From beginning to the end it was service excellence customer-focused. Mark who does the site estimate was friendly and knowledgeable. I had concrete work with some paver border design. I was given a suggestion for the paver design and I could not love it more! The men who did the work were kind, friendly and took extreme care with surrounding areas. I didn't know if I could afford Van Midde however they were 20% less than a company that was going to give me a 'good' deal doing it on the weekends. Company interaction, price, quality, all were above and beyond expectations! read more

The Van Midde team, beginning to end, were professional, knowledgeable and courteous. Not only did they do an incredible job of our concrete sidewalk...they left the site cleaner than they found it. I appreciate the Van Midde team staying on their projected time-line and providing an excellent result. I recommend them highly and will use Van Midde again for all concrete work. read more

We had them repair a section of driveway and while the construction itself seems sound, there was little attention paid to color match or texture with the existing driveway. It's so far off being any kind of acceptable match I imagine we will have to redo this job at some point. It's really disappointing. read more

More great work by Van Midde. The guys tore out a 60 (?) year old walkway along the side of my house and installed new drainage - hooray, no more water in my garage! - rebar and new concrete to match the driveway, front walkway, and sidewalk they'd previously installed. All done in 3 1/2 days as follows: - Mark's estimate was timely, reasonable and they stuck to that price - The group showed up every day on time at 8:00 and worked HARD until 5:00 - They cleaned up everything, every night before leaving - They took extra care to protect my house and the neighbor's house 5 feet away The concrete looks great, the drainage works, and it's cleaner than when they arrived. The crew was polite, professional, and a pleasure to work with. This was the 4th time I've used Van Midde for concrete jobs around my house, each time 5 stars. read more

Van Midde and their crews set the bar high when it comes to contractors and standing behind their work. We have a massive project, with regrading our driveway so we can get up and down easier. They knocked it out with ease. Fast forward a few years, I had a couple pavers that had chipped, they were out the next day and replaced them. This is why you go with a reputable company like Van Midde, they stand behind their work. read more

We couldn't have been more pleased with the paver project that Van Midde did for us. Not only was the workmanship top notch but the interaction with the workers was exceptional. They were very friendly, attentive to our needs and questions, and just a pleasure to be around. Not sure if we have ever worked with a better group of people than the crew we had on our project. Mark who was the project manager was very down to earth and kept following up with us to make sure that the project was progressing to our satisfaction. The on-site crew was led by Miguel whose positive attitude and great sense of humor made each contact like talking to a good friend. His team included Ramon, Chuy, and Santos. They too had the same friendly demeanor and customer comes first attitude. Plus the quality of their work showed thru in every phase of the project. We look forward to working with them again. read more

These guys fixed a crumbling part of a rock retaining wall. They were great. The estimate process was easy. The guy who did the work was so nice and the wall looks terrific. Will definitely work with them again. read more

Very efficient and kind. Very much lived up to the contract and expectations. Had multiple flights of stairs redone (original 100+ year old rock stairs) and they are now, not only safe, but beautiful. You wouldn't think to call concrete stairs beautiful but the workmanship and attention to detail warrants it. You can see the experience and craft in the finished product. Highly recommend and worth the cost. read more

Van Midde was easy to work with, prompt, and the quality of work is top knotch. We just had our driveway and side walkway completed by Ted and his crew, and have already received many compliments. Upon first meeting Ted, he was patient and knowledgeable. We didn't know exactly what we wanted in style, curbing etc. We knew we needed help with the drainage and to make our driveway larger. Within 2 weeks, our house looks brand new and the workmanship is detailed and spot on. We are referring our neighbors to Van Midde who are also looking to get their driveway done. Thank you Van Midde! read more

I'd give 10 stars if I could. (Ted) Van Midde concrete does a fantastic job every step of the process. Suffice it to say that each and every completed project would satisfy the pickiest person you know. They consider every job to be a showcase for their expertise. That's the bottom line. Additionally, we set a date 6-8 weeks out - they were there on the dot and did not leave until completion - (no down time while they did work elsewhere). read more

There is A reason these guys are so highly rated. Both father and son are on top of their game. We have a commercial project downtown San Rafael that had some trip hazards and needed some overhauling. It was a large project involved nearly shutting down the entire complex for a week. Vanmidde Concrete insured that tenants stayed open and had safe access while the project was going on. The interfaced with the city quite well and kept us posted on progress of the project. Best part is they did what they said they were going to do. And we're honest and upfront the whole time. There were no change orders. Would highly recommend and will use them in the future. read more

After submitting a very competitive bid, we had Van Midde & Son redo our driveway, pathway & backyard. We wanted to repurpose some old brick that existed in the backyard as well keep an old horseshoe that was embedded in the 50+ year old existing concrete. Other more "corporate" paver companies scoffed at this idea and basically called us ding dongs for even considering it. Not Ted & crew. They repurposed the old brick to make a small wall to serve as step up to a small grassed area, which turned out to be artificial grass. I was hesitant about installing artificial grass at first, but due to shade, children, dog pee & the drought, the cards were stacked against natural grass. Ted provided a great variety of swatches of fake grass, and it turned out great. Looks real, no mowing or waste of water. And we ended up relocating the horseshoe to the base of our steps in our driveway. Ted and his crew were very collaborative and extremely helpful throughout the process. Even helped carry in groceries and made sure our escape artist of a Bassett hound did not escape during the construction. Also they are local, which is a major plus. The way I look at it, the corporate companies turned out to be the ding dongs. read more

These guys are professional craftsmen and all around good dudes. I'd leave my kids with them if they offered babysitting.

Ted and his crew did an excellent job repairing our business driveway and sidewalk. It used to be a hazardous mess out front, and now I'm thrilled at how good it looks. I was a little nervous about the job, but Ted made some great aesthetic and practical improvements that made a huge positive difference. I highly recommend them. read more

We had just moved to San Anselmo and this company was recommended by the local concrete supplier. Jason, our contact person was patient, knowledgeable and thorough. For awhile, we just couldn't decide exactly what we wanted done and he kept on revising our estimates. At first I couldn't understand why the prices were so high since I had never had concrete work done before. I didn't understand the process that went into site preparation before the concrete pour. There was a full week of preparation. The final product turned out great! In fact, their work was better than the concrete that had just been installed at our house before we bought it. We were able to get the color of the original work so the job looks seamless. The workers were prompt, kept the site clean and Jason was on top of the job the whole time. We have done a lot of renovation and have had many aggravating experiences, in fact we are dealing with one right now, so I don't give a 5 star review lightly. I rely on Yelp so I am glad to give Van Midde my endorsement for future clients. read more

If you need any concrete work in Marin, hire Van Midde. It will be exceptional work, performed on time and at the price bid. I had stamped concrete installed many years ago and it still looks great. We had pavers installed along a walk way to allow them to be re-set when redwood tree roots predictably pushed up the pavers ten years later. His team came out and made the walkway look like new again. Ted is so responsive, even years later when help is needed again. You will not be disappointed. read more

We chose Van Midde & Son Concrete to tear out and rebuild our front porch and driveway. There was lots of concrete to remove and they completed this task very quickly and without mess. I did take some photos of me with the large backhoe in the dirt, so that was a bonus. Ted and his crew involved us in the planning and execution of the driveway and walkway. We didn't necessarily have a plan, just a vision and it was executed perfectly. 10 days later, we had a lovely new driveway and bluestone walkway and front porch. We definitely recommend Van Midde & Son Concrete for any concrete projects. read more

After last October's bomb cyclone, we knew we needed work on our storm drainage system, likely untouched since the house was built 60 years ago. I called several firms for an assessment and estimates, and Ted was definitely the most experienced and knowledgeable about our house and situation. It really pays to go local. There was some delay in scheduling the job, but everyone in construction is extremely busy these days, and it was understandable. The job done is excellent, the crew was hardworking and efficient, and we are very pleased with the job. Will definitely work with van Middle & Son for all of our concrete needs. read more

Would highly recommend Ted and his team. We promptly got a quote, and Ted explained our options and the process and made some great suggestions. They were on time and on budget, and did a fantastic job with a stamped concrete patio and using old stone to create another patio. They really took pride in their work. Thanks! read more

Ted gave us a very competitive bid to pour 3 concrete pads for the benches at the Sausalito Dog Park. They arrived on time and when they said they would and the entire crew was very professional and courteous. The finish of the concrete was excellent and the grading around the pads blended beautifully into the surrounding area. Ted VanMidde and his crew exceeded all our expectations, we highly recommend them. The park is on the corner of Ebbtide and Bridgeway in Sausalito, and is open to the public, please come by and check out the quality of their work (and bring your dog!). read more

Jason Van Midde and his crew did an excellent job replacing the old combo concrete and railroad tie patchwork path, steps, gravel and dirt entry to our home in San Anselmo. Start to finish, he helped us see what was possible, supported our vision for what we wanted and created an absolutely outstanding entry to our home to our satisfaction. The team was big, the concrete complex and the design challenging but right down to the color of the concrete, every detail he took painstaking care to be sure we were delivered both what he promised and what we hoped for every step of the way. His crew was courteous, neat and detail oriented and would stop to ask if they were not clear about what was next or how we wanted it done. His communication skills are excellent and he knows when to exercise them. It was what I'd call a medium size job, though if you know Marin county, you understand that stairs can be critical for home access, here we require 40 stairs to get in the front door. Right down to creating cross walkway tunnels for irrigation and electrical work, it was all laid out and executed as expected on time within budget. As the walkway came together I realized we really needed to demo the driveway and piggyback onto the walkway to tie in the design out to the sidewalk. Talk about curb appeal, there's nothing like modern professionally created concrete to welcome us home. Thanks Jason, you're appreciated here! read more

When our 80 year old Connecticut Blue Stone patio needed to be repaired, our first thought was to replace it with stamped concrete to keep the price down while maintaining the Old World stone look. Ted Van Midde gave us some much needed design counsel, and in so doing became our defacto consulting hardscaper. We ultimately chose a dark gray sand-finished concrete patio with inlaid blue stone borders that would contrast nicely with our bordering stone walls. After the concrete pour the Van Midde team continued to support all of our project needs. They rebuilt a long section of our stone retaining wall, laid a stunning stone patio and majestic steps and even assembled 100 feet of railing that is now required by code. They saved us thousands of dollars in welding costs. Van Midde & Son Concrete takes great pride in their work, and clearly want their customers to be happy. We couldn't be happier! I requested a quote from this business via email and had them do a small job. Months later, their business was hacked and I started receiving phishing emails from company accounts. I called and was told in an annoyed tone to just ignore them, but months later the phishing emails continue, but I have not received any communication from the company explaining what happened, and if any of my personal account information was put at risk. This is unacceptable and the company needs to own up to what happened and contact all customers whose personal information was compromised. read more

We worked with Scott on our side patio project. We removed existing concrete, and replaced with colored concrete with a sand finish. The crew was always on time, and anytime we had a question, they went out of their way to show up how something would look. Their work was very clean, and the end result surpassed our expectations. We have contracted with Van Midde and Sons for two projects. The first involved a large project involving a curved stairway, landing, and additional stairs. We worked with Van Midde to replace the walkways around our condominium building with modern, attractive pavers framed by pebbled concrete. They demolished our rotting wooden walkways and the ancient, crumbling concrete sidewalks underneath. The new walkways started with new poured curbs, a bed of gravel/sand/concrete, and a carefully arranged pattern of pavers with a grout-like sand filler. Van Midde's team worked tirelessly in sections along the building and ensured that resident access was not unduly hindered at any time. Ted Van Midde kept a watchful eye on the project and engaged in proactive discussion about any needed quality tweaks or unexpected modifications along the way. The end result was truly top-notch. Even homeowners who were hesitant about the project have expressed extreme satisfaction at the quality of the results. Van Midde and team worked hard and cared about the quality of the results -- and it shows! read more

If you want professional, excellent, customer focused concrete work at a good price, then you should only hire Van Midde Concrete. I cannot say enough good things about their work at our home in Terra Linda. They completely re-graded our entire back yard, removing old patios, a deck, rocks, plants and about 6" of soil. In the process everything was done so carefully and cleanly I hardly knew they were there. My landscape architect designed a very challenging system of concrete rectangles of varying lengths, requiring extreme attention to detail and actual artistry from their forming team. They got it all laid out perfectly and when they had questions they consulted me and together we decided on what was best. And when I had a question they ALWAYS responded quickly and in a few occasions proactively called me to ask what I wanted or to discuss next steps. I can be a very fussy customer but their team could not have been more friendly, patient and professional. And the price of their work was right in my budget, which was a relief! In short, they are my go-to guys for my next project and they should be yours. read more

We had a wonderful experience with Van Middle and his teams. For two projects, we had two different teams come out from Van Middle and they were polite, did an incredible job cleaning up EVERY DAY when they finished and the workmanship is exceptional.
