, Spell, Faithful and more but is all jammed together and in an environment that seems really young and junior and not worthy frankly of the price-driven brands. It wasn't inspirational, it didn't make you want pay the price, the brands didn't make you die for them like they would have elsewhere. read more

I think the review written on 5/1/11 is a shill. This place does not have anything less than $100 (unless you count accessories). What is more, the salespeople are SO PUSHY. I came in to check out a pair of jeans, and even after I said I was going to think about it, THEY KEPT PUSHING. As I looked around, the sales girls kept bringing me other pairs of jeans, but in sizes that were 4 sizes smaller than those which I had JUST tried on. When I said, "do you have a size 29," she looked at me completely confused as if I was speaking an unintelligible language. I wanted to say, "no honey, not everyone wears a size 0, and given the fact that I just tried a 29, it seems to reason that a 24 would not fit." She then pushed me to sign up for their updates telling me I could receive a call every time they received new merchandise. Needless to say, the salespeople could use a course in basic listening skills. Save yourself the trouble -- go to Nordstrom or Barney's where the sales people understand the concept of space. read more
