Doctor's orders were to stop wearing cheap shoes that aren't shaped how our feet are shaped. He sent me to runner's corner. I am not a runner & I typically cut corners - so this place is not a place I would frequent without prodding from my kind doctor who I trust. Boy, I wish I had come here before to buy shoes. You don't need to be a runner to get some great service and seemingly wise advice on foot care. I never realized how important the shoes we wear are - until I couldn't walk and the doctor said - "Change your shoes and problem solved." I loved the feel of this store. I am in need of extra good running shoes as I've had multiple knee surgeries and refuse to give up running. I loved their shoe wall which made it easy to explore the different variety of running shoes by brand and colors. It's also fun that they set it up so that an employee sits with you in a "director's" chair so that you feel like you're receiving special treatment. :) The employee who help me (I'm at a loss of his name right now) was knowledgeable about the different brands AND styles of shoes within each brand. It helped me make a more informed decision on what shoe would be best for me. I even had the owner (Hawk), come out and help me a bit since he's had knee surgeries and is also a runner. I appreciated the personal acknowledgment. They also have a mini track around their store on the inside and a sidewalk around the outside and they encourage you to run with the shoes one for a bit so you get the right feel. They even let you return them after purchasing and running in them outside if you end up being unsatisfied. That's incredible to me and makes the buying process less strenuous. My girlfriend was fitted for a shoe that was a little too big, so we came back a couple of days later to get her a better fitting shoe. Holy cow. Best service of any store I've ever been to. I went 3 times to 2 other running stores and didn't get as good of service as here, so I came back. All of the staff is so friendly and super helpful. They are really knowledgeable and will help you get the right shoe for your body. they treat you so good. The shoes I bought were already cheaper there than online (they also price match). The factory shipped them with the wrong size insoles so Runners Corner upgraded me and gave me some $10 comfort insoles for free and gave me 20% off. And, instead of trying to sell you a huge $30 bottle of waterproofing spray, they offered to waterproof them for free. I don't think I'll ever buy running shoes anywhere else. read more

Usually I know what I want and just order online. In the past I've was consistent with mizuno wave runner; however, a few years ago they changed their design enough to the point it no longer fit the way it use to. Since Chicago Marathon in 2018, I switched to On Cloud Swiss brand. It's been a great shoe since. Lately, I've been dealing with some major heal pain and working with a podiatrist. The pain has been progressively worth the past month, recognizing it as Plantar Fasciitis. I've been researching ways to help and that lead me to Hoka Bondi. Walking in I knew what shoe I wanted to try on I didn't know what size I would be since they run slightly different than others. I also didn't realize they closed at 6 and walked in at 5:50 pm, I assumed they closed at 7pm. They were wrapping up another couple and asked what I was looking for. I immediately asked to try a pair on and he told me they were closing soon. I acknowledged it and made an effort to be quick about it. The size was to big, so I asked for a smaller size and he told me that if I wanted to continue looking at shoes that I should come back another day. I'm sorry, but if you know a customer is going to spend a couple hundred dollars you don't push them out the door. I really wanted to pick up the shoe and make sure I was getting the right size because I know they are not good at returns. They didn't make any effort aside from the fact that I asked if the first shoe felt to big on my foot, which is did. I normally wear size 9 running shoe and the Hoka Bondi, I wear 8.5. He insisted that we wrap up because the manager is wanting them to close. Seriously, I think staying after an extra 10-15 isn't going to hurt anyone. I like this store, but disappointed in the experience this time. I'll check out other running stores next time. read more

Kind of a rough experience. I've been to many writing stories in the past and have had a wonderful experiences (including Wasatch running Center). It was a very busy day, so I understand the lack of staffing. That being said, the whole experience took about an hour and a half, much longer than I've ever experienced before in any other running store. The staff was not wearing masks or gloves, even though we were still advised to be social distancing. While I understand it's a personal choice, the rest of the customers were wearing masks, and it would've made me feel better. The staff member helping me a praise me for being "low maintenance" as she continued to help customers that came in after me while I sat and waited. The woman helping me seem to ramble on about facts that were not necessarily helpful, elongating the experience even further. appeared very distracted and made many errors that could have been avoided, but instead added time (things like not making sure the shoes were in the right boxes, making it so she had to go back and get the right ones, which took a long time, and not knowing store policies on certain shoes). I don't plan on going back, would not recommend. read more

Horrible. I went there with high expectations. I am new to running and was hoping to Get fitted for a good shoe. The owner was "helping" me. But was pulled away every 30 seconds to help someone else, including some banker trying to get the owner to take out another loan! He also sold me on these Altra shoes. (Come to find out he tries to sell everyone on those shoes bc his son is the designer or owner of them.) I walked out with two pairs for shoes. They gave me a horrible calf strain. I decided to return the 2nd pair but they REFUSED to Exchange them bc I have a life and was not able to get back within their 30 day window. I am now stuck with really expensive shoes I don't want. Just wanted to warn those of you who shop at the Running Corner. When they say you can try the shoes for 60 days you aren't suppose to run in them. I specifically asked "What happens if I hate these minimalist shoes, he said "you can try them and bring them back if you hate them." He should have told me not to use them but to keep them nice and new in the box and look at them. L-A-M-E. I ran in them THREE TIMES! I spent $117.00 on shoes that I hate and they "can't do anything for me" (oh except for give me a pair of free socks.) I ran a race this morning and my feet were SOAKED b/c there are HOLES.. YES HOLES in the bottom and the water soaked my socks within 30 steps. Who purposely puts HOLES in the BOTTOM of shoes... I looked it up and is says for the sweat to escape... does anyone really have THAT sweaty of feet? PS. The name of the shoes are Pearl Izumi Streak II, great for about the first 1/2 mile, but not for long distant and now I know not for rain or snow running. The sales clerk did not mention this either (he probably wasn't even aware of this weird feature as he should have been.) He suggested that I call the manufacture. I called Pearl Izumi 6 times, never could get anyone on the phone. Left message and message. Not one person returned my call. Horrible shoe, BAD costumer service on both parts. Hate the shoe! The freaking best place to find the perfect running shoe - that pretty much sums the place up, but I'll expand... I bought a pair of Nike Shox at Foot Locker a few months ago, thinking that they would be all that Nike claims them to be. That's the last time I correlate popularity and quality of shoes. These running shoes suck big time. Every night, I find my feet killing me after only two miles. But I think that I've found an awesome shoe for me, thanks to Runner's Corner. This is one of those stores where they find that "special" shoe that fits you perfectly. The first thing I learned was how to tie my shoes "the right way." Holy crap, I never knew that running shoe shopping was a science. I tried on a pair of shoes and was told to run around the store - by doing this, the guy that worked there either wanted to check my butt out or see how my foot hits the ground when I run. After the trial run, I tried on about 7 pairs of shoes until I found the ones that I loved. The only thing I didn't like was the price, but you really can't expect to spend any less than $70.00 on running shoes, especially when you go to a specialty store. I've got to say, the people that work at Runner's Corner really know what they're talking about. They're not paid on commission, so you know that they aren't just trying to get you to buy the most expensive pair. Cookie was especially helpful this time and spent over 30 minutes helping me find a good shoe. She was very knowledgeable and had tips to help improve my running as well. I would give zero stars if I could. I am a male and when I walked in the store I was approached by a male employee who asked if I needed help. I told him what I was looking for and he brought me out one pair of shoes to try on. At this time a young female walked in and he immediately left me to help her and did not return. I then sat there asking for help for the next 15 minutes. I was finally helped and ended up purchasing a pair of running shoes. During my first run with the new shoes they caused my supination in my left foot to be exaggerated. When I went to return them 3 days later they would only give me 90% of the purchase price back because I had forgotten to bring in the box. I was told they do not have any spare boxes and they could not sell them without the box. Really? A huge shoe store without a single extra box? read more

I had a similar experience as Isaac, except I couldn't get ANY help whatsoever and ended up leaving without purchasing anything. This was a few years ago but I was unable to send feedback on their website. It has bothered me for a long time and I just realized they were on Yelp. It was very strange. About 6 or 7 customers were standing around and there were no salespeople to be found. Finally a sales guy came in and he proceeded to go straight to the back, no greeting, no explanation... We all waited around for about 10 more minutes. He came out (yay!). Since I was the first one there, I headed towards him excited to pick out some new expensive shoes. As I was saying "Hi, I was looking for some..." A skinny, athletic girl walked through the door and he LITERALLY turned away from me and asked her what she needed help with. This was the strangest experience and seriously hurt my self esteem for a quite a while, because compared to this girl I am short, squat, and don't appear very athletic at all. What makes it interesting is Isaac's review-- I wonder if it was the same sales guy! I felt so bad, for a long time... It was so embarrassing and all the other customers witnesses it as well. I'm sure they were embarrassed for me. I just rushed out, red faced. I ended up getting some shoes at the big sports store over at the mall. Spent 90 bucks on them and they never fit correctly. But I guess if I were born tall, slender and athletic I would have been worthy of someone's advice! Makes me sad every time I pass it on 8th North. read more

I recently visited Runners Corner. I had heard great things about it. I am not an experienced runner and I have a hard time finding shoes that work for my foot. After waiting quite a while on Tuesday this week to get help from Triss. He was lack luster to help me. I told him I had narrow feet and had trouble finding a shoe that didn't slide on my heel. He brought me out the Asics Cumulus 13 2E shoe to try on. WHAT! seriously. That shoe is double wide Then a pretty girl that was a competitive runner came in, and he completely lost interest in helping me. So I went and bought my shoes at 26.2 where they gave me much better service. I would just like you to know that after wasting 2 hours in your store WANTING to PAY RETAIL so I COULD GET SOME HELP, I was pretty much forced to go somewhere else that would help me out. I wouldn't recommend your store to anyone after the help I got from him. I even tried to get help from another worker, who was also concerned with a pretty young lady. Poor, Poor service. read more
