We loved working with DECKMASTERS! What an awesome team. They show up! They call back! Their pricing is reasonable! And they actually do legit work that is up to code! This review is a bit overdue. I called Deckmasters early in the year to replace a broken and rotting cement step that led into my dwelling. I ended up getting a great deck that enhanced the look of my home and made a spot for me to enjoy morning coffee and BBQs. I had them come back soon after for a fence project I had with hogwire. I drew the design I was thinking of and they executed it for me! I am very happy with it and how it turned out. Late last year I moved into a house that had a beautiful but aged deck and porch. I wanted to make sure that it was restored to it's full glory. Michael was a bit quiet at first, but overall a knowledgeable and organized person. If you ask him questions, he's great at explaining. He was quick to come out, give a quote, and even explained what went into the costs. He made additional suggestions, but nothing pushy. I found all his suggestions helpful. My favorite part of the project was the porch gate addition. I asked if he could build and install a porch gate that could handle my 55lb dog. He came back with a design that matched the existing railing and looked original to the porch. We found this service through Yelp, so we weren't quite sure how the service would be. We were quite thrilled when it turned out just like all the other great reviews claimed. The work was done promptly and efficiently. The crew came on time and kept the dust and other work debris to a minimum. Michael is very knowledgeable and he made suggestions to make the entire porch and decks looks even better. We were really glad we took his suggestions. We have a 850 sq. ft. redwood deck that is 30 years old. Although I have tried to maintain it, the years with direct sun exposure took its toll. We also have a two landing front porch that needed some dry rot repair. I called 5 companies who claimed to do deck repair/rebuilds. Only two responded, (the others never even bothered to return my calls and emails), and came out for an estimate followed by a bid. Decks by Woodmasters was the most thorough in inspecting for damage and came in $2,200 below the other company. But it was Woodmasters reviews that sold me. My experience was exceptional and consistent with the other 5 star ratings. Jim Parks was the job foreman and was outstanding in explaining everything and managing the project. The crew showed up when promised and came every day until the project was done. Their speed and craftsmanship were top notch. Jim and crew took pride in the project as if it were their own home! Lots of extras done at no extra charge such as replacing the entire front porch with redwood, (it was pine except the steps). If you need deck or any wood structure refinished and/or rebuilt this is the only company to pick. And...thank you YELP for helping me find them. I had a really good experience working with Michael (and his crew, led by Adolfo) on some major repairs and improvements to my deck. I obtained estimates from a few contractors before choosing Michael. Michael's estimate was the most responsive to my needs, which included ensuring durability and safety on my deck while controlling cost. Michael was able to save most of the decking and framing on my deck, which substantially reduced the cost. I wanted to get started quickly, because my old deck felt unsafe and I was hoping to have visitors soon. Michael was able to slot me in before another job, but this also meant that he had to work from some "default" assumptions about what I wanted to get started and finish on time. Because of this there were a few extra charges, totalling about 5% of the job cost. These were for adding a hand railing, extending the size of a concrete landing, and affixing some planters to the deck. As another reviewer said, the crew showed up on time, when they said they would, and finished the job on schedule. Yay! As a client, I'm pretty communicative about any challenges I see. Because of this, I was able to work with Michael to ensure that the site was cleaned up after the job, and some odds and ends were properly taken care of. He worked with us to give us the best quality product we could afford on our budget. We felt that this company really puts a lot of quality into their work - paying attention to small details and finishes that ensure the deck will last for a very long time. They inspect their work frequently and they rebuilt one thing they had installed (with no prompting from us) because it didn't meet their high quality standards. The team was dedicated to our job (not running between jobs) and was very dependable and professional. They got the job done very efficiently in spite of some bad weather in the middle. I can't say enough good things about Michael and his team. I called this last week regarding possibly needing our entire back deck replaced. I had been told this needed to happen by several contractors but I wanted a deck expert to confirm this. To my delight, Michael urged me NOT to replace my deck but rather, allow him and his team to repair the rot, add more support underneath the structure, secure the railings, and sand and finish our existing wood. This option was much less money for him as it saved me thousands of dollars by not having to buy all new materials and start from scratch. Needless to say, I hired him immediately and he and his team finished in a day and a half, despite temperatures being near 100 degrees.
