Great breakfast sandwich. Got the special. Tons of sauce and a super fresh biscuit. They also had a salsa that added a great flavor and spice. (Went to another location and they were super confused when I asked for the salsa? Might be only this spot) Fun little bookstore inside too
There are few combinations which go well with food like peanut butter and jelly, chicken and waffles, and french fries and ketchup. Then there are some interesting collaborations in the fast food world like a KFC and Taco Bell restaurants or the Baskin Robins and Dunkin Donuts shop. A collaboration which goes perfect in my book is a cafe and a bookstore like the late Tanforan location of Barnes and Noble and Starbucks with The Cheesecake Factory pastries . There is one collaboration which is organic and native to San Francisco. These combination are the best of the best in San Francisco in their category of business. It's located in the Embarcadero Center at Embarcadero 1 and it's Devils Teeth / Green Apple Bookstore. In an Embarcadero stroll I landed at Embarcadero 1 at Devils Teeth. I have tried the other two Devils Teeth stores in the Outer Richmond and the other at the Sunset Strip of San Francisco and they are legit. This store really is my favorite one now because they added my favorite bookstore Green Apple. Inside they serve the coffee and breakfast sandwiches along their known flakey pastries like some in SF. I got the breakfast sandwich from other bacon and egg on a biscuit . This combination of savory and buttery was my jam. I then I washed it down with an ice mocha which was not too sweet and the combination hit the spot. The Green Apple bookstore inside has a very good curated collection which has the right amount of books about food and the human experience. This is definitely the spot everyday of the week for breakfast and lunch . Go on a Sunday because they have $1 beignets because you cannot get anything good in San Francisco for $1 these days. San Francisco is the place to get great combinations and independent collaborations like The Mill on "Divisadero" with Josef Baker Bread and coffee from "Four Barrel" in San Francisco the city has lots of one way streets so follow the one direction "arrow"especially around the Financial District in the "Embarcadero " Go to the Embarcadero in San Francisco and become a "food crawler"the have many cafes and restaurants no matter if you are white or blue "collar"and grab a pastry and a coffee and read a book inside Devils Teeth and Green Apple and become a food "scholar"then go on a Sunday because they have beignets for "one dollar"
Great breakfast sandwich spot that is hearty and filling. I shared the sandwich with my friend as it is a big sandwich and it's perfect for two people to eat. The sandwich was more on the garlic side but I really liked the sauce they put in the sandwich itself. It's nice they use a biscuit as the bread because I like a good biscuit it for breakfast. The avocado gives it a nice touch to mellow out the sauce and eggs.
Massive and delicious breakfast sandwich. Super filling and satisfying we ended up splitting it and using their house salsa. The salsa itself was not spicy to us but added good flavor. It's counter service and they have a cute small bookstore inside to peruse while you wait for your food. The line to order gets long here so come prepared. We took our sando around the corner to enjoy at the Embarcadero plaza in the sun overlooking the ferry building while people watching.
Small location right in One Embarcadero. I stopped by on my way back to work after an appointment to get some sweets. I opted for a chocolate chip cookie and a strawberry banana muffin. Hubby enjoyed the chocolate chip cookie but said not the best he's had. I ate my muffin the next day for breakfast and it was pretty good. It was still moist with just the right amount of denseness. Minus one star due to gnats flying around the baked goods which normally would result in me walking right back out without buying anything, but I wanted to give this place a try.
Love this branch of Devil's Teeth. They have the most delicious breakfast sandwiches and yummy treats like a donut muffin. And on Sundays they have beignets for $1 each. They also have a variety of lunchtime sandwiches like a tuna melt, and grilled cheese and soup combo. Only one complaint: when there's a long line for food, people should be able to go straight to the cashier to buy books at the adjoining bookstore. I skipped my book purchase because I had already waited in the line once to order my food.
The pictures I took just don't do it justice. This was a hearty, massive breakfast sandwich and super filling and super tasty! I've been wanting to check this spot out for quite a while now and so glad that I did. I love that the inside of the building is connected to a tiny bookstore. It makes the ambience that much better.
I've had the breakfast sandwich here and the beignets. The Richmond location is always packed but has a nice outdoor patio and this location is cute and clean with a bookstore while you wait. The staff are friendly and helpful. Everyone says this is the best breakfast sandwich in SF and it was good, but it's not my favorite. It's quite large and messy, making it hard to eat and when I had it the biscuits were a little dry. I tried the normal beignets and special strawberry ones for Valentine's Day. They're hot and fresh and well priced, I'm not an expert in beignets but I know people say they're light and pillowy. These are more dense but the flavor is good! Overall a big fan of this business, I just gravitate to the less famous menu items.
The infamous breakfast sandwich spot. This location is a little trickier to find parking since it's in a more central location of SF. I think I prefer the other location more. I placed an order online along with my 2 other friends. I drove us there and they went to pick up our order while I wait in the car. Luckily, it was super fast. The special breakfast is $14 and packed with flavor. The fluffy egg, crispy bacon, avocado, and sauce inside a warm fluffy and light biscuit. Appreciate the consistency to their other location.
Devil's Teeth, named for the Farallon Islands and the book that charts their raw mythos, lives up to its name... sharp, elemental, and unforgettable. I walked in at 9:30 on a Saturday. No line. Fifteen minutes later, the place had a full-blown following behind me. Timing is a kind of knowing. I asked for sourdough instead of biscuit. A quiet recalibration. The sandwich was everything. My partner's three eggs with add-ons disappeared like a decision already made. The books on the shelf were serious. No fluff. Cookbooks with backbone. Essays with heat. A place that understands hunger on multiple levels. And the hot sauce? It preached.
I've been wanting to try Devils Teeth for a while, ordered the regular breakfast sandwich with no cheese. It was so tasty! The biscuit was light and fluffy, generous with the egg portion, and bacon wasn't super salty. Their house made hot sauce also added a nice touch
Wednesday, May 14, 2025 11am: After wandering the Embarcadero Center mall of doom I came upon Devil's Teeth. Wow, $6 Avocado Toast! Threw in some bacon for $2. Such a deal. 4 stars for the friendly, fast service. No seating here, but an awesome bookstore inside. My favorite book was Serial Killer Guide to San Francisco. Anyway, the avocado chunks were generous. I liked the crispy bacon. Minus 1 star because the 'toast' was actually a sandwich. For the uninitiated, avocado toast is an open face item. And the bread is Toasted, hence the name. Sigh. As Devils Teeth is strictly take-out, I recommend climbing 1 flight of stairs to the elevated walkway which had lots of tables & chairs. Great start to the day.
My friend and I decided to check out Devil's Teeth for lunch during the week. They don't have seating inside but it is pretty spacious with a section where they have a collab with Green Apple Books. We ordered with the cashier and it came out pretty quickly around 10 minutes for our sandwiches. Regular Breakfast Sandwich - The biscuit was the star of the sandwich, homemade, fluffy, buttery and had a little bit of sweetness. The bacon and cheese came through a bit with the saltiness but the majority was the egg which had a nice texture but needed a bit more seasoning. The salsa on the side was not too spicy, a more mild flavor that added more depth to it. It does become very filling and heavy. It was a signature breakfast sandwich in San Francisco that is worth checking out.
The biscuits are delicious and ready to serve. In my search for the perfect biscuit breakfast sandwich in SF this location serves a very good one. I know they have other locations but so far so good. I'll have to check out the others BB read more
I stopped in on a Saturday morning, and was able to order and get my food within 5 minutes. I got the special breakfast sandwich and it was amazing, I'll definitely be getting it again! The biscuit was the best part - it was super buttery and melts in your mouth. The only thing missing was a little bit of hot sauce or something to give it a kick. Overall, this is a great spot and definitely one of the better breakfast sandwiches I've had in SF! read more

My go-to breakfast spot in the city. The most consistent place yet. The specialty breakfast sandwich never fails to satisfy all my wants in a breakfast sandwich. You can taste all the quality ingredients, the fresh avocado, the lemon garlic aioli. The biscuit is always soft, never too hard or dry. May get messy, but only because of the loadedness of the contents of the sandwich. Been to two locations and the service is always friendly and quick. Perfect for the morning after a night out pick-me-up read more

This is a decent option for a breakfast sandwich. The biscuit was flaky and fresh, and the eggs tasted freshly prepared. However, despite having a special sauce, the sandwich was somewhat bland. It was also very messy and difficult to eat. While not my favorite spot in the city, it remains a solid choice for a quick breakfast. read more

The store has a little bookstore on the inside and is super small with no seats. We tried the Special Breakfast Sandwich and the biscuit was buttery and a good "flakey." It pairs well with their salsa, but I think they should offer gravy. Biscuits and gravy are the best! There were about 3 workers during a Friday morning, nothing crazy with the service. It's a grab and go spot. The parking here is so difficult, I recommend walking or using public transport to get here. If you do drive, be prepared to be in traffic and pay for parking. I think if you park in the parking garage, you can validate it? ig: @cravingswithcat read more

Devil's Teeth did a great job transferring their bakery downtown, and I'm thankful for that because making it to the Outer Sunset is rarely in the cards for me. It's a production bakery coffee shop-style vibe with decent price-to-value for an urban center. They have a large customer base, but the line moves quickly, the service is friendly, and the product comes out quickly. There are many pre-made pastries and treats, and a few savory options if you want to grab a coffee and something immediately (cold brew and a scone, for example). It gets a little snug, however, there is just enough room for folks to maintain personal space while waiting for a made-to-order coffee or food item. No parking on the street. Skip the sausage - the upcharge for it isn't worth it. The sourdough is good. The biscuit is better--Flakey and crunchy but soft and layered. Sunset coffee roasters. Expect to spend about $20 for a filling breakfast and coffee. read more
Biscuits will never be the same again. I ordered the special breakfast sandwhich and it was the best decision I made. The biscuit itself is something spectacular but then they add fluffy cooked to perfection eggs, melted cheese, a creamy lemon aioli, and a scoop of avocado, lets not forget the yummy bacon, and just like that you have the performance offt breakfast sandwich. I paired th sandwich with a organic passionfruit and orange juice which was delicious. Friendly staff made it easy to order. Inside you'll find small book shop with various knickknacks and some company merch, I gladly purchased a shirt. 100/10 definitely recommend if you get the chance to visit SF. read more
Breakfast sandwiches are the bomb here. And the special breakfast sandwich at that. It's crispy biscuits with amazing sauce, avocado, egg, bacon, oh goodness. Each bite is pure bliss. Enough said. Anyway, now that we all know to get the special breakfast sandwich, let's talk pastries. We took a bite out of the lemon bar and brownie before taking a picture, goes to show how good they are huh? Enough said otherwise, good breakfast spot if you work nearby or just happen to be nearby. read more

Since I started working in the financial district I've been looking for restaurants that are open early and close enough for me to walk to on my 15 minute break. I decided to try this place based on the pictures I saw on yelp and I love it! On my first outing I ordered the special breakfast sandwich without eggs and avocado, and with greens. I was absolutely delicious. The buttermilk biscuit that they make is soft and buttery. The second time I went I ordered the special breakfast sandwich again (no eggs/avocado, add greens) but on sourdough bread and it was just as tasty! I will say, this place is not cheap so expect to spend at least $15 for their sandwiches and possibly more if you order a beverage too. I take my break around 10:30-10:45 and when normally all of the pastries in the display case are almost all gone so if you want a sweet treat I'd get here sooner. read more

The sandwich was good but the biscuit was a little dry. I'd rate the sandwich a 3.5/5 but the service 2/5 because the cashier was rude. They didn't greet me then offered a half smile when I said hi. I asked 2 questions and they seemed annoyed and gave me very short answers . Been wanting to try this place but the service really took away from the experience. read more
It's been many years since I've eaten their food. To the point, I looked back to learn that I never reviewed their original Sunset District location. After trying a new lunch place a couple of blocks away, I remembered hearing from friends about this 'pop-up' location. I entered from the Battery Street entrance of Embarcadero One and found that it is located on Sacramento Street in the space formerly occupied by Melt, the cheese sandwich place. Walking in, the counter is only a few steps in with the drinks board above and the pastry display case (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=NvqgKv5ZZVigeH9Bg-1YJQ) running across from right to left. After a quick glance, I bought three items to go. I started with the chocolate chocolate chip walnut cookie (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=Kmc2X3tvsy-WkMCexm1aOQ); it was not overly sweet and had a nice mix of nuts and chocolate chips, perfect for tea and coffee drinkers as a pairing. A few days later, I tried the lemon bar (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=RbHmHuOAbDfmU57hWy9JKg) and really enjoyed this; perhaps it is because it's been a while since I've had it but this was also well balanced between the slight tang from the lemon, the sweetness from the sugar, and the rich butter flavor of the crust. I will get this again. The surprise item was a gifted item for my friend that she returned to me. The zucchini fig bread (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=2xjTSXHhsAGZDjhSHqlabQ) sounded like a tasty yet healthy menu choice but my friend had too many other sweets at that time. This reminded me of a carrot cake, a combination of a vegetable-based cake or bread with the sweet fruit essence of the figs. Even after a few days, the bread remained moist and soft. The gal who took and packed my order was patient and nice while one of the guys in back brough a light spirit to my experience with jokes and funny comments. My friend recommended that I try their staple item, one of their breakfast sandwiches next time. It was tempting as I saw it on the menu board but, having just eaten lunch, I passed on this visit. Will return and, now knowing that they are on Sacramento Street, I'll be able to walk a straight line there. read more

Lemon Bar: This was definitely up there as one of the best lemon bars I have had. It is a great balance of tart and sweet without going too far in either direction. Additionally, if you like corner pieces the corners on these are nice a chewy which I thought was great. If you do want a specific piece they are super nice about grabbing it for you. Cinnamon Roll: Personally, I did not think this was very good. It was served in the box with a sizeable pool of butter I ended up pouring out. They also make them without cream cheese, which results in them being purely sweet with no balance. Lastly, it is worth noting that they serve them extremely hot. The ends of the fork in the picture curled up from the heat of the inside after sitting in the cinnamon roll for a bit. Overall, I thought Devil's Teeth was ok when factoring in the varying quality of different items. Service wise, the people are very nice and helpful. The seating and small book selection inside are also nice touches. I would definitely go back for the lemon bars! read more

What I ordered: ** 8.5/10: Special Breakfast Sandwich - $14, $1 extra due to egg shortage :') - truly one of the best breakfast sandos i've ever had, as someone that usually doesn't like them!! - biscuit is fresh, soft, and buttery - i was not a fan of the hot sauce.. it tastes a bit odd and didn't contribute much flavor or spice - aioli was delicious! helps to balance out some of the heaviness, but a dash of Tabasco would be perfect - may be $14 but this thing was huge Devil's Teeth Baking is a cute breakfast stop and book store all in one. I ordered at the counter and browsed around while waiting for my sandwich. The cashier was warm and welcoming for 7AM on a Tuesday. Street parking is available, but it can be pricy and hard to find. This is truly one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had! There are a ton of pastries that I'd love to try during my next visit. Highly recommend trying if you're ever in the city!! Food: 8.5/10 Service: 10/10 Total: 9/10 read more

I had this place on my list after seeing several other reviews highlighted here and on social media. We did go for the $1 beignets on Sundays, and they were piping hot and had lots of powdered sugar! If you are craving beignets, this spot earns top marks for price, convenience, and freshness! I was excited to try their sandwiches and while all the components were good, it ended up being a bit dry all together. The biscuits were fresh and hot and flaky, but there wasn't enough aoili to prevent each bite from feeling dry in my mouth. The Sandwiches were fresh and hot and came with homemade hot sauce that we agreed we were using just to add some more moisture to the sandwich. We didn't need the flavor, but we needed the sauce, if that makes sense. This place was fairly busy and we hung around looking at different books they have for sale. Really cool vibes, but without seating, it felt like we couldn't stay and peruse once our food was ready. My partner's latte was not his favorite and he wouldn't order coffee from here again. I don't drink coffee, so I can't say. So overall cute, small shop that makes food fresh to order. I'd come back with friends in town who want some beignets! But overall, this spot didn't displace my current favorite breakfast sandwich place. read more
Didn't know this location existed until Yelp popped it up as in my area. And I'm happy it did because the line here at this location was not as crazy as the sunset locations!! Sundays = Beignets. The beignets are soooo good. I'd eat 10 of them in one sitting if I didn't have my sub conscious judging me for it. I do feel like they were stingy with the lemon aioli sauce with their special breakfast sando. But it's ok. It still hit. Location has tricky parking near Embarcadero, and inside is a bookstore!! Neat-o. Read some books while waiting for food! read more

First time trying out their location in FiDi and it's solid. The biscuits are just as good as I remember and the sandwich stayed tightly wrapped and hot enough for me to enjoy at a location that was about a 10-min walk away. No indoor or outdoor seating at this spot FYI. Special Breakfast Sandwich with homemade hot sauce cured my life! They do not skimp out on the avocado, that's for sure. Very good service and cute space, currently shared with a book store. read more
Now that Devil's Teeth has opened a convenient location in the Embarcadero Center, I finally got around to try their famous breakfast sandwich. I visited on a Sunday morning and did not experience a wait to place my order. The menu is simple and straightforward - the breakfast sandwich is the main star of the lineup, accompanied by an assortment of breads and pastries. I ordered the "special" breakfast sandwich that includes avocado, as well as a drip coffee and beignet. Each sandwich is made fresh to order, and I took my food to-go to enjoy at the Ferry Building, a short walk away. The sandwich is definitely worth the hype! First, the biscuits are baked to perfection with a crispy exterior and flaky, buttery interior. They held their structure to contain soft scrambled eggs, melted pepper jack, bacon, avocado, and hot sauce (pro tip: get extra hot sauce on the side). The sandwich was very hearty and kept me full until dinner. The beignet was forgettable (it was served room temperature and didn't taste fresh), but I'd want to give their other baked goods a try. read more

Must try!!!! All of my expectations were met coming here for the first time and I can't wait to go back!!! I tried the famous "special" breakfast sandwich, a latte and of course some beignets (only on sundays) everything was delicious and fresh!!! I also purchased a book that ive been wanting to buy/ read for a while now so that was a plus that they had a mini bookstore pop-up! Finally from the moment we walked in, to the time we left it was a great experience MILLIE AND HER TEAM were amazing and had the best energy and customer service, EVERYONE was so nice, welcoming & informative, you just felt like they loved being there & doing what they do (& that's very rare nowadays) thank you all! read more
Love this place. The cinnamon roll here speaks to my soul, it's worth the hype, that sweet cinnamony goodness oozing out of the roll in each perfect bite. Perfect for sharing but also perfectly okay to consume all by yourself (as i have done many times) Another signature of theirs is the breakfast sandwich- recommend getting the special with all the trimmings as its got more flavor punch to it and extra saucy to combat the biscuit. Perfectly crumbly biscuit and great sauce with the eggs- served warm and full of goodness. Love treating myself to a breakfast biscuit and cinnamon roll when in the area- its always both items, always. Friendly staff and quick service- not much seating really in the area- it's more of grab and go, but there are plenty of cute places nearby to take your food to sit and enjoy- and embarcadero is close by if its a nice day! There are also plenty of other food options here which looks great too, homemade bakery items, coffee's and other savory items! read more
Been wanting to try the famous devil's teeth breakfast sandwich for a while since it's so hyped up on social media. Came to Embarcadero location on a Saturday morning 8am ish with no line to order. But did have to wait a bit for the food. I got the "special breakfast sandwich" ($11.50) with creamy scrambled eggs, smashed avocado and thick cut bacon. The biscuits were very buttery. Not the best I've had, but pretty good. It's better than your average breakfast sandwich but I guess I was expecting something more due to all the hype. I personally do not enjoy bacon, I'd order without bacon next time. Note: I think the difference between the regular vs the special breakfast sandwich is the cheese they use and the addition of avocado. The regular uses cheddar and the special has pepper jack. read more
