Great breakfast sandwich. Got the special. Tons of sauce and a super fresh biscuit. They also had a salsa that added a great flavor and spice. (Went to another location and they were super confused when I asked for the salsa? Might be only this spot) Fun little bookstore inside too
There are few combinations which go well with food like peanut butter and jelly, chicken and waffles, and french fries and ketchup. Then there are some interesting collaborations in the fast food world like a KFC and Taco Bell restaurants or the Baskin Robins and Dunkin Donuts shop. A collaboration which goes perfect in my book is a cafe and a bookstore like the late Tanforan location of Barnes and Noble and Starbucks with The Cheesecake Factory pastries . There is one collaboration which is organic and native to San Francisco. These combination are the best of the best in San Francisco in their category of business. It's located in the Embarcadero Center at Embarcadero 1 and it's Devils Teeth / Green Apple Bookstore. In an Embarcadero stroll I landed at Embarcadero 1 at Devils Teeth. I have tried the other two Devils Teeth stores in the Outer Richmond and the other at the Sunset Strip of San Francisco and they are legit. This store really is my favorite one now because they added my favorite bookstore Green Apple. Inside they serve the coffee and breakfast sandwiches along their known flakey pastries like some in SF. I got the breakfast sandwich from other bacon and egg on a biscuit . This combination of savory and buttery was my jam. I then I washed it down with an ice mocha which was not too sweet and the combination hit the spot. The Green Apple bookstore inside has a very good curated collection which has the right amount of books about food and the human experience. This is definitely the spot everyday of the week for breakfast and lunch . Go on a Sunday because they have $1 beignets because you cannot get anything good in San Francisco for $1 these days. San Francisco is the place to get great combinations and independent collaborations like The Mill on "Divisadero" with Josef Baker Bread and coffee from "Four Barrel" in San Francisco the city has lots of one way streets so follow the one direction "arrow"especially around the Financial District in the "Embarcadero " Go to the Embarcadero in San Francisco and become a "food crawler"the have many cafes and restaurants no matter if you are white or blue "collar"and grab a pastry and a coffee and read a book inside Devils Teeth and Green Apple and become a food "scholar"then go on a Sunday because they have beignets for "one dollar"
Great breakfast sandwich spot that is hearty and filling. I shared the sandwich with my friend as it is a big sandwich and it's perfect for two people to eat. The sandwich was more on the garlic side but I really liked the sauce they put in the sandwich itself. It's nice they use a biscuit as the bread because I like a good biscuit it for breakfast. The avocado gives it a nice touch to mellow out the sauce and eggs.
Massive and delicious breakfast sandwich. Super filling and satisfying we ended up splitting it and using their house salsa. The salsa itself was not spicy to us but added good flavor. It's counter service and they have a cute small bookstore inside to peruse while you wait for your food. The line to order gets long here so come prepared. We took our sando around the corner to enjoy at the Embarcadero plaza in the sun overlooking the ferry building while people watching.
Small location right in One Embarcadero. I stopped by on my way back to work after an appointment to get some sweets. I opted for a chocolate chip cookie and a strawberry banana muffin. Hubby enjoyed the chocolate chip cookie but said not the best he's had. I ate my muffin the next day for breakfast and it was pretty good. It was still moist with just the right amount of denseness. Minus one star due to gnats flying around the baked goods which normally would result in me walking right back out without buying anything, but I wanted to give this place a try.
Love this branch of Devil's Teeth. They have the most delicious breakfast sandwiches and yummy treats like a donut muffin. And on Sundays they have beignets for $1 each. They also have a variety of lunchtime sandwiches like a tuna melt, and grilled cheese and soup combo. Only one complaint: when there's a long line for food, people should be able to go straight to the cashier to buy books at the adjoining bookstore. I skipped my book purchase because I had already waited in the line once to order my food.
The pictures I took just don't do it justice. This was a hearty, massive breakfast sandwich and super filling and super tasty! I've been wanting to check this spot out for quite a while now and so glad that I did. I love that the inside of the building is connected to a tiny bookstore. It makes the ambience that much better.
I've had the breakfast sandwich here and the beignets. The Richmond location is always packed but has a nice outdoor patio and this location is cute and clean with a bookstore while you wait. The staff are friendly and helpful. Everyone says this is the best breakfast sandwich in SF and it was good, but it's not my favorite. It's quite large and messy, making it hard to eat and when I had it the biscuits were a little dry. I tried the normal beignets and special strawberry ones for Valentine's Day. They're hot and fresh and well priced, I'm not an expert in beignets but I know people say they're light and pillowy. These are more dense but the flavor is good! Overall a big fan of this business, I just gravitate to the less famous menu items.
The infamous breakfast sandwich spot. This location is a little trickier to find parking since it's in a more central location of SF. I think I prefer the other location more. I placed an order online along with my 2 other friends. I drove us there and they went to pick up our order while I wait in the car. Luckily, it was super fast. The special breakfast is $14 and packed with flavor. The fluffy egg, crispy bacon, avocado, and sauce inside a warm fluffy and light biscuit. Appreciate the consistency to their other location.
Devil's Teeth, named for the Farallon Islands and the book that charts their raw mythos, lives up to its name... sharp, elemental, and unforgettable. I walked in at 9:30 on a Saturday. No line. Fifteen minutes later, the place had a full-blown following behind me. Timing is a kind of knowing. I asked for sourdough instead of biscuit. A quiet recalibration. The sandwich was everything. My partner's three eggs with add-ons disappeared like a decision already made. The books on the shelf were serious. No fluff. Cookbooks with backbone. Essays with heat. A place that understands hunger on multiple levels. And the hot sauce? It preached.
I've been wanting to try Devils Teeth for a while, ordered the regular breakfast sandwich with no cheese. It was so tasty! The biscuit was light and fluffy, generous with the egg portion, and bacon wasn't super salty. Their house made hot sauce also added a nice touch
Wednesday, May 14, 2025 11am: After wandering the Embarcadero Center mall of doom I came upon Devil's Teeth. Wow, $6 Avocado Toast! Threw in some bacon for $2. Such a deal. 4 stars for the friendly, fast service. No seating here, but an awesome bookstore inside. My favorite book was Serial Killer Guide to San Francisco. Anyway, the avocado chunks were generous. I liked the crispy bacon. Minus 1 star because the 'toast' was actually a sandwich. For the uninitiated, avocado toast is an open face item. And the bread is Toasted, hence the name. Sigh. As Devils Teeth is strictly take-out, I recommend climbing 1 flight of stairs to the elevated walkway which had lots of tables & chairs. Great start to the day.
My friend and I decided to check out Devil's Teeth for lunch during the week. They don't have seating inside but it is pretty spacious with a section where they have a collab with Green Apple Books. We ordered with the cashier and it came out pretty quickly around 10 minutes for our sandwiches. Regular Breakfast Sandwich - The biscuit was the star of the sandwich, homemade, fluffy, buttery and had a little bit of sweetness. The bacon and cheese came through a bit with the saltiness but the majority was the egg which had a nice texture but needed a bit more seasoning. The salsa on the side was not too spicy, a more mild flavor that added more depth to it. It does become very filling and heavy. It was a signature breakfast sandwich in San Francisco that is worth checking out.
A treat for downtown, this is making me want to go into the office! Came here and got the special breakfast sandwich and 2 lemon bars for my friend--he requested them, but I had 1 lol. The special breakfast sandwich was as good as the one I had in the Sunset! It was cheesy and filling and the biscuit was buttery, warm, and perfect. First time here! I went on a Sunday at around 1, no line. I ordered the Special Sandwich. Visually, the sandwich is small but it's surprisingly filling. I liked the flakiness of the biscuits. I wish there was more flavor from the aioli. The service was prompt and there's some seating inside. Yummy flavors, would go again! read more

TL;DR Title: Amazing Sandwiches by the Beach + $1 Beignets Review: This spot is seriously one of my favorites--it's my second time here, and it never disappoints! The Food: * Their special edition sandwich is my go-to. I don't eat pork, but they're super accommodating and put the bacon on the side in foil so my boyfriend can have it. 10/10 for flexibility. * The lemon garlic aioli in the sandwich? Absolute perfection. Tangy, garlicky, and ties everything together beautifully. * Sandwiches come out super fast, which is perfect when you're starving. The $1 Beignets: * I'm not a big beignet fan, but for $1, you can't go wrong. My boyfriend loved them--light, crispy, and the perfect amount of sweetness. The Vibes: * Location is chef's kiss--literally next to the beach. First time we came, we walked to the beach with our sandwiches, and I can't recommend that enough. * There's outdoor seating, which is great since there's not much space inside, but honestly, it adds to the charm. Excited to see a restaurant take over the old Melt venue so quickly. Hearing the praise from my friends in the Avenues, was really stoked to give them a try. While the breakfast sandwiches are excellent, their lunch items are a bit of a mixed bag. Their pastries are all delish though. Tuna Melt: I naively thought their reputation for breakfast sandwiches would translate to lunch sandwiches, but I was wrong. It kinda reminded me of something you'd find in a generic corporate cafeteria. It was more warmed a little rather than toasted/grilled like most tuna melts. No noticeable browned marks anywhere. The tuna salad that they were hyping up kinda just tasted like mayo and little bits of onion. Such a let down. Grilled Cheese: Ok, this was better than the tuna melt. The bread was nice and toasted, like a grilled cheese should be. Got to really appreciate the thick cut of sourdough that had both crispy outsides and fluffy insides. Nice amount of flowing cheese too. Tasted great with the tomato soup. Tomato Soup: A classic pairing for grilled cheese. This had a little extra with some cream, to make it smoother. And some nice herbs too. Special Breakfast Sandwich: While the lunch items were a mixed experienced, the breakfast sandwich was definitely worth the hype! Thick buttermilk biscuit that is a sturdy vehicle for all those eggs. The lemon-garlic aioli and pepperjack cheese add just the right amount of moisture to the biscuit. The bacon is awesome, because it's bacon. Also nice crispy texture to contrast the fluffy eggs. And some avocado, because why not? All the tastes and textures were great together. Carrot Cake: Was digging this cake though. It had lots of rich cream on top. The cake was moist, spiced and had visible shreds of carrots. Quite comforting. Brownie: An extremely rich and gooey brownie, even at room temperature. Very chocolatey. Much more filling that the carrot cakes. Goes really well with coffee. Cinnamon Roll: One of the better cinnamon rolls I've had. No frosting, but there is tons of gooey cinnamon sugar on top, in the middle and below. Really love how the layers are super thin so there are so many different circles wrapped around the middle. And, besides the outer edges, it's really tender. My favorite sweet item by far. read more
Was walking home and remembered that there is a pop-up for the Vacant to Vibrant program with Devil's Teeth. Surprised there wasn't a huge line around lunchtime and decided to try the hyped breakfast sandwich. I subbed bacon for sausage and would say it's a big hearty mess lol. There are no seats so you could walk over to another Embarcadero center and sit on a bench or table. Had nice eggy and lemon aioli flavor but I personally missed hot sauce. Bacon would have also probs added a dimension of saltiness that I feel like the sausage didn't have. read more

My biggest problem with Devils Teeth has always been how far it was away from me! Now they opened up this one in the embarcadero, and all bets are off. The hype has been built through the other locations and there's good reason for that. The talk is all about the breakfast sandwich. Yes, it's incredible. It's a mess. It really needs a fork and a knife. The question is If it can qualify as an actual breakfast sandwich given the inconvenience of its nature. Some would say a true breakfast sandwich has to maintain its form. Assuming we call this a breakfast sandwich then it's hard to beat. The other bakery items are high level. On Sunday's they do beignets for $1 each which is just absurd. The cookie was okay, and the cruffin thing was quite impressive. I'm here to confirm devils teeth is the real deal. Get to the closest one near you asap. (4.7 Stars) It has come to my attention that this might be my 100th review. My goodness I eat a lot. See you at 1000. read more

The Special Breakfast Sandwich is of the best breakfast sandwiches I have ever tasted! The biscuit was so moist and buttery. They give you a generous amount of avocado and cheese inside too. It's very filling so worth the price. Takes around 10 min to get your sandwich after you order so not too much of a wait, but lines can get long so be prepared! It's a grab and go type place, so no seating inside, but there are a ton of parks (and the Ferry Plaza) nearby if you want to have a little picnic outside with your sandwich :) I need to go back for their $1 beignet Sundays!! read more
This place is so cute! Tucked away on the sidewalk in a large building. When you walk in you can tell it's chill and friendly. They have other housemade bakery items, and bottled juices as well. I got a coffee, yum! A green juice from the fridge which was good, and their very popular breakfast biscuit sandwich. I got the basic one, no bacon-sub sausage patty, add aioli. So tasty. The biscuit was soft but a little crispy on the outside, and the egg!! So creamy. Definitely want to stop by a location again for that sandwich. read more

I love Devils Teeth, but not this location. There's zero seating (not that the OG location has a lot, but at least there's some). If you go inside the mall area there is seating, but no tables and their sandwiches are unwieldy to walk with and eat. Food wise-the other location also seems better to me. We had the breakfast sandwich and a scone, both were good but a little drier than the other location. read more

Service and friendliness 10/10. Cinnamon roll and biscuit sandwich worth the hype? Absolutely!!! Super stoked to have stepped into this specific location and be met with some friendliness and recommendations when it came to what to order. Definitely get the biscuit breakfast sandwich and ask for the hot sauce. The hot sauce brings it to a whole new level. The cinnamon roll must be toasted so the sugar caramelizes. I had really high hopes for this place! I've seen so many great reviews and vids ab it but was disappointed. Each element of the sandwich was decent but as a whole it fell flat. The sandwich was very wet. So wet that it fell apart after the first bite. And I even got the sauce on the side (per other people's recommendation). I really wanted to love it but it was just too much going on at once. The biscuit was delicious but almost too sweet to be paired with the bacon and egg? Avocado didn't do anything but add more wetness/weight to the sandwich and there was sooooo much egg. The staff was nice and the food turned out fast. But there was no seating so we sat on some steps near the restaurant. me and my bestie also had severe tummy issues afterwards :( Maybe we just hit on a bad day?! read more

really wanted to like this place, since this area needs more breakfast places, especially those open on the weekends. First time I tried the breakfast sandwich it was just OK, but decided to give it another try. Today the sandwich biscuit was totally burnt, imo no excuses for seeing this and still wrapping it up and selling it. Will not go back. read more

Hopefully just went on a bad day, the coffee was good. But the tuna melt was... less tuna no melt and just lettuce. For 12 bucks I'd expect something more that resembles a melt, didn't have the cheese even. read more

I got the special breakfast sandwich and I think my blood became 25% more viscous after eating it. Aka it was SO heavy. I don't mind a lot of carbs, but the bread was so dense and it just kinda mushed together with all the ingredients. There was zero lightness to the sandwich or refreshing factor. I didn't even finish it unfortunately. The salsa it came with also didn't add too much to the experience for me. Overall, it wasn't a bad sandwich and I enjoyed it the first few bites, but ultimately I didn't like how it made me feel. 3.5/5 Aside from the food though, service was easy and relatively fast. read more

I was surprised by how good the pastries were here. I got a cookie and the ube cake. The cookie was good but the ube cake was definitely my favorite. It had a very delicate ube flavor and soft, little spongey texture. The coffee was ok but loved the pastries read more

My friend got this to go and we brought it to the beach to eat. It was an easy food to take on the go but it can get a little messy so make sure to have napkins on hand. It would have probably been better fresh and hot but the sandwich still tasted good. The texture was a bit squishy and the biscuit got soggy since it was to go. read more

The beignets are perfectly fluffy and melt in your mouth in a cloud of powdered sugar. We also enjoyed their special breakfast sando- the biscuit was buttery, and had just the right ratio of avocado to egg with a creamy aoli sauce. Dont sleep on the cinnamon roll- ooey gooey soft sweet layers that leave you craving more. read more

I decided to give this place another try. I'm allergic to avocado so I got the special with no avocado. I took a few bites and wondered why my throat felt funny until I opened the sandwich and realize there was indeed avocado in it. I also forgot it cost $13 for this sandwich. read more

My friend works near this Devil's Teeth Bakery temporary location in Embarcadero One and has been frequenting it. It shares a storefront with Green Apple Books, a San Francisco bookstore institution located on Clement St. This temporary location is one of nine businesses that opened in downtown San Francisco through a city program called Vacant to Vibrant, where City financial assistance grants are given to businesses to take over vacant store fronts to revitalize the area and promote economic recovery. I just heard on the news that they will extend their leases until at least March. My friend got me the Regular Breakfast Sandwich. It consists of two scrambled eggs, bacon and cheddar cheese on a buttermilk biscuit. This was a hefty breakfast sandwich and it was delicious. You can taste the quality of the sandwich. No fast food breakfast sandwich here. Hope to be able to check out the restaurant soon and check out their other offerings maybe try the Special Breakfast Sandwich. read more
