Horrible! No help. Spent 20 minutes in the soccer cleat area for my son. Yeah, that was me that left behind approx. 10 boxes opened and all over the place. Why? Because no one took the time to help me. I had no idea what was what, and everything was mixed up in stock on the wall. One employee actually walked by twice while I was lacing shoes for my son to try on. Left and went to BIG 5 and spend $80. Never again will I go to Dicks! Waste of time and frustrating! The best part is when I checked out there were 4 employees socializing at the front register / front door about their after work plans. Customer service is not their specialty. I like when I can count on a business to honor my return without a reciept. I rarely keep them because I tend to shop at places that take care of their customers. This place does not. They give you the lowest price that they have sold the item for in some time period. We paid $59+ for some shoes that we purchased from them for our kid who was trying out for track; well, consequently, he didn't make the team and the shoes were not needed (never worn). I tried to return them and they gave us ~$47 dollars. The CSR indicated that they "charge a fee." I said, "What kind of fee...how much." She said she didn't know. Great selection & great staff. Everyone was very helpful & friendly. Each department was staffed with people who actually know what they are selling which I Thought was nice. Someone else said it was annoying that a lot of employees asked them for help, I experienced similar but I actually appreciate good customer service & was quite satisfied that I didn't have to search the entire store for someone to help me. Dicks is one of the worst sporting good stores I have been to. The prices are sky high maybe because they are in the shopping mall but that is not an excuse. The customer service is horrible it seems that everytime I go in there its social hour for the workers. The cashier station that is next to the mall entrance is the worst there's no one who is ever there and if there is they are gossiping about what they did the night before. I just received the worst customer from this store. I called in the morning to make sure that there were some Nike Warm-ups in stock that I could size for my team. I spoke with the store manager, Mike who told me to come in because they have various styles in stock. I asked him if he was sure, because I had to drive 30 minutes to get there from the beach. Once I got there, there were no Nike warm-ups AT ALL. I asked a sales rep to speak to the manager whom I talked to earlier. He came over and I asked him where all the warm-ups he spoke of were located. He looked at the sales rep completely confused and then he pointed to some yoga pants that were next to me. In my conversation I specifically asked for matching jackets and pants. I even referenced a model name. The manager told me that Nike only comes in with product numbers so he wouldn't know which model I was referencing. If Dick's is supposed to be such a great sporting goods store, I would think they would hire managers who knew their stock, and who know the difference between warm-ups and yoga pants. So I've seen this place in the mall and thought about checking it out after a date night to check on a Fitbit and little league gear for my kids. I walked in and there might have been a total of 20 people at most shopping and no one was interested in helping. Walked around and could not find the gear for little league. To top it off the prices were nothing to make me want to go back. Let's start off by saying that I was at Parkway Plaza in El Cajon because this is the closest Dick's Sporting Goods Store to where I live. Dick's was having a great online sale on Cyber Monday! I had to purchase a gift for a secret santa that only wanted LA Angels stuff. They had this awesome Dri-Fit shirt that was being sold for $34 and I was able to get it for only $25 w/ free shipping...now that's a steal. Post Christmas, my gift getter said it was a little big...so i checked out the packing slip that came with the order and they said I could go into the store to do an exchange...they'll be able to take the return and then order it online. Initial walk-in, a sale associate named Allison assisted me, she was discussing my return situation with someone named Bruce. I wanted to make the exchange only with the guarantee that i was going to receive the new size for the same price. They said "hmmm...i'm not sure that we can do that?" and then all of a sudden she does the return and puts my money on a gift card? Then she sent me to Team Services where Bruce said he'd assist me in 2 minutes. I walked over there and waited for 15 minutes....Where the hell are you Bruce?!?! I'm happy i got your name. I was worried that if getting the right size forced me to pay more, then i didn't want to do the return, but Allison ALREADY PUT IT ON THE DAMN GIFT CARD...so if I wanted buy back the wrong size, I'd have to pay full price? Uhh no. So Bruce NEVER showed. I went back to the front desk and there was one girl there. She spoke on her headset asking if someone could help. Then she told me someone in Golf could assist. I left my stuff with Chris F. @ Team Services all the way on the other side of the store. I walk there, then all the way back to the other side to the Golf Section. Here is when the associate CHUCK saves the day. He may not be as quick or fast on the computer but at least he was proactive in helping me get my price justice! He said "You should get it for the same price." I gave him my order #, packing slip, gift card and he called the Customer Service line where they provided the code to get the same discount. Chuck is the reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1. He really did help me out, and I appreciate it! I hated the negative comments like "I don't think we can do that?"...you should make sure there is a way to make it happen rather then disappoint a customer first. 0 stars for customer service. read more

I will NEVER shop at Dick's Sporting Goods again! I was so excited when they first opened in El Cajon area because my boyfriend is an outdoor enthusiast. He went in to buy me a bike for Christmas, ready to spend almost $400. The ad (which he got in store at the front) said they were talking $50 off regularly priced bikes 199.99 and up and regularly priced items ended in .99. The bike he wanted to purchase for me was 299.99, the guy told him that that ad was not valid and that it had expired. He said he could give him a $20 off coupon. My boyfriend was not satisfied and asked to speak to a manager. The manager told him the same thing, so basically they were arguing over $30 for an over $300 purchase. 10% of the purchase. Does that make sense? No! Well he walked out, he ended up going back though because he really really wanted a bike under the tree for me, how sweet right? Big mistake, not only were they completely rude, they told him I couldn't ride the bike at all in case he needed to return/exchange. He specifically asked how long he had to return or exchange it for any reason, IE it is too big etc. The sales associate told him 90 days from date of purchase. We just tried return it because I was furious that they treated him so poorly and he still dropped a lot of money at their store. Strike one. Well, Friday we went in. The customer service associate was very uneasy because it was a big purchase being returned in cash. She needed a manager approval for the return because she didn't have enough cash in her register and usually with big purchases managers try and stop you from returning things. I use to work at Circuit City and they have a lot of similarities. Where are they now? Exactly. I know the workings so I was ready. A short shiny haired man came up looking like he had been interrupted with something waaay more important and somewhat frustrated, he asked what the problem was and she said, I need an approval for the return. He said bikes are final sale. My blood literally started to boil, I said since when? No one told us this, in fact your one of your employees told us something completely wrong. I don't like to name drop because it honestly does no good, people just want to point the finger at someone when honestly, many of the associates are probably doing it and it comes from up the ladder with the pressure of numbers and sales etc. He looked at the back of the receipt to try and stick it to me, nothing. Nothing in writing and nothing told to us. Strike two. He went a got the manager of that department cause oh lord, why would he take the flack for something that isn't remotely his problem. This tall hagrid type of man came over telling me how it's a liability and this and that if they accept a returned bike. Mind you we have not ridden it because the associate went through the whole spiel about how we can't ride it in case we wanted to return it. Why would this be told to us if we can't return in anyway? I told him that was not my problem, I wasn't going to be at fault for something that isn't my problem. You guys are at fault, I don't care if you have to eat the cost of 10 bikes, you are wrong and the situation needed to be corrected. He said he had to go up the ladder to get authorization to accept the return. Meanwhile I am doing everything in my power to be heard because they seriously don't know who they pissed off. I know how these businesses run and I know who to contact. I will contact them everyday until they fix the problem. Strike three, they lost my business. I like to give my business to smaller places who treat you more kindly, with more respect and dedication to their customers. read more

The store is brand new and beautiful. My grandson plays baseball and that department has a variety of stuff. The guys helping were great. We've been there many times, new helmets, bats, clothes ,etc. The one thing I have a problem with is the same cashier. Her name is Noura and she just won't smile. Never friendly or helpful. It's weird. The last 2 times I was there she cashiered us and both times she was semi rude. My husband commented on it the last time so I felt I should Yelp It!......ADVICE TO NOURA ..... My daughter is starting softball this year so I went to this store as my first choice to buy her equipment. I asked for help in finding her cleats first and was told to look on the far wall. That was all the help I got. I became frustrated because no one offered to help and when I did seek help all I got was the direction of the wall to look for her shoes myself. I really like this store and location. But like a previous post had stated, you can walk the entire store without a single person asking you if you need any help. Except.... in the golf area. Tom runs that part of the store and is great at his craft. He took his time to help me out, and is extremely knowledgeable at what he does. basically because of his great help and the fact he pretty tailored me to the specific clubs I should use inside the swing area. Purchased a kick ass volcom rashguard from here. The employees are real friendly and welcoming. It sounds like people are playing bowling upstairs haha. But anyway i lost my wallet and i called right away and their employee had it. I returned the next day and everything was there. I purchase quite a bit of "sporting goods" for various activities & have made my way in here twice. Both times being a complete waste of time & feeling insulted, frustrated & angry. The people that work there (in particular the bald manager) are so damn rude! I cannot believe that he is allowed to supervise people let alone be their "leader". It's not worth the time, gas or frustration even stepping foot in there. They are over-priced & have a poor selection. They don't price match their competitors either. And considering everyone else is much lower, I don't know how they manage to stay in business. If you're looking for a good selection with quality custumer service, go to Sports Authority in La Mesa. I have to give this store only one star. I went in not looking for anything in particular when I noticed they had a sale on clearance snowboarding equipment. When I tried to purchase the clearance item (at a very discounted rate) I was given a bogus reason why the item I purchased was not eligible for the discount. Even though the reason was not on the signs and there was no other reason to not honor their signage the manager, Mike, refused to give me the discounted rate because he "just couldn't discount that much off the price" THEN DON'T POST THESE SIGNS AROUND YOUR STORE!! read more

Thank you Chuck (Golf Staff)! I recently had him re-shaft my Taylormade Driver and was very satisfied with the help I received. Then on a later date I decided to purchase an entire new set of clubs and of course I went back to Chuck to help with my decision. He highly recommended getting sized and obtaining data from the launch monitor they have at the El Cajon location. It is at an extra cost but highly recommend taking the time on the machine in order to accurately figure which club best fits your swing. Went to look for some baseball gear. Now with Sport Chalet and Sport Authority gone it's hard to find stores where you can go and try on clothing. Especially for people that aren't a one size fits all type. I am sooo glad Dicks Sporting is still around. I happen to go in on Wednesday this past week. Perfect time, as they have a clearance sale going on for workout clothing, pants, sweaters etc. 25-75% off! Glad I came in. The layout of the store is good and clean. If you cant find what your looking for ask a sales representative and they will point you in the right direction as they have some items spread around. Where do I start. Walk in and head to the baseball glove area and nobody in sight to ask questions or get advice. On my lunch break so I leave and come back two days later. Same sh"t! I finally go up to cashier and they radio for someone and I wait 25 minutes by the gloves. Im pissed FYI, sonI ask the guy his opinion on a glove and he says, " Uh I'm not really sure but they should all be good". I'm like isn't this your area and he says,"I have no idea why they put me here"! WTF! Bottom line freakin joke here . They have a bunch of new generation kids working there who obviously lack motivation, desire and people skills. This has to be one of the worst stores I have been in a quite a long time. 12:30 - 3 floor stockers that don't know anything, 3 sales people on the the whole sales floor, 3 checkers (the only) good experience in the Visit. I was looking for 54" shoe laces. Now in the whole Damm store they had 1 set of 54" shoelace's , they had exactly 9 other sets of shoe laces, 4 being 1 size and most of them were purple. Then took me 5 mins to somebody that was willing to answer my questions but wasn't willing to look in stock because he was "sure" that was all they had. Worst customer service ever. Asked for help because I couldn't find something and the guy just points the direction of the equipment. No shit dipshit. I CANT FIND IT!!! Then he shows me and said he would get a ladder. He comes back after 5 minutes with no ladder, walks past me several times, and proceeded to put items on the selves. I Bought a purchase online for the sale. I Went to the Encinitas store and they did not allow us to pick it up because I hadn't received the email to pick it up yet. They said that system is different from the system that confirms your purchase. They said it may take an hour more to get the email. I had to cancel the order, and buy it there with no discount. I will never shop at this location again! I went in to shop for some workout capris and tank tops and noticed they had a "buy 1 get 1 50% off" sale on some of the UnderArmour clothes. The sale sign was only on some of the racks so I made sure to read the wording on the sign to make sure that what I was buying would be included in the sale. The sign stated that "heat gear capris" were part of the sale, which was exactly what I was buying. When I went to check out, the pants were not ringing up as part of the sale. The cashier called for assistance and I showed the guy who came to assist the wording on the sign that said "heat gear capris" included in the sale. The guy refused to honor the sale price, saying that it was only the items on the rack with the sale sign that would be on sale, offering me only a very insincere apology. He could have at least done something to compensate for the false advertising. I left the store without purchasing anything. I called the corporate customer service to voice my concerns. The customer service representative I spoke to on the phone was much more understanding and helpful. She apologized for the misunderstanding and even offered me some points toward my rewards account. That was not the purpose or goal of my call, but I appreciated that she was at least willing to do SOMETHING to rectify the situation. I have no problem with the company overall but the customer service in the Parkway Plaza store is seriously lacking! read more

run-of-the-mill sporting good store. Been here a few times: Once to research road bikes. It seemed to me the selection of bikes on display wasn't too much better than the selection at Wal Mart. I went about a month back to get new snow gloves. There was a great selection. They had a really good deal on some Burton Gore-Tex. I also went to pick up some boxing gear. I found the selection of equipment to be average. There was a good package deal on hand-wraps. Four stars because of the help. I couldn't find the above mentioned gloves at near-closing time.
