After being incredibly disappointed at ReadyGunner down the street, my wife and I came here and were surprised with how much of a better experience Gunnies was. Busy side of the gun counter, I poked around and was looking at a few things, and then was greeted by an individual who was eager to help. We talked about the firearm I wanted to look at (P229) and what I was potentially trading across Utah Gun Exchange (I told him I wasn't going to buy anything, he didn't mind at all - happy to share some knowledge). I was able to handle the weapon, asked a few questions, and by luck of the draw he had a few SIG firearms and he gave me his opinion. Later, bringing up a different firearm in passing, he said he actually owned that firearm (lucky for me) and told me his "issues" with it, what he has done, and what he would recommend I do when I am able to procure that firearm. Downright, a fantastic experience. The gun counter crew on 8/27 should be proud of themselves for being so incredibly helpful. This is almost the tale of two businesses: the gun shop and the western wear. Hard to cram them in together, but I'll give a brief synopsis. On the gun side, finding a local gun shop that you like is probably a personal preference. Who jives with you. Whose philosophy do you like. When you figure that out, you can figure out which shop you want to call "yours." I can't really speak much to their philosophy, as I haven't had much 1:1 time with their staff, but overall, they do have a good collection of both long guns and handguns. And I think they land slightly to the side of more traditional firearms, rather than the all-out tactical kind you see at other shops. You can't also house a western wear shop and not have a good selection of wood stock rifles, you know? That's not to say that they don't do the tactical--they do. And they've got plenty of accessories that run the gamut from holsters to bipods to optics. And a pretty wide selection of ammo. **** And now, the western wear side. Yeehaw, cowboys. They've got a boot shop, plenty of dressy and casual shirts, a nice selection of denim, and hats that start at the surprisingly affordable and run up to the spendy. Get yourself a belt buckle out of the case in the middle and you've completed the whole package. Prices are pretty decent, but you can also spend more on the fancy stuff. Fun to browse the place. If you're after guns or western clothing, its a destination, obviously. If not, it could be a fun stroll if you're in the neighborhood. read more

Awesome discovery for firearm enthusiasts! They have great firearm collection for a little gun shop! Their ammos are mostly stocked. One store we could find in Utah that sells 124 grams 9mm planking ammo. I know it is Blazer. It is firing time is a bit slower than Fed 9mm 124 grams. But the accuracy is still better than Fed 115 grams. The price of their ammo is better than most of gun shops around Utah. We haven't purchase firearms here before because we always find cheaper price online... This gun shop got a lot gun holsters! More than any stores in Utah. Staffs are always friendly and knowledgeable. I even bought a gift card here for my gun enthusiast friend. read more

Also very affordable and they always have a sale going (which I love as a bargain shopper). Bought a few guns from Gunnies. I had a problem with my Kimber from the first shot. They told me I needed to shoot a lot of ammo to get it to quit jamming. After 200 rounds I went back and told them it's still jamming and the magazine pops out. Again the told me to shoot more and use higher grain. After much money and 800 rounds it's still jamming and the magazine comes out almost every 7 shots. I finally said I want to give it back Rex the owner couldn't have been ruder. He said I could trade it in as a used gun. He says it's not their fault but the manufacturer. Long story short they don't stand behind what they sell and their attitude is horrible. There are plenty of shops in the Orem Provo area to buy guns and equipment. I would suggest going somewhere where the people care about there customers. read more

I needed to return a gun case and i lost the receipt and the tag and paid with apple pay (which makes it near impossible to locate the card holder/transaction). It was a REAL hassle. The manager patiently put in a lot of effort and was determined to find a solution to my problem. She went out of her way to make sure I got my refund and after a lot of searching I got it! 10-10-17 Since leaving the last update, I got in contact with a rep from Gunnies who confirmed I have in store credit, but it expires at the end of the year. Since then, I went in and successfully redeemed $25 against a purchase. As I mentioned in my initial review, I'll bump stars as they follow through with their commitment. I think Gunnies is a fine store, but have been disappointed more than once. They appear to be making good improvements, though, and they did make good on getting me the credits I was promised originally. As such, I've raised my rating. From approx 9-24-17: As a quick follow up... as you can see, I was contacted by Gunnie's employee. I responded to her directly via email three days later. It's now been 9 days since that email, with no further response. As I didn't get any reply to me email, I tried calling their store twice. Both times, I was directed to their gun counter. But they don't answer their phone. The first call I made, I was on hold (waiting for anyone at their gun counter to pick up) for over 15 minutes before I hung up. The second attempt was just tonight and I waited just over 13 minutes on hold before I hung up. This time, I actually took a screen shot of the time so it would be clear I'm not making this up. Been shopping here for years and have always had great experiences, bought 4 guns here with awesome service and great prices. So I cannot give them a 1 star. That being said today I bought one of their exploding targets. Seems to be a new brand. Anyway long story short drove about 40 minutes just to shoot it and nothing. It was a dud. It didnt go off. I get it, that happens. However I thought Gunnies would be able to take care of me and at least give me some store credit for selling a faulty product. Instead they wouldn't even consider giving me anything. I have been a loyal customer here for a while but with how unwilling they were to do anything today makes me hesitant to buy merchandise from them in the future. Especially with so many other choices nearby. I responded by asking "to look at?" He then proceeded to say "yeah like as in not for sale." In the most condescending way he was able to muster without actually calling me an asshole. I have to give them a 5 star rating!! These guys were so completely and absolutely wonderful to me the day I went in to buy my husband a hand gun! I was 9 months pregnant and had on huge gym shorts, my husband's sweatshirt and flip flops in the end of Nov because nothing else fit and my feet were too swollen to wear real shoes. They just laughed and got me all set up with a gun! I got an amazing deal and the staff was so helpful. The process was so much quicker than I expected. 1 star in regards for customer service. Friendly staff, however the gun counter reps are typically too preoccupied chitchating to even pay notice to customers who intend on making purchases. When it comes down to my firearm purchases, buying primers or powder,.. sadly, I rather drive further or pay more elsewhere. Only on rare occasions have I ever been asked if I need assistance. Typically if I do need assistance, it takes blatantly flagging down one of the wandering reluctant reps for help. My advice to inquiring prospective customers: be prepared to wait a long time for help, and be assertive otherwise the gun counter staff won't pay notice to you. read more

Guns and ammo section is very impressive at gunnies. They're one of the few retail locations that sell bulk military ammunition in spam cans and the price is actually cheaper than online competition if you incorporate the shipping cost. Gunnies has lost a loyal customer. I used to love this store. Locally owned, helpful staff, pro second amendment, competitively priced ammo, etc. I've spent several thousand dollars there in the past couple years alone since I moved to the area, including firearms purchases, LOTS of ammo, several holsters, etc. A while back I tried to exchange one of those holsters but was turned down because it was past their 8 week limit. It was a brand new holster that had never been used. It was only taken it out of its box when I first bought it. Since then it just sat in its packaging collecting dust. The cashier was understanding, but the shift manager walked over and immediately shot me down without pity. It was surprising how he made a big deal out of it like I was requesting something impossible. I tried to explain what I already told the cashiers, but he didn't care. It was a little insulting. At least try to be polite about it. You can't just allow store credit? I wasn't asking for a refund. I understand the need for strict policy so people can't exchange worn out gear, but, like I mentioned, this holster was brand new, never used, and still in its box like the day I got it. It was not some beat up pair of boots. The holster didn't have a scratch. I've been a loyal customer and always referred my friends and family to Gunnies when they asked what gun store I recommend. NOT ANYMORE. This changed all that. It's not a wise business practice to treat loyal customers this way. Now they've lost out on many more thousands of dollars I would have surely spent there over the coming decades. Oh well. There are many other gun stores in utah valley. Anyway, I like this place because they have the old store feel of "throw a lot of product on the floor and who cares if it's organized". They do have a lot of products to choose from here, and a more diverse gun selection than you may expect at first glance (it's a western store). Reading these reviews are interesting in the sense that they are primarily just communication problems, and what store doesn't have that? Do you expect to hire representatives that know 100% about the business? That's not a very likely case. --My experience was great, we had went to cabelas to get our first gun (Wife & I) but after sticker shock we went and looked around at local stores and gunnies was recommended to us by a cousin who is an LEO. We went in and were treated great, the price couldn't have been beaten and they make sure to answer all the questions you might ever have. I am very well versed in the realm of firearms and operation thereof and they made sure I was up to snuff on all my CC laws and stocked me up on ammo and got me with a holster for my new Glock 19. Very good experience, I will be returning to any future purchases. PLUS, they are one of the only stores in the state that seems to have .22lr on stock, which is incredible. read more

Saw this store multiple times on Nutnfancy, so I figured I should stop by while passing through. I became jealous of all who live in free states immediately upon walking in. Gun selection was huge as well as everything else. I picked up an OWB leather holster for my Glock 19 as well as some .38 shot shells and .22 short ammo. Both of these ammo types are hard to find in CA and online. Overall pleasant staff and great selection. Will definitely come back when I pass through again. read more
