I think this is the very first time as a helper that I've had such a huge sway in reviews for places that I frequent. As you can tell from my first review a few months ago. We'll start with the server. She wasn't overly welcoming or anything of that sort, kind of cold in the beginning. You could tell she didn't want to be there. She sat me down, and took my order, and got my drink. I'll jump ahead and say that I was her last customer of the evening because I talked with her before paying my check, and I actually got a little smile out of her. So it's fair to assume that she had already put in her full day, so I can give a pass on that. She brought my food quickly, and even gave me a to-go drink without even asking. I think it's just a combination of her personality and being tired and ready to go home, but she wasn't bad in the least. The place was pretty empty, I mean it was 9:00 at all, but it looks clean inside and it's your basic Denny's decorum. I ordered a salad in place of French fries, with the burger that I ordered. I kid you not, my side salad tonight completely blew away my salmon salad I got a few months ago. I ordered the bourbon bacon burger, without a bun. I wanted just a lettuce wrap, and they delivered. This is where it gets goo I don't know where they found this cook, but that girl GETS DOWN. My burger was fresh off the flat top, and it's crazy to say, but it's one of the best burgers that I've had, that I can even remember. I'm glad I gave this place another try, I was really walking in with the attitude that it was going to be another strike out, but I was delighted. I come through here pretty often, so now I know that I won't have to shy away from here the next time I want to eat. However, the real highlight was the AMAZING service we got from our server, Rita - the woman is a gem and made us feel welcome; she was completely on her game making sure we had everything we needed and made us smile and laugh! Horrible, Horibble Experience! We arrived a little after 10:30. When we placed our order they had to check to see if the country fried steak was on the truck that just came in. It wasn't, so we reselected. No problem. We waited and waited for our food. The waitress came back by the table and admitted she forgot to enter our order. Five tables around us that come in after us got their food and ate and left and we still didn't have our food. When we asked she told us a new waitress had taken our exact order and she had to reenter the order. What are the odds of someone having the exact same order as us when there weren't probably 10 tables filled in the restaurant. We waited some more. We finally heard the waitress calling out our order to the cooks. At 11:45 we still didn't have our food. Our order was finally brought out a few items at a time instead of all at once. At check out we were told they would only comp the drinks. I asked to speak to a manager. He said he couldn't comp the entire meal, only the drinks. I told him that was not acceptable. He stood his ground and took off the drinks and made us pay for the food. I'm really glad in some ways they didn't comp the meal because this way I don't feel like I have to sugarcoat this review. Staff is HORRIBLY rude. Time means nothing here. Showed up when my order was set to be ready and it still had to be cooked. Guy told us to sit down and ten more minutes. Went to tye counter to ask if order was ready and was spoken AROUND to other customers. My order had been sitting on the counter, getting cold with zero telling me I had to go and grab it. Ignored. The lady who was behind the counter was extremely rude when I was only asking her if it was okay to take my order and she snapped at me. Absolutely inappropriate behavior. The tip was absolutely not deserved, whatsoever. Horrid service, and this was a PICKUP order. This place may as well be shut down or get an entire staff overhaul because they are not at all suited for this job. I certainly won't be coming here again. Friday night we got out of work pretty late, around 10pm. When I want to sit down and eat, he likes going to Denny's because they're 24 hours and we don't have to feel rushed. It was busy, but we were greeted and seated instantly, there were still plenty of seatings. He ordered the mozzarella sticks to start off, he got the chicken fried chicken with brown gravy and onion rings, I got the salmon with vegetables medley. Our food took almost an hour to come out, it was room temp, bread was soggy laying in the veggies, we just ate it anyway Mash and chicken fried chicken had good flavor, my fish tasted like canned tuna shaped to look like salmon. Mozzarella sticks were great though!! It's our fault, we went to a place known for breakfast and ordered dinner plates. Our server Kris was AMAZING!!! The absolute BEST server we have ever had at Denny's, EVER. I just asked for another piece of bread, she was so apologetic, and so sweet. It's not her fault, things happen, I get it. It looked like she was the only server, and boy did she do a good job checking in on everyone and their food. She kept apologizing for the wait time and we reassured her, it's okay. do not go here!! we were placed in a section where the waiter wasn't even there yet. it took about 15 minutes for us to get attention, which was awful for the rest of the meal as well. it took way too long for us to get our food, especially since there were not many people there. the server did not even bring out all of the items from our food orders, to which he kept forgetting about and messing up. i had to remind the staff 3 different times about the food they did not bring us, and there were still some items missing. my boyfriend did not get his toast or sausage at all, and it took forever to get my pancakes. i also think it may have given me food poisoning. 0/10 do not recommend read more

I don't know ‍ who the other people had for a waitress but my server was great! I order a steak n eggs with hash brown for breakfast and it was cooked right(medium) and came expeditiously. Ashlyn H. was my waitress. She smiled and made eye contact when doing so. Made me feel like I was in the right place. She moved with purpose or pep in her step to get things done too. I went in for 6:10am and paid and left for 6:55am. Still got to work 20 min early. The food wasn't bad but customer service is horrible. It was a little after 10am I ordered a T-Bone and broccoli and red skin potatoes. I was told they wasn't ready for broccoli but I could order the breakfast T-Bone and they would give me 2 sides of potatoes instead of the eggs. I agreed to this. The sly server laid the bill face down when I was finished eating. I looked at the bill and I was charged for each side of potato and when I questioned it I was told because she was told to do it this way by her manager. I said if I was paying for eggs and toast and then the additional sides I wanted the eggs and toast for my dog. I received an eye roll then she went to the bar area and loudly said "That guy that ordered the T-Bone and potato wants the eggs and toast." The manager said I'm not going out there to talk to him. I was then slid a To-go bowl of egg scraps that they had scraped off of the grill. It was literally scrambled eggs, edge pieces of burnt eggs, and an egg yolk of an over easy egg. (So it was good that I was going to give to my dog because it wasn't edible by humans). I asked about the toast I paid for and was given 2 slices of toast. But no condiments for the toast. And I wasn't going to ask for them at this point. I ended up paying for the steak meal and the additional 2 sides. I went up to pay and the cashier was pushed out of the way so the smirk faced server could cash me out. I was told "I hope you have a better day now" as I was paying. Do not go here very rude and management will not talk to customers. They will cowardly stand behind the bar and tell the servers to take care of it. read more

I've been to a lot of Denny's in my day. it's a chain. I know they are hit or miss as far as both food and service goes. But this one, to date, is the worst one I have ever been to. Hubby and I have been here several times on visits to Mississippi. The reason we've chosen this Denny's each time is because it's been in the middle of the night (there's not many options in MS at that time) and because they offer free WiFi. Since it has always been in the night, I understand they don't have a large staff working. But every single time, we've had to wait at the hostess stand for 5-10 minutes to even be noticed so we can be seated. Why? Because the employees who are working are all standing around the counter area chit-chatting. Service has always been horrible. Each time they have been so slow that our server has only had our table. No one else. Yet it takes forever to get us drinks, takes forever to take our order, takes forever to get our food, takes forever to get our check... you get the point. My husband has gotten up himself many times to ask for refills, to ask for silverware, to ask for the check, etc. Again, not that our servers have ever been busy, but because they are standing around chit-chatting with their co-workers. Each time we've been here, we've ordered something different because the previous things we ordered were horrible. Logic told us to order something different and perhaps it would be better. No. I don't understand that either b/c if they are so slow, WTH is the person doing cooking the food? It's not like they are in a hurry trying to get a bunch of orders out, so things should be cooked well and properly. It also shouldn't take so darn long. The WiFi. Like I said, it's one of the reasons we choose this place. It has never worked. The first visit I asked the server. She didn't have a clue. I asked for the manager. Not only did she not have a clue, but she was so rude. One of the rudest managers I've encountered at any restaurant. The good? The restaurant is newish, so everything is clean and looks nice. That ends "the good." Even though we'll never return here again, I still gave it two stars because it takes A LOT for me to give a 1 star rating. It pretty much has to be hazardous to your health for me to give a 1 star rating. Horrid service. Waitress said she would get coffee and then disappeared. Also said she would bring my toast that comes with Lumberjack Slam. Never happened. Didn't get my pancakes either. Complained to manager, who refilled my coffee and ignored my requests for toast and pancakes... that are supposed to come with the meal!! I would leave zero stars if I could. This is not a dennys. I've eaten at dennys my whole life and this is the first one I went to where the food was completely different than normal dennys. Club sandwich was disgusting. Cheese felt old and stinky. Bread was beyond greasy. Super bird sandwich was severely dry and different. They were out of half the items we asked for. Waitress seemed half asleep and kept getting our order wrong. Just horrible place to grab food at. Waste of money! It was 10:39pm and according to the Yelp page this Denny's is supposed to be open 24hrs. When we walked in we were "greeted" and I use that term loosely by a lady who I formed us they were closed so I preceded to say that their page needs to be updated cause it's showing 24hrs and having been updated 3months ago. She informed me that they are open 24hrs but she doesn't have any employees to work however their was a person in a booth that didn't have on a uniform and their was a man in the back on the grills. Food was good and the service was as well. After dining went to pay for my food and things went downhill. The manager made a mistake with my credit card and had to get rung up at a different register. The food was mediocre.. I came in and no one came to seat me and my lovely girlfriend, just watched. The waiter was nice but the very slow, we didn't get the toast we ordered with the food until we were basically done eating, and the sausage was like a microwaveable sausage. Now, I normally don't just bash places, try to find the positive things in the worst situations, but I'll be reaching here to find it. And this is why I prefer locally owned over chains. So, let's get to this tragic review. Came in and sat ourselves. Only one other diner in the building besides us two. So it was not busy at all. I seen two servers, a manager, and one cook. I ordered the $4 value breakfast which comes with 2 eggs, 2 pieces of bacon, and 2 pancakes. I swapped the regular pancakes for the limited edition dulce pancakes. They said there would be a $1 upcharge for the substitution. Ok cool no problem. My friend ordered a breakfast $9 that comes with bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns, 2 pancakes (sub the dulce) and a biscuit. I ordered sweet tea. Guest ordered a coffee and water. It's down hill from there. The server brings a plastic spoon to stir the coffee and says, I'll bring you real silverware later you can't stir this hot coffee with that flimsy spoon. So.. we wait. AN HOUR later, we still have NO FOOD. Server and manager are arguing about something, but you can clearly hear them expressing how much they hate their job. At this point, I hate their job too. We get our food. Finally. And as you see, they have hash browns on my plate that don't come with the meal I ordered. My guest was given an Italian sausage that was still frozen on the inside and instead of "links" like the menu states. He sent the sausage back to get heated up. Y'all they put it under the heating lamp in the window to warm up in real life! Needless to say, we never seen that sausage again. The plates were full of grease from where they obviously dumped the eggs from a skillet on to the plates, so all that butter saturated everything. The pancakes just had mountains of brown sugar on top. It was described as crunchy. No way. So, here's the over the top part. We ask for to go boxes, took another 20 minutes for that. We get our check... it's $32.79 !!!! I'm like how?!? The manager comes over and says that the server didn't know they can't sub those pancakes. So they just charged us both for THAT pancake special breakfast. Well first of all, I wasn't that hungry, hence that's why I ordered a $4 breakfast to begin with. Secondly, that should have been relayed to us prior to the check being presented. Our order should have been $4 + $1 upcharge, $9 + $1 upcharge, coffee, and tea. So a check that should have been at around $20, now magically jumped to $33??? My guest was so irritated, he just wanted to pay and leave. This was just ridiculous. Now, if you was going TO make a customer pay for what you want them to have rather than what they ordered, where the hell is my 2 extra pieces of bacon, sausage, and biscuit. They straight giving the worst service, food, and on top of that you are robbing people? Nah, I won't be back. Not one refill was given. There was no excuse for this foolishness. This location is by far the worst location I have ever eaten. Service is 100% of the issue. Food & Cooks have always been very good. It seems it is only night shifts that are very very bad. I wonder if the Franchise Owners know just how bad this location is?? Denny Corp must NOT know..... I have 120 employed working. The "Hands-Off" policy of management doesn't appear to be working..... The food is usually OK here, but the wait staff leaves something to be desired. They often disappear for long periods of time leaving you with empty drinks. I have on 2 occasions received slightly burnt food. They do stay open 24 hours, but if there is something else open I would go there instead. read more

Where do I start the first waiter said that he was goin to give us to manager to be our waiter well the coffee never was hot & we ordered our breakfast & waited & waited waited & needed more coffee & then when they brought my breakfast & told my friend that they did not have strawberry crepe But they never asked would you like to reorder & findly got by my breakfast but no silverware. Kept asking about silverware & no napkins. The person at the table next to us got us a few napkins. My friend never got anything but her drinking water . Just ate at this Denny's the other night and it was an overall great experience! Jennifer was my server and she was welcoming, had a smile on her face the entire time and kept my coffee coming which is all I can ask for whenever I go out to eat. I had the sirloin steak dinner and mashed potatoes and gravy as my entree. The potatoes were thick and mashed well, the gravy tasted good and the steak was cooked just the way I asked it to be done! Very rarely do I find a restaurant able to do a true medium rare but their chef did. Now if you're expecting me to go on a rant and rave about flavor profile there isn't going to be any because mashed potatoes and gravy and a sirloin steak is pretty standard fare, but the fact that they can do it and it's not overcooked means they're Cook does know what he's doing. I'd have to say the only negative aspect I had in my experience was there was one employee who did more standing around behind the bar and going outside to smoke cigarettes and talk on her phone than anything else. I brought this up to the manager, Allison and what I found nice was that she acknowledged my complaint in a very professional and friendly manner. It was as is if we were neighborhood friends which made this particular experience, along with my waitress, Jennifer truly great because I didn't feel like I was dealing with corporate people, but with people that I may have known for years. They treated me like I was part of the the community even if I am an over-the-road driver. In effect I recommend that people should come here and eat and you know enjoy the selection and joy the ambience and the low-key atmosphere that this staff creates because I feel that it's Blackson especially after a long day on the road or a hard day at work! read more
