Clough Construction has done three jobs for me over the years, so it's probably about time I gave them a review. First off the Deanne and the office staff are super helpful. Despite a busy schedule they always find time to help me out sooner rather than later. Scott Clough then comes out both to survey the job to give a bid and then on the day the crew arrives to make sure everyone is on the same page. In the past they have built an amazing fence along the street that still gets the attention of people walking by and rebuilt part of a failing deck along a steep hill. This most recent crew of Quinn and Salvadore were efficient and professional. They replaced a bunch of dry rot under a deck and just looking at the result warms my heart (homeowners with dry rot will understand). The guys were friendly, hard working, and completed the job in record time. The clean up was also excellent which in my experience not a lot of construction companies do well. I called for an estimate over 3 months ago and was told I would be put on the waiting list. OK - I get it everyone is busy. At month 2.5 I checked back in and was told it would be a bit longer. Last week I called as it had been way past the 3 month time line and no answer. Today, more than 3 months has past, I was told they could come out next month . We are so happy with our decks that Clough built for us. We had an old rotten cantilever deck off the top level of our house about 30 feet above the ground that needed replacement. We worked with an architect and engineer to design a massive three level deck to replace it. When we bid it out, many contractors said that the job was too difficult due to the terrain and narrow streets where our house was located. Some did not even respond. This did not deter Scott at Clough Construction. He gave us a very fairly priced bid for the job. During the whole process the Clough team was very professional. We have had other contractors do decent sized jobs at our house and I can definitely say that the Clough crew, led by Rick, was the most professional and least disruptive to us and our neighbors. Not to mention that the quality of the work is amazing. The attention to detail and ability to account for a few inconsistencies in the initial plans that we provided to them show that they really know what they are doing. Scott came out, looked over my project and made some suggestions I had not thought of. (saved me some $$) Our fences were over 50 years old. Design was on point and keeping with the theme and design of the house. The crew arrived on time every day and it was the same guys from beginning to end. We personally made sure they had plenty of liquids to drink as it was VERY warm. Great quality, top end materials, Awesome crew that kept the job-site clean every day. Biggest drawback is you will need to pull permit for the project. I live within city limits of Novato and it took 4 weeks to get my permit. Was not too difficult to do. Clough has now done two large and a couple of small jobs for us - first was a 6ft high fence along 200+ feet of our yard, including a steeply sloped side fence. Scott was great about recommending which style, and the crew were fast, professional, and left the site cleaner than they found it. They built a couple of gates in the fence, including one in a small section of existing fence and they did a great job of matching the style. The second large job was our deck - they removed an old deck, put piers in the ground for the new one (25 ft above a slope, so they had to go into a steep slope and drill into rock to ensure it was solid and would hold up to years of wear, tear and the occasional earthquake), and built a new deck. We loved the whole experience - they helped us with choosing materials - Deanne walked us through all the wood and composite decking choices, styles etc. at their office, where they have a lot of built sections at the side so you can see how they deal with the weather - and advised us on design. Their crew were again professional, communicated clearly, turned up on time and left the site very clean and organized. They happily worked carefully around my beloved redwood and were happy to resist any trimming so the deck really feels as if it is in the tree. I'll post some photos, but I have to say, it's gorgeous! A few weeks before the installation was finished, Deanne called to say that a new product had come out that was similar to the one we chose, but nicer and she suggested we go to a lumber yard to see it. She was right - it's a better texture and we are very happy to have gone with the faux wood so we don't have to stain/finish the deck. They charged only the marginal difference in the cost of the material for the change. The railings are redwoods and look great. The little jobs they did - shoring up a structurally suspect pillar under our house and straightening and reinforcing a small wobbly deck, we done quickly and well. I highly recommend Clough - there are very very few times I have dealt multiple times with any construction firm and found my opinion high and rising the whole time. If all contractors were as lovely, professional, skilled and ethical as Scott, Deanne and their team, services like Yelp wouldn't have to exist. I recommend clough for their though rough construction to build a fence around our house that looks beautiful and is very functional. it enhances the beauty of the redwoods in Mill valley and with surrounding park while protecting our privacy and safety. Braulio and his whole crew build the fans in nine days or so quickly then I thought and also thought of ingenious ways to let the water of the rivulette glow thru a gate. Our house has 1000 sq ft of decking over three levels and we have lived here for over 15 years.  I have I used Clough Construction in the past for smaller maintenance projects, to replace beams and gates, and they have always been excellent. So when it came time to do an expansive project to replace all of the old railings with modern Feeney cable railings, as well as rebuild two sets of stairs between our upper, middle and lower decks.  It was an easy decision to call Clough Construction for the project.  I did not even get any other bids, as I already had confidence in their work quality!  The Clough Construction team are very easy to work with and put clients first at every step of the way.  Deanne follows up on a regular basis to make sure you are happy and Scott is flexible to work with as project changes inevitably come up.
