I asked where to get my fishing license and the young man cheerfully gave me precise instructions. Once I arrived at customer service I was greeted warmly and in less than 5 minutes I had my license. I chose 1 year but you can choose from a good variety of options up to three years! 5 star experience... While I walked about I was asked by a floor monitor if they could assist me with anything... I asked T question and they responded kindly good people in the store. I got some Iowa beef sticks... they also had good variety of jerky... that meaty juicy type not dried. I asked AI what are the top 5 most popular lures that work best in Utah and the store had all of them. I took them, a great Nike T shirt and my beefsteak at the cashiers near the entrance, paid and bid good day. I'd shop this place again.

(I had several questions) 10 minutes in golf department. Same story. 20 minutes in BBQ and the two guys there seemed more worried about the display looking great than offering help. The Pro Shop at Sundance not only got my friends up and fitted and out the door within 20 minutes, on a busy Friday morning, but they also only charged them $100 for two days of rental for two people. Now, we had a group discount because of an even that weekend, but it was 10%, so call it $120 for rental for two days for two people...sounds like a deal to me. But isn't that always how it works? :-)

That's where the staff at Park's finally turned me off of this store completely. The last time I was here was just before Father's Day, 2010. I bought a 4 person tent that was on sale. The sales staff was very helpful in assisting me with the purchase. However, when I took it back because of a defect, the assistant store manager who was on duty and took care of the exchange acted like he was doing me a huge favor and that I was imposing on his time. That left a bad taste in my mouth. That wasn't even the end. I took the new tent (WFS 732) camping and should have checked it out first before (like I did with the original tent) heading out with my sons. One of the shockcords was broken so I had to do a quick fix while we were at our campsite. After returning home, I had to go buy new elastic cord to fix the shockcord. About a month later, my son took it camping and the plastic zipper broke and so did the plastic hook that holds the rain cover to the tent. By this time, I had lost my receipt and knowing how they acted with my exchange when I had my receipt, I figure why even bother. To anyone from Park's who may end up reading this, know that you lost a customer when you blew it on the exchange. Take a lesson from the folks at Nordstrom.

Who knows what they're telling her when she fills out the forms. They take the gun and put it away after her background check doesn't clear right away. A week goes by and she calls them. It takes twenty minutes to get someone on the phone that knows anything. The person says yes we have the gun still and your background report has not come back yet. They also tell my wife do not call back -we will call you when your background report comes in. Flash forward another week, she calls back again, and they tell her her background report is still not back. Plus, we sold your gun. It's a unique shotgun, hard to find unless you specially order it. What an epic fail. I understand background checks are not their fault, but selling her gun?! After telling her they would hold it for her?!?! Don't buy guns at cal ranch. Go to cabellas or an armory.

We finally got assisted, tried on sizes and we were ready to check out. At the register, another customer walks in and THAT person is greeted with a "welcome in". Uumm, yeah, I wasn't expecting that because we weren't greeted when both girls were taking care of a previous customer. Strange. They had sales going on and while walking around looking at the sales, they weren't too bad. I haven't shopped at a BIG 5 in over 9 years. So I'm not too sure what their prices would be like. They seemed pretty cheap compared to DICKS sporting goods and Scheels. The store is clean and organized and well maintained. They have an average amount of inventory, not a whole bunch. We needed navy blue leggings. All we saw were black, dark grey and multi-colored ones. Not a whole lot of color options to choose from. The sizes range from S-XXL and you'll be able to find the sizes needed because they're stocked up with each size between that range. Overall store quality is nice. Customer service, could be MUCH better. For me, the service is always my first impression as soon as I step into the doors. There's no time to be an unhappy or distracted retail worker. You're on the clock. It doesn't take a lot of energy to throw on a smile and greet everyone walking through the doors.
