This review is long overdue. I can start by saying that Diamond's work absolutely holds up! Summer of 2023, a different contractor had completely botched my home renovation. So I looked for a local contractor who was actually LICENSED with a specialty in concrete. That license lookup and a friend's recommendation led me to Diamond's. They were one of the best cover contractors with their responsiveness, fair pricing, and diligence, and work ethic. Eric and his son first had to demolish and discard previous work, including a patio which the previous contractor did not slope properly and a long, cracked and crumbled driveway. Eric really knew what he was doing and explained things to me clearly each step of the way. They poured me a new driveway with proper reinforcement, a new patio, and everything was PROPERLY sloped cuz they're pros. Bonus work: Eric dug and installed a drainage ditch in the backyard that emptied into a Christy box installed at the end of the driveway. Backyard is prone to flooding and this was a helpful, thoughtful solution that I can adapt with a sump pump later. All in all, a LOT of work handled masterfully and professionally, making good time with their small and efficient crew. It was a $$$ investment but the price was fair and most importantly, up to standard. Don't mess around with amateurs when it comes to concrete. Get it done correctly the first time, which should be the ONLY time -- Diamond's will last forever. I will come back to this review to add pictures later of the work 2 years on. Eric stopped by my home the same day I initially called and my instincts told me he was gonna be good. Even so, I still had doubts because like others, we've been burned before. Eric installed a driveway for us in a hurry because our cars were getting broken into or attempted being stolen or sometimes windows just being smashed at least once a week. Start to finish I want to say it was a week. He is an expert who will get the job done with a high degree of professionalism. Wish he did more than concrete but am grateful he's good at what he does. I would hire him again in a heart beat and highly recommend him. Please note: I am writing this review because it's so important to help others navigate the sometimes overwhelming number of choices out there. For me, being forced by the high probability of an imminent attack on our property, I definitely relied on the reviews of others to make a rapid fire decision. This is the third time, that we have had Eric and his crew come do cement work at our home, in Oakland. First time, he did our driveway and back patio and pathway. Second time, about 3 months later, he came back to put in a walkway between the garden and front of house, to prevent water from running into the foundation. This time, he's re-building a 60' retaining wall for us, by removing the existing cinder block, digging out a huge trench to properly frame it out, and then poured the concrete today. He always shows up on time, cleans up every day, and does a great job. We are very happy with his work, and have recommended him to everyone who is looking for concrete work. He's the guy, if you need to have your Oakland sidewalks fixed. We were fortunate to have him come pour this for us, before the rains return. We will have one or two more projects for him, but they'll have to wait for drier weather. read more

I have worked with Eric for the past 10 years on 4 different projects. Eric and his crew worked quickly and meticulously on each project. He addressed my concerns throughout each project and was very responsive to all my questions. Eric kept me posted as to the time frame of each project and what would occur each day. I hired Eric to remove an old and leaning wooden retaining wall - and then build a new french drain and concrete retaining wall with piers. The wall and piers were reinforced with rebar. Eric's quote was competitive, he was responsive and proactive during the bidding process, and he came across as friendly and reasonable. He also provided multiple references that I called and who were all happy, and he showed me lots of pictures of previous work he has done in various stages of construction. For those reasons, I decided to move forward with him. He and his guys worked hard and performed the tough manual labor impressively. Outside of the work taking slightly longer than originally anticipated, I have no qualms. Several times throughout the building process, I looked closely at their work and watched them for a bit. I could tell they were putting care into what they built. Their finished product is exactly what I envisioned. Eric kept me updated, was upfront if they ran into issues, and explained how they were going to proceed. I'd have no problems hiring Eric again or recommending him to friends and family. read more

As Eric was working through the re-build and the leveling of my concrete floors he spotted an anomaly in the construction. He pointed it out and was able to come up with a solution for correcting it. We had entrusted our initial concrete work with an unlicensed handyman who assured us he could deliver the patio desired- learned our lesson the hard way when he left us with: an uneven slab (2 inches in some places, 4 inches in others); didn't smooth or color the top layer before it dried so added thinset mortar with mixed in color in 1 cm layers which instantly chipped the next day; "fixed" it by sanding down to aggregate layer leaving us with a less than aesthetically pleasing, unleveled mess... Eric at Diamond's Concrete, a licensed business that specializes in concrete, provided a fair quote to demo the existing slab, find a solution for our short/ raised arbor posts (see photos of smooth/ sleek square shaped concrete forms), layout rebar and frame our 11x20ft patio, bring in a cement truck to mix/pour integral colored concrete, and stamp with brickform Grand Ashlar Slate Stamps w/ medium gray release powder (see my photos attached). He estimated a 4 day turnaround. The last guy had also estimated 4 days, but it dragged into 1.5 months so despite my fears, Eric delivered everything he committed to do! In less than 2 days they busted out the demo, laid out tarps and kept our pavers/ walkway and grass clean, picked up and hauled out all trash, and poured the arbor post forms. They framed everything in less than a day, and then poured/ smoothed and stamped the patio in less than another day. Eric gave solid advice on how to border the patio and lay the compression lines. I definitely suggest coming prepared with the design elements you'd like (concrete color, stamps, release powder, lines, etc) you'd like as this isn't something they'll consult on- they get the job done very well, but are not designers. Eric gave me the name of a store that rents the brickform stamps and I selected everything/ paid separately for it, and he picked it all up, which was a nice process as it broke out the costs involved. I also paid separately for the cement truck (our yard is not easily accessible by wheelbarrow) and the Davis integral color. Very happy with the end results. We will be adding a sealant shortly and start enjoying our new patio this spring/summer! read more

We hired Eric and his team to pour concrete in our basement, and we are extremely happy with the job. We needed to have the dirt in our basement dug out of an area around the garage and in a back root cellar. Eric offered a bid that was reasonable and within our budget, and was very professional throughout the entire process. He carefully managed every detail of the week-long project and coordinated and supervised progress every day. For example, he had a team come in to first dig out the dirt and had a dump truck arrive to haul the dirt away; Eric would stop by to monitor progress and ensure that the appropriate depth had been reached in the digging and that all dirt was successfully removed. When it was time to lay rebar, another team arrived and again Eric would check-in to ensure the work was done correctly. On "pour day", about 8 people showed up to coordinate the laying of the actual cement, including one guy who seemed to specialize in 'finishing' the cement by making sure it was perfectly even and smooth. Every step of the project was well thought out and managed. All around, we are 100% satisfied with their work and highly recommend. read more

Treat yourself to the luxury of having Eric and his team take care of your concrete work because they are experienced and professional. Only thing you have to do is decide if you want color added to your concrete order, and if so, what color. We went to www.daviscolors.com/concrete-colors/ and ordered five concrete color samples. The first three are free. Shipping took about a week. We went with the color Pebble because it was the lightest. It turned out darker than the little sample which is what we thought might happen and why we went with the lightest color that we liked. Eric's a professional and I'm glad I had the pleasure of getting a better driveway than I was expecting. We extended the driveway two feet and Eric had no problem with that or any of our requests. Diamond Concrete poured a new driveway for me. I asked for a certain color and a certain finish. I showed Diamond Concrete what I wanted by showing them my patio. That color and that finish I specified. Fine they said. It was spelled out in the written contract. We both signed it. Before the concrete was poured I reiterated my desires and was assured I would have the color and the finish I asked for. They got both the color and the finish wrong. But worse still was the response when I pointed out the breach of contract. I would not recommend them and I would not use the company again. read more

I am still in construction but because it's so magnificent, I need to review Eric and his crew now. I shared just last night (10/30/2014) that Eric is the "Michaelangelo of Concrete". My story is that I contacted Eric after a process that was horrendous involving another contractor's recommendation for a concrete company. The company came in with a completely catastrophic quote; so much so that even the company that referred them vowed to never use them again. When that company tried to make up for their error in the process by bidding his portion of the job, I decided to go back to Eric since his quote was fair, his reputation was stellar (and this is outside of his YELP reviews as well as inclusive of them). I asked Eric if he was available and he was just wrapping up a job. He came with his crew and went to work. Not only did they complete what was estimated to be a two-week job in one-week, the work product is exceptional (even the City inspector was impressed). The work is clean, precise, to spec and coordinated so well with the contractor that did adjoining work, the neighbors walk their dogs past my home in amazement with how gorgeous it is. So, while I wait for the rain to pass so that he can do the asphalt portion of the job, I smile at knowing that while anyone who may have been unhappy with his work (and we are all entitled to our opinion), the work he did for me was EXCEPTIONALLY BEAUTIFUL. I can't say enough about his work and I encourage anyone reading this review who wants more information to message me privately but I did encourage him to use me as a reference. Eric and his crew just finished a large patio project for us last week. They were extremely professional, well organized and meticulous about the details. The project called for two separate patio areas, an extension of the existing colored stamped patio (originally done in 2005) and a matching one to be installed with a brick border. The one with the brick border had very detailed rebar and finishing work. Both look beautiful and I am happy at how well the colors matched. Back in July 2013 I obtained bids from several contractors on replacing my cracked concrete and asphalt driveway. The work would not commence until the late fall and I had questions for some of the contractors based on their bids. Eric's answers seemed honest, as opposed to some of the others, and spoke to me, about his experience doing concrete work. He also followed up with me over the summer to let me know that he was interested in doing the work. In January 2014, some 6 months from the original quotes, I chose Diamonds Concrete (Eric) to do the work. He honored the original quote even though the scope of work was based on a verbal commitment made during his original visit to include replacing the asphalt portion with concrete as well. Someone ran over and got their truck stuck on a small raised curb that we have in front of our house. The curb was scarred and was unattractive. It was not a big job, but Eric was willing to take it on and did an excellent job. I asked him to about putting some headlight reflectors on the edges of the curb so that we might avoid this type of issue in the future. Eric picked up some reflectors at the hardware store on the way to our house. This turned out to be a little harder than we had anticipated, but Eric did it with his general good nature. This review is long overdue but I had to wait until the rains to see how well the driveway worked. We hired Eric and his crew to remove about 2000 square feet of a deteriorating asphalt driveway and replace with a concrete driveway and parking area. His crew was quick, came in on time, removed all asphalt, tamped the ground, and poured concrete with rebar all on the exact days he scheduled. Contract agreement was clean, simple, and payments were due as work was completed. Rebar was installed floating rather than laid on the ground which indicates he knows his stuff. All work was done in a complete and professional manner. Job site was cleaned up after all work was completed and everything was put back to normal. What impressed me most was that Eric is hands on when installing the concrete. He didn't leave the final installation to his crew to complete. He was shin deep in the concrete during the pour, sweating bullets as he worked. This is an owner that takes pride in his finished work. I was on a budget so Eric advised me about drainage options to slope the driveway so that rain water would flow down the driveway instead of the more costly alternative of installing underground drainage for my gutters. I was skeptical about the idea at first but he proved me wrong. He was able to slightly slope the concrete in such a way as to drain all water to the street without going to the neighbors. Very impressive. He even replaced my deteriorating brick planter boxes with a new concrete box. Driveway looks clean, neat, professional, and no more weeds growing from the asphalt. Do yourself a favor and at least meet and get a bid from Eric. He comes on time, is very efficient, and finishes everything before he leaves. read more

If you are looking to hire someone for concrete work - look no further! Eric recently replaced and enlarged our driveway and his work was fantastic! It's not even a week old and already we have had people stop to ask who we hired to do the job. We have a one car garage and wanted to enlarge the driveway to accommodate two cars. The problem was that the original owner of our house had allowed the next door neighbor to use part of our property to make her driveway large enough for two cars and a planter box! Our neighbor recently died and the family will be selling house, so it was time to take back that section for our driveway. Eric came in and cut the neighbor's driveway back to her property line and then poured a big, beautiful driveway for us! Eric and his assistant are very nice people, and easy to work with.
