Stopped for breakfast with my wife this morning at the new restaurant on Hopyard. The food was great the service was excellent. ZEEK was our server, went out of his way to ensure Everything was perfect and it was. Talk about good customer service I l I mentioned how much I enjoyed the coffee shortly after ZEEK gave me a small bag of Dennys coffee, I offered to pay, he said the manager, ALFONSO JUAREZ wanted me to have it. I can't remember last time I received such great service from the entire staff. To finish the place is beautiful, indoor and out side. I worked in the food industry and know what a good clean sanitary place looks like. This is an outstanding example. TWICE the price it was across the street! No longer Value. Req senior was charged reg full tgat didnt help iced tea was just as bad 4.99. Tgey must be paying for fire loss across the street. New Denny's I was quite delighted to see Denny's opening up in Pleasanton. For those who have not seen it under construction for the last few months, it is located on Hopyard in what was formerly Buttercup Pantry/El Balazo/Specialty's. They largely redecorated and rearranged what Specialty's had done with the property so it is a very neat, tidy and fresh looking Denny's, far removed from the prior location that had also been in Pleasanton practically within sight of this one. I'll preface this critique with the fact I have waited on tables before, abet, decades ago so I'm looking at this not only from a customer's viewpoint but as a person who had a similar job many states away when I had fewer miles on my odometer. I also do cook meals for the household on a daily basis so going out is really more of a treat than a necessity. We arrived Sunday morning when it was still dark out sometime after 6:30 am (3/20/2022). There was one other person sitting. Myself and my guest were greeted promptly by the hostess with a smile, immediately seated and they informed us of the name of the person who will be waiting on our table. Looking around I was quite pleased to see the LACK of TV screens, here's hoping that fad of casual restauranteering has died out! Thanks, Denny's! Anyway, back to our meal. About 4 to 5 minutes elapsed and the hostess came by again and asked us if we'd like anything to drink. Some 4 or 5 minutes later our server arrived with coffee, six mini cups of creamer and the glass of water my guest wanted. We ordered our meals, there was a touch of confusion about ordering fruit with the meal. I felt that was most likely due to them not knowing the menu very well yet which isn't too surprising even though the tablet I expect shows what each dish combo entails. We are after all less than a week after the soft opening. We did not get complex meals but they were not stock meals either, we both had addendums to what we wanted. As we sat and talked we watched as more employees showed up for the day and also observed customers coming in. The ambience is casual dining, the surfaces are mostly hard so once there were 15+ people in there there is the expected din from people talking. The food arrived fairly quickly and reasonably hot. Oddly the meal my guest got which had the 9-grain pancakes did not arrive with the scoop of whipped butter or a tabletop maple syrup dispenser. The next time our server passed by he asked for them both, eventually getting the syrup but the butter never materialized. The food was quite tasty and certainly was otherwise quite up to snuff! Super! I finished my meal quickly along with my cup of coffee. My guest drank all of his water and set it near the edge of the table as he ate his pancakes. Eventually, our server spied the empty glass (I don't think they've quite learned the rhythm of watching the table from afar yet) and came up to refill it and we then asked for more coffee as well. They quickly returned and we both set our coffee cups where it was easier for the server to fill them, though personally, I don't feel that should be necessary. As I implied earlier I was willing to add some of my forethought to help them with their inexperience. Even with the refilled coffee, the creamer cups were not restocked. A bit later when our coffee was refilled again I made a note to ask for more creamer as well to help them reduce the number of trips to the table. All in all a good experience and I'm pleased to see Denny's is back in Pleasanton! We had a fine and pleasant outing and will be returning! Here are a few thoughts for management reading this review; After the initial seating, it took perhaps two or three minutes longer than it should have for our server to take our drink order which then required the hostess instead to take up the slack and get that done. Since there were 'near as I could tell' no more than three customers in there at the time I'd imagine the server was not heavily occupied. It is perhaps a given that pancakes should be served with butter and syrup, but maybe that needs to be reiterated. Ideally, it should not need to be asked for. Beverages ought not get completely empty and they should not need to be placed on the edge of table to flag they need refilling. read more

the place is quite spacious and staffs are nice. really remind me when i was in college, denny's could make me stay all night for studying. lol... anyway, foods are still great and i order the steak ( sorry for not taking the picture) and taste is great with lots of fries and corn. i will come back here again for sure. always look for 24 hour place for eating and glad knowing they are here now... read more

They just opened and we wanted to try it out. There's parking all around and the downside is, if you park on the side of the restaurant they have parking stalls that are lined up across from the cars that are facing the restaurant. When we were reversing out, it was a tight fit because we had cars on both side of the parking stall we were and in the back of us. We had to maneuver at least four times just to make it out without hitting any cars that were parked along side of the main road (Dougherty). We got there around 10:30ish a.m. and was seated right away for a party of six. The breakfast and service was okay. We ordered.... Chicken & Biscuit that came with two eggs - biscuit was very hard and chewy, the eggs was very sunny side up..lol. the egg whites around the yolk wasn't cooked all the way, so we smothered it with hot sauce and the gravy that came with. Grand Slam - it was okay. Kids breakfast - I guess it was good because they ate it all :) We'll probably be back to try the lunch or dinner menu. read more

Then the additional server came and passed out the food to the wrong people and while I was trying to ask for specifications she just kept saying yes yes yes yes. First, way too expensive. Long wait times, and everyone in my party got their food at different times. Yet items were still incorrect or missing parts. Then we were overcharged, although they did rectify the bill. There was only one server for all tables. I love coming to Dennys at night. There were two nights where Kelly was flat out rude and lazy. She told me the shake machine didnt work (later we were told it always works) and blamed her laziness on the cook in the back. We ordered Mac and cheese and we were astonished to see the quantity we were served. She said," we usually give less than that but we actually served more tonight." (Check the photo below). Our food came out after 45 minutes on both visits with Kelly and both times said the cook was messing up and having a rough night. The French toast had no taste and had to be drenched in Syrup. The Mac and cheese in the photo, had not had a bite taken out of it. It took one bite to finish and charged 5 bucks. What stood out to us was Kelly's laziness and how she seemed to not care about customer service at all. read more

Came over for breakfast instead of cooking at home. What a great decision. The host and server, Javier, was the best. Did his job well and above and beyond from greeting us to making sure our coffee was topped off. He even offered to take a photo of us when he saw me taking a picture of my mother. It's clean and new looking, however my #1 issue is a sound system that is too loud and sounds like it was designed with tin cans and string, The audio and music played at Safeway is better than this. The place is well done so overall decent ambiance. Breakfast V. Omlette was decent but surprised to see only white or wheat bread options on the side. No sourdough, rye etc. Service was way under par. Not enough servers, no one asks for even one coffee refill, you don't even see servers walking by checking on how the meal is. No one asks if I am done, if I need anything else. These are fixable problems. But I may not return in the short term. read more

He hesitated & asked us to wait while he asks another guy, I'm assuming to be the manager. The guy was taking his time & was near the soda fountain. Mind you, the restaurant was only 10-15% full. We waited... and waited. Finally after about 15mins, we decided to leave and get Burger King to go, the one adjacent Denny's. Don't order the new "Lasagna". It claims to have cheese AND meat, but it doesn't actually have meat. It has some strange kind of cheese with a peculiar texture. Perhaps it was frozen? Ii is served by itself in a bowl very hot, which has a liquid mix of what looks like spaghetti sauce, that has particles of meat. And there marketing strategy appears to not include any sides,but then upsell you extras. Denny's used to be a better place, and a better deal. read more
