We are the owners and designers of a nearly 4,000 square foot high-end home in Marin County for which we recently completed new construction. We hired a general contractor and agreed to use all of their selected subcontractors except for a small subset we insisted on selecting ourselves, including High Tech Screens & Shades. We thankfully discovered High Tech Screens via online searches, and validated them through our Windows & Doors subcontractor/reseller. (we installed the highest end Marvin Ultimates and Marvin Moderns throughout our project) High Tech (Josh and Justin) arrived as scheduled, and always on time. They assessed and installed custom screens on four of our doors, including two outswinging french doors (2 screens on each), and two single outswinging doors. High Tech's attention to detail and quality work is notable. The finishes match our door trim as desired. The function of the screens are excellent, and the screens "hide-away" from view when not in use / retracted. Further, High Tech's screens and craftsmanship are so good that we unfortunately had a worker inadvertently walk through one of them after installation (the installation was so clean he didn't see the screen). Josh and Justin found time to return to the site within 48 hours and repair the screen so that it works like new. We cannot recommend highly enough High Tech Screens & Shades. If you are looking for a professional job/installation for screens for a high-end home, they are the truly the only firm you need to consider. read more

I thought I had a problem with the remote control. I called Rick, and he walked me through the solution. He was kind, he was patient as I was running around trying to find an extension cord, and best of all, he solved the problem over the phone. It wasn't the remote; it was the GFI switch. When we decided to look into retractable awnings one of our neighbors recommended Rick. We decided to place an order with him. His installation crew, Chuy, Tony, and Brandon, came to install it. The highest praise that I can give a business is that it was a pleasure having them in my home. This awning keeps out of the morning sun and the afternoon sun. In the summer it reduces the heat so that we don't have to run our air conditioner as much as we did before it came. If the wind blows too much, the awning retracts itself. It's pretty clever. I know that there is another awning company out there, but here is the difference. We have three large windows, and Rick was able to cover all three with one shade. My neighbor, who has the same windows in her house used the other company. She had to have two awnings installed. One covers two of the windows, and the other covers the third window. We order a phantom screen for our front door online and were directed to our local supplier. Josh was very communicative and had us in the production line and scheduled for two weeks out. Installation went smoothly and we loved our new screen door for all of a week...until our sweet but occasionally obliviously dog busted through the bottom. I immediately reached out to Josh and he responded almost instantly with a fix date and time of the following day. To say that we were relieved is putting it mildly. High Tech Screens installed a retractable screen door for me 3 years ago. Now it won't latch. I called the phone number on the old card (Josh Long 415-755-0112). Josh answered but he couldn't hear me. I sent an email to the address in the card, and it bounced back. I looked up the company on line and found. The logo is the same. I called the phone number on the website and got a message that said "The mailbox is full. Goodbye". So ... i have a problem, but the company is unreachable. Terrific. Later: I went to the BBB to file a report and found a phone number on their web-site that connected me to the company's owner. He apologized, will have Josh call me, and will do the repair at no charge. Email address was outdated, and phone mail had just filled up. If I am happy with the repair, I will revise rating up to 5 stars, as I was very happy with the product and installation, until it broke. They came right out and fixed the problem. I must admit that the phone number I needed was on the invoice, but I didn't see it because I had stapled Josh's card over it. My bad. read more

Josh installed an amazing external screen door outside our front door. I live in a condo unit that opens onto a courtyard.
